Front fuel strap on gas tank pulled out of the frame
The frame bracket to the gas tank fuel bracket malfunction causing tank to lower and gouging the drive shaft
Driving truck over RR tracks in city that were not a large bump and my front fuel tank strap came loose. I looked under truck and saw strap was corroded but not broken. Then looked where the T shape strap connector attached to vehicle and it was extremely corroded and broken away. Had I been moving at a much higher speed this would have caused a serious accident.
My front gas tank mounting strap pulled through the frame. The gas tank was almost touching the ground and the strap was rubbing on the driveshaft. Said the recall is for up to 2012. Mine is titled as a 2013 but manufactured in November of 2012. What can be done? 13 year old truck shouldn't have a frame rusted that bad, even in Ohio
Front fuel tank strap pulled out of frame. The strap T portion is still intact but the mounting location on the frame rotted out. The rear strap held so the tank didn't make contact with the ground. There was a recall on the 09-12 rams for a similar issue, I think it needs be expanded to 2013 and maybe 2014 models as well.
The front gas tank strap pulled out of its slot in the frame. The tank hung appx 4” off the ground, hitting the ground on the frost heaves. I was alerted by the driver behind me. Had I not been alerted, I may have punctured or wore a hole in the tank risking a fire from leaking fuel. I used ratchet straps to secure the tank. I had appx 10 miles on the vehicle since fill up. I contacted the local Dodge dealer in Berlin Vt on 3-7-2025 and am waiting for reply.
Ram has a defect in the gas tank strap busting while driving and not holding up the gas tank. They have issued a free repair for (some) models from 2009 - 2012. The same problem is in Ram Trucks made in 2013. This is very dangerous for a driver and can cause fire. See: RAM TSB 14-002-18 REV. A
I was driving 65 MPH on the interstate when I lost all power steering function. This failure almost pulled me into traffic to my left. Luckily I was near an exit and was able to get off the highway without being involved in an accident. Upon having the truck checked by a mechanic, I was told that the electronic power steering rack and pinion assembly had failed and it would cost over $2500.00 to replace. I had to pay this cost or else the truck was undrivable.
Front welded frame mounting point for gas tank "Tee-Strap" rusted through causing front of gas tank to sag from frame and only be supported by remaining rear gas tank strap. The actual T-strap is structurally sound, it is the the frame mount that rusted through that allowed the Tee-Strap to pull through the mount. It appears that the design of the mounting point allowed moisture and road grit to become trapped in the bottom of the mount causing the rust breakthrough. The car has low mileage for it's age (97k) and has been kept in a garage.
The front fuel tank strap bracket that is apart of the frame rusted out, allowing the strap to fall, dropping the front of the fuel tank. I was luckily pulling out of my driveway and heard the noise. The fuel tank was completely full.
Unknown- The fuel tank strap came out of frame due to rust and now the fuel tank is sagging, we’re afraid to drive it anywhere especially with our children. We saw there’s a recall from 2009-2012 for the faulty fuel tank strap and ours is a 2013, we’re curious if ours was in the production line at the time of the faulty strap, is there anyway to find this out?
Fuel tank strap broke, causing tank to drop. Happened at gas station after filling up.
The vehicle failed PA state inspection for corroded frame where the front fuel tank strap broke free from a slot into the frame. Who knows when it popped free. There is now only one rear strap holding the gas tank in up under the vehicle. This could have resulted in a full gas tank just dropping right out of the vehicle. Contacted ram dealer where i got the truck from. First they said ok, we will fix it and ordered the parts. Will call when these are in and ready to be installed. Called back 2 weeks or so later and they denied any recall notice, issue or ordering any parts. Huge safety flaw that could result in fatal accident either by having the fuel tank fall out of the vehicle or being in an accident and it falling out bursting into flames.
Wife and I were driving and we heard a grinding or loud rubbing sound. Pulled over to see the fuel tank hanging close to the ground. Thank goodness no fuel lines broken. Front strap looks ok, but where the strap goes looks damaged or rotted.
Truck will stall out pulling out in traffic with no signs of a problem. It happened to me today with my kid in the truck. This is unacceptable. This trucks are to expensive to have this. It also will surge and try to go without foot on gas. This is totally unsafe. Dodge needs to fix this.
Front fuel tank strap mount rusted through allowing strap to pull out and front of fuel tank to drop down. This is the same problem that happened on the same model pickups in year model 2008 - 2012. In my research up to this current point the situation on my vehicle is the same problem on the previous year models. I will be reaching out to a Dodge dealer to see what can be done about issue. I feel that your department should be researching this issue further because upon reading some forums, that this issue does appear on even newer year models.
I was driving down the interstate and started to see flames and smoke coming from my hood. I pulled over and was able to put out the fire. The fire department showed up and determined that the fire started from the fuel injector system.
The front fuel tank strap pulled through the frame mount which was highly corroded, causing the front of the fuel tank to drop significantly down and be held up only by the rear hanger strap and rubber fuel line. I heard a noise underneath after filling the tank and looked to see the fuel tank hanging way down. If this had dropped further or been hit by a road imperfection while driving it could have resulted in significant fuel leakage, and fire or explosion. I contacted the local dealer who said this was nothing they could repair. I contacted FCA Customer Care who infomred me I was out of warranty and they would not help. The same issue has been recalled on 2009-2012 RAM 1500 trucks under #U04 (Part 573 Safety Recall Report 18V-160). The bracket accumulates water and has no drain hole, resulting in long term corrosion. I have...
I heard a metallic scraping noise from my truck pulled over to inspect the undercarriage. My fuel tank is hanging down approximately 6 inches. Upon closer inspection I see that one of the two metal retaining brackets has come undone. It appears the bracket welded to the frame of the truck has corroded and the metal strap pulled through the deteriorated rusty metal. After doing some online research this is a well-known problem which is the subject of a previous recall (# 18VI6000) by Chrysler. The problem is the recall data from 2009 to 2012 and my truck is a 2013. I called both my local dealership and then the FCA customer care line. Both informed me this is not covered under a recall. My question is; Since this is obviously the exact same problem as many other vehicle owners have experienced and it was covered under a previous recall,...
Front fuel tank strap mounting hole/bracket rusted causing the strap to fall out and the fuel tank to hang low.
The fuel level gauge/sensor has failed 3 times now, making it impossible to know the fuel level when driving. It was repaired in January 2019, and again in July 2019, and failed again in August 2020 and remains broken due to the ridiculously high repair cost. This is a common problem with Ram pickups and should be a recall. When the fuel gauge fails the check engine light comes on and stays on until cleared by a technician. This is a safety hazard because the driver has no way of knowing how much fuel is actually in the tank and could easily end up with the driver being stranded on a busy interstate or in a dangerous situation.
The front fuel tank strap pull out of its t slot due to corrosion. There is a recall for 2010- 2012 but not 2013. It is the exact same problem!
THE FUEL TANK STRAPS AND MOUNTING BRACKET RUSTED OUT AND DISENGAGED FROM THE TANK . FRONT PART OF THE TANK HANGING DOWN . VERY DANGEROUS . DODGE DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR 2013 RAM 1500. THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ASAP LIKE THEY DID FOR PREVIOUS YEAR VEHICLES.
MY TRUCK WILL NOT START, IT WON'T EVEN TURN ON.IT CONTINUOUSLY SAYS CHECK THE FUEL CAP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL TURN ON BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT (BEFORE IT STARTED TO ACT UP). EVEN THOUGH IT SEEMS LIKE THE BATTERIES DEAD AND WE KNOW IT WON'T TURN ON IT'S STILL MAKING A LOUD LIKE CLICKING OR KNOCKING NOISE. IT WILL STOP FOR A MINUTE AND THEN START AGAIN. I'VE NEVER HEARD A CAR DO THAT BEFORE SO I DON'T THINK THAT'S NORMAL. MY CLICKER KEY WON'T EVEN WORK TO LOCK OR UNLOCK OR EVEN SET THE PANIC OFF.
I TRIED THIS ONCE AND LOST IT DOWNLOADING A PICTURE. I HAD A PROBLEM PUTTING GAS IN MY TRUCK. IT KEPT MAKING THE GAS PUMP POP. EVENTUALLY IT TOOK 30-40 MIN TO GET GAS IN IT. I STARTED USING A 5 GALLON GAS CAN TO GET GAS IN IT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND IT COST OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX. ALSO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY TAILGATE OPENING WHILE I WAS DRIVING, ONE OF THE TIMES A TRAILER WAS ATTACHED AND IT OPENED AN HIT THE HITCH AND DENTED IT MAKING IT HARD TO OPEN IT. ONE DAY I STOPPED AT A BUSINESS ON JOPPA RD IN PERRY HALL TO PICK UP 2 LAWNMOWERS AND WHEN I PULLED OUT ON JOPPA ROAD AND THE TAILGATE POPPED OPEN AGAIN AND THE MOWERS FELL OUT AND STARTED GRILLING DOWN THE ROAD AND LUCKILY THE OWNER OF THE...
I WENT TO PASS A VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY AND MY ACCELERATOR STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND CAUSED ME TO GO IN DITCH HAD TO SHUT TRUCK OFF UNTIL ACCELERATOR FINALLY RELEASED
FUEL NOZZLE GETTING STUCK AT THE FUEL FILLER.SOMETIMES IT TAKES 5 TO 10 MINUTES TO REMOVED THE NOZZLE FROM THE FUEL FILLER TUBE.
ENGINE CHECK, TRACTION CONTROL, ANTI-SKID LIGHTS COMES ON WITH A MESSAGE THROTTLE CONTROL REQUIRES SERVICE. THE ENGINE LOSSES ALL POWER OR STALLS MAKING VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, STOP AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. I HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON , IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER THE TRUCK SITS FOR A DAY OR TWO ALL PROBLEMS CLEAR. 4-23-2019 IS MY THIRD INCIDENT IN 4 MONTHS.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS INTERMITTENT NON RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED RESULTING IN THE OPPOSITE EFFECT ON A BUSY ROAD. ONCE WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY ON RAMP THE VEHICLE STALLED COMPLETELY, AFTER RESTARTING THERE WAS INTERMITTENT NON RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO A CORRODED FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED IN THE TIPM UNIT UNDER THE HOOD OF MANY MODEL YEAR DODGE RAMS. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF RECALLS ISSUED FOR OTHER DODGE PRODUCTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT DODGE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE LEAVING THE BURDEN OF REPAIR TO THE CONSUMER.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE ENGINE STALLS. A MESSAGE DISPLAYS TO "PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TO START", BUT LOST POWER TO EVERYTHING ELSE. TWICE IT ALLOWED ME TO START FROM PARK, THE 3RD TIME IT WOULD NOT START. I PUT IT IN PARK, HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT IT DID NOTHING. I SHUT IF OFF COMPLETELY, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE PARKED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH THE KEYFOB. ALL OTHER DOORS UNLOCKED, NOT THE DRIVER'S DOOR. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES LOCKING/UNLOCKING, I HAD TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR AND MANUALLY PULL THE LOCK KNOB. ONE OTHER TIME, WHILE SITTING STILL, THE DRIVER'S DOOR UNLOCKED ITSELF, WHEN MY ROOMMATE PULLED ON THE DOOR HANDLE, THE DOOR OPENED AND THE ALARM WENT OFF. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, I WAS TRYING TO BACK INTO MY PARKING...
I HAVE HAD AN ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR QUIT SOME TIME AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS A FUEL CAP. AFTER LEAVING THERE A FEW DAYS LATER, SAME THING. BUT THEN I NOTICED FUELING IT UP TOOK 15 TO 20 MINUTES. SO I TOOK IT BACK I ANDROID THEM ABOUT THE LIGHT AND THE FUELING PROBLEM. AFTER HOURS OF SEARCHING I GET A CALL SAYING THAT MY FILTER LAYING IN THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK WAS PLUGGED. WHICH SUCKED MY FUEL TANK DOWN LIKE A PANCAKE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT INSTEAD OF THE FUEL CAP BREATHING OUT ITWASSUCKING IN, PULLING ALL KINDS OF DUST INTO THE TANK. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS FILTER WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. I HAVE FOUND NO LITERATURE ON THIS EITHER. I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON TRUCK AND IT IS NOT COVERED. WHAT...
I WAS WAITING AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I GOT A GREEN ARROW TO TURN LEFT AND PROCEEDED INTO THE INTERSECTION. RIGHT AFTER I STARTED MOVING AT ABOUT 1/2 WAY THROUGH MY TURN MY TRUCK'S ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED. I COASTED THE REST OF THE WAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALER'S ANALYSES WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE FAILED, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN. *TR
WHEN WE PURCHASED THE RAM 1500/V6 ENGINE PICKUP TRUCK NEW IN APRIL 2013, JOHNSON DODGE, BUDD LAKE, NJ, IT DID NOT HESITATE AND RAN WELL. OVER THE NEXT THREE MONTHS IT SLOWLY DEVELOPED AN SIGNIFICANT, ONE SECOND PLUS, HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THE SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] AT JOHNSON DODGE TEST DROVE AND AGREED THERE WAS A HESITATION BUT COULDN'T/CAN'T FIX/ADJUST IT DO TO EVERYTHING BEING CONTROLLED BY COMPUTER MODULES. HE SAID, "UNTIL THEY, (RAM ENGINEERS), RELEASE A SOFTWARE FIX/UPDATE OR TECH BULLETIN, THERE WAS NOTHING HE/THEY COULD DO." THIS HESITATION IS SO SEVERE IT REQUIRES THE DRIVER TO ANTICIPATE THE DELAY AND THAN PRE-PRESS THE ACCELERATOR WHEN CROSSING A STREET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR OTHER SITUATION REQUIRING TIMELY ACCELERATOR RESPONSE. I BELIEVE THIS HESITATION AND LACK OF DEALER CORRECTION CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING REQUIREMENT OF ME AND ANY OTHER DRIVER OF THESE PICKUP TRUCKS. [XXX] INFORMATION...
