2013 HONDA ACCORD Steering Problems

Problem started when leaving parking lot. The car started pulling to right. Hard to turn to left. Then the problem stop car will drive normal for a little ways then all of a sudden it will pull to right. Just took it to Honda did the recall on battery and steering to day. Car still has steering issues. It will drive normal for a little ways then all sudden pull to the right. Have to make sure to have a good grip on the steering wheel at all the time. I know if I hit a bump or turn to the right the steering issue will start most of the time. So time turn left problem goes away. But know when it will come and go. Driving 20 minutes may come and go 5 times or may stay pulling to right the hold time. I would not drive the car...

No accident occurred. I just believe that the symptoms our car has are the exact same issues that caused a recall. I’m just relaying information to help set the parameters of the recall. Secondly I am curious why the service manager didn’t mention about a recall possibly concerning our car. Even though it isn’t in the window of the recall ( but shows all symptoms). Guess I’m feeling a little jaded with the way the service manager conveniently left out they didn’t have any parts for our car and they would have to order them. Anyway they knew I was driving the car home and they only had 6 hours to mess with it.

There were no warnings the power steering failed just as the previous recalls on the 2000 model Hondas did but there's no recall for this one the ABS has been affected there's no power steering and reduced engine power on and off a number of safety lights on dash the exact symptoms as described for number of Honda's before this one even the same year model but not this one 2013 Honda Accord vin [XXX] . Electronic steering motor. Car would jerk to the left into oncoming traffic. Reproduced issue at Japanese auto import. Ordered and replaced oem steering motor.no warning lights or symptoms Pryor to first incident. the power steering suddenly doesnt work. luckily appeared and noticed upon starting the car. the dashboard sensor light appeared as well at that time. did minor troubleshooting that was suggested by articles read such as tested battery, was fine. looked for lose connections and corrosion, none seen. became aware also that this is a known problem.

Issue is intermittant, however extremely dangerous. Vehicle steers to the right until it cannot go further without any intervention with the steering wheel. Upon a right turn the vehicle will NOT return to center steering. If this is occuring vehcile will turn very quickly if your hands come off the steeering wheel for any amount of time.

My Honda Accord is now difficult to drive due to tendency of steering wheel to cycle to the right at sporadic or random intervals. All lights related to Tire pressure, Sterring control, Vehicle Stability Assist and ABS comes up in dash board. The ABS control module suddenly fails because of very bad design and manufacturing (just dry solderings!). Search EBAY, one can find so many offering services to repair this failed ABS control module. For replacement ot costs 3500. This looks like is common failure. Very dangerous to drive with that failed ABS control module. Why is this not in a recall yet?

I was driving and all of a sudden my steering wheel started steering on its own quickly to the right and it was very difficult to keep control of the steering wheel couldn’t keep control and car was going against traffic and merging into other vehicles. When I finally came to a stop the steering wheel still moved on its own. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself and my children is at risk while driving the car, it could cause major damage to other vehicles and structures and harm to us. Steering wheel would not turn left or right and became very jumpy and stiff to steer!

After a driveshaft recall repair was performed on July 10, 2025, at Germain Honda of Dublin, my 2013 Honda Accord EX-L immediately began showing multiple safety system warning lights, including ABS, VSA, traction control, and check engine. These lights had never appeared prior to the repair. The ABS pump/motor, ABS modulator needs to be replaced. This is a pretty common issue with the Honda Accord from 2008-2017. Fixing this problem is expensive at the dealer. I believe Honda motors should have a recall about this situation because how pricy this is. Looking online for information and videos on youtube many people have been quoted 2,800 dollars and up to replace it. I just replace the ABS sensor driver side and ABS, Brake, Steering Wheel came out. These are coming on and off. Please I would like to get some help with this situation.

I had my vehicle serviced and repaired at Barber Honda here in Bakersfield, California, last year. They replaced the electrical power steering, but the problem came back. My 2013 Honda Accord experienced very dangerous steering problems. Without warning the steering wheel became very loose and I had to tightly hold the wheel with both hands to keep from crashing. The steering wheel was very tight and difficult to turn when turning right. The Honda dealer duplicated and confirmed my experience. They did a complete diagnostic check. The mechanics said there were no DTCs and the problem persisted after updates to the software. They suggested a RECC gearbox and possible internal computer chip. My mileage reads 106,000 miles.

When driving my vehicle, the steering wheel gets sticky and is hard to turn and if I move the wheel slightly to the right the wheel automatically turns all the way right. I have almost gotten into an accident a couple times due to this issue. The steering wheel does not turn back to center. I see that this is a common issue for my vehicle make and model. This is a severe issue that can cause bodily harm if not replaced quickly.

While driving on [XXX] in Selden, NY on [XXX] @ the speed of approximately 45-50 mph my 2013 Honda Accord Sport (sedan) abruptly, unexpectedly and violently lurched to the left on it's own while I was holding the wheel with my fingers. While driving, the steering wheel jerks to the left. There is a constant pressure of the wheel turning left. This puts me and others in danger. There have been other experiences from other people on different forums that have experienced this. Warning lamp did come on for electric steering but turned off a few days later.

Very common problem it appears as there are several forum post from other accord owners 2013 and above that have all reported dash lights up with traction control, tire pressure, power steering, ABS and some instances Brake will illuminate on the dash board, and some have reported a combination of these lights or all of them. The culprit is a broken solder on the ABS module from my understanding and its something Honda is aware of but have not recalled. The part itself costs $1500, just for the part and does not include labor. Traction Control/ABS/Brake lights turn on 122-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction and 83-11 which causes pcm malfunction. This is a known problem with Honda vehicles and should be a recall. When this error occurs traction/abs/brake, LDW fcw are disabled. The fix for this is over $1000.00.

hello I'm wondering why this is not a concern for a safety recall. VSA Module. the VSA module systems seems to be a problem from 2012 all the way to 2017 model Hondas. this module effects powersteering. ABS. tire pressure and traction control. it seems that this is a global problem and their are countrys that have done a recall on this VSA Module. on Honda accord sedans.

In 2022 while driving, my steering wheel became very difficult to turn. It felt as if the power steering quit altogether. All of the safety lights came on at once (brake, anti-skid, steering, etc.). After stopping, it was very difficult to turn the wheel. Not only was it frightening but I would not have been able to swerve or turn suddenly if needed. The Honda dealership believed at first it was a sensor, which was replaced. The problem quickly returned. This time the dealership replaced the entire steering rack. Two years later, the problem appears to be returning. All safety/warning lights have come on and there are moments when steering "stiffens up" but so far it has not completely gone out.

Steering is sticky and difficult to turn sometimes. Sometimes the steering loosens up very quickly resulting in a very fast turn, making it very dangerous. On a regular turn, the steering wheel almost jitters, providing uneven No codes or warnings have shown up. Honda wants $4000 to replace the entire eps rack but have not stated a definitive issue with it. This all started out of nowhere, I was driving in a neighborhood and the steering went haywire.

When we drive the car, there is a problem with the power steering that causes the steering wheel to over-steer, which makes the car jerk to one side or the other without warning, which makes the car veer into other lanes. We took the car to the auto shop, the mechanic told us that when the car is up on the lift and they start the car, the wheels turn by themselves, which shouldn't happen.

There is something wrong with the electric power steering. Every time I drive my steering wheel pulls to the left so if I let go of the steering wheel the steering wheel will pull to the left and could potentially cause a car crash and while driving and difficulty steering (either steering feeling too firm or too loose). This is happening without the electric power steering warning light being illuminated. I do not feel safe.

Power steering issues: Stiff steering wheel that locks then becomes loose and causes loss of steering control. Deviation from the intended path of travel without warning or driver input. Constant veering to one side without driver input.

When overtaking a car on a one lane highway, the engine suddenly started to sputter and the steering felt unstable, and a few seconds later, four engine lights turned on (Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Vehicle Stability Assist System Indicator, Electric Power Steering System Indicator, Low Tire Pressure/TPMS Indicator). I was able to drive the car to an auto shop, where their mechanics did a diagnosis and found codes P0087, 83-11, 61-11, 85-01. The contact had spoken to the dealer and to the manufacturer but was informed that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,008.

Power steering failed without warning which is extremely dangerous and could possibly cause a fatality.

Steering wheel will pull left and want to keep going left. Have to really pull steering wheel right to keep car straight. This is a known problem on 2013 Honda accords. This almost caused an accident on the road. I am bringing it to Honda but it's a known problem and should be recalled. I know the 2012 models had the issue and they were recalled.

We brought the car to our local Honda dealer. They diagnosed the car and told us the car "NEEDS EPS GEAR BOX ONLY ". They said "NOT RELATED TO THE WARRANTY EXTENSION $3905 PLUS TAX AND SHOP SUPPLIES". There is not warning when the engine of the car is turned on. My car had less than 68K miles when this happened on 07/13/2024.

The VSA Modulator on the 2013 Ex-L manual transmission has failed. It illuminated 7 lights. Steering light, abs, FCW, BRAKE, ABS, LDW, Traction Control. The abs modulator internally shuts off all systems within this car. The car is not able to pass inspection because of safety issues. After looking for a used part, i realized there were many complaints on this particular make and model. I am scared to drive the car with these issues, and with 1000s of cars having the same issue with the same part, i would think Honda would correct the issue without spending $1,000’s. There were no symptoms prior. It seems that the internal soldering on the VSA modulator has been coming apart, shutting down the system.
