While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly became unstable and difficult to control. Steering response was abnormal, and the vehicle did not behave as expected, creating a loss of stability and control. The incident occurred without warning and required the vehicle to be towed. This event raised serious safety concerns, as the vehicle appeared prone to instability and unsafe operation. The vehicle has a history of repeated mechanical and safety-related issues that were previously addressed through warranty service but not resolved. Despite prior repairs, the unsafe condition persisted and culminated in this incident. The manufacturer was notified of the ongoing defects and safety concerns but did not provide corrective resolution beyond referring the vehicle back to dealership service.
I’m writing to ask for you all to honor the recall for my jeep. I purchased a 2022 Jeep Wrangler in April of 2025 Months after the purchase I began to notice that on certain road conditions that my vehicle would shake violently back and forth at higher speeds if I hit a bump. As you can tell this causes great concern for mine and my children's well being. My teen son is also driving my vehicle which is also a concern. I've had it looked at by multiple shops who all state that the vehicle has a recall on the steering damper as it can create a death wobble. I attempted to take it to the Jeep dealership in Boulder, CO who refused to look at it stating my jeep doesnt count. Once you get over 60 mph the car starts to shake and wobble bad feels like jeep is going to fall apart took to jeep dealer after calling 800-jeep first agent acted like never heard of it then finally confessed it’s referred to as death wobble I will not even ride my kid in jeep going on highway it’s that’s unsafe jeep said it tightened up parts but one week later still happens can’t afford to keep taking jeep in and paying to have the tighten something and week later same thing i am stuck owe money on car
I'm Experiencing a KNOWN Jeep issue called the "DEATH WOBBLE". I only have 17800 miles on the vehicle and I'm 6 months out of warranty. when this vehicle gets into the death wobble mood it becomes totally uncontrollable and extremely unsafe to drive. the driver needs to slow down to under 40MPH or to a complete stop for it to stop. You can be driving at 65 MPH and the vehicle will go into convulsions, I feel it is SO dangerous I will not allow my wife to drive it.
I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. On 12/13/2025 while driving 50 - 60 MPH, the vehicle started shaking/vibrating violently after going over bumps, in what I've heard is the "Death Wobble". The steering wheel did not shake as much as the entire vehicle shook. Which recurred several times while driving, feeling as if the jeep would lost control and crash. The vehicle is scheduled to be taken to my mechanic who stated that it was the steering damper leading to other steering issues.

The steering and suspension suddenly vibrated the whole car violently for over two miles straight, steering is uncontrollable it feels as if the wheels of the jeep were going to fall off. This is well known in the Jeep community as the death wobble. It is a safety issue as there is a loss of control of the car and causes the need to pull over or stop immediately which is hard to do on a fast moving interstate or highway like in my case.
The component that failed was the steering damper. This results in the vehicle violently shaking at freeway speeds after hitting a bump. This has resulted in me having to pull over to get the issue to stop on multiple occasions. In addition, it can be difficult to keep control of the vehicle when this is happening and there is no set way to make it stop once it has begun. The car started to shake uncontrollably at highway speed without warning. Steering was very difficult. It was difficult to even see out of the vehicle due to extreme shaking. The car is going to the dealer to be examined. This is a low mileage daily driver, completely stock, with no modifications.
I was almost killed when my Jeep did the death wobble at 70 mph on the freeway. It violently shook out of control while I was in the fast lane of the freeway without warning. I had no control over the steering wheel, and it was pulling me towards the freeway wall. Slowing the car down was very difficult because it was jerking around so violently. When driving over 65 miles per hour you lose control of steering - known as the death wobble.
This is a 2022 Jeep wrangler sport with 40K miles on it. It was bought brand new. We are experiencing what is called the "Death Wobble" where the suspension parts give out and create a severe wobble in the front suspension and steering of the vehicle at highway speeds. The 2019 Jeep had a recall on this problem as well.
I have been and currently experiencing the death wobble while going on high speeds on the freeway. It feels like my jeep is out of control as the steering wheel Shakes and the whole car Shakes. I took it to the dealership where they just completed repairs for the shaking and put new suspension on. About two days later, I still experience the same shaking. There are no warning lights that come on.

Now they are saying we should try a Tru-Center Stabilizer, by looking on the web, they think that will fix it. Approximately 10 months ago, I noticed my steering wheel and tires began to wobble when I hit the same patch of rough road. The severe shaking would stop once I was on smoother pavement. This would happen sporadically. I had the tires balanced during the next service appointment. The problem did not occur again until a month or so later. I do not drive everyday, as I am a retired person. This is I think the “death wobble”, and it feels as if the car is out of control!
My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.

2022 Jeep 4xe Rubicon, 13,000 Miles - At about 5,000 miles I first noticed an occasional wobble in the front end at speeds around 50mph or above. The wobble has progressively gotten worse and at around 9,000 miles has developed into a full blown "death wobble". At 60mph or above it is most likely to happen. When is does happen it is started by a small bump or depression (smaller than a pothole will do it) the front end of the vehicle shakes violently and the only way to stop it is to let my foot off of the gas and let it coast. While driving over 50mph, I encountered issues with stablization where the steering wheel would violently shift left and right, and the vehicles front tires were wobbling uncontrollably until lowering speeds below 30mph. After the dealer replaced the steering damper, I ran into this problem again but much worse as I was driving 70mph on the Interstate. After almost losing control multiple times I was able to take back roads home. This is a huge safety issue as I had my baby in the vehicle and the issue is still occurring. Upon looking under the vehicle I noticed the steering damper free floating and the bolt was missing for the wheel. I'm not sure if the bolt assembly is bent but it appears the replacement by the dealer is inadequate.

Turnpike driving, approximate speed 70 mph. Hit a patched/bump in road. Experienced severe vibrations and wobbling in front end. Had to pull off onto shoulder to slow and stop vibrations. Then was able to resume normal driving. This was second experience of this kind in approximately 5 months.
This vehicle continues to have "Death Wobble" (violent shaking of stearing & suspension) when driving at or above 55 mph speeds. The current odometer mileage of vehicle is approximately 23,500 miles. Bought on 3/16 and going home it started wobbling at 60 after hitting a small crack in road. 3/20/24 I was traveling at 70 mph passing a car when I went over cracks on the high way when the death wobble started and would not stop until I was under 50 mph. Excessive play in steering due to OE tie rods ends manufactured with excessive play. I have complained on two occasions that the vehicle has excessive bump steer causing it to be difficult to handle at higher speeds on uneven surfaces. At times sharply darting towards oncoming traffic on some two lane roads. My dealer says there is nothing wrong but the service adviser admits there are many complaints of to much play in the steering by owners of this type of vehicle. As a technician myself I believe there is an issue here that is not being addressed. There are aftermarket parts available to fix the problem but there is no OE fix for warranty. That being said there is a problem that the Manufacturer needs to address. My vehicle had 13,000 miles on it and I first complained at 8,000 miles.
I purchased certified July of 2023 . My 2022 Sarah 4xe Jeep has been in the dealership 4 times for the so called death rattle on the freeway at highway speeds of 70-73 mph . When hitting bump it will wobble horribly to the point I have to slam the breaks on to get it to stop . The dealer the last time put on an aftermarket fox damper which helped quite a bit but it still will do it briefly . From what I’ve researched it is only a band aid to whatever the problem is . The car starts to shudder after driving over a gap in the road or bumpy pavement. Usually at around 50-60mph. Had two episodes that were minor and then a week later on the same drive two more episodes with much more intense vibrations. Had to quickly reduce speed to stop the resonance and vibration in each case. Will be checking for loose parts below the vehicle, which has about 8500 miles on it.
"Jeep Death Wobble" - Onset Dec 2022/Jan 2023 Dealership services: - Jan 13 2023 - July 7 2023 - October 26 2023 - December 6 2023 Presented to the dealership with the same wobble for all 4 of these visits to my recollection multiple times a stabilizer bar has been replaced, shocks been replaced, alignment fixed. Issue has again recurred starting January 2, 2024.
Over last 3 months have had 8 occurrences of “Death Wobble”. Front end shakes violently at high speed. During a recent road trip, event occurred 4 times, so violently that I had to pull over and stop vehicle.
While driving at higher speeds, after slightest road imperfection, the steering wheels shakes uncontrollably until you slow down considerably. The dealership acknowledges the problem calling it "death wobble" and offered to install steering damper. Research has found that this problem has existed on Jeep Wranglers since approx. 2017. A class action suit resulted in Jeep being ordered to install steering dampers and extending warranty. The uncontrollable shaking steering wheel is a hazardous condition and deserves more attention. Presently, four weeks later, I am still waiting of dealership to receive the ordered part. If this is a persistent problem, and a hazard, why no recall?

Installed a factory Jeep Fox 2" lift kit after reaching 700 miles on new 2022 Sahara. Checked and rechecked all torque specifications and took to dealer the next day for an alignment. They straightened the steering wheel which is a normal requirement when installing a lift. After about one month, I had an occurrence of the "death wobble". This is my 5th Jeep Wrangler, some with lifts, some without, so I am aware of the wobble when hitting a bump around 50-55mph and how to handle it. I rechecked all the specs on each bolt touched during lift install. I don't drive it much and baby it so it took a while before it happened again. Death wobble at highway speeds in a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4 door with full stock equipment and roughly 3,500 miles in October 2022. No previous experience or difficulties with vehicle but when temperatures lowered to freezing for the first time, the vehicle had significantly diminished performance on stability. After the initial death wobble, carefully driving the wheel continued to pulsate when hitting cracks in the pavement (wheels going into a downward bump, bumps in the up direction did not impact steering as heavily). While driving my vehicle shut off and steering wheel locked up making the vehicle inoperable. Thankfully I was close to home on a side street. I restarted the vehicle and a “please service charging system error” displayed along with a red turtle error light. The vehicle would not travel more than 5mph. I had to park it and have my husband come look at it. It’s scary to think this could have easily happened on a busy highway. Being a hybrid vehicle it was fully charged from the night before.
