The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there were several mechanical failures with the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a failure with the ignition switch, and the key could not be removed from the cylinder, and the shift lever failed to shift into drive(D), park(P), or into reverse(R). The contact stated that while the vehicle was in drive(D), the drive(D) indicator was flashing. Additionally, the contact had been having a failure of the power steering assist. The contact stated that the steering wheel was difficult to turn to the left or to the right. The contact was unaware of any warning lights during the power steering failure. The contact stated that the power steering failure was recurring. There was also a failure with the transmission. The contact's sister-in-law owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission failed to shift properly; however, the engine revved abnormally. The driver pulled to the side of the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle responded as needed after being restarted on several occasions; however, the failure persisted on other occasions. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the transmission failed to shift into the intended gear. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. (Please check the attached full complaint letter) I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning matter regarding my experience with the American Honda Motor Company. As a loyal consumer and a law-abiding citizen, I believe it is crucial to address issues that impact consumers and the general public. Since 2013, I have been trying to resolve a critical issue with my brand-new Honda Accord car I bought from Honda. Unfortunately, American Honda company didn’t resolve the issue that affected my car and hundreds of thousands of the same cars’ owners that they sold in NJ and in 22 salt belt states. My argument with the American Honda company is that they have a major design issue with their front left and right axles for Honda Accord cars that have been manufactured since 2003.
Theirs a humming or whining sound and burning odors on the transmission. Slipping on transmission gear.
After car had leaking valve cover gaskets replaced the TCS and BRAKE indicator lights illuminated. Couldn’t reset. All fuses and light bulbs were good. E-brake limit switch OK, brake pedal switch ok but had small crack so REPLACED. TCS, BRAKE light went off then returned within 3 mins now with ( ! ) indicator light illuminated. Made appt with Honda Dealer however 2 days before appt vehicle lost traction at 50 mph brakes went to floor vehicle began to fishtail and driver was unable to correct steering or brake. This lead to a solo vehicle accident off the side of road.
My transmission ffails while deiving causes it to go into limp mode and stops on contact

The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the transmission erroneously downshifted into 3rd gear causing the vehicle to abruptly reduce speed to approximately 25 mph. The contact indicated that the transmission remained stuck in 3rd gear. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 287,000.
I AM ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. AT ABOUT 118,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 55 MPH AND IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, HARD ENOUGH THAT THE TIRES SCREECHED. IT WAS VERY TERRIFYING AS WELL AS HAVING THE POTENTIAL TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEMS. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THE TRANSMISSION IN THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD HAS BEEN PLAGUED BY PROBLEMS FROM THE ONSET. I AM JUST VERY FORTUNATE THAT NOTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED TO ME WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, OR I WOULD NOT BE HERE MAKING THIS POST.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED KEY WON'T TURN
TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR A MAINTENANCE REPAIR TO GET A BRAKE LINE JOB DONE. AFTER THEY COMPLETED THE JOB I TOLD HONDA TO PUT MY VEHICLE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM, TO CHECK FOR ANY OTHER ISSUES WHICH THEY DID. SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH IT NO ISSUES. DROVE HOME FINE NEXT DAY COMES, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THIS TIME I WENT AND GOT THE DIAGNOSTIC DONE ON MY VEHICLE MYSELF. COME TO FIND OUT IT'S A TRANSMISSION/TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM, WHICH HONDA DIDN'T CHECK OR TELL ME ABOUT, LOOK UP REVIEWS ABOUT THE MY VEHICLE, AND A LOT OF OTHER HONDA OWNERS OF MY EXACT MODEL SAYS THE SAME HOW BAD THE TRANSMISSION IS IN THIS VEHICLE.

TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NEW TRANSMISSION WAS BAD ALSO. WASTED MONEY FOR THE SAME THING MULTIPLE TIMES AND HONDA WILL NOT HELP. THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE SAME EXACT MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. IT IS HARD TO FIND A TRANSMISSION, AND AFTER SEEING THE RECALL AND IT MATCHING BOTH TRANSMISSIONS I DON'T SEE WHY WE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP SPENDING MONEY ON FAULTY PARTS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT WAS BRAKING BY ITSELF WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND AFTER SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED AND BEYOND THE SECOND GEAR, IT IS SLIPPING. THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THAT DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY LED TO AN ACCIDENT BY BEING REAR ENDED OR WORSE. HONDA SHOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION.

SERVICE RECORDS SHOW 2ND GEAR OIL JET ADDITION AT 25,500 MILES, AND ALL SUBSEQUENT SERVICING DONE AT MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED INTERVALS, AS INDICATED BY PRINTED SHOP RECEIPTS FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP. AFTER DRAIN AND FILL DONE AFTER FIRST CODE THROWN AT 106,000 MILES, 50 MILES LATER THE SAME P0741 CODE THROWN. LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP DID TEARDOWN AND SAID THAT TORQUE CONVERTER SHOWS SIGNS OF OVERHEATING, METAL SHAVINGS IN FLUID, AND SEVERELY WORN AND BROKEN CLUTCH MATERIALS ( I HAVE PICTURES OF SAID DAMAGE).

THE 3RD GEAR IN MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD ALMOST COMPLETELY GIVEN OUT. THE FIRST INCIDENT OF FAILURE WAS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. TRANSMISSION FAILED ON MY 2003 3.0 AUTOMATIC HONDA ACCORD.
COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OR REBUILDING OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. NOTE, THIS IS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.
HI! AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM AN OWNER OF A HONDA ACCORD 2003. I HAVE RECENTLY TAKEN IT FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. WHILE I WAS DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS SPECIFIC YEAR AND MODEL, HAD SOME OTHER ISSUES OR RECALLS TOO. FOR EXAMPLE, THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. HIS CAUGHT MY ATTENTION SINCE I THINK I DO HAVE A PROBLEM PROBABLY RELATED TO IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MAY LAST YEAR, FROM AN ACQUAINTANCE, AND SOON AFTER, I NOTICED A SHAKING IN THE GAS PEDAL, EVERY TIME I WAS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25 TO 35 MPH (CITY AND HIGHWAY). THE SHAKING ALWAYS GO AWAY WHEN I STOP SPEEDING IT FOR A SECOND, AND THEN CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE. IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN. IT FIRST, AND BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE TURN ON, I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE...
NOVEMBER 30, 2016 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND SLIPPING. ON DECEMBER 1, I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND A REPAIR WAS DONE. THE NEXT DAY. DECEMBER 2 THE PROBLEM RECURRED AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE FAILURE OF THIS CLASS OF TRANSMISSIONS IS DOCUMENTED THROUGH RECALLS. MY TRANSMISSION AT THE TIME OF RECALL HAD NEW COOLING LINES AND KITS INSTALLED. NO INSPECTION WAS DONE BY CAMERA.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. SUDDEN DECELERATION CAUSED BY TRANSMISSION. VERY LUCKY NOT TO BE REAR ENDED. *JS
AFTER BEING SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT OF TIMING BELT AND DRIVE BELT, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. WHEN I PRESS ON GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE INTO GEAR WHEN DRIVING AT CITY SPEED OR HIGHWAY MERGING. THE MECHANIC SAID THE TRANSIMISSION IS BAD. THE CAR HAS ONLY 63K MILES. AFTER RESEARCH ON INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THE 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 HAS THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT RECALL SINCE IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUES. WELL, DRIVING AT 70 AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR WOULD GO CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *JS
VERBATIM THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS EVERYONE ELSE. HONDA WAS UNWILLING TO COMPROMISE ON THIS FAULTY PART THAT'S WELL DOCUMENTED, HENCE THE INVOLUNTARY RECALL BY THE NHTSA. WE OFFERED TO WORK WITH THEM BY TRADING THIS MODEL IN FOR A NEWER ONE, TALK ABOUT US WILLING TO FORGET AND FORGIVE FOR BRAND LOYALTY. APPARENTLY HONDA DOESN'T CARE NOT WILLING TO DO EVEN THIS. THIS IS MY FOURTH HONDA AND WILL BE MY LAST. AVERAGE COST OF OWNERSHIP HAS BEEN 1000/MONTH, AT THIS POINT I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE TESLA I REALLY WANTED.
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V-6 HAS 229000 MILES AND IS NEED OF ITS FOURTH SET OF ENGINE/MOTOR MOUNTS. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL ACCORDS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR JERKS UPON TAKE OFF AND MAKES GRINDING SOUNDS WHEN DECELERATING . ALSO, THE CAR SQUEAKS, MOANS, AND GROANS WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT IS RARE FOR A CAR TO NEED MOTOR MOUNTS SO OFTEN FOR A VEHICLE. DUE TO THE BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS, THE CAR'S OIL PAN HAS BEGUN TO LEAK DUE TO MOVEMENT OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AND POWER STEERING FLUIDS ARE LEAKING DUE TO THE MOVEMENT. ALSO, MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL, BUT IT DOES CONCERN ME. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A PROBLEM OR IF IT...
WHILE DRIVING ON THE 210 FREEWAY TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED SUDDENLY WITHOUT A WARNING AND RPM SHOT UP TO 6,000 REVS BRINGING THE CAR TO ALMOST A STANDSTILL WITH CARS BEHIND ME GOING AT 70 MPH ALMOST REARENDING MY CAR.
THE CAR IS SHIFTING WHILE IN MOTION. TRANSMISSION JUMPS WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR. CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. CERTIFIED TECHICIAN ADVISED US NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR.
DRIVER'S SIDE AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY SNAPPED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THIS OCCURRED WHEN I WAS TAKING A SLOW LEFT TURN.
JUNE 2015: TORQUE CONVERTER: CAR WHEN ACCELERATING SLAMMED OUT OF GEAR AND FELT LIKE WE HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED. CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. RADIO: RADIO SYSTEM BACK LIGHT BROKE AT 60,000 MILES CURRENT ISSUE: GEAR SHIFT KNOB FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING. DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING CAR AND BUMPED GEAR SHIFT AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. CALLED HONDA COMPLAINT LINE TO COMPLAIN AND THERE WAS NO ACTION OR CONCERN REGARDING THE CURRENT ISSUE OF THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB.
