hard shifting transmission and fluid smells burnt, shifts hard in the lower gears and reverse
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was veering to the right or to the left and was moving upwards and downwards. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was veering excessively to the left or to the right while turning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the front brakes were replaced, and the contact was informed that the sway bar end links were fractured due to rust. The contact stated that upon inspecting underneath the vehicle, the lower parts of the links had detached, and one of the links was flapping. The contact purchased new parts from the dealer, and the mechanic replaced the links. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hard shifts while driving from a complete stop and while coming to a stop. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer...
Truck completely shuts off at any speed going down the highway. Complete loss of power. Have to coast to side of road and restart vehicle.
Truck randomly shuts off and steering wheel locks up going down the road
Catastrophic transmission failure. Original transmission failed at 113,00 miles. I replaced it at the dealership with a factory rebuilt transmission and that transmission failed after only 40,000 miles. Now the vehicle is back in the dealership shop and they want me to replace the transmission a third time. This transmission is the 6L80 which is prone to fail, the torque converter fails and the transmission locks up I contacted General Motors and filed a complaint with them and they said they would not take any action or assist me with the repair.
Within the first week of buying my 2014 GMC 1500 SIERRA, the transmission fluid was black in griddy. I have had it flushed, then filter changed and new fluid put in within 2 week time frame. A week later had to put a new transmission in it. It barely would drive. So a purchase at 2,999 then to a transmission 4,800 and new control arm with ball joint with new axels. They were busted. Another 2,000. Its sicking. Advice
During a turn in the parking lot my vehicle would not allow me to turn something with traction control came up on the screen. The past few days the car got stuck at 0 rpms while driving and did not feel I had adequate power and other times has stalled.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at speeds of approximately 35 MPH, the transmission shifted abnormally, and the vehicle started vibrating. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at speeds of 65 MPH and higher, the failure worsened. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.
Transmission shutter, not shifting correctly. Had to replace transmission
I was driving around a lake with my family. We were fishing. I had no warning at all and my transmission started to sputter and jerk extremely bad and my brakes did not work at the same time. I had to use my parking break to stop my family and I from going into the lake at 40mph. I looked up on many websites and forums and saw multiple people with the same issue. I am afraid that this will happen to a young driver and it be very tragic. Please do a recall. My truck is still sitting at my house broken. I am on disability and can not afford to fix it. I just keep paying my payments with no use of my truck. Please I beg of you.
There is a torque converter recall on the 2014 GMC sierra 1500 however my vehicle was not included in the recall but my transmission / torque converter went out.
Failed transmission
A loud clunk is heard from the transmission when shifting from one gear to anther after having to reduce acceleration.
At slow speeds, multiple times, I have had the truck completely have an electrical failure and the engine shut off. I have replaced the negative battery cable and ensured all connections are good. This has happened on streets when turning and in parking lots. When this happens all of the screens in the truck flicker and the service stabilitrack light comes on and then everything goes out, to include the engine. Myself, my family, and other drivers have been out at risk when the truck completely shuts off on a street. The dealership has not been able to give me an answer. There are many forums online where the 2014-2018 year models of this and similar GM vehicles have had the same problem. We need a specific fix for this before someone gets seriously injured or killed.
Transmission lost power
Transmission problems
I am losing engine power. My OBD2 gives me P2138 and P0700 codes. I have changed the accelerator and knock sensors.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the transmission inadvertently shifted to neutral(N) and the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V374000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.
My lifters bent and my valves collapsed. I have had the vehicle repaired twice. No engine light warning. Also in Nov of 2022 oil is leaking into my cylinders. Common problem on several GM forums.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle began to vibrate and made loud grinding sounds. The contact stated that the vehicle began to lose motive power. The contact's wife was able to exit the highway; however, the transmission was slipping out of gear. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become constant. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,302.
Going under 15mph, applying the brake causes the pedal to become stiff and lock up and not work. This has caused me to almost hit someone in traffic. I immediately got off the road and got my vehicle to a safe location off the road . Communicating with a dealer today to confirm possible recall issue or potential repairs.
My truck goes into “neutral” or doesn’t have power while driving at times and can cause a car crash.
My vehicle recently started "shuttering" while driving. Service report says it is a "common GMC issue with the Torque Converter", $3200. They also reported a "substantial leak" in the radiator, and again, says it is a very common fault of GMC Trucks. And another $2700. If these conditions are as common as they indicate, why are there no corrective measures?
I was driving and was almost home when I heard a pop and started getting jerked back and forth and then just slowed down almost to a complete stop with vehicles approaching quickly almost causing a multiple vehicle pile up I’ve heard multiple people complain about the particular transmission that is put in these gmc and chevy 1500s and am just confused with all of the problems I see on the internet and hear from peers in person why it has not been recalled yet if need be I will make a survey of gmc and chevy owners to let it be known that the transmissions on these vehicles were poorly built and need to be recalled before anybody has this problem that I had today
transmission shifting rough
From time to time the vehicles power system will surge, blink, and generally act up. The priblem is intermittent. The check engine light will come in then go off, the engine has completely cut off several times while driving, the transmission acts up, radio will turn off, 120v outlet will turn off, occasionally the vehicle will fun for 5-15 seconds after being turned off and then sputter off. And 95% of the time the truck is absolutely fine.

THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION MAKES CLUNKING SOUNDS, AND JERKING MOVEMENTS WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING (HIGHWAY). WHEN STOPPED ON AN INCLINE THE VEHICLE DRIFTS BACKWARD, ONCE YOUR REMOVE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE (STREET). THE VEHICLE HAS ROLLED BACKWARDS WHILE IT WAS FULLY PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WAS IF MY TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AND MY CAR LOST POWER. IT THEN AUTOMATICALLY CAME BACK ON AND THE 'SERVICE STABILITRAK' LIGHTS CAME ON. I NEARLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY CONDENSING UNIT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. ONCE AT 75,000 MILES, WHICH WAS COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED, NOT BY GM, AND THE OTHER BROKE AT 107,000 MILES IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR. THIS IS A JOKE! I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY OIL COOLING LINES TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, WHICH WERE ALSO NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
TOOK THE TRUCK TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DUE TO THE TRUCK IN DRIVEWAY WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE SO HUSBAND PUT IT IN DRIVE TO PULL UP A LITTLE TO SEE IF IT WOULD HELP TO THEN GO INTO REVERSE, INSTEAD, THE TRUCK JERKED SO HARD & ALMOST THREW MY HUSBAND & SON INTO THE GARAGE DOOR THAT MORNING. HUSBAND & SON CAME BACK IN ALL SHOOK UP. THE SCAN DIAGNOSTIC CODE-CHCK SHOWED: TRANS FLUID-INDEED FULL; BUT WAY BURNT; NEEDS TRANSMISSION; FRONT PUMP MAKING NOISE IN TRANSMISSION; TORQUE CONVERTER; EXHAUST SHOWS SIGNS OF BACK PRESSURE-AND ONE RUNNING HOTTER THAN THE OTHER; THE LEFT SIDE RUNNING 100+ HOTTER THAN THE RIGHT - NEEDS TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY REMOVED & REPAIRED; REMAN GM TRANS; Y-PIPE W/BOTH CONVERTERS; FLUIDS FLUSH NUTS BOLT GASKETS. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE IT. I AM RETIRED MILITARY AND MAINTAINED THE TRUCK...
2014-2015 GMC SIERRAS WERE PRODUCED WITH A KNOWN FAULTY A/C CONDENSER WITH A BAD WELD THAT CAUSES AN A/C SYSTEM LEAK REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. THERE HAS BEEN AN OVERWHELMING FAILURE OF THE PRODUCT ACROSS THE COUNTRY, SO BAD SO THAT IT EVEN MADE THE NEWS. GM BECAME AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND SENT NEW (PROPERLY PRODUCED) CONDENSERS TO THEIR PRODUCTION LINES FIRST, LEAVING HUNDREDS OF GMC OWNERS WITHOUT A/C OVER THE SUMMER. THEY PUT OUT A "SPECIAL RECALL" ON A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF VINS SAYING IT "MAY" HAPPEN IN OTHER VINS. THERE IS AN OVERWHELMING VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE (INCLUDING MYSELF) WHERE GM IS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS ISSUE BUT REFUSING TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THEIR FAULTY PART FOR HUNDREDS OF OWNERS HAVING THIS ISSUE. THIS REPAIR COST ME A LITTLE OVER $1300. IN THE SAME SERVICE VISIT FOR MY AC CONDENSER IT WAS IDENTIFIED THAT MY RADIATOR WAS LEAKING....
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ONE DAY AROUND 65MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER VIOLENTLY, REDUCING MY SPEED TO LESS THAN 45MPH ALL THE WAY HOME (ALL THE WHILE STILL SHUDDERING) I TOOK IT TO A WELL KNOWN TRANSMISSION SHOP "WHITTY TRANSMISSIONS" IN OAK RIDGE NJ ONLY TO HAVE THEM DROP THE PAN AND FIND THE TRANSMISSION FLOODED WITH METAL CHIPS COSTING ME A $3900+ REBUILD. MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 87,000 MILES
I OWN A 2014 GMC SIERRA AND THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER HAS GONE OUT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE SO MANY GMC & CHEVROLET ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO HELP IS BEING OFFERED TO US. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT FROM GMC. IF I WOULD OF BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS DEFECT I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THESE TRUCK. NOW I'M DRIVING AROUND IN 110 DEGREES WITH MY LITTLE SON. RECALL AND FIX THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER BOYFRIEND'S MECHANIC CAME OVER AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
SERVICE 4WD WOULD POP UP ON MY SCREEN EVERYTIME I STARTED MY TRUCK FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS GOING TO WORK. WHEN I GO SLOW AROUND TURNS THEN THE TRUCK WOULD ALMOST STOP. FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE ACTUATOR AND MY 4WD IS TRYING TO GO INTO 4-LOW AUTOMATICALLY. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIT ME IN FOR A WEEK, SO I TOOK IT A TRANSMISSION PLACE BECAUSE THIS IS MY WORK TRUCK AND NOW HAVE ALL MY TOOLS IN MY WIFE'S ACADIA. I HAVE A 32 FT LADDER ON MY TRUCK THAT I'M GOING TO NEED ASAP AND CAN'T PUT ON WIFE'S ACADIA SO I COULD NOT WAIT ON THE DEALERSHIP TO FIT ME IN. ALL TRANS TRANSMISSION PLACE HAS HAD IT SINCE 3 PM ON JULY 7TH AND I JUST PAID $438 FOR A PART AND I'M UP TO THREE SHOP HOURS SO FAR THAT I HAVE TO PAY...
AT SPEEDS HIGHWAY SPEEDS 50 AND ABOVE THE TRUCK CAN SHACK HORRIBLE CAUSING TO APPLY VEHICLES HAZARDS AND PULLING OFF THE ROAD FOR FEELING LIKE THE TRUCK IS COMING APART WITH THE FEAR OF LOOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE HORRIBLE SHACK CAUSE NAUSEA AND DIZZINESS. I HAVE REPLACED WHEELS AND TIRES, SHOCKS, RE ALIGNED AND BALANCED MULTIPLE TIMES NOTHING HAS FIXED THE ISSUE. WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH A GMC DEALER ABOUT THIS SITUATION . *TR
RADIATOR HAS MICRO-HOLES WHICH LEAKS COOLANT. ENGINE CODE P0455 WITH NO GM MECHANICS ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE ENGINE CODE. *TR
THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEAD LIGHTS ARE SO BAD THAT YOU CAN BARELY SEE AT NIGHT ONE OF THE WORST MOST DANGEROUS ISSUES I'VE EVER SEEN ON A VEHICLE PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW WE CAN REMEDY THE SITUATION
MY TRUCK HAS 158,000 MILES AND HAD TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN AS IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, GRINDING AND SOUNDING LIKE I WAS GOING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TOTALLY FAILED WHILE ENTERING UNTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF HIGHWAY ONTO EXIT RAMP PARTIALLY BLOCKING RAMP UNTIL WRECKER ARRIVED. REQUIRED COMPLETE REBUILD
RADIATOR IS LEAKING FROM THE TOP WITH ONLY 67,000 MILES AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND WHEN U LET OFF GAS WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 THE RPMS GO DOWN TO IDLE THEN START BOUNCING UP 500RPMS THEN BACK DOWN. THEN EVENTUALLY WILL FIND A GEAR TO GO IN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED TAHT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER. NO WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, A ROARING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK, LUNGE, AND SPUTTER WHEN STARTED. PRINCE AUTOMOTIVE GROUP CHEVROLET (4550 N VALDOSTA RD, SUITE #200, VALDOSTA, GA 31602, (866) 560-9556) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THAT SPECIFIC FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND A MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE STABILITRACK" MESSAGE APPEARS SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, THE CAR LOSES THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND MAINTAIN SPEED. I KEPT DRIVING BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SAFE PLACE TO STOP, AND AFTER A FEW MILES THE DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKED THEN LOCKED, THE INFO SCREEN FLASHED AND THEN THE ENGINE REVVED AND APPEARED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. SEVERAL MILES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, OVER AND OVER. WHEN I REACHED MY NIEGHBORHOOD THE CAR COMPLETELY POWERED OFF.
WHWN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH - TRIED TO PASS ACCIDENT SCENE TRUCK TAC STARTED REVING. SPEED DROPPED TO 25-30 MPH. PUSHING ACCELORATOR ONLY REVED THE ENGINE MORE WITH NO INCREASE IN SPEED. BURNING SMELL. DEALER UNABLE TO FIND CAUSE. HAPPENED TWICE.
WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT TRAFFIC TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WAS SUPER HEAVY AND KEPT GOING, BRAKE PEDAL GOT HARD AND COULD NOT PRESS DOWN. AC WENT OUT ON ME TWICE DO TO BAD COMPRESSOR AND HAD TO REPAIR AT DEALER. TRANSMISSION KNOCKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND HARD SHIFTS LIKE ITS GOING TO BREAK. ALSO VISIBILITY IS POOR ON VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AS THE LIGHT ARE VERY DIM. HAD TO BUY ALTERNATE LIGHTS BUT STILL DIM.
MY 2014 GMC SIERRA PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID WENT BAD. TOOK IT TO KNIGHT AUTOMOTIVE, INC., IN PLATTSBURGH, NY FOR REPAIR. AFTER REPAIR I DROVE HOME ONLY TO BE TOLD BY BILL DELORD GMC IN LEBANON, OH - AND BOERCHERDING GMC IN CINCINNATI, THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED. KNIGHT PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK BY IMPROPERLY REPAIRING MY VEHICLE.
FOR OVER 45K MILES I HAVE COMPLAINED OFF A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY GMC SIERRA AT 65 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR. MY SUPPORTING DEALER THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND IS MOST LIKELY OUT OF BUSINESS.THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. RECENTLY I WENT UNDER THE TRUCK TO FIND THE ENTIRE FRAME IS RUSTED FROM THE GAS TANK BACK TO THE REAR OFF THE VEHICLE AROUND THE SPARE TIRE AND ELSEWHERE. WHATS WRONG WITH GM MANUFACTURING, ARE THEY THAT CHEAP, THAT NO PAINT IS PLACE ON THE FRAME. ADDITIONALLY THE CHROME WHEELS THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE ARE CORRODING YET ANOTHER CHEAP PROCESS THAT GM REFUSES TO ADDRESS. MIND YOU I HAVE ALWAYS FIXED AND REPAIRED MY OWN VEHICLES. I HAVE WASHED THIS VEHICLE SO MUCH BY USING A COLD WATER HOSE UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THE TOP AS WELL TO GET THE...
