68C recall did not fix recurring issue with this vehicle: 12/2/25 – The vehicle was towed to the dealer under Safety Recall 68C (battery fire risk) in an undrivable state “service charging system” message, vehicle would not disengage from Park, no power, battery, charging, service engine lights on. 12/18/25 – The dealer informed me that Recall 68C had been completed, stated that the vehicle was repaired and safe to drive, and told me to “rest assured.” I was instructed to pick up the vehicle on that basis, and I did so. 12/20/25 – Just two days later, while driving approximately 60 mph on the highway in electric mode with more than 90% charge, the vehicle suddenly lost electric propulsion for over 30 seconds, rapidly losing speed and nearly requiring an emergency stop in active traffic. A dash notification appeared stating “electric mode unavailable,” and the vehicle reverted to hybrid mode....

I have experienced at least five times in which my vehicle does not start and a "service charging system" error message shows on the dash resulting in the vehicle having to be towed to Newport Jeep in Middletown RI for service. Every recall that has been issue has been "fixed"- my hybrid battery has been replaced, my high voltage wire has been replaced. I tried to pursue a buyback request and was rejected in March 2025. I am aware of the 68C safety recall and that there is no repair at this time. Again on 12/9/25 my vehicle would not start, the "service charging system" error message was on the dash and my vehicle has had to be towed back to the dealership. They are not able to diagnose the issue. I want to pursue a buyback as this vehicle is defective and unsafe.

I received the recall of my leased vehicle and I immediately called Chrysler Stelantis and was told that there was nothing they could do. This recall materially restricts the safe use of my leased vehicle. I request early termination of my lease without penalty OR a replacement vehicle. I am a 100% disabled veteran and cannot comply with the recall’s conditions They stated that they will take back my lease but I will be penalized for the early termination and also for any recoupment of the vehicle when it goes to auction. This is unacceptable and has placed myself, my family,, my residence and other vehicles in danger. I cannot abide by the recall.

I have been leasing this vehicle for approximately 3 years and have experienced constant engine problems; knocking and jolting forward. There have been four safety recalls and I mentioned the engine issues at the dealership. I was told not use the electric engine and keep the car in gas mode. This has not fixed the problem; it jolts forward randomly which is very scary. I only have this one vehicle and a small child. I am not comfortable driving this car with my son in it. And now I received another recall notice for severe fire risk and no remedy available. I am making (expensive) lease payments for a car that is not safe to drive.

My 4xe goes into turtle mode several times a week and loses power as I am driving. I have contact jeep and 2 dealerships regarding this several times and they said since they can't duplicate it, there is nothing they can do. Has been happening for over a year.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the message "Performance Issue" was displayed, and a red light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact stated that months prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System) by the same dealer. The contact related the failure to the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. After stopping the car and shutting it off it will not restart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C....

I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at...

The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk.

The engine lost power while driving and was almost T-boned the first time the issue happened. No warning lights were present before the loss of power. I was leaving a stop sign and crossing traffic did not have to stop. The posted speed limit for the cross street is 40 MPH. The dealership updated the software, and the Wrangler 4XE was returned the same day. Less than two weeks later, the loss of motive power occurred again. The dealership had the vehicle for almost 40 days and replaced the high-voltage battery pack. About 50 miles after the car was returned, the check engine light came on. I was almost home when this happened and had the 4XE towed for the third time. Texan Jeep claims they had engineers from Jeep look at the vehicle while it was in the shop for an extended period of time. These vehicles are not...

ON [XXX] My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid was parked in my carport. Around [XXX] I started smelling something burning so got up to check the house and then went to the garage to check our cars. On checking the Jeep I noticed that the inside of the cabin was filling with smoke. I immediately called 911 and as I was on the phone with them the Jeep spontaneously burst into flames on the inside. The Fire department arrived shortly after. They began flooding the jeep with water and had to drag it out of our car port. Once they had it away from the house the continued to flush it with water and also placed a fire retardant blanket over the top of it to contain the fire. It continued to burn for several more hours until a tow truck arrived to take it to a yard. The fire truck...

My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.
#11636113 |
The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank . I am concerned that if I’m involved in a rear end accident that it may cause an explosion such as what has happened to previous jeeps that had the exhaust system ran underneath the gas tank.

Dec 23 took mine in for recall service. Had no issues prior to having this done. Pick up the same day. Was told passed the drive test. Drove to work Dec 24th (26 miles round trip) no issues. Did not drive on Christmas. Placed it to charge that night, for drive to work the 26th. Noticed it did not charge completely. On the way in to work service light came on. Time to leave work, it would not start. Dash had the service charging station. Waited a few minutes. Then it did finally start. Tried to place it in esave. It would not go. Regeneration went off. It drove horrible. Slow acceleration, especially from a complete stop. Got it home and had it towed to a different dealership that had performed the update. Was told a module is bad and they are keeping it until the 30th to check for...

Wife was going to work. Started to notice difference in the feel of the drive. Then the check engine light came on. When she started to accelerate the vehicle jerks. When the vehicle is at a stop then accelerates the it takes about 5 seconds for the car to start moving. Today the vehicle turns on but can’t switch gears to put it in reverse or drive. Vehicle is a paper wait and the earliest time I can take in to a certified mechanic is 1 month. I’ve had multiple issues with this car. Death wobble, electric recalls. And a recall that stated part not available park your car not in your garage and don’t charge your hybrid…. How can this car be allowed on the streets with this many issues under 2 years

When applying brakes at low speed (under 20mph) pedal feels soft and brakes do not engage as expected- vehicles travels further than anticipated. At times engine races and vehicle surges forward, other times ABS malfunctions, causing tires to squeal and vehicle to lurch. There is no reason for the ABS to engage when traveling under 20mph on an even, dry road. I have had other issues such as overheating, which the dealership observed, but the computer had no trouble codes for, so I would be happy to have it inspected. The vehicle surging forward when brakes are applied is a safety concern, as is unreliable braking and the ABS engaging inappropriately. I have not been to the dealer for this issue yet, I was able to document the occurrence from my dashboard cam this weekend. I have video in my dashcam with the squealing and lurching that I can't upload.

I have a wrangler 4Xe that I purchased August 2022. Yesterday the Jeep went dead while driving 30mph. This already happened 2 times

My vehicle has been nearly underivable since purchased. Several times I have taken the car in for things like: No power. The car will drive, but slowly and with no "get up and go". It takes quite a bit of time to get to legal driving speed. This has happened on a highway at least once, and multiple times on regular roads. My electrical system has failed, and all components, including my battery, has shut down. This happened on the highway on my way to work. I lost time at work as well as my car for 34 days. (This is the second time it has happened). My gas tank cover refusing to open/my gas tank refusing to accept gas. My electric battery getting too hot and burning through wires, including my coolant tubes, which in turn, shut my car down. This happened on a major road. All of these...

Recall #95B one of many since I purchased my vehicle. Cannot use it for what it was purchased for which was to use electric and save gas money. Now recall states not to plug in vehicle and that it can catch fire and explode at any time running or not. I am scared to death to drive this vehicle and have my child anywhere near it. And it is our only vehicle which costs me over $1000 a month payment I can barely afford. Its causing us extreme stress and anxiety. I have been trying for months to get rid of this vehicle which has dropped over 50% in the value.

Upon purchase of the Jeep, within 8K miles, the fuel pump went out and left me stranded. Now, at 27k miles, the car has been undriveable for 4 months. The engine will not accelerate, causing near collisions on highways. Over 13k in repairs are currently in place and there is still no resolution.

There was a prior recall where if there was discoloring or charring of the battery terminal a new battery was suppose to be installed. I reported this and showed the damage, and they just cleaned the terminals and sent me down the road. Now that these are burning houses down I would like to get out of this lease, its almost up anyway.

22’ JEEP 4xE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER Vehicle wouldn’t start for approximately 15 minutes. Showed charging system error and a battery light was on. Once vehicle started it was driven 5 minutes, parked and turned off. Within 30 minutes it was started again, and driven down the street when it lost power and indicated the speed was limited. I attempted to turn around to get back and park it when it quit in the middle of an intersection. Vehicle had a message to put it in park. I did. It wouldn’t restart or go into neutral to even push it out of the road. After about 10 minutes it started and I drove it back. It kept losing throttle and rolled opposite direction down a hill while in gear and still running. The throttle intermittently would work and rev then move forward. I backed it uphill into my driveway with...

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, I purchased the vehicle new on [XXX] (purchased in TN, registered in VA). Since owning the vehicle it has been in the shop 9 times, most recently in the shop because it was completely dead and they found out the battery was leaking acid, this is the same battery they had just replaced a year earlier. It has lost all power and shut off several times, Jeep continues to say there is no issue. The loss of power is concerning because it happens when driving on busy roadways. I filed 2 lemon claims with them, both times offered $2800 for inconveniences and $3600 the last time. I have also been instructed to park the vehicle outside of my garage and told it might be a good idea to not charge it daily due to a fire hazard, when buying a hybrid, I...

My 2023 Jeep 4XE shut down in the middle of the highway in Arizona while traveling at 65 mph. The dashboard displayed an error message: “Service Charging System.” Shortly after, the vehicle experienced a total loss of power, and the screen instructed, “Put in park to start vehicle,” with a flashing “D” on the gear indicator. This has happed before in a 2022 that we traded in because we didn't feel safe driving. We have a service appointment 8/7/24 at Larry H miller Jeep in Avondale AZ.

I have received at least three 19A recall notices for my vehicle. Each time I call the dealer to schedule an appointment they tell me they have to order the part, they will call when it is in and that they are only allowed to order a certain number of parts each week. Still waiting on that call back! Yesterday when I called and was given the same "we'll order and call you", and "no I don't see anything previously ordered for you", the service clerk also told me that the 19A recall was not a big deal, not a safety issue and I didn't need to be concerned. Seriously? I don't know what else to do. I am afraid to drive this vehicle that I spent a ridiculous amount of money for. Someone should be holding Stellantis accountable. E-torque battery issue. My e-torque battery was having issues for 20k miles that caused a “stored” code to appear saying the e-torque had a fault. I started bringing in the wrangler at 35,500 miles still under bumper to bumper warranty but because it was a stored code there was no repair order issued. This continued until around 50k miles when the jeep started shutting off at low speeds. The dealer took it in and Jeep Corporate stated that because it was still a stored code they would not release the battery pack needed for the repair. The dealer fought the warranty department for 3 weeks holding on to my vehicle. They eventually returned the car to me un-repaired per Jeep Corp instruction. The check engine light came on days after it was returned to me. No repair but documented at dealer. 12 days after the car was repaired it died...

05/03/2024: while driving my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe the vehicle unexpectedly had a complete loss of power resulting in my Jeep shutting down without warning. The warning light “service hybrid electrical system” illuminated after the I attempted to restart it. My Jeep would not restart or engage out of park. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it remains in the same exact spot with no repair or identified problem. FCA/Stellantis is aware as I have an open case with Jeep Cares who really don’t seem to care. This complete loss of power could have resulted in a severe accident putting myself, passengers, and other drivers on the road at risk as there was no prior warning.

Vehicle has had multiple instances of lurching forward and/or not even moving when gas pedal is pressed. Several of these instances have occurred when coming to a stop or when trying to start from a stop. When the brake would be pressed the vehicle would jump forward. In one very memorable occurrence I was at a 4 way intersection coming to a stop and the vehicle lurched forward into the intersection almost hitting another vehicle. It also has issues when pressing the gas, you will give is gas and it won’t go anywhere and then all of a sudden lurch forward. We have several instances of a hard transmission shift where the vechile will “buck” and jar you into your seat. Vehicle has been to 3 dealerships, all state nothing is wrong, no codes were thrown.

My 2022 4xe has been in the shop a total of 10 months due to engine shut down, (slamming to a stop while driving along w/ auto park engaging). All of this started after having the 22V865 recall preformed in 2023. The dealership has yet to figure out the remedy, despite popping multiple codes. This is a SERIOUS SAFETY issue that could ultimate kill someone, if Stellantis continues to turn a blind eye. The dealership released my Jeep unfixed, I am now looking for another dealership who may have an idea how to correct the problems.

We ordered in April 2022, a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sahara plug-in hybrid, arriving late May 2022. In mid-June 2024, when starting the Jeep, it went into "limp" or "safe" mode. The Samsung EV battery was fully charged, indicating a 99% charge available, which translates to an approximate 24 mile range on the EV motor. The check engine light (CEL) came on as well as a "charging system failure" message came on in the center of the message center. The Jeep dealership in Temecula, CA, received the Jeep, which would only operate on the Internal Combustion Engine, and even then at 50% of available power, with the a/c system non-operable. The Internal Combustion Engine would not respond to throttle input, where it would not start (from engine off mode) more than a dozen times while en route to the Jeep dealership. It was unsafe being at the front of a...

My vehicle has a recall for the High pressure fuel pump. While driving the engine light and cruise control light will turn automatically and then go away consecutively. Yes, the issue has been confirmed and inspected by the manufacturer and the dealership in which I purchased my vehicle. The vehicle will stall when running or randomly turn off and smell like smoke. I have made 3 appointments in which the dealership will advise me to drop my vehicle off and once I arrive they tell me they do not have the parts. I called the manufacturer and they advised they receive the parts every 7 days. I have contacted the dealership and I will not get a response. I'm scared for my safety and others. The contact stated she would appreciate a response and assistance with a recall for the vehicle.

Had to go in to repair a coolant leak, power train issue with the driveshaft and suspension.
#11574556 |
When starting from a complete stop with the car in drive (usually from a stop light/sign), the dash will go completely black and come back online with initial guidance to place the car in park before starting the engine followed by "Service Transmission". Once put into park, it cannot be released into neutral to move out of danger - it's truly stuck. Based on 4XE forums, this is not a unique problem. When completely shut off and restarted, it behaves as normal. This has happened twice on the same vehicle and no error code is generated for service.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. Upon taking the vehicle in for emissions testing, the vehicle failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the speed sensor. The vehicle was repaired; however, the vehicle failed the emissions test. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to determine a failure, but informed the contact that it might be related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V767000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine) and advised the contact to drive the vehicle for 700 miles before returning. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V767000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine) and the VIN was included, and parts were ordered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 20,000.

Engine speed became limited while driving and abruptly slowed down to 10 MPH while driving on the streets almost causing an incident for myself and others. Once car was stopped loud noises would come from Hybrid cooling system as if it was overheating upon start up. Dealer confirmed inspection and fixed hybrid cooling system which was covered under warranty. 3 weeks later after fix, vehicle engine light came on again and car had to be in service for another warranty issue connected to the fuel line. No warning lights, messages or symptoms of problems before incident happened. My family and I are terrified from the first incident and the 2nd engine light coming on only a few weeks later has confirmed our concerns that jeep has made a faulty product and these vehicles should be recalled.

With this recall and no repair, I no longer feel safe driving my Jeep and being that the recall notice states not to park near other vehicles or buildings/structures is another safety concern. It lunges upon first driving as well.

Water pump failure during cold weather event down to 20F, told by dealership that plastic hose adapter integral to the pump had cracked. Resulted in catastrophic loss of coolant while driving. Coolant reservoir is opaque and pressurized so level could not be verified while hot. Replaced under warranty.

Vehicle again experienced ‘high-speed’ stalling with rapid de-acceleration + additional loss of power steering + transmission lock. Due to lack of brake lights upon rapid de-acceleration, nearly caused trailing vehicle to rear-end the subject Jeep Wrangler and swerve into oncoming traffic. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership due to unable to start and transmission lock. Video provided of event. Dealership advised could not repeat failure, manufacturer refused to open case with engineering. Software update applied.

I was driving and at a red light the car just stopped working. It was stuck in park and did not want to shift gears. I kept getting a warning message to push the brake and push start but nothing happened. I was stuck in the middle of the road and was put in a dangerous situation. I kept turning the car on and off and eventually 30 minutes later it started.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shook excessively. The failure was described as the death wobble. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and several cases were filed. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

I was going approximately 60 mph on MN Highway 100 S in the far right lane, driving with a half full tank of gas and <1% battery in “hybrid” mode, when suddenly and error message saying “service charging system” error appeared in red on the driver console and all engine acceleration stopped working. The vehicle then displayed a message to shift to P to start the engine. But it wouldn’t let me shift to P while going 50+ mph. I managed to coast to a relatively safe area on the shoulder of the highway with minimal disruption of traffic, bring the car to a full stop, and restart the engine. However if I had been in the far left lane of the highway instead of the far right, or in a section without a safe shoulder, this event could have been the start of a major accident, endangering myself and...

My 2022 4xe Rubicon has been at the shop for 60 days now for slamming in to a dead stop while driving over 8 -18 mph. This happened 4 times early in the morning trying to drive to work. The dealership towed it in that morning, but failed to look at it for over 2 weeks. - they thought it was just in for regular maintenance. - during this time multiple warning lights were on (CEL and ETC, etc) . To date, they can not recreate this frightening situation or pull up any codes. I could have killed somebody, had I made it to a busy road. I had the 22V-865 recall done in Feb 2023, which CLEARLY did NOT work. I have taken my 22 Wrangler in 3 times to the dealership to fix the engine overheating, each time it was a different component until they said we need an entire new engine. Safety of us was overheated engine without a warning on the highway going 70+ speeds. I have heard several other stories of 21 and 22 wranglers overheating, I am not sure why a recall hasn't been issued.

I was driving on the highway and my Jeep shook for a moment and then the D started blinking and there were 2 lights that came on. One was the battery light and the other one was the charging light. There was also an on screen message about a charging problem and to pull over safely. I was on the highway and this was very dangerous as the car was slowing down with cars behind me. I managed to pull over on the side of the highway and stopped my car safely . I turned off my car restarted it. I then got off the highway and made it home safely via the back roads. I made an appointment with the dealership but this was very unsafe and almost caused an accident. Please investigate as as I have seen many other reports of this online. Thanks.
