Vehicle acts like it wants to shut off. No warnings or check engine lights it just starts to shake and not let me accelerate. Auto shop looked at it and engine and transmission are ok. They look ed at it 6 times in 4 months and it just keeps happening. Now car is leaking oil and they can’t figure out where from, they replaced oil pan me anything relating to it so not sure what’s wrong. Also, clicking sound from air vent seems to be a electrical issue. Key is starting to bend from ignition shape also. We replaced the key multiple times. New brakes and new rotors but car screeches and sounds like brakes are old but they’re brand new. Car sounds like struggling when accelerators.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle momentarily shut off, causing the vehicle to decelerate unintendedly. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Crankshaft positioning sensor caused car to randomly stall out multiple times.
Sitting at a red light with foot on brake and auto “jumped” happened quickly do not know If any warning lights were on. It seams to now be not not shifting property resulting in a lag in power
My air bag light keeps blinking off and on and my hood keeps rattling from coming loose in the front. And just like everyone my transmission doesn't act right they should have done recalled this car it was totally not worth 25000 dollars
Problems started when the wheel and axel came off the vehicle on a side road 3 years ago. The vehicle dropped a wheel again when crossing the country a month later. Both incidents included my wife and passengers. That at least seems resolved. At 28900 miles or so we have been wrestling for the last year and some with intermittently all the warning lights coming on and now the car will occasionally lose all power while in motion. So we have taken it to the dealership where they say it requires a replacement of the electrical harness. Topping off, the driver seat rest safety mechanism deployed randomly this last week while the vehicle was parked in the driveway.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle repeatedly stalled while driving. The contact pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. The contact restarted the vehicle after a few minutes and drove to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 166,666.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. Additionally, several unknown warning lights and the ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred a year prior. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a front wheel bearing failure and the front wheel bearing was replaced. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 76,140.
Last night was the 3rd time my family's safety was threatened by a malfunction in my 2016 Jeep Patriot (manual). When driving, the car started to stall out as if I'm changing gears badly, but wasn't doing so. Next, it stalled completely without any dashlight notices. I was forced to pop it out of gear to give some control to the steering (something I learned after the 1st time it happened). Then, I coasted to the side of the road while maneuvering moving traffic! The 1st 2 times this happened I was in local traffic and it almost caused an accident. Last night, I was in the center of I95 with rushing traffic. Terrifying! Each time the car has had to be towed and the crankshaft sensor has been the culprit. It is in the shop today (June 1, 2024) and that's the problem again! The dealership says the recall...
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that on two occasions while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after an hour each time. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. On another occasion, the contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 MPH, she observed a winding noise emanating from the engine compartment. The contacts stated that the vehicle lost motive power and failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
from the day I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] of 2023. I immediately heard a rattling noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. I also noticed that the transmission had been catching or slipping or missing whenever it transfers gears it is getting worse by the day I have taken it to the original dealership at MNF auto sales in Albuquerque and I have also taken it to the Larry Miller Jeep in Albuquerque New Mexico. They claim that the only thing wrong with the vehicle is the motor mounts after I left with my vehicle from being repaired, it continues to happen, and the transmission is getting worse day by day , I am afraid if I keep driving it much longer that it may cause an accident or damage the vehicle severely. I am trying to work with the dealership and they are telling me that...
I kept getting a check engine light on my dash even after taking it in for oil changes in the past year on and off and none of them caught what seemed to be the main issue. The check engine light would disappear once I got the oil change. I assumed everything was fine around April 2023, until December 2023 and apparently my check engine light turned back on. Finally after going to at least 4 more different auto shops I took it by Autozone to look at it again. Autozone claimed my code meant that my catalytic converter needed to be looked at or replaced. Now I never got a recall for it, but I did see that there has been several issues across the board about Patriot owners needing theirs to be replaced. That’s costly and it should’ve been replaced free of charge. My vehicle has been in...
CVT transmission failed at 79,000 miles. Cost to replace is over $8,000 due to lack of replacement parts. Known defective design that is no longer in production.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted and returned to normal functionality. However, the failure became a regular failure. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the CVT oil was low. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
My 2016 Jeep Patriot 4X4 engine light is staying on. When I took it to a mechanic to have it read it stats faulty cramshaft and camshaft position sensors. My engine has stalled, loss of acceleration and power, shuddering, and jerking that is continuously happens. Jeep manufactures said its not there problem. I need help with my vehicle, not just for my safety but for the safety of my kids. Also the problem is only getting worse.
To whom it may concern I purchased a 2016 Jeep Patriot Sport on May 21 2022, the vehicle since date of purchase has been stalling at acceleration speeds of 65 MPH, as well as in reverse while parking while idle at stop light and stop sign upon stalling NO warning lamp has been present. I have contacted multiple jeep dealerships upon getting a diagnostic for this matter as well as recalls, I was told by jeep by customer service that they did not do recalls on the 2016 models any longer. In the mist of trying to get it serviced , By JEEP the vehicle was serviced 3 times in total by NYC AUTOMART with no avail. The crank shaft sensor was changed BY NYC AUTOMART twice still no solutions.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon accelerating uphill, the RMPs revved up but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The coolant temperature warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the temperature sensor had failed and damaged the transmission. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the temperature sensor, head gasket, water pump, radiator, and unknown hoses and clamps were replaced. A transmission flush was performed, and the transmission was rebuilt. Additionally, the contact stated that upon parking the vehicle after driving 45 MPH, she noticed that the driver's seat headrest had partially been deployed independently. The contact pushed the headrest inside the seat; however, the headrest was completely deployed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was...
The check engine light keeps coming on and it the codes keep saying it’s the throttle pedal position sensor A/B circuit
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The stated that the ABS and the check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the ABS module was replaced. The contact stated while driving at 20 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle started shuddering, emitted abnormal sounds, and failed to respond. The contact released the accelerator pedal. The contact shifted to park(P) and turned off the vehicle. The contact then restarted the vehicle and continued driving; however, the failure reoccurred twice that same day. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and pulled into a gas station, where there were abnormal sounds coming from the vehicle along with a burning odor. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and drove to her residence....
Within 1.5 years my car kept slowing down when driving out of no where. We almost crashed because the car literally won’t pick up speed or just jolts a few times then stops. We spent over $1000 to have it fixed with 3 different mechanics. They said it was the crankshaft I believe and catalytic converters. We just got the car brand new in 2016 so this has been frustrating because we get oil changes every 3 months and take great car of the car. We’ve had two get brakes don’t over and over and also when you turn the wheels it’s loud and sounds like the ending of a roller coaster when you here it turning. The rides are not smooth either you can see my hand shaking hard when driving even at slow speeds like 35 mph. Jeep really sold us a lemon and we have been paying...
Engine stalls & loses momentum, stutters. Crankshaft sensor.
Rpm’s started jumping car wouldn’t accelerate cam shaft sensor code
Driving on the highway all of a sudden, I start losing power, rpms go way up. It's happened many times in last month and its pretty scary on the highway.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the RPM fell to zero and the vehicle hesitated and jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently shut off while at a red light without warning. The vehicle would restart immediately after failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
While turning a corner my car turned off. Happened on several occasions. Has happened on highway, in town and in parking lot. At low speeds and accelerating- car stalls & turns off. VERY DANGEROUS
I am a service contract administrator. I recently received a claim where the contract holders vehicle would stall. The shop stated a recall had been performed by Auto Nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Littleton , CO. ( 7980 W Tufts Ave , Littleton , CO 80123 ) ( 303-578-6099 ) I called over , gave them the VIN , and asked for documentation on the repair. The shop said they would send it over. In the meantime I had the shop the vehicle was currently at send me pictures of the wiring. The repair was poorly done , and Auto Nation is refusing to rectify their poor workmanship. The service advisor in questions name is Scott. He would not return phone calls , and never sent over the requested documentation. My company will take care of the customers repairs. Attached are the pictures of the poor repair. My purpose here...
My jeep sputters like it's going to shut off. It does occasionally and I loose steering and speed control and The brakes dont work. Not sure if it's a fuel issue a transmission issue or what the deal is but it has done it forever. It jerks around like it is in the wrong gear and often is trying to operate in 6th gear when going 30 mph. It's not changing gears...it isn't accelerating correctly when pulling out in traffic. It is a disaster waiting to happen and has been. The local dealer just says wait for recall info. It's a jeep. It will be coming eventually....hello I drive my kids around daily
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while entering a parking lot, the vehicle lost motive power, shuddered and jerked without warning. The vehicle was restarted however, the failure recurred several times. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the power train failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. The VIN was not available.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING
THE JEEP PATRIOT 2016 LATITUDE 4WD HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES "JERKING" AND TODAY HAD A COUPLE MOMENTS WHERE ALL POWER AND STEERING WAS GONE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULDN'T PICK THE CAR BACK UP TO SPEED. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 55MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND ALL POWER WENT OUT AND I LOST STEERING. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. PLEASE JEEP FOX THIS PROBLEM AND OWN UP TO THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT YOUR VEHICLE IS REPORTED OVER AND OVER TO HAVE!
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. LOST STEERING CAPABILITIES AND HAD A HARD TIME PULLING OVER. HAD TO TURN KEY COMPLETELY OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE MINUTES AND IT TURNED BACK ON. I WAS ON A BUSY CITY STREET.
VEHICLE STALLED WITH NO WARNING SIGNS WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE, TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY SAY THE JEEP NEEDS A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. WILL NOT DRIVE AT ALL BUT HAS POWER. ONLY HAS 112,000. CODES: P0777 - PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B - STUCK ON, P0741 - TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID - STUCK OFF, P0730 INCORRECT GREAT RATIO
MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT CONNECTING GEARS WHEN IT GETS TOO HOT THIS HAPPENS WHEN I ACCELERATE AND IN BETWEEN GEARS OF FIRST AND SECOND SECOND AND THIRD AND THIRD AND FOURTH.
OVERTIME, THE JEEP HAS GOTTEN WORSE WHEN ACCELERATING. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE JEEP WILL KEEP JERKING LIKE IT'S SLIPPING GEARS. IT WILL OCCUR ACCELERATING ON A STREET OR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE UNSEALED MAIN RELAY BOX IS POSITIONED DIRECTLY BELOW THE LEAD-ACID BATTERY WHICH LEAKS DIRECTLY ONTO THE COVER, ENTERS THE RELAY BOX AND DESTROYS THE LEG AND WIRING CONNECTED TO THE AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN RELAY. THIS CAN OCCUR BOTH AS THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING OR CAUSE A NO-CRANK/NO-START SITUATION, IMMOBILIZING THE VEHICLE. IN OUR CASE, THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WAS IN A PARKING LOT BUT THE ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE MYRIAD YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON THE ISSUE FOR MANY JEEP AND FCA VEHICLES. THIS IS ENOUGH OF A KNOWN ISSUE THAT FCA HAS NOT ADDRESSED FOR MANY YEARS NOW AND WE JUST PAID $460.00 FOR THE DEALER TO MOVE THE AFFECTED RELAY FROM THE BOX TO A LESS VULNERABLE LOCATION. IT OCCURRED A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE WIRING FAILED COMPLETELY, AND IN OUR CASE WAS IN A STATIONARY CONDITION EACH TIME FORTUNATELY.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AFTER EXITING THE INTERSTATE. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE CAR ACCELERATED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THE. THE WHEELS QUIT SPINNING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASH. I WAS IN THE ROAD NEARLY BEING MISSED BY OTHER CARS AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE ROAD BY TURNING OF THE CAR AND CRANKING IT BACK TO MOVE A FEW FEET REPEATEDLY UNTIL I REACHED A SIDE ROAD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A HIGHLY RATED REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD AN ELECTRICAL PART INSIDE THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED, THIS WAS NOT DUE TO FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE, AND THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITHIN THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE $5194.28. ESTIMATE IS ATTACHED.
IT STARTED ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT STARTED JERKING LIKE IT WAS BETWEEN GEARS . TOOK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO BE TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND NOTHING. I TOLD THEM SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND ITS SO BAD WHEN IT HAPPENS VEHICLE STALLS AND ALMOST DIES. I HAVE CALLED JEEP AND THEY DO NOTHING BUT BLAME IT ON A RECALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE ALREADY. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD I BOUGHT MY WIFE ANOTHER VEHICLE AND I'M DRIVING IT DO TO MY SAFETY CONCERNS.
IN JULY 2020, I WAS DRIVING, AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO JEEP, IN RENO, NV, WHICH DIAGNOSED IT AS A CAMSHAFT SENSOR ERROR; IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED BUT NOT CRITICAL. TECH RESET SENSOR, AND SAID IF IT COMES ON AGAIN, WE SHOULD SET A DATE FOR REPAIR. ON SEPT 3, 6:40PM, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, COMING OUT OF AN INTERCHANGE, MY CAR SHUT DOWN! EVERYTHING. LUCKILY, CLOSE ENOUGH, I COASTED OFF TO THE RIGHT AND TOOK THE FIRST EXIT, BRAKED HARD, AND CAME TO STOP. COULDN'T RESTART. ORDERED A TOW. TEN MIN LATER, TRIED AGAIN, THE CAR STARTED, AND DROVE IT 3 MILES HOME @ 25 MPH. HIT 30MPH, IT KINDA 'CHUNKED', AND I WENT BACK TO 24-25MPH. SEPT 4, I TOOK TO LITHIA JEEP, AGAIN. LEFT IT WITH THEM. THEY CALLED ME LATER, AND SAID IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, AND WOULD NEED TO...
MY VEHICLE ENGINE HAS COME A COUPLE OF TIMES AND BEGAN STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH WAS A RECALL (S89) BUT HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL. *TR
MY VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I AM ON THE FREEWAY IN ORDER TO KEEP UP AN ACCEPTABLE SPEED I HAVE TO KEEP THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY PRESSED DOWN. ALSO WHEN I LEAVE A STOP LIGHT/STOP SIGN THE JEEP HAS NO ACCELERATION POWER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE YESTERDAY AT ABOUT 60MPH, MY JEEP SUDDENLY LOSS POWER AND STARTED SHAKING. IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAD TO QUICKLY PUT MY FLASHERS ON AS TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHILE I TRIED TO PULL INTO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTARTED IT TO DRIVE HOME.
AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR, ON A TWO LANE ROAD, MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. IT WOULDN'T HARDLY PULL ITSELF. IT ALMOST STALLED OUT COMPLETELY. I HAD TO SHUT IT OFF AND IT RESET FOR A SHORT TIME. FORTUNATELY I HAD A PLACE TO PULL OUT OF THE WAY. I'M HAVING TROUBLE GIVING MY VEHICLE THROTTLE NOW. I BELIEVE THE THROTTLE BODY IS THE PART THAT IS THE ISSUE. I'VE READ THAT IS A PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP PATRIOTS.
MY CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE LIKE IT SHOULD AND GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY OR TRYING TO SPEED UP ON HIGHWAY, THE CAR STALLS AND DOESN'T WANT TO GO. THE RPM DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE AND THE CAR JERKS A LOT. IT HAPPENING MORE EVERYDAY THAN BEFORE WHEN IT WOULD ONLY HAPPEN EVER SO OFTEN.
CODE P0777 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B STUCK ON CAR IS NOT GOING INTO GEARS NOW. FIRST, IT WOULD ONLY GO INTO REVERSE. BUT, NOTHING NOW.
AUTOMATIC JEEP, HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN GOING A SLOWER SPEED (I.E. TURNING A CORNER, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WITH STOP-AND-GO SPEEDS), BUT DOES DO IT AT HIGHER SPEEDS (EX. 60 MPH TO 70 MPH). IT DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ISSUES WHEN DOWN SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE HAS A VERY NOTICEABLE LURCH/SHUTTER WHEN IT IS ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR AND WILL DO IT REPEATEDLY IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN A WHILE BEFORE IT WILL OCCUR, I DRIVE IT ABOUT 20 MILES BEFORE IT STARTS EXHIBITING THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS MOST FRIGHTENING IN CITY/RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THE VEHICLE MIGHT STOP RUNNING ALL TOGETHER. THE VEHICLE ALSO SEEMS TO STRUGGLE TO MAKE IT UP HILLS, AS IF IT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE THE CLIMB OF EVEN A...
TRANSMISSION IS WINDING AND JUDDERING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT LATITUDE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO OXMOOR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4520 SHELBYVILLE RD, LOUISVILLE, KY 40207, (502) 895-4520) WHERE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V907000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
WITHOUT ALERTS, ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A STRAIGHTAWAY, FRONTAGE ROAD. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I BROUGHT VEHICLE TO A STOP AND TURNED ON HAZARD SIGNALS. REMOVED KEY ENTIRELY AND THEN RE-INSERTED AND ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE. CAR FAILED TO START BUT MADE IGNITION NOISES FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS WITHOUT SUCCESS AT WHICH ALL ALERT LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIT UP ONLY WHILE KEY WAS TURNED BUT FAILING TO START. I REMOVED KEY ENTIRELY AGAIN AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN SECONDS BEFORE RE-INSERTING AND ATTEMPTING IGNITION ONCE MORE. THIS ATTEMPT SUCCEEDED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE HOME.
ON 06/20/2019, CAR BEGAN TO HAVE SPORADIC ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AT FIRST BUT BY MIDDLE OF DAY, CHECK ENGINE ALERT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS, VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20 MPH. DROVE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO MECHANIC WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 15-20 MPH. MECHANIC WORKED ON VEHICLE REPAIRS FOLLOWING DAY (06/21/2019) AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY & THROTTLE BODY GASKET. VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AFTER REPAIRS.
