OIL FILTER AND COOLER LEAKING OIL ALL OVER ENGINE AND EXHAUST THE FUMES FROM BURNING OIL ALL INSIDE THE CABINE
OIL FILTER HOUSING AND COOLER UNIT CRACKED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DOWN ON TOP OF EXHAUST POSING A FIRE HAZARD.
I DEVELOPED A OIL LEAK DUE TO THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE OIL COOLER/FILTER HOUSING DEVELOPING A CRACK ON MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THIS IS CAUSING OIL TO DRIP ON THE EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND POSING A FIRE RISK.
MASSIVE OIL LEAK COVERING ENTIRE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE 68105583AF ADAPTER - ENGINE OIL FILTER
STARTED UP MY VEHICLE TO TAKE DAUGHTER TO THE BUS. DROVE 20 YARDS TO THE ROAD TO WAIT ON THE BUS BACKED UP MY JEEP AND SHUT IT OFF AFTER SHE GOT ON THE BUS. OIL WAS EVERYWHERE. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING COOLER OR WHATEVER HE CALLED IT WAS BROKEN. APPARENTLY FROM WHAT HE TOLD ME AND WHAT I READ THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2014 MODEL. KNOWING IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM AND A VITAL PIECE OF THE JEEP FUNCTIONALITY, WHY IS IT MADE OF PLASTIC AND WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON IT? MY JEEP LITERALLY LOST ALL OIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCLARTY DANIEL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2201 SE MOBERLY LN, BENTONVILLE, AR 72712, (479) 250-3900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
OIL FILTER ADAPTER CRACKED, NOW LEAKING OIL.
NOTICED OIL ON MY DRIVEWAY TWO MONTHS AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED. JEEP ONLY HAD 41K MILES ON IT, RESULTING IN A $1050 REPAIR COST TO REPLACE. I NORMALLY TAKE IT TO AN OIL CHANGE PLACE (MR GOOD LUBE), BUT THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON MY JEEP THIS TIME SINCE THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS OIL FILTER HOUSING ISSUE (AND I AM GUESSING HAVE BEEN BLAMED). I TOOK IT TO MY NORMAL MECHANIC INSTEAD FOR THE OIL CHANGE. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE OIL STARTED LEAKING SO WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.
VEHICLE WAS SMOKING AND LEAKING OIL AT VARIOUS TIMES. DEALER IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE AS A CRACKED OIL COOLER.
MY CAR RECENTLY STARTED A TICKING NOISE THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY. TICKING INCREASES WHILE VEHICLE ACCELERATES.
AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES WHILE ON A HIGHWAY MY JEEP SUDDENLY SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING AND I LOST ACCELERATION ON IT. TOOK IT TO MY LIFE TIME MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS OIL SLUDGE EVERYWHERE ON THE ENGINE. HE CHANGED THE OIL OUT, CLEANED OUT THE ENGINE BUT DIDN'T FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE OIL TANK OR HOSES. A YEAR LATER, NOW AT 40,000 MILES, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY COMES ON. MECHANIC READS A "MISFIRE" ERROR. HE CHANGES OUT ALL MY SPARK PLUGS, THE IGNITION COIL AND THE PLENUM GASKET. CLEANS OUT THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THE CAR IS HUMMING BEAUTIFULLY AGAIN. BUT 5 DAYS LATER, AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. MECHANIC CHECKS EVERYTHING HE DID AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HE RESEARCHED AND THINKS IT COULD BE THE EXHAUST VALVE SEATS BEING WORN OUT. RECOMMENDS I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. LOW...
OIL FILTER ADAPTER PART NO. 68105583AA FAILS AND CAUSES OIL LEAK.
CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING UNIT. FOLLOWING A REGULAR OIL CHANGE.
OIL PRESSURE SWITCH HAS GONE OUT. MY JEEP HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE OIL PRESSURE IS FINE AND YET I NEED TO REPLACE THIS $45 SWITCH WHICH WILL I'M BEING TOLD WILL TAKE 4 HOURS BY THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE. THIS CAME ON AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE. DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A CODE 520. PARTS MANAGER STATED THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND ON CARS WITH LESS THA. 10,000 MILES.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY (ACCORDING TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP) MY OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED AND LEAKED MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE ENGINE'S OIL INTO THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED IN 10 MINUTES AND EXTREMELY OVERHEATED THE ENGINE FROM THE TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFELY PARK. THE OIL MIXING WITH THE COOLANT CAUSED IT TO TURN INTO A THICK MUD-LIKE CONSISTENCY THAT CLOGGED UP THE COOLING SYSTEM AND AFTER LETTING IT COOL DOWN I OPENED THE RADIATOR THEN A THICK BROWN OILY/COOLANT MIXTURE SEEPED OUT OF THE RADIATOR. SO THE RADIATOR WAS HOLDING PRESSURE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OIL COOLER HOUSING UNDER WARRANTY ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR HOSES BUT IS NOW SAYING MY RADIATOR HAS A HOLE IN IT AND NOT HOLDING PRESSURE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO COVER IT UNDER...
OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED. THIS OCCURRED AT LESS THAN 40,000. I WAS LUCKY THAT I NOTICED IT IN MY GARAGE RATHER THEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FOR REPAIRS. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THEME WITH THE 2014S. COME ON FCA CAN YOU SERIOUSLY CANT FIX THIS ISSUE. CASTING SAND FROM THE HEADS HAS CONTAMINATED THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM LEADING TO MY RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE BECOMING CLOGGED WITH SEDIMENT.
OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS CAUSING OIL TO LEAK. GIVEN THE RELATIVELY SLOW BUT CONSISTENT LEAK THIS PROBLEM CAN GO VERY EASILY UNNOTICED BUT RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND ULTIMATELY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. IF THIS PART COMPLETELY FAILS THERE MAY BE NO WARNING TIME AND CAUSE ENGINE SEIZE AND/OR PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE. PART HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE IN MANY 2014 AND OTHER YEAR JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AND VEHICLES SUSPECTED TO HAVE THIS PART INSPECTED FOR LEAKING OIL. IN MY SCENARIO I NOTICED DRIPPING OIL FROM AROUND BOTH SIDES OF THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING BUT UNABLE TO TRACE TO THE SOURCE AT FIRST. AFTER READING A FEW FORUMS I LOOKED DOWN ALONG SIDE THE OIL FILTER HOUSING AND FOUND A PUDDLE OF OIL LAYING IN THE VALLEY OF THE ENGINE. MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS VERY SAME...
OIL FILTER HOUSING LEAK. $700 REPAIR. THIS IS A PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED FOR GOOD WITH SOMETHING THAT WILL ACTUALLY HOLD UP. THIS PIECE FAILED AT 60000 MILES...

BOUGHT MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT IN APRIL 2017, IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 44,000 MILES. I NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNT OIL, I HAVENT CHANGED THE OIL RECENTLY. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS AS THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER IS CRACKED. IDENTIFIED AS PART NUMBER 68105583AA. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE, AND ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS I HAVE READ A CONTINUING PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS? MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS REPLACED THE PART WITH PART 68105583AE. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. I HATE TO SPEND ALMOST 30,000 DOLLARS AND HAVE TO REPAIR IT AFTER DRIVINF IT 7,000 MILES. COMPLETE DISSAPOINTMENT.

TAKATA RECALL VEHICLE WAS IN PARK NOTICED OIL DROPS ON CONCRETE INSPECTION UNDER THE JEEP SHOWED NO LEAKS WENT TO JEEP FORUM DISCOVERED LEAK WAS AT TOP, THE PLASTIC OIL COOLER WAS THE PROBLEM, OIL DRIPS DOWN INTO A V TYPE RESERVOIR SO THEREFORE WHEN YOU TAKE OFF AT THE RESERVOIR FULL OF OIL NOW BLOWS ALL UNDER THE MOTOR. WENT ON TO JEEP FORUM AND NOTICED THAT THE COMPLAINT HAD BEEN DONE NUMEROUS TIMES BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHERE THE PART BEFORE USED TO BE MADE OUT OF METAL WAS NOW BEING MADE OUT OF PLASTIC SO THE PART IS FAULTY AND NEEDS LOOKED INTO THANK YOU

CRACKED OIL COOLER RELEASED EXTREME AMOUNTS OF OIL INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THROUGHOUT ENGINE AND UNDERCARRIAGE. THE OIL SPILL REPRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR NOT ONLY ROAD/PAVEMENT SLIP HAZARD AND BRAKE CONTAMINATION BUT ALSO PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD AS IT OCCURS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR ELECTRICAL AND HEATED ELEMENTS. AFTER SCHEDULING REPLACEMENT, PART IS OUT OF STOCK DUE TO HEAVY DEMAND FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR. AFTER CALLING MULTIPLE PART SUPPLIERS AND DEALERS IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THIS YEAR ONLY.
OIL LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE - LOOKS TO BE UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.
ENGINE LEAKS OIL FROM THE "OIL FILTER ADAPTER" THAT IS CRACKED. THE OIL LEAKS ONTO THE MANIFOLD AND GETS REALLY HOT CAUSING A BURNING SMELL. IT COULD POTENTIALLY SET A FIRE TO THE ENGINE. I NOTICED THIS BECAUSE OF THE STRONG BURNING SMELL AND THE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE.
CORNER OF RADIATOR WAS LEAKING COOLANT, FOUND BY DEALERSHIP ON INSPECTION. NOTED BY THE DEALER AS A COMMON DEFECT FOR RADIATORS IN THIS MODEL RANGE AND THEY SEE IT A LOT.

OIL COOLER KEEPS CRACKING CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DOWN MY ENGINE, POTENTIALLY DRAINING ENGINE OF OIL WHILE DRIVING AND CATCHING FIRE. CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE YET WILL NOT RECALL THE PART. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING INJURED OR A DEATH TO OCCUR IN ORDER TO RECALL A FAULTY PART? I'VE ALREADY HAD A JEEP DEALER REPLACE THE OIL COOLER AND IT SEEMS THAT IT'S GOING TO CONTINUE TO CRACK AND LEAK OIL EVERYWHERE DOWN MY ENGINE. THE FLASH POINT OF MOTOR OIL IS 232 DEGREES AND MY ENGINE GETS AS HOT AS 230 DEGREES WHEN PULLING A TRAILER ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS BEYOND FRIGHTENING TO THINK MY ENGINE COULD CATCH FIRE WHILE MY FAMILY AND I ARE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DUE TO JEEPS FAULTY PART.
VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER REGULAR SERVICE AT THE DEALER. RETURNED TO HAVE IT CHECKED, WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THE LOCATION OF THE SENSOR REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, FUEL INJECTOR'S AND RAILS, ETC., RESULTING IN APPROX. 4 HOURS OF LABOR AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY HAVE "SEEN THOUSANDS OF THESE SENSOR'S FAIL ON THE 3.6 ENGINE". THERE IS A TSB; 18-034-14 REV. A, DOCUMENTING COMPLAINTS. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS 41K MILES ON IT, THE DEALER WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FACT THERE APPARENTLY IS NO RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE ITEM. THE OIL FILTER HOUSING HAS CRACKED AT 18,000 MILES
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP ON THE ROAD I NOTICED SMOKE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED ASIDE AND SEEN NOTOR OIL LEAK. APPAREANTLY JEEP CRYSLER K OW ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH OIL COOLER HOUSING LEAKING. THEY HAD A BACK ORDER ON THE PART AND SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS PARTICULAR JEEP MODEL AND YEAR ACCORDING TO MANY JEEP FORUMS ONLINE. LUCKLY I NOTICED SMOKE OTHERWISE COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE OR COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE JEEP ONLY HAS 37K MILES AND THIS SEEMS TO BE WHEN OTHERS HAD ISSUES.
THE OIL COOLER HOUSING HAS CRACKED ON MY 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. AS PER THE DEALERSHIP THIS IS A PART THAT IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND THERE IS NO RELIABLE AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT.
LEAK FROM THE MOTOR OIL COOLER HOUSING, ON THE 3.6L PENTASTAR V6 ENGINE FROM A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. THE OIL COOLER HOUSING WAS REVISED IN THE 2014 MODEL YEAR FROM A METAL PART TO A PLASTIC PART. MINE STARTED LEAKING AT 20998 MILES. THE LEAK IS IDENTIFIED PRIMARILY BY A POOL OF OIL FORMING IN THE "V" AT THE BASE OF THE COOLER HOUSING, AND MOTOR OIL RUNNING DOWN OFF THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING AND AROUND THE TRANSMISSION PAN (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE LEAK IS NOT A TRANSMISSION LEAK, IT IS AN OIL LEAK FROM THE MOTOR OIL COOLER HOUSING.
NOTICED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH FOUND THAT IT'S OIL LEAKING FROM THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY THEN RETURNED HOME AND NOTICED OIL ON THE GARAGE FLOOR.
TODAY HAD ISSUES WITH MY JEEP SMOKING WHILE DRIVING ON SOME TRAILS IN NEW MEXICO. FOUND SOME OIL UNDERNEATH THE MOTOR NEAR THE TRANSMISSION. COULD NOT FIND THE LEAK SO CAME BACK AND DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MANY JEEP OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. I FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER/JEEP HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR OIL FILTER/COOLER HOUSING SINCE 2013/2014. I HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAVE MADE 3+ ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THIS PART BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO HAVE ALL OF THESE REPLACED. FROM THE MECHANICS I'VE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE ISSUE IS QUITE DANGEROUS. THE OIL LEAKS FROM THIS HOUSING DOWN INTO THE "V" OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE VALVES AND SITS THERE WITH THE POTENTIAL OF CATCHING FIRE AND BURNING THE VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS. IMPROPER DESIGN OF OIL COOLING UNIT - WEAK AND INCAPABLE OF REPEATED MAINTENANCE STRESSES. SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE WITH LOCAL AUTO MAINTENANCE SHOP REVEALED SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF OIL COATING REAR OF ENGINE, TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING, AND LIGHT SHEEN OF OIL COATING MANY COMPONENTS ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE. POOLED OIL ON THE ENGINE BLOCK AT THE FRONT, DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH OIL FILTER HOUSING. HOURS OF INTERNET RESEARCH LEADS ME TO MULTIPLE JEEP MESSAGE FORUMS WITH SIMILAR/IDENTICAL SCENARIO. EVERY OWNER FINDS CAUSE IN FAULTY/COMPROMISED "ADAPTER-ENGINE OIL FILTER" JEEP PART NUMBER 68105583AA. NOTED THAT THIS PART HAS BEEN UPGRADED/REVISED TO AN AE DESIGNATION, THUS REVEALING THAT JEEP KNOWS THIS PART TO BE FAULTY AND/OR OF INADEQUATE DESIGN. JEEP WRANGLER EFFECTED. 2014 WITH 17000 MILES THE OIL FILTER/OIL COOLER HOUSING FAILED AND LEAKED 3QTS OF OIL IN LESS THEN 24HOURS. THE OIL WAS CHANGED 5 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALER CLAIMED THE OIL FILTER WAS PUT ON TO TIGHT WHICH CAUSED CRACKS IN THE HOUSING AND WOULD NOT COMPLETE THE WORK UNDER WARRENTY. AFTER THE REPAIR I REQUESTED TO KEEP THE PART THAT WAS TAKEN OUT. AFTER CLOSE EXAMINATION AND USING COMPRESSED AIR TO SEE IF I COULD FIND A CRACK THERE WAS CRACK TO BE FOUND. ONLY THING I COULD SEE THAT COULD CAUSE A LEAK WAS A MISSING GASKET ON BOTTON OF HOUSE.
MY COOLANT STARTED LEAKING AND MY THREE YEAR OLD JEEP NEEDED A NEW RADIATOR. THE GARBAGE LIMITED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER PRODUCTS OF COURSE WOULD NOT COVER.
ARRIVED HOME IN VEHICLE AND HAD A STRONG ODOR OF BURNING OIL. IMMEDIATELY SAW A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE VEHICLE AND OIL ON THE EXHAUST WAS SMOKING. THE OIL FILTER/COOLER HOUSING HAD BEGUN LEAKING. THIS VEHICLE HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT AND NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PART FAILURE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT. THE AMOUNT OF OIL IT LOST IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FIRE. THERE WAS OVER 1/2 INCH OF OIL IN THE VALLEY BETWEEN THE HEADS AND OIL HAD BLOWN FROM THE MOTOR TO THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THIS PART IS CONVENIENTLY NOT COVERED UNDER THE 5 YR 100,000 MILE ENGINE WARRANTY AND THE DEALER SAID THE PART HAS NOT BEEN UPGRADED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE STATIONARY, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING OIL AND NOTICED THAT OIL HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
TRANSFER CASE REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK AS DIAGNOSED BY TWO DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERSHIPS (JEEP OF HOLLYWOOD AND MASSEY YARDLEY JEEP). I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN TWICE FOR REPAIR AND THE LEAK CONTINUES (02/24/2017 [HOLLYWOOD JEEP] AND 03/08/2017 [MASSEY YARDLEY]). THE CAR IS IN FOR REEVALUATION AND REPAIR AS I AM WRITING THIS MAKING IT THE THIRD TIME IN THREE WEEKS THE CAR IS BEING REPAIRED FOR THE SAME ISSUE (03/17/2017 [MASSEY YARDLEY]). THIS INVOLVES THE MOTOR OIL IN THE VEHICLE AND LEAKS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IDLE OR BEING DRIVEN. ONCE THE WRANGLER IS DRIVEN THE THE OIL HEATS UP, AND THINS OUT, CAUSING THE OIL TO LEAK IN LARGER AMOUNTS AND FASTER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE LEAKING OIL CAN START AN ENGINE FIRE OR TOO MUCH OIL LOST CAN CAUSE AN ENGINE TO BE DAMAGED OR EVEN SEIZE. JEEP CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN...
ENGINE OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKING AND LEAKING OIL. I HAVE HAD IT IN TWICE IN 3 MONTHS TO HAVE THE HOUSING REPLACED. I KNOW OF OTHERS WITH THIS YEAR, 2014, JEEP WRANGLER THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. YOU CAN SMELL THE OIL ON THE EXHAUST AND SEE THE OIL DRIPPING UNDER THE VEHICLE. I HAVE THE DEALER REPAIR ORDERS AND PARTS REPLACED AND THEY ARE THE SAME BOTH TIMES. NOW, WORRIED IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN EVEN AFTER MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT AND WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. JEEP SHOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY AS LONG AS I OWN IT OR PERMANENTLY FIX THE COOLER PROBLEM ON THESE MODELS.
NOTICED POOL OF OIL UNDER MY JEEP AND UPON CLOSER INSPECTION OBSERVED OIL DRIPPING FROM BACK SIDE OF ENGINE ONTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. IT APPEARS THE LEAK IS COMING FROM THE OIL FILTER HOUSING, AS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE ON THIS MODEL. UPON CONTACTING THE DEALER ABOUT THE PART, I WAS TOLD THERE IS A NATION-WIDE BACKORDER OF ABOUT 10,000 PARTS.
