Very common problem it appears as there are several forum post from other accord owners 2013 and above that have all reported dash lights up with traction control, tire pressure, power steering, ABS and some instances Brake will illuminate on the dash board, and some have reported a combination of these lights or all of them. The culprit is a broken solder on the ABS module from my understanding and its something Honda is aware of but have not recalled. The part itself costs $1500, just for the part and does not include labor. This is a common issue that should be taken care of by honda as its a huge safety issue with the ABS, Traction control, power steering, tire pressure monitoring and brake not working when needed in an emergency situation. I have had car serviced faithfully since ownership in 2013. Last visit to dealer I was informed that the VSA modulator control unit has malfunctioned. It’s very concerning that there has not been a recall on this since it impacts brakes, tires, steering. I am requesting a replacement of this modulator at no charge.
I purchased this car from Trickett Honda in June 2013. The mileage on 9/11/23 was 23,602 (the day of the rear wheel hub bearing repair). This car was used primarily by my wife and driven mostly in town for short trips (14 to 25 miles round trip to and from home), seldom trips to Nashville and back. My wife started complaining about what she called “road noise” 4 or 5 years ago. I occasionally drove the car and it was loud, but I thought it might just be tires, but the tires looked OK. I do remember being on the interstate hwy at 75 and noticed a high noise level. My wife recently had to drive her brother to Nashville for doctor appointments and he told her he thought the noise was from a bad wheel bearing. My vehicle currently has the TPMS, VSA(Stabilty/ABS),Electric Power Steering, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning lights are on. I brought my vehicle to a local Tire Discounters. They scanned for the codes and it brought up the VSA Modulator (aka ABS Module) malfunction. I researched through forums and it is a common issue with Honda ABS module. The VSA/ABS module has to be replaced due to electrical issues within the module. This could lead to a crash/injury.
THIS IS TO INFORM YOU I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 2/20/2021 WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ONE WEEK PRIOR BASED ON THE RECALL LETTER RECEIVED FROM YOUR OFFICE. I WAS WAS PHYSICALLY THERE, I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE ADVISOR THAT THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS. NO FUTURE APPOINTMENT WERE MADE BY THE DEALERSHIP. NOT SURE WHAT IS MEANS BUT THIS WAS WRITTEN UNDER COMMENTS :DA212407, FROM THE "COMPLIMENTARY MULTI POINT INSPECTION" FORM. PERSONAL ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE TO LEAVE MY CAR BASED ON MY CONVENIENCE; THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE VERY ICY AND TREACHEROUS TO GET THERE; MY RIDE BACK HOME WAS WAITING IN THE PARKING LOT. DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMPLY FAILED AT 66,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL HONDA PART WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. WHIRRING NOISE WAS INCREASINGLY WORSE WHEN I WAS DRIVING, PROMPTING ME TO HAVE IT EVALUATED BY MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE SHOWED ME THE NOISE MADE WHEN THE ONE WHEEL WAS TURNED WITH THE CAR ON THE RACK. PART WAS REPLACED. THE OTHER REAR BEARING ASSEMBLY SEEMS OK SO FAR. REPAIR BILL WAS $430. MECHANICS TELL ME THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR A WHEEL BEARING TO FAIL WITH SO LITTLE MILES ON THE CAR.
AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TURNED ON. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH REAR TIRE ON THE PASSANGER SIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. ON MORE THAN TEN OCCASIONS, THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE MIGHT BE DUE TO THE LOW TEMPERATURES IN FLORIDA. THE SENSOR DID NOT IDENTIFY WHICH TIRES MAY HAVE LOW TIRE PRESSURE. THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON A FEW HUNDRED MILES BEFORE A TIRE BLEW OUT. I CONSIDERED THE TEAR IN THE SIDE-WALL OF THE TIRE BEFORE THE BLOW TO BE THE LIKELY CAUSE OF THE TPMS LIGHT ON (LOSING PRESSURE). AFTER A BRAND NEW SET OF FOUR (4) TIRES, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRY TO RE-CALIBRATE THE TPMS, OR CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE MYSELF, OR TAKE THE CAR TO THE TIRE SHOP TO CHECK THE PRESSURES, THE LIGHT REMAINS ON NO MATTER WHAT. THIS IS AN ON0GOING ISSUE THAT CONTINUES DAILY, DESPITE DRIVING CONDITIONS.
WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY ALL FOUR REPLACED WAS DEFECTIVE THE ALL HAS 72,000 MILE AND NOW THE ABS HAS WENT BAD AND THE TPS SYSTEM IS BAD . THE ALUMINUM RIMS FOR BREAKING DO TO SALT CORROSION TWO OF THE FOUR RIMS BROKE COST TO REPLACE EACH RIM 435 IF THE RIMS AREN'T APART OF SAFETY AND ABS AND TPS ISN'T A QUALITY COMPONENTS DIDN'T KNOW CAR IS SAFE ON THE ROAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE WHEELS LOCKED UP. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A CURB AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEELS LOCKED UP DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PARTICULAR CODE THAT WAS NEEDED TO UNLOCK THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,207.
TPMS LIGHT ILLUMINATES EVEN THOUGH ALL TIRES HAVE THE CORRECT PRESSURE. TWO VISITS TO THE DEALER HAVE NOT RESOVLED THE ISSUE.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 HONDA ACCORD, EX-L,. MY HONDA HAS 42K MILES. AT ABOUT 25K MILES MY ACCORD STARTED TO MAKE A VERY OBVIOUS AND DISTURBING DRONING/HUMMING NOISE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. THE NOISE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER AS TIME WENT BY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER 2 TIMES AND ASKED THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM, TO NO AVAIL. AFTER HAVING NEW TIRES INSTALLED AT 42K MILES, AND THE DRONING NOISE WAS STILL OCCURRING, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER A THIRD TIME AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE NOISE PROBLEM AS COMING FROM A DEFECTIVE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING AND A DEFECTIVE REAR LEFT WHEEL BEARING. BOTH WHEEL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED ON JULY 27, 2016 AND THE DRONING NOISE ABOVE 40 MPH IS GONE. REPLACING THE WHEEL BEARINGS FIXED THE PROBLEM! THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE...
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES I BEGAN TO HEAR A STRANGE SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. AS IT BECAME LOUDER, I DETECTED IT WAS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL. WHEN I PULLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND INCREASED MY SPEED THE NOISE BECAME SLIGHTLY LOUDER SO I SLOWED DOWN TO 50 MPH. SUDDENLY THE NEXT THING I KNEW THE CAR BEGAN EXPERIENCING DRAG AND SLOWED SO I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND REALIZED THE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. THE TREAD ON THE TIRE IS STILL VERY GOOD THOUGH. WENT FOR LUNCH, AND PARKED MY CAR ON THE STREET. AFTER FINISHING LUNCH, ABOUT HALF AN HOUR LATER, GOT INTO THE CAR AND PROCEEDED TO START IT. EVERYTHING WORKED, BUT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF (RADIO AND AC WOULD STAY ON HOWEVER). TRIED AGAIN, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED. 05/25/14 WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY I NOTICED THE A THUMPING SOUND AND A JERKING FROM THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED GREAT ALARM FROM ME. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN. DRIVING ON A BUSY S.E. STREET IN WASHINGTON DC, DRIVING ABOUT 20 TO 30 MPH., HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A TIRE BLOWING OUT OR SOME OTHER TYPE OF NOISE EMANATING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND A CAR WAS VEERING INTO MY LANE. AS I WENT TO THE LEFT MY STEERING WHEEL JUST KEPT SPINNING AND THE TIRES WERE GOING ALL OVER THE PLACE.
