Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT LATITUDE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO OXMOOR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4520 SHELBYVILLE RD, LOUISVILLE, KY 40207, (502) 895-4520) WHERE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V907000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
