ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY CAR HAS STALLED AND ALL GEAR BOXES WILL LIGHT UP WITH A MESSAGE SAYING "SERVICE PARK ASSIST" SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL BEEP AND OTHER TIMES IT WON'T. THE ENGINE HAS STALLED ON MANY OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND OTHER ROADS. THIS HAS OCCURRED PROBABLY 20-30 TIMES OVER THE PASSED COUPLE OF YEARS. OCCASIONALLY IT WILL STALL FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN KICK BACK IN, BUT MORE OFTEN I WILL HAVE TO LET THE VEHICLE SLOW DOWN AND COAST TO A STOP IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE IF THERE IS ONE. I THEN PUT ON THE FLASHERS, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN OFF THE KEY, WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND START THE VEHICLE. THIS MAY NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS OR IT MAY HAPPEN THE NEXT DAY. THE COMMANDER WAS SLUGGISH ON A TRIP TO FLORIDA, WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, IT WOULD HESITATE AND SPUTTER. THE MONTH BEFORE THIS TRIP, I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT 60K TO KEEP THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY INTACT. SO FIGURED SOMETHING WAS DONE INCORRECTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WOULD DEAL WITH IT WHEN WE RETURNED HOME. I WISH WE WOULD HAVE FOUND A REPAIR SHOP IN FL TO LOOK INTO IT AS THE JEEP TURNED OFF ON US GOING 74 MPH ON I-95. WE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. WE DROVE 65 THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE. DEALERS HAD TWO SHIFTER/ESM ASSEMBLIES IN STOCK. THAT TELLS ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT IT IS. THIS VEHICLE IS PAMPERED AND ONLY DRIVEN ABOUT 5K PER YEAR, MOSTLY WHEN I GOT TO OUR HUNTING CAMP UP STATE. REPAIR COST $1,130.99.
