Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER EIGHT TIMES FOR THE SIMILAR DEFECT. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY A SPECIALIZED TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN DETECTED SEVERAL TROUBLE CODES AND CONTINUED INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. ..UPDATED 02-28-14 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHILE IN IDLE OR IN PARK.
