2017 HONDA ACCORD Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

The camera failed on the car rendering all the safety features inoperable. The camera cost almost $2000 making it an expensive repair.

ALL THE PANEL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. HONDA SAYS I NEED NEW INJECTORS FOR ABOUT $2000. THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 66,000 MILES. THEY ALSO SAY A NEED A NEW HEAD UNIT, FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD THREE OTHER HONDA ACCORDS BEFORE THIS, AVERAGING OVER 200,000 MILES. NEVER PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.

This is an ongoing problem - -- On startup, the vehicle reports 4 system warnings that shut off the cruise control and ABS brakes as well as the other safety systems. This is an intermittent problem. -- The dealer states that the camera is dead and wants $2,500 to replace and calibrate it. This is a common response from dealers I see in all the forums. -- I have found a work-around that is not documented in forums yet. -- If we keep our foot on the brake until after the electronics start sequence finishes, no errors EVERY TIME -- If we take our foot off the brake when the car starts, but before the electronics finish, we get errors every time. All 4 warnings came on about a month ago - no safety systems & no cruise control at all. I could drive 50 miles and they'd go off until eventually they did not. Now I find through the forums that this is very common for the 2017 Honda Accord & Hybrid! And, the dealers knowing this are charging over $2,000 for a simple camera! So, they know these have a high failure rate, are not fixing them, and are price gouging us! Please help us all on the roads out there!

Hello I am proudly owner of honda since 2003 i only buy honda cars and recently on my 2017 honda we have issues with sensing system this error codes come and goes and i went to dealer and they told me to replace sensing Camara in front but I think it is just manufacturing defects because error code come and goes while you drive car. I cannot use any feature such as cruise control, forwarding collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance and all features including in sensing system. I was on long distance trip and when i was coming back all those errors started coming.

The forward camera tied to ALL safety features (as well as cruise control) is defective. I have tried to replace at a Honda dealership twice since December of 2022; they tell me the part is backordered. Because the camera is defective, NONE of the safety features work; cruise control is also disabled. Failure to have the part available is creating an unsafe vehicle by prolonging repair. My car has approximately 120,000 miles.

I was driving my vehicle and it began displaying messages that my collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control system, and lane keep assist system all have problems. Simultaneously, my backup camera has ceased working. This is causing my vehicle to randomly lurch forward without being propelled by me, which is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! All of these issues/codes began at the exact same time and it seems this is a widespread problem with Honda Accords manufactured around this year based on prior reports on this site, recalls to subsequent models, and other information publicly available on the internet. When will we get the same recall that has been offered to other models? My vehicle only has 58,000 miles and change on it. There's no reason for it to be functioning in this manner other than its defective manufacturing.

I have a 2017 Honda accord, just a little over 5 years old and 73K miles. It has never been in a car accident and I bought it new from the dealer. Last month I started to have lights that showed my lane assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation system, and road departure mitigation system were not functioning. I took my car to the dealer and was initially told that it was an SRS unit failure. Later, they changed and said the SRS unit is fine but the camera is damaged. Honda is considering this normal wear/tear and will not cover this repair even though the car has never been in an accident. The car will not pass inspection unless this is fixed. Road departure mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane keep assist problem, collision mitigation system problem - lights all started to turn on in 2017 Honda Accord Touring. Took the car to the dealer. Was told that the entire SRS system has failed. The car was bought in 2017 brand new from the dealer and has never been in a car accident. Unclear why a five year old car is already having electrical system failure. Car won’t pass inspection and this is a $1000 repair.

All wrong lights came on the dash and all components had failed. Took it to the dealership and they weren't able to diagnose, they reset the system and said that if it failed again I would need to purchase a Honda battery as it had recently replaced with another brand. Everything worked for about two weeks until I was on the freeway with the cruise control set at 75 and suddenly the brakes took me down 35. Very frightening experience. Took it in again and they said I needed to replace the camera in the windshield at $1,900.00: my car only had 42,000 miles and 4 years old. Reluctantly, we replaced and paid for the camera and once again the cruise and lane assist failed a week later. I have had two major issues with my 2017 Honda Accord sport since buying it brand new that the Honda dealership will do nothing about even though I’ve specifically been told twice on two separate occasions that the car was manufactured defected. My mitigation systems has failed multiple times where it just stops responding losing control of the steering and accelerating on its own. One of those times caused me to run off the highway into the ditch. It just randomly iluminates all “mitigation systems failure” at the most random times. Another thing is the ridiculous tire issues I’ve had with this vehicle. I have put brand new set, after set, after set on this car. car locked down on roadway and would not respond to accelerator until brake paddle action, as it did not accommodate the transmission B mode drag and falsely detected a pending collision. plus it falsely detects exit lane markings as collisions and engages brake. Also does not factor in gravity in collision avoidance. We have an uphill steep driveway and it will lock down in the driveway to avoid hitting something that the force gravity prevents. for a bit, disabled system and talked with service and then set the distance setting to short, which seems to have improved the issue.

All the warning lights came on in the dashboard. Took it to the dealer, replaced the steering sensor. Couple months later all the warning lights came on again.

LKAS, ACC AND PRE-COLLISION BRAKING ALL FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE FIRST ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THE OPTICAL CAMERA, THE SECOND ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THE MICROWAVE RADAR, BUT NEITHER WOULD AFFIRM THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WOULD ELIMINATE THE INTERMITTENT FAILURES. WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS, ALL ASSOCIATED SAFETY FEATURES AS WELL AS CRUISE CONTROL ARE DISABLED FOR THE DURATION OF THAT TRIP.
