So I am just driving and all these lights come on my dashboard about front collision warning failing and land departure failing and no traction control or power steering. It caused my car to slip in the rain since there is no ABS without traction control. I skid for a bit till I regained control and pulled over. This is such a common problem in this generation of cars there are 100 of YouTube videos and forums complaining about the ABS module failing this is a danger to others lives. How has this not been recalled as the brakes are so crucial?

ABS module failure on 2013 Honda Accord. FCW system failure, ABS failure, LDW failure along with brake light constantly on, also tire pressure sensor light on. Brakes have a softer feel when compressed. Diagnosed at independent repair shop as failure of the ABS module which is a circuit board issue with improperly soldered wire connections, something Honda should cover as the module dealer cost is about $3000 plus labor. Brake sensitivity and possible failure is a major concern and the vehicle is at only 116K miles.

ABS (Automated Breaking System) is impacted and turns on lights on my dashboard failing the following while driving (Forward Collision Warning, Tire Pressure Light, Lane Departure Warning, Anti-skid system) It is avaliable for testing on request. Car does not stop as it is supposed to in urgent breaking due to ABS failure and puts driver and others on risk. My spouse already got in an accident due to this. Yes, after months of system failure on and off, I finally got my car inspected at a independent service center. Honda dealership costs more and are not ready to even look at it without paying, even though this seems to me a problem discussed online in many forums/sites. I called and emailed manufacturer and was turned down by requesting me to go to the Honda dealership repair which charge way more only to inspect only one issue. No other than the...

Dear - NHTSA Vehicle Safety Division, I am writing to formally document my ongoing concern regarding a faulty Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module in my Honda vehicle, which I believe poses a serious safety risk. Despite contacting Honda Corporation on four separate occasions to address this issue, the company has refused to acknowledge or accept responsibility for what appears to be a recurring defect found in several Honda models produced between 2013 and 2018. The vehicle was inspected by a certified technician at a Honda dealership, who confirmed that the braking failure stemmed from a malfunction of the ABS module. The technician also acknowledged that this issue is common in Hondas from the aforementioned model years. I relayed this information to Honda directly, along with my willingness to cover part of the repair cost, but was offered no resolution or goodwill support. The replacement part alone is quoted at over...

VSA ABS FCW EPS warning lights, according to Honda dealership it needs a VSA ABS module, these are thousands of dollars and there’s thousands and thousands of pissed off customers. This should be warranted. It looks like honda of Europe did warranty it. I’m not sure what’s going on in honda North America. It can cause the brake pedal to go soft, and is definitely a safety hazard

Traction Control/ABS/Brake lights turn on 122-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction and 83-11 which causes pcm malfunction. This is a known problem with Honda vehicles and should be a recall. When this error occurs traction/abs/brake, LDW fcw are disabled. The fix for this is over $1000.00.

Excessive Engine oil consumption 2-3 quarts between 5000 to 6000 oil changes. ABS Module failure causing all safety feature not working.

When my 2013 Accord was around 80,000 miles my dashboard lit up with "Forward Collison Warning System Failure." The following lights are also on, LDW, Power Steering, TPMS, Traction Control. I took my car to a mechanic and was told I needed a new VSA/ ABS Brake Control Module. I was told this is a common problem for Hondas and is dangerous as it disables traction control and could affect braking as well. The mechanic and a honda dealer quoted me $3,200 for this repair.

Component VSA ANTI LOCK ABS PUMP MODULATOR 57110-T2F-A1 malfunction. Circuit board wiring inside of modulator has loose/dismantled wires causing complete failure of ABS system for vehicle. This is a widely know problem amongst 9th generation Honda Accords and Honda has yet to issue a recall here in the United States.

Code 123_11 for bad ABS module. Lights that turn on within the dashboard are: Front Crash Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), TPMS, Traction Control, and Electronic Power steering. This issue is common within this generation of Accord and Honda needs to issue a recall.

Apparentlhy, many VSA Modulator Contol Unit on the ABS on the Honda accords from 2013-2017 have failures right now. My car has the same issue. Took it to the dealership and the guy working there even said this should be a recall. A lot of the honda accords have been having this same issue. All the warning lights on the dash light up and its because of the bad ABS module going bad. I really think honda should take responsibility on this. It is costing me approximately $3000 to fix at the dealership since they have to make connections and bleed all brakes during swap. A number of YouTube videos point to the hair thin connector to card connections as the failure point.

When starting the engine and while driving at speeds of 60+MPH, Malfunction lamp, FCW, VSA, LDW, Low tire pressure (TPMS), ECON mode, and EPS warning lights come on and vehicles slows to 10 MPH. Vehicle will remain in this condition until restarted which may or may not resolve the issue. Car will drive but not at speed desired and vehicles appears/sounds as if it is trying to change gears but cannot. The car continues to try to slow down to lower speeds.

The ABS/VSA Module failure: Tire pressure, traction control, steering, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) dash lights come on; the vehicle is available for inspection upon request, pending recall or private repair. The safety of the driver, passengers, and outside parties is at risk in case of brake failure or brake locking in a situation where the LDW or FCW has failed to alert the driver of a pending collision. The dealer conducted a diagnostic service on the morning of 07/01/2024 indicating ABS Module and Brake Flush, codes 81.19 and 81.20, with a repair cost of $2,385.49 for the ABS Module part and labor of 4.95 ($3335.49) and Brake Flush labor of .8 ($179.95) for a total cost of $3,575.44. The vehicle or parts have not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or others, although Galpin Honda performed the above diagnostic. The vehicle dashboard lights mentioned above...

This FCW Failure appears to be a common issue for the Honda Accord. The Honda declaration is claiming that it is the ABS Module that is causing this issue. Several posts are on the internet concerning this safety issue in these vehicles.

On 1/24/24, we were driving at about 65 mph. With no warning, FCW, LDW, ABS, Tire Pressure and check engine lights as well as FCW System Failure reported on dash. The car slowed to about 20-25mph and sounded rough. Cars behind were going with speed of traffic (about 65) and had to break behind us and were honking their horns at us despite emergency flashers on. We pulled over and turned off engine for a few minutes. We turn engine back on and warning lights were off and we could drive normally again. We thought it was a glitch. About three weeks later on 2/21/24, we were on a highway pass over mountain traveling about 65mph. The lights came on again and car slowed again to about 25mph. This was very dangerous on a pass with many cars accelerating around us on the uphill part of the pass. We had...

I get a light that comes on my dash board that says “Failed FCW System”.. most of the time it is on. Rarely it will go off the screen. Sometimes my car will randomly beep to signal that something is infront of me when there is nothing infront of me, which is what I believe to be an issue with the FCW system. This is startling and distracting to me while driving, as it is supposed to signal and keep me safe from potentially hitting objects infront of me, but it has proven itself unreliable for what its purpose is. Also with the “Failed FCW System” message on the dash, it has my other lights signaled such as the air pressure light for my tires as well as the oil light so I never know when my tires actually need air, etc…

Vsa module failure. Anti lock brakes will not work unless repaired. Honda dealer quoted repair over 2500.00 dollars. Know issue of poor quality design and use of inferior parts to make module failure imminent.
#11548556 |
Honda Service has reported I need a VSA Modulator Assembly replaced and they want me to order this part now which is on backorder for at least 2-3 months. Car had 87,000 miles at time of inspection. I have tried to source this assembly from various Honda dealers and parts distributors to no avail. Cost will be $2,800 to replace. There are many other Honda owners experiencing this same problem but Honda will not cover the costs and seem to have no way to expedite the parts. They have started a VSA recall in newer Honda models on a limited basis. The VSA modulator is a safety feature on the car and I notice a difference in the stability and braking of the car. I am sure if I have an accident, the fact that the lights are on the dashboard will negate my insurance coverage if it can be...

My vehicle currently has the TPMS, VSA(Stabilty/ABS),Electric Power Steering, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning lights are on. I brought my vehicle to a local Tire Discounters. They scanned for the codes and it brought up the VSA Modulator (aka ABS Module) malfunction. I researched through forums and it is a common issue with Honda ABS module. The VSA/ABS module has to be replaced due to electrical issues within the module. This could lead to a crash/injury.

Driving vehicle and dashboard lit up like Christmas. Lights included FCW, ABS, Lane Departure, etc. Shut vehicle down and lights turned off upon starting the car, but quickly came back on and now they are on for good. I took it to the Gary Smith Honda in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. They ran a diagnostic check and reported code 66-11, pressure sensor circuit malfunction, VSA modulator is faulty. Dealership quoted $2,600 to fix issue. Dealer advised vehicle is not safe to drive as brakes could lock up and traction control is faulty. I looked on YouTube and found this to be a wide-spreed issue with more than 10k views on each video where mechanics were discussing the issue and providing repair tips. I’m encouraging everyone in the comments to file a complaint with NHTSA as several are already on file and it appears the Honda Pilot already has a recall...

An incident has not occurred, however, if I keep driving there may be one with the brake controls. The VSA Modular unit has gone haywired and now my brakes are getting stuck and not sure if when I stop they may not work due to the system lights appearing. Honda dealer says it's faulty and when looking the problem up, seems like most hondas get this problem. This should be safety recall, especially if your warranty has run out. Costly and aggravating.
#11521481 |
No accident to report. Just feel the VSA brake modulator part should be a Honda recall. Mine has failed… and I see online that the connector wires are too thin, and this VSA brake modulator is a widespread problem in Honda Accords from 2012-17. All the dashboard warning lights kick on. Anti skid, FCW, ABS!
#11517557 |
For no known reason numerous warning lights appeared on dashboard (steering, LDW, FCW failure, brakes, low tire pressure). Power steering completely stopped working. It appears ABS, lane departure warning and forward collision warning systems all stopped working. Glad this happened to me and not my wife. It is her car. Dangerous as heck!

Since I bought this new accord, I replaced starter 3 times and I only have 73000 miles on it. The third time 4 lights came on. Honda company should recall these issues. No accidents

The ABS Modulator has failed. It is available for inspection for $120 at the dealer which does not go towards the repair. I went to an independent shop and was told that they can't figure out the problem because of the complex computer system in Hondas. I then had it inspected at Honda and was told I need to replace the modulator for $1650 parts and labor. The ABS system including the front collision warning and lane departure warning are no longer reliable. If I put off the repair I am at risk of the antilock brake system failing and the brakes locking up, the stability and traction control not working, and the brake pedal may become unresponsive over time. There are 5 warning lights that come on intermittently. This has been happening for the last year. This is a defective part and an ongoing problem for 2013-2015 Honda owners...

VSA modulator seems to be a defective part in many Hondas and Honda is not doing anything about it. It is a safety issue the should be taken care by Honda. My car has only 100K miles and is needing this repair that is going to cost me over $2000! Not fair for a consumer.
#11474913 |
Car started not being able to accelerate and shortly after the several warning lights came on and a message says that the FCW system had failed. When these warning lights turn on, the stability and performance of the car is affected. I have read several posts from Honda owners having the same issues. Honda has not taken responsibility to address the problem. The components affected are due to defective VSA modulator that costs over $1500 and it not easily available.

Recieved a “FCW SYSTEM FAILED” on dash along with check engine light, power steering, LDW, FCW lights, brake system lights. Car wouldn’t turn off and trunk wouldn’t open. It has been seen by an independent service center.
#11452128 |
I receive a message that states FCW System Failure, which turns on multiple indicators on my dash board; TPMS, ABS, traction control, steering icon, etc. It disables my front collision warning as well as my lane departure warning, so I am not alerted anymore. The issue happens every time I drive. Sometimes within minutes, and other times after driving for about 20 miles or so. I have not taken it to a dealer, as they will more than likely not know what the problem is, based on many other people posting about this. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance reps, or others. No, the lamps and indicators on the dashboard is what started coming up when it first started happening.

WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN CAR STARTS, SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON, FDW, BRAKE, STEERING WHEEL, LANE DEPARTURE, ABS... THE WARNING FCW SYSTEM FAILED FLASHES ON MESSAGE CENTER. THIS HAS BEEN DOING FOR YEARS ON AND OFF. HAS GOTTEN WORSE RECENTLY ON MORE THAN NOT LATELY. ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN LOCKING UP WHEN I START MY CAR.
