I WAS DRIVING AND WAS ABOUT TO TURN ON TO MY STREET AND MY POWER STEERING FAILED. IT BECAME REALLY HARD TO TURN. IF THERE WAS A CAR PARKED I WOULD HAVE HIT THAT CAR. I PARKED SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT SEEM FINE TILL I TURNED THE STEERING AND AS SOON AS I DID IT DID THE SAME EXACT THINGS. HONDA REPLACED THE PART. BUT ITS REALLY DANGEROUS AND I WORRY IF OR WHEN IT WILL GO OUT AGAIN. *TR
I HAVE A 2013 HONDA ACCORD V6 COUPE. WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT I WAS ABLE TO JUST MISS A CURB AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR DOWN AND RESTARTING THE PROBLEM CLEARED. WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TODAY. *TR
AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT LOW SPEED FROM A STOP SIGN, MY CAR LOST STABILITY AND STEERING FELT UNUSUAL. TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER. THE TWO SUBSEQUENT TURNS (RIGHT AND THEN LEFT) ON THE SAME DRIVE YIELDED SIMILAR FEELINGS. WHEN I LOOKED INTO THIS, I FOUND REPORTS OF AN INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA REGARDING LOSS OF POWER STEERING ON THESE VEHICLES. I BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT WAS RELATED AND FELT IT BEST TO FILE A REPORT. *TR
THE POWER STEERING FAILED LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND WASN'T ABLE TO STEER. WAS ABLE TO PARK AND RESTART CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERS THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK. CAR WAS AT DEALERS FOR 6 DAYS. *TR
THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING AS THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN. IT ALSO STALLED OUT AND WAS HARD TO START BACK UP. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THE FIX WAS THE REPAIR OF THE "TORQUE ANGLE SENSOR AND HARNESS." *TR
IN TWO INCIDENT THAT STEERING WHEEL STOP WORKING: LAST WEEK WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND TRIED TO DRIVE IT AND TODAY (OCT 7, 2014) WHILE I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 35-40 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT WORKING AND I HAD TO STOP AND SWITCH THE ENGINE OFF AND AFTER 2 MINUTES START THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN FARRIS RD AT ~40 MPH THE EPS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE WAY BACK FROM MY PREGNANT WIFE'S DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. WE PULLED OVER TO THE NEAREST EMPTY PARKING LOT AND READ THE MANUAL. WE HADN'T BEEN DOING ANY OF THE THINGS THE MANUAL SAID WOULD CAUSE THIS. OVER THE NEXT 10 MILES THIS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES. ONCE WHILE SITTING STILL IN A DRIVE THROUGH LINE. WE CALLED OUR HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THE OFFERED TO LET US SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AND RECEIVE A SHUTTLERIDE HOME. MY WIFE GOT US SLIGHTLY BETTER SERVICE WITH A FACEBOOK POST AND THEY OFFERED TO LOOK AT OUR CAR THAT DAY AND COMPED US A RENTAL CAR UNDER WARRANTY. SEVERAL HOURS LATER WE RECEIVED A CALL THAT AFTER SPEAKING WITH THEIR TECH SUPPORT THEY WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE RACK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FROZE,AND LIGHT CAME ON . WAS ABLE WITH GREAT FORCE, TO MAKE IT HOME. VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE! THE VEHICLE STEERING SIMPLY 'SHUT-DOWN', OR LOCKED-UP OUT OF NOWHERE. IT APPEARS THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM SIMPLY FAILED. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING BY BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP IN ORDER TO TURN IT OFF AND THEN RESTART IT... AS THOUGH I WERE REBOOTING A CRASHED COMPUTER! THE ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF THREE TIMES THE NEXT DAY, ONCE WHILE DRIVING AT FULL SPEED ON A PUBLIC STREET. WE RESOLVED TO STOP DRIVING IT, BUT BY REFLEX I TOOK IT OUT THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAY ONLY TO HAVE THE ISSUE RECUR TWICE, THANKFULLY NONE OF THESE FAILURES OCCURRED WHILE WE WERE EXECUTING A TURN, OTHERWISE WE MAY HAVE CRASHED INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE, AS SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS DESCRIBE. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AND GET OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. I PULLED INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, I PUT THE CAR BACK IN GEAR AND THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY, I STARTED THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING. THE STEER WHEEL HAS JERKED TO THE LEFT/RIGHT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE POWER STEERING WHEN COMPLETELY OUT. 2013 HONDA ACCORD (20K MILES) ISSUE: DEFECTIVE RACK-N-PINION I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY ACCORD IN REVERSE AND REALIZED THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IT APPEARED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP OR SOMETHING WAS HOLDING ME FROM BACKING UP. I ALSO NOTICED AN ORANGE STEERING WHEEL INDICATOR ON MY DASH. (PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MY VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION. I'VE HAVE IT FOR OVER A YEAR AND I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN). I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR A SECOND TIME. ON JAN 24TH, 2013 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR A PROBLEM WITH MY POWER STEERING. THE EPS (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING) SYSTEM INDICATOR CAME ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND LOST POWER STEERING DURING THOSE TIMES. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES. ON FEB 5TH, 2013 THE INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE FIXED. THEN ON AUG 21ST, 2014 THE POWER STEER PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND HONDA TRIED AGAIN TO FIX THE INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING PROBLEM. ON AUG 22ND, I DROVE MY HONDA ACCORD OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO TURN AROUND AND BRING IT BACK BECAUSE THE CARS' EPS (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING) SYSTEM INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF AGAIN AND I LOST POWER STEERING DURING THAT TIME. I'M NOW WAITING TO SEE IF THE INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING PROBLEM...

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 25 MPH, SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AS I WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF BLOCKS FROM HOME, I WAS ABLE TO HARD STEER IT HOME. SPOUSE TURNED ENGINE OFF, STARTED IT BACK UP AND POWER STEERING RESET. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. DID DIAGNOSTIC AND DETERMINED : DIAGNOSE EPS SYSTEM PER ISIS. FOUND FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR. REPLACE COMPLETE POWER STEERING RACK AND PERFORM ALIGNMENT. AFTER READING OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, I AM HOPEFUL THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I HIT THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR IN A PARKING GARAGE. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. MY HUSBAND BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE SERVICE CENTER AT HONDA OF BOWIE. THE SERVICE FOLKS SAID IT WAS FIXED AFTER DOING A COMPUTER UPDATE. I BROUGHT IT BACK BECAUSE THE PROBLEM KEPT REOCCURRING. MY HUSBAND BROUGHT IT BACK IN AGAIN ON JULY 2, 2014 BECAUSE THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE LAST "FIX." THE SERVICE PERSONNEL DID ANOTHER COMPUTER RESET AND MY CAR HAS HAD THE SAME POWER STEERING PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. TODAY (MONDAY, JULY 7, 2014), THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN AND STEERED THE CAR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC RESULTING IN ANOTHER NEAR MISS. I HAVE CALLED HONDA OF BOWIE TO GET A LOANER VEHICLE BUT THEY ARE OUT OF LOANER VEHICLES SO I NEED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO AND FROM...

PICK THIS VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER GOT ONE EXIT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED AROUND BECAUSE EVEN HOLDING THE STEEL WILL PERFECTLY STRAIGHT WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL THE CAR JUST DRIFTS FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE LANE AND IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO KEEP CONTROL OF WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THEY PUT IT BACK ON THE ALIGNMENT MACHINE AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ALIGNMENT, I ALSO AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I ALSO POINTED OUT A VISUAL DEFECT IN THE PAINT ON THE HOOD OF THE CAR WHICH THE DEALER SAID I'LL WILL CALL YOU BACK IN A WEEK OR TWO AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE HOOD REPAINTED I HAVE YET FIVE MONTHS LATER YET TO HEAR BACK FROM THIS DEALER...
AS MY VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING ONTO A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP, I LOST ALMOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE, AND IT BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND MY TIRE WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, AND PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED HAD A CAR BEEN FOLLOWING CLOSE BEHIND. ONCE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE, A BURNING ODOR COULD BE SMELLED BY ALL 4 PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY TIRES. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS WHICH ARE PENDING. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE NEW "CVT" TRANSMISSION, AND I SUSPECT THIS MAY BE PART OF THE PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN A BRAND NEW CAR, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SURE. *TR

IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE LANE NEXT TO THE DRIVER, AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. AFTER FIRST AND SECOND INCIDENT, HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN BURLESON, TX STILL SAY THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. HONDA OF BURLESON IS STILL IN POSSESSION OF THIS VEHICLE. THEIR ADVICE TO US WAS TO TRADE IT IN AND THEY WOULD SELL IT AT AUCTION. WE FOUND THAT TO BE UNACCEPTABLE. NO ONE SHOULD BE DRIVING THIS CAR, AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

AS I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEER FROZE UP. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING AND ALMOST WENT INTO A BUILDING. THE STEERING WHEEL THEN RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE ELECTRONIC POSITION SENSOR AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,162 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1 6,922.
MY NEW 2013 HONDA ACCORD EX-L HAS A PUSH BUTTON START/STOP. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND THE CAR IN DRIVE (ITS AN AUTOMATIC), IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY PUSH THE ENGINE START/STOP BUTTON, IT CUTS THE POWER TO THE ENGINE. SO YOU CAN EFFECTIVELY TURN THE CAR OFF, LOOSE POWER TO THE ENGINE AND LOOSE THE POWER STEERING WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND YOU ARE DRIVING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THIS TO A CAR WITH A KEYED IGNITION WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. ADDITIONALLY, THE ENGINE START/STOP BUTTON IS RIGHT NEXT TO THE AIR CONDITIONING BUTTONS. I WAS TRYING TO ADJUST THE AIR CONDITIONING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO LOOK AT THE AIR CONDITIONING BUTTONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN TO THE RIGHT AND COULD ONLY BE TURNED WITH FORCE. THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHICH CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED WITHIN THE STEERING RACK. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN I WAS TURNING RIGHT I NOTICED SOME DIFFICULTY IN STEERING (THE STEERING WAS DIFFICULT AND TIGHT) SO I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THE INCIDENT COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED BUT NOTED BY THE DEALER. ON THE 6TH I WAS DRIVING HOME AND TURNING RIGHT ONTO MY STREET AND THE STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS AFRAID I WAS ABOUT TO END UP IN MY NEIGHBORS YARD AND INTO MY NEIGHBOR! IT TOOK VERY GREAT EFFORT TO STEER THE CAR AND STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY I DROVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO THE DEALER AND THEY WITNESSED THE PROBLEM. I RECENTLY HEARD FROM THE SERVICE DEPT AND THEY TOLD ME A "CODE" APPEARED ON THIS AND THEY WERE CHECKING THE "RACK" - THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH STEERING WITH THE CAR MOVING STRAIGHT FORWARD. I WILL BE WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR...
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I VEERED TO THE LEFT AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED FREE SPINNING AND THE TIRES WERE NOT CONTROLLED BY THE STEERING WHEEL ANY LONGER. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I HIT A WALL AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. HONDA HAS NEVER COME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AS I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND A CAR WAS VEERING INTO MY LANE. AS I WENT TO THE LEFT MY STEERING WHEEL JUST KEPT SPINNING AND THE TIRES WERE GOING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I COULDN'T CONTROL THE CAR BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT CORRESPONDING WITH THE TIRES.
