The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the headlights were dim, reducing the contact's ability to see the roadway while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for the headlights' replacement. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption, and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 370,000.
The high and low beams quit working while driving at night. This caused safety issue for myself and other drivers. Fuses good and bulbs good. Have seen multiple listings online about the same thing happening to other owners.
The headlights are dangerously dim, can't drive the vehicle comfortably at night. There seems to be no solution for fixing them. A TSB has been issued concerning this, but does little to address fixing the problem.
Back up lights and Tail light problems My Back up lights turn on when the headlights are turned on and do not shut off unless the headlights are off. Also, recently, the rear tail lights were burning out early and would last only two weeks. The source of the problem seems to be in the fuse box. There is no short in the system. It appears to be in the fuse box of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. Bulbs were replaced and burned out quickly. Replacement parts are expensive and this problem exists on other Chevrolet and GMC trucks.
Both headlamps stopped working when driving at night. Neither the low or high beams will work
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the passenger’s side headlight became inoperable. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the water pump had failed. Despite the failure, the contact managed to drive the vehicle home. The next day upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated and both engine fans began to run at full capacity. The contact called the dealer and made an appointment for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY PICK-UP ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH. I HAVE EVEN GONE TO THE EXPENSE OF HAVING BRAND NEW ONES INTALLED AND THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT IN THE LIGHTING. I CAN BARELY SEE ONE CAR LENGTH AHEAD OF ME WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, WHICH IS PROHIBITING ME FROM USING MY PICK-UP FOR NIGHT TIME DRIVING. THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE SPENT SUCH A LARGE SUM OF MONEY FOR A VEHICLE AND NOT BE ABLE TO SEE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THERE SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM.
2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 4WD ~75K MILES. SOMETIMES WHEN I ROLL UP MY WINDOWS OR USE MY BLINKER AND IT SHUTS OFF CRUISE CONTROL (HWY). AND SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT MY BREAKS MY HEADLIGHTS WILL DIM (HWY, CITY STREETS, PARKING LOTS). WHEN I'M TURNING SLOWLY (IN PARKING LOTS) THE STEELING WILL OCCASIONALLY LOCK UP AND ONCE IT LOST POWER ENTIRELY. MY BATTERY WAS TESTED AT BIGO AND SAID IT WAS FINE. I'VE SEEN THIS ONLINE A LOT FOR THIS TRUCK AND SIMILAR YEARS, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A RESOLUTION. WITH SO MANY INCIDENTS I'M SHOCKED THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX OR ANY IDEA WHAT IS WRONG.
THE REVERSE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING WHICH IS AFFECTING THE REAR CAMERA AS WELL.

THE TIME YOU REACT YOU WILL BE OFF THE ROAD RESULTING IN A CRASH, BRINGING INJURY OR DEATH TO ONESELF OR ANOTHER OCCUPANT ON THE ROADWAY. THE HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION IS INADEQUATE BOTH ON LOW AND HIGH BEAMS. JUST UPGRADED FOR THE 2ND TIME THE BULBS FOR WHICH I HAVE ASCERTAINED THAT THE ILLUMINATION DOESN'T PROVIDE FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY AS WELL AS FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE. THIS IS NOT MERELY MY OWN OBSERVATION BUT FOR ALL THOSE WHO EITHER DRIVE OR ARE PASSENGERS IN THIS VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE PUBLIC FORUMS FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM...THEY HAVEN'T FOUND ANY CORRECTIVE SOLUTION. PLEASE, I IMPLORE YOU TO REVIEW AND FIND SOME SOLUTION TO GM'S INHERENT PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHARLIE'S CHEVROLET (877-688-4621, LOCATED AT 1412 U S 202, WINTHROP, ME 04364) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT UPGRADED TO HID BULBS ON HIS OWN, WHICH OFFERED BETTER LIGHTING THAN THE ORIGINAL BULBS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND IT LOOSES ALL POWER RANDOMLY WHEN TURNING , IT IS NOOW STARTED TO SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC WHEN LIGHTLY TAPPING THE BRAKES..

HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLT ARE TOTALLY INADEQUATE ON HIGH OR LOW BEAM. THE LIGHTING DISTANCE IS INADEQUATE AND IS SO DIRECTIONAL THAT THERE IS NO SIDE FLAIR LIGHTING FOR TURNING LIKE YOU HAVE WITH CONVENTIONAL HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY THE NHTSA. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 41/2 YEARS AND THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION. NEW HI/LOW BULBS, DEALER INSTALLED AND STILL VERY DIM AND UNSAFE.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ROLLED THE PASSENGER WINDOW UP THE STEREO CUT OFF THE GAUGES CUT OUT AND THE WIPERS WIPES IN ONE TIME. THEN A MESSAGE STATING STABILITRAK NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS OUT
THE VEHICLE'S HEADLIGHT HAVE SUCH POOR ILLUMINATION IT RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE AT NIGHT. GM SAYS NOTHING WRONG, I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WITH 3 DIFFERENT BULBS BOTH OEM AND AFTERMARKET NOTHING IMPROVES THE ILLUMINATION WITH THE STOCK LIGHT HOUSINGS.

I TEMPORARILY HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET APPROACHING A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION I MERGED INTO THE CENTER OF ST TO PASS A TRASHCAN AND IN THE PROCESS OF RETURNING TO MY CORRECT POSITION ON THE ROAD I SUDDENLY HAD NO STEERING. PANICKING FROM THE LOSS I PRESSED MY BRAKES AN ATTEMPT TO BRING VEHICLE TO A STOP BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL BECAUSE THE TIRES BEGAN A SLIDE ONCE NOTICING THE TRACTION LOSS I PROCEEDED TO RELEASE BRAKES AND REAPPLY IN HOPES OF GAINING TRACTION THE BRIEF RELIEF FROM BRAKES CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO REGAIN TRACTION AND WHILE I STILL HAVE NO CONTROL OVER STEERING, THE VEHICLE JERKS TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE BRAKES BEING REAPPLIED THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SLIDE OFF PAVEMENT MAKING CONTACT WITH STOP SIGN AND TELEPHONE POLE.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 1 JUST PAST MONTARA BEACH. IT WAS AROUND 7:30 PM AND ALREADY DARK. WE WERE GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, BOTH HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN. WE WERE APPROACHING AN EXTREMELY CURVY STRETCH OF ROAD ALONG OCEAN CLIFFS AND THERE WAS NOWHERE TO PULL OVER. THE SYMBOL ON THE DASH WAS LIT UP SAYING THAT OUR LIGHTS WERE ON (EVEN THOUGH THEY WEREN'T). THANKFULLY THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF US AND ONE BEHIND US THAT GAVE US ENOUGH LIGHT AND TIME TO REACT WHICH MEANT WE DIDN'T HAVE TO JAM ON OUR BRAKES AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. WE TRIED THE HIGH BEAMS WHICH ALSO DID NOT WORK. AFTER TURNING KNOBS AND PRESSING BUTTONS (WHILE DRIVING) TO GET SOME ILLUMINATION, WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO TURN ON THE FOG LIGHTS WHICH WAS ENOUGH TO GET...
DURING DRIVING, THE STABILITY SENSORS WOULD GO OFF AND SHOW UP STATING STABILITY TURNED OFF, OR POWER STEERING TURNED OFF. THE VOLTAGE ON VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY DROP FROM 15 TO 9 AND THEN BACK UP. THIS WILL USUALLY TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND ELECTRONICS. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH OTHER 2014 SIERRA AND SILVERADO OWNERS AND THEY ALL ADVISED THIS WAS OCCURING ON THEIR VEHICLES. THERE IS A GROUND WIRE THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED UNDER THE DASH WHICH CAUSES HIGH RESISTANCE MATERIAL TO CAUSE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. DURING ONE OF MY DRIVES TO WORK GOING 60 MPH, THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WHILE COASTING ON NO POWER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD CONTINUE TO GO. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK WHILE STATIONARY AS WELL. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS PICKUP MAKE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN RURAL SOUTH DAKOTA ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND EVEN DANGEROUS. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR ONLY 2 WEEKS AND FOUND IN ORDER TO DRIVE AT NIGHT I HAVE TO HAVE THE FOG LIGHTS ON TO SEE, AND EVEN THAN IT IS NOT MUCH BETTER. THE BRIGHTS HELP NONE. CAN'T EVEN TELL WHEN THEY ARE ON VRS NOT. THERE HAS TO BE A FIX OR SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS DANGEROUS.

THE HEADLIGHTS ON THESE TRUCKS ARE HORRIBLE. VERY UNSAFE TO USE.
POOR ILLUMINATION, AFTER A FEW DAYS THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED THE LIGHT POINTS VERY LOW THAT ITS ALMOST IMPOSIBLE TO SEE AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AND WITH A GOOD WEATHER.
PROBLEM WAS PRESENT FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT TRUCK NEW. I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA AND THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM TO DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER TWICE, ONCE TO REPLACE BULBS AND REPROGRAM THE BCM. STILL NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH TO FEEL SAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT. SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALER THEY ADJUSTED HEADLIGHT UP TO HIGH END OF SPEC. STILL NOT BRIGHT. I'M TO THE POINT OF INSTALLING AN AFTER MARKET HID KIT.
IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS, BEGINNING AT ABOUT 52K MILES, I STARTED RECEIVING MESSAGES ON MY TRUCK THAT SAID "STABILITY CONTROL" WAS OUT AND IT LOCKS THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL, LOSING ALL STEERING, THE RADIO AND THEN THE TRUCK GOES COMPLETELY DEAD. THE AC GOES ON/OFF AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER. THIS IS ALWAYS AT LOW SPEEDS BETWEEN 5-10 MPH AND MOST COMMONLY WHEN MAKING A TURN. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND NOW THEY'RE TELLING ME I NEED A NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE REPLACEMENT?

THEY EMIT A VERY POOR AMOUNT OF LIGHT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT AND BARELY ABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT IF IT IS RAINING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE POOR LIGHTING. I HAVE HAD THE UPGRADE DONE BY GM AND THAT DID NOT MAKE THESE LIGHTS MUCH BETTER AND DEFINITELY DID NOT MAKE IT SAFER TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS WITH THE UPDATED VERSION THEY HAVE INSTALLED IN THE 2016 MODELS.

I HIT A DEER STANDING N THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, DID NOT SEE IT TILL IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. MY WIFE HAS A 2006 TAHOE AND HER HEADLIGHTS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONE IN A 2014. GMC NEEDS TO FIX IT BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING
MY 2014 GMC SIERRA HAS VERY DIM HEAD LIGHTS, VERY DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE YOUR OWN LANE AT TIMES IN THE DARK. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WHEN IT'S RAINING AT NIGHT. MANY TIMES I'VE HAD TO DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE MY HEADLIGHTS WERE ON BECAUSE THERE SO DIM IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THERE ON AT ALL. IT MAKES FOR VERY NERVE RACKING DRIVING AT NIGHT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE HEADLIGHTS, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR GMC DRIVERS AND OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD.. TEST DRIVE ONE IN THE RAIN AT NIGHT OUT IN THE COUNTRY.. NOT IN TOWN , WITH STREET LIGHTS!!! *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS AND RUNNING LIGHTS ARE NOT ADEQUATE ENOUGH AT NIGHTTIME TO SEE . LIMITED SITE DISTANCE AND BRIGHTNESS. I DONT LIKE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS CREATING A SAFETY PROBLEM. LOOKING AT THE POSSIBILITY OF INSTALLING LED LIGHTS BUT DONT THINK I SHOULD BARE THE COST SINCE GMC HAS A PROBLEM THEY NEED TO CORRECT BEFORE I AM HURT DRIVING WITH THESE UNSUITABLE LIGHTS THEY HAVE INSTALLED ON THEIR VEHICLES.
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500 HEADLIGHTS ARE UNSAFE AT NIGHT ON DIM OR HIGH BEAM. CANNOT SEE CLOSE TO THE SIDES OR DISTANCE. WOULD BE EASY TO HIT A PEDESTRIAN. ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR IF THEY COULD FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON LINE AND DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING BEING DONE ABOUT IT. WHY ISN'T ANYTHING BEING DONE BEFORE PEOPLE GETTING KILLED OR INJURED..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH AT NIGHT TO SEE PAST 20 FEET. THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM I DOUBT IT WOULD BE ANY LESS SAFE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THEM OFF. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, AND MY FIRST TIME DRIVING AT NIGHT I HAD TO PARK, GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND CHECK TO SEE IF THE LIGHT BULBS WERE BURNED OUT. THE BULBS WERE NOT BURNED OUT, BUT THEY ALSO DO NOT FUNCTION AS HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY ILLUMINATE NOTHING. I CAN SEE THE SHADOW OF MY TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME IN OTHER VEHICLES HEADLIGHTS AS THEY PASS ME. IF AN OBJECT, AN ANIMAL, OR A PERSON WERE IN THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME I DOUBT I WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THEM BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE. I BELIEVE A SIERRA EQUIPPED WITH THESE HEADLIGHTS WILL LIKELY BE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH SERIOUS INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR EVEN DEATH. I CAN ONLY PRAY AND HOPE THAT...
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. I CAN NOT SEE VERY FAR DOWN THE ROAD AND I CAN NOT SEE THE SHOULDERS OF THE ROADWAY. IT IS NOT VERY SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEADLIGHTS.
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE UNSAFE FOR NIGHTTIME DRIVING ESPECIALLY IN DARKER RURAL AREAS AND IN BAD WEATHER. THE SIDE LIGHTING FROM THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NEARLY NONEXISTENT ESPECIALLY AROUND SHARP CURVES. IN ORDER TO READ SIGNS AT NIGHT I OFTEN HAVE TO USE MY HIGHBEAMS IN ORDER TO READ THEM REGARDLESS IF THERE IS TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME OR ONCOMING. I DRIVE HOME FROM WORK NIGHTLY WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON THE ENTIRE WAS UNLESS THERE IS A CAR CLOSE IN FRONT OF ME. I'VE YET TO HAVE ONCOMING TRAFFIC FLASH THEIR LIGHTS AT ME DO TO HAVING MY HIGHBEAMS ON. I HAVE MADE THE DEALERSHIP AWARE AS WELL AS CORPORATE GM . AS OF NOW THE ONLY ACTION THEY WILL TAKE IS TO REPLACE MY OLD BULBS WITH THE SAME BULBS THEY TOOK OUT. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE....
