MY 2016 FORD FOCUS SE GIVES ME GREAT CONCERN WHEN DRIVING AS THE TRANSMISSION CONSISTENTLY SKIPS/JERKS WHILE ACCELERATING. THERE WERE 2 SEPARATE INSTANCES WHERE I HAVE DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR HAS SKIPPED GEARS, CAUSING CHANGE OF SPEEDS AND NEARLY HAD 2 ACCIDENTS ON THE FREEWAY. MY MOST RECENT ONE WAS RIGHT BEFORE I DECIDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE BEEN TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER RIGHT BEFORE MY WARRANTY CLOSED AND REQUESTED THEY FIX, HOWEVER WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND IT OPERATES PROPERLY.
EARLIER IN JANUARY, I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 70 FROM KANSAS CITY TO ST. LOUIS AT THE RATE OF 77 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR DINGS AND SENDS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH "ENGINE FAILURE" AND THE CAR LITERALLY SHUTS DOWN. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR, NO LIGHTS, NO BRAKES, NOTHING! LUCKILY I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY OFF. STILL NOTHING... I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THANKFULLY IT STARTED. I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST PLACE TO HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTHING CAME UP. FINALLY GOT IT HOME. IT'S NOT DONE THIS AGAIN, BUT NOW IT RUNS ROUGH. LIKE REALLY ROUGH. I'VE HAD THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH FIXED ONCE ALREADY. LUCKILY IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I...

THE CONTACT PUT ON HIS HAZARD LIGHTS PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT VEHICLE MAY BE SUBJECTED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATION 96,000.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" MESSAGE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND FINALLY CAR SHUT DOWN. I TOOK INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TURBO AND ENGINE WERE NOT GETTING FUEL ON THE HIGHWAY PUMPED INTO THEM AND WOULD BOTH NEED REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CENTURY FORD OF MT. AIRY (302 CENTURY DR, MT AIRY, MD, (301) 829-2801), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND WHEN CHECKED AT AUTOZONE IT COMES BACK AS THE PVC WHICH IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH FOCUSES. ALSO, ON ONE OCCASSION, THE TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND THAT IS ALSO A KNOW ISSUE WITH FOCUSES. MY VEHICLE OFTEN STALLS AT INTERSECTION WHEN I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP AND IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART IN MOST CASES.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR IT STARTED MAKING NOISE WHEN I DROVE IT I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEMS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS IT STARTED MAKING THE SAME NOISES SO WHEN I HAD TIME A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT MY WARRANTY WAS NOT ACTIVE ANYMORE. IT MADE THE SAME NOISES THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN AND THEY NEVER SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION IT WAS A WHEEL PROBLEM. I'M ASKING FOR HELP ON WHAT TO DO THANKS.
WHILE DRIVING WITHIN CITY LIMITS ON A DAILY BASIS, MY VEHICLE SHUTTERS FROM THE START AND AT ACCELERATION, SOMETIMES STALLS AS I START TO ECCELERATE FROM RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS, CREATING POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WANT GO OFF, AND SMELLS OF FUEL WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN.
ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE 2 WEEKS AFTER SERVICE DEPT AT VIC BAILEY FORD REPLACED. INCIDENT REPORT. TOTAL LOSS AND LAWSUIT COMING IF NOT COMPENSATED FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. ENGINE IGNITED WITH ME IN VEHICLE! SERVICE BAY RELEASED CAR TO ME 2 WEEKS AGO. TOLD THEM WAS NOT FIXED FOR 2 WEEKS WAITED ON APPT. OIL LIGHT CAME ON AFTER DROPPING OF DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. MULTIPLE WITNESSES AND VIDEOS OF FIRE UNDER CAR AND THEN BLEW DUE TO HEAT SOURCE WHICH WAS ALL SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND PULLED OVER AS SOON AS OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND I SMELLED SMOKE. TURNED INTO NEAREST PARKING LOT OFF HIGHWAY 221, SPARTANBURG SC. ROEBUCK FIRE DEPT RESPONDED. WILL NOT DRIVER A VEHICLE FROM FORD EVER AGAIN!

ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SHUDDER IN THE TRANSMISSION AND HARD SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT, INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AFTER THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE WAS A NEW SYMPTOM THAT OCCURRED ONLY AFTER THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,573.
THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING AND DOES NOT SLOW DOWN PROPERLY WHEN DECELERATING. THIS CONDITION BECOMES WORSE ON HOTTER DAYS AND WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT. ALSO, WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR SHUDDERS THE WORSE. THE CAR ALSO FEELS UNSAFE WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS STAYING IN A HIGHER GEAR WHEN LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND NOT DOWNSHIFTING PROPERLY.

THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED AT 18,000 MILES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME AT 53,000 MILES. RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED AT 79,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. IN ADDITION, AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM), THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE STALLING. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE RESTRICTING THROTTLE RESPONSE WITH NO DASH INDICATORS. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO MESSAGES, ALL GAUGES IN NORMAL RANGE. UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN VEHICLE RESPONDS VERY SLOWLY WITH NO INDICATOR FOR DRIVER. VEHICLE IS THE 1.0 L ECOBOOST WITH 6MT TRANSMISSION.
MY 2016 FORD FOCUS SE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TWICE IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY JERKY AND THE ENGINE STUDDERS AND MAKES LOUD NOISES WHEN SHIFTING INTO 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT, YET THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE.

THE VEHICLE STALLED DURING A LEFT TURN INTO THE RIGHT LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS HIT AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO FORD PREVIOUSLY DUE TO CONCERNS OF STALLING/SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AT WHICH TIME THE DEALER DISCLOSED AN ISSUE WAS KNOWN THAT WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE. TAKATA RECALL THE CAR HAS A REALLY ROUGH IDDLE, STALLS AT RANDOM AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR DIFFERENT REASONS EVERY TIME I HAVE REPLACED THE 02 FILLTER TWICE AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH I HAD READ REPORTS THAT OTHER FORD FOCUS CARS HAD SIMMILAR PROBLEMS AND REPLACING THE PURGE IDDLE VALVE HAD SOLVED THEM, BUT AT THE MOMENT FORD IS ONLY ACKNOWLEDGING FOCUSES FROM ONE PATICULAR PLANT.

THE CAR ALREADY AT 50,000 MILES ON IT, I HAD IT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED STUTTERING VERY BADLY DURING SHIFTS SO I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 72,000 MILES AND THE STUTTERING DURING SHIFTS STARTED UP AGAIN.

RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN DECEMBER OF 2018 FOR THE ENGINE, AND IT STATES IN MY LETTER THAT I DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING, EXCEPT WAIT FOR A CALL/LETTER FROM MY DEALER SAYING THEY HAVE THE PARTS. SINCE IT IS GOING ON 7 MONTHS, AND I KNOW SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS CAR WHO GOT HIS FIXED IN FEBRUARY, I CAN ONLY ASSUME MY DEALER HAS DECIDED TO NOT SERVICE MY SAFETY RECALL, SINCE THEY ARE PROBABLY UPSET FROM TRYING TO TAKE MONEY FROM ME IN THE PAST AND GETTING REPORTED TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. PURCHASED VEHICLE IN AUG 2018. VEHICLE HAS STALL ON ME 4 TIMES SINCE I HAD IT ALSO, WENT TO THE FORD HOMESTEAD DEALER FOR RECALL ISSUES BUT CAR SEEM TO STILL STALL. NOW I THOUGHT THE REPAIR WAS FIXED AND THE WAS RETURNED TO ME ON 05/19/19 WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SO NOW THE CARE CONTINUE TO STALL.

ON NOVEMBER 4, 2018- WHILE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN, THE 2016 FORD FOCUS I WAS DRIVING STALLED OUT ON THE MAIN ROAD. ON JANUARY 4, 2019 I FILLED OUT A COMPLAINT ONLINE WITH THE NHTSA-( HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS) AT FIRST I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPLAINT WAS LOST BECAUSE OF A COMPUTER ERROR, THEN I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A HARD TIME EVERY TIME I CALL UP AND ASK ABOUT IT.
WELL WE BOUGHT THIS 2016 FORD FOCUS SE AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT RIGHT AND THEIR A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE AND IT CAN NOT BE FIX.WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS CAR AND THEY SHOULD BUY IT BACK.THEIR IS ALL KIND OF LAW SUITE ON THIS MATTER THEY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR US.
I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED. I WAITED A FEW MONTHS FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW WHEN I CAN BRING MY CAR IN. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT UPON MYSELF TO REACH OUT TO THEM AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. THAT BEING SAID, I HAD RESCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT SEVERAL TIMES (BECAUSE LIFE HAPPENS). I REACHED OUT AGAIN TO RESCHEDULE AND DID NOT RECIEVE A RESPONSE. I REACHED OUT THE LHM CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID SOMEONE WILL BE CONTACTING ME BUT NEVER DID. I FEEL LIKE I AM BEING IGNORED, AND I WANT THIS CAR FIXED OR OUT OF MY LEASE. MY CAR VIBRATES SINCE I BOUGHT IT, AND NOW IT KIND OF SHAKES WHEN I DO A TURN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SAM GALLOWAY FORD LINCOLN (1800 BOY SCOUT DR, FORT MYERS, FL 33907, (888) 699-0916) DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WAS NINE MILES OVER THE WARRANTY COVERAGE MILEAGE LIMIT. THE DEALER SUGGESTED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE, WHICH ONLY LASTED ONE WEEK. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE WITH ANOTHER ONE, WHICH LASTED SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE FAILING AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY STRANDED IN ANOTHER STATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
AS I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 67MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL I WAS IN THE 2ND LANE IN FROM THE RIGHT . I FELT SOMETHING BUMPY UNDERNEATH MY FEET AND AS I LOWERED MY RADIO I HEARD A SCRAPING SOUND AND THEN IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WENT UNDERNEATH MY TIRES AND I HEARD WHEN IT PULLED AND BROKE THE FRONT GRILL MADE ME SWERVE THANK GOD NO ACCIDENT. AS I WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT IT FELT LIKE I WAS DRAGGING THE PANEL AND PARTS OF MY BUMPER. SURE ENOUGH THE UNDERNEATH PANEL CAME OFF AND THAT'S WHAT CREATED THE WHOLE BODY DAMAGE.

I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A FOLLOW UP WITH A REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE, AND I FEEL LIKE I'VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH. INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE. FIRST ISSUE - MY CAR WOULD BE READING THAT I HAD (EXAMPLE) 15 MILES UNTIL EMPTY AND REALLY I HAD 0 MILES UNTIL EMPTY. RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE CLASS ACTION SUITS OVER THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH RECALLS FOR THE FOCUS. FORD DEALERS CHAPMAN FORD, HORSHAM AND HOFFMAN FORD, HARRISBURG, PA, ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THE FORD FOCUS 2016 CLUTCH THAT IS SLIPPING (ABOUT 48,000 MILES) WITH THEIR REASON BEING THAT THE CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE. THE CAR WAS IN A MINOR ACCIDENT THAT ONLY AFFECTED THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE TRANSMISSION, AND ANY DEALER CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT ALL THE TRANSMISSION AND SURROUNDING AREAS ARE NOT DAMAGED AND ARE ORIGINAL FORD PARTS. IT WAS REALLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF BODY WORK ON THE OPPOSING SIDE. IF A CLUTCH 'BLOWS UP', THE DRIVER CAN HAVE SERIOUS LEG DAMAGE, AND ALSO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CRASH POSSIBILITY. WHEN IT'S DRIVING UP A HILL IT'S MAKES A SOUND WHERE AS THE SPEED STAYS THE SAME AND DO WANT INCREASE. I BELIEVE IT'S THE CLUTCH IS SCRAPING WHEN IT RUNS. WHEN DRIVING SAME LEVEL DOES THE SAME BUT SOMETIMES UNEXPECTED.

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, TRANSMISSION/ENGINE STUTTERS MAKING THE CAR SHUDDER AT LOW SPEEDS. DELAYED AND INCONSISTENT ACCELERATION NOTED DURING SHUDDERING EPISODES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY ACCELERATION UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF ACCELERATOR IS ADVANCED MORE RAPIDLY, SHUDDERING NOT NOTED. CAR ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. LEAVING YOU WITH A DELAY TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY & SOMEWHAT OF A STALL OUT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DROP OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS AS IF SOMEONE IS PLAYING TUG OF WAR & CAN'T HOLD ONTO THE ROPE WHEN IT IS SHIFTING GEARS; SO IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL FALL OUT OF OR NOT CHANGE GEARS.
