MY VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY TELLING ME MY "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, PLEASE PULL OVER SAFELY" WHEN IM ON THE FREEWAY (NO TRAFFIC). I PULL OVER AND IT SAY "WAIT 5 MINUTES," WHICH I DO AND THEN IT WILL SAY "TRANSMISSION READY". SOMETIMES EVEN BEFORE I PULL OVER TO ALLOW TRANSMISSION TO COOL DOWN IT WILL FLASH "TRANSMISSION READY" BEFORE I CAN PULL OVER TO LET IT COOL DOWN.
THE CAR DOESN'T LIKE TO SHIFT TO ANY OTHER GEARS IT DRIVES HORRIBLY GOING DOWN HILLS OR BACKING OUT OF THE ROAD I HAVE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS MY CLUTCH IS BAD AND IT IS 1200 TO FIX IT .
WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE THE RPMS MAX OUT .IT WILL STUDDER FOR A FEW SECOND THEN THE RPMS WILL PLUMMET TO ZERO OR ONE.THE ENGINE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION.WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON A STRAIGHT FLAT ROAD.THE RPMS ARE ALL OVER THE ENGINE LOOSES POWER SURGES AND CUTS OUT.WHEN DRIVING UP HILL OR AN INCLINE THE ENGINE WILL LOOSE UP TO HALF ITS POWER AND THE CAR WILL DERASTICALLY LOOSE ACCELERATOR POWER.THE STEERING IS IRRATIC .IT SHAKES AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH .IT IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS.SINCE RECALL SERVICE I'VE HAD TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE RECALL SERVICE PROVIDER.THE CAR NOW HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY.SINCE OCTOBER I'VE PAID FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE FOR A CAR THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SUB SITIARY COMPANIES OF THAT COMPANY REFUSE TO HONOR THEIR RE-CALLS AND SERVICES STEMMING FROM THOSE RECALLS.*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDERED AND HESITATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS DOWN ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN OVERHEATING WITHOUT ANY UNUSUAL ACCELERATION. IF DRIVING OVER 25 MPH THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE RADIO COMES ON WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON WITHOUT WARNING.
THE FAMILY HAS TAKEN ALL THREE OF OUR FORD VEHICLES TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE SINCE WE PURCHASED THEM AND THEY HAVE NOT TAKEN RECALL ACTION. THE FOCUS NOT ONLY HAS THIS RECALL BUT THE SHUDDER RECALL, THAT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT IT WOULD COST US $1,500 BECAUSE THE RECALL REQUIRES CLUTCH REPLACEMENT. WE RECEIVED NOTICES FOR THE TCM, SHUDDER/SHAFT SEALS, AND CPV WITH NO ACTIONS TAKEN. THE FAMILY'S RECORD IS THAT OUR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE HAS BEEN CONSISTENT VISITS WITH THE DEALER'S ASSIGNED RETURN DATES AND NOTHING LESS. THE FAMILY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A RECALL FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY. THAT AMOUNT SHOULD BE DOUBLED AND SUBMITTED TO US AS A DOWN PAYMENT ON A NEW FORD VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 65MPH AND MY FORD FOCUS DISPLAYED A YELLOW WRENCH AND A STOP SAFELY NOW TRIANGLE, THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND FOUGHT WITH THE CAR TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
WHEN I MAKE A STOP AND TRY TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, I FEEL VIBRATIONS, LOST OF POWER. I DID NOT KNOW THAT FORD RECALLED THE VEHICLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I JUST CALLED BUT FORD REFUSE TO FIX. THE AGENT TO WHOM I SPOKE, SAID THAT THE MILEAGE IS ABOVE 100 000 MILES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 173 000 MILES BUT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR LONG TIME.
VEHICLE PURCHASED AUGUST 30, 2012. TWO RECALLS FOR POWER SHIFT SIX SPEED AUTO TRANS,CLUTCH SHUDDER. TAKEN IN BOTH TIMES IN ACCORDANCE WITH WARRANTY AND RECALL INSTRUCTIONS. IN BOTH INSTANCES VEHICLE WAS NEVER FIXED BASED ON SAFETY CODES AND INSTRUCTIONS. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR AND DEALERSHIP. IN BOTH INSTANCES COMPLIANCE WAS REFUSED. LAST BREAKDOWN, JAN. 2020, REGARDING RECALL WAS DENIED DUE TO CLAIMS THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY WARRANTED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR RECALL ISSUE AGAIN, AND WAS TOLD VEHICLE WAS NOT WARRANTED FOR CLUTCH AND UNSAFE TO OPERATE. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER SAFE TO DRIVE! THEREFORE, NOT ONLY DO I NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THE ORIGINAL RECALL, BUT I DO NOT HAVE ANY VEHICLE OR ACCESS TO A VEHICLE. RECALLS ARE NOT EVER TO BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER, ESPECIALLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY BROUGHT UP TO CODES AND STANDARDS IN THE FIRST PLACE....
WHEN IDLING - MY FORD FOCUS WILL OFTEN RANDOMLY ACCELERATE, AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT THEN BOTTOMS OUT COMPLETELY, NEARLY STALLING. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M BRAKING INSTEAD OF DECELERATING IT WILL ACCELERATE AND JERK THE CAR TERRIBLY STRAINING THE BRAKES MAKING IT HARDER TO STOP.
HIGH RPMS DIED IN FLIGHT STALLING JERKING
MY DAUGHTER HAS A USED 2012 FORD FOCUS THAT HAS AN OUTSTANDING RECALL FOR CPV PROBLEMS. SHE HAS HAD TWO EXPERIENCES WHERE THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND SHE'S UNABLE TO ACCELERATE NO MATTER HOW FAR SHE PRESSES THE GAS PEDAL. LAST WEEK, 1/15/2019 THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, WHILE IN MOTION, GOING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH. VERY DANGEROUS! ESPECIALLY WITH FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. SHE MANAGED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO CAMELBACK FORD AND WE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND THAT AFTER SOME RESEARCH FOUND THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL ON HER CAR FOR A MALFUNCTIONING PART/S THAT CAN CAUSE THE EXACT PROBLEMS SHE'S EXPERIENCING. THEY SAY OKAY, WE'LL GET ON IT. WELL, THEY CALLED US TODAY, 1/20/2020, A WHOLE 5 DAYS LATER, TO SAY THAT SHE NEEDS A NEW BATTERY AND OTHER THINGS LIKE A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND BEARING...
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME PART MULTIPLE TIMES. THE TCM SEEMS LIKE IT NEEDS REPLACED ALMOST EVERY TIME I GET AN OIL CHANGE. EVERY TIME MY CAR GETS FIXED ANOTHER PROBLEM APPEARS. MY CAR WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE RIGHT NOW, AND HAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 1 WHICH I KNOW THE MISFIRES HAPPEN OFTEN. BUT THERE IS ALSO A LEAK IN THE EVAP WHICH HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER MY TANK WAS FIXED FOR THE DEFORMATION OF THE TANK RECALL. MY TRANSMISSION TICKS, AND THE CLUTCH PLATE NEEDS REPLACED. I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC FORD FOCUS BUT THE CAR IS CONSTANTLY SHUDDERING. THE VEHICLE HAS THE CLUTCH SHUDDER WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE STOP AND I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S LIGHT OR NOT.
I PURCHASED A 2012 FORD FOCUS 11/2017 SINCE THEN HAVE HAD POWER TRAIN /TRANSMISSION REPLACED 2 TIMES LAREST IN SEPT. 2019. I AM AGAIN EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPES OF SYMTOMS LEADING TO SAME. VEHICLE WOULD LOSE MOTIVE POWER IN LONG TURNING OFF/ON RAMPS WHEN FUEL LEVEL GOT DOWN TO JUST ABOVE A 1/4 TANK AT FIRST THEN AS TIME PROGRESSED THE SAME ISSUE WOULD OCCUR IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DUE TO THIS. VEHICLE NEVER THREW A CODE FOR ANYTHING, IT WOULD JUST STOP RUNNING. I TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER TO PERFORM MANUFACTURER RECALL 18S32, THEY JUST REPORGRAMMED IT AND GAVE IT BACK. PROBLEM GOT BETTER AT FIRST BUT DID NOT GO AWAY. SINCE THE RECALL WORK ANOTHER RECALL HAS COME OUT AND THE LEVEL OF FUEL I NEED WENT FROM ABOVE 1/4 TO ABOVE 1/2 A TANK OF FUEL. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE READS 1/2 A TANK THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE BETWEEN 7 AND 8 GALLONS OF GAS (THE FUEL LEVELS ON THE GAUGE ARE WRONG) THIS MORNING I LOST MOTIVE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC...

THE ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON. THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. CAME TO A STOP. WAS SLOW TO START BACK UP AND WAS JERKING/STUTTERING THE REST OF THE WAY. MULTIPLE AUTO BODY SHOPS DIAGNOSED MY 2012 FORD FOCUS WAS TRANSMISSION FAILURE
WE HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED 3 TIMES AND ARE READY WITH OUR FOURTH CLUTCH (NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY! $2200!). THE DUAL-CLUTCH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND FORD HAS NOT FIXED IT. THEY CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE PART WITH ONE THAT FAILS AT 25,000 MILES.YOU KNOW IT'S A CLUTCH WHEN THE CAR IS SHUDDERING, STRUGGLES TO SWITCH BETWEEN GEARS AND DOES NOT FEEL LIKE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. FORD REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CAR THAT THEY KNOWINGLY SOLD EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS. WE FIRST TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR SHUDDERS AT 2,000 MILES AND WERE TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. THE LAST REPAIR TOOK ALMOST 1 MONTH.

WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR AND START DRIVING THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT LOSES ITS SPEED AND IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS BEING PULLED BACK EVERY TIME ITS DRIVEN FORWARD. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER DROPPING IT OF AT STAR FORD LINCOLN WE HAD TO JUMP START THE CAR BECAUSE IT NO LONGER TURNED EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WOULD TURN ON BEFORE WE DROPPED IT OFF. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE WARNING MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" FLASHED AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. I PULLED OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EVERYTHING SHUT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. I HAVE HAD ALL FACTORY RECALLS REPLACED AND MOST RECENTLY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AS WELL.THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS WERE NOT ON WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
WHILE IN COLUMBUS, OHIO, CAUGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, UPHILL, A RED "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION!" LIGHT WENT ON, AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED SHUDDERING AND LURCHING FORWARD. I WAS ONLY GOING 5 - 10 MPH IN TRAFFIC, BUT THE CAR WAS ALSO SHAKING AND WHEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP THE RPMS WOULD GO UP AND DOWN
CAR SHUTTERS AND STALLS. NOT MUCH POWER. HAD TCM REPAIRED AND THE DUAL CLUTCH MULTIPLE TIMES.

TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT AND THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE DIAGNOSES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,834.
THE CAR JERKS A LOT WHILE DRIVING. IT IS LIKE A STUTTER OR SOMETHING. I HAD NAPLETON FORD CHECK IT OUT AND THEY INDICATED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDS REPLACING. THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH AND THAT IT HAD TO REPLACED BY 100,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AT 154,000 MILES SO I DIDN'T HAVE IT AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL. MY WARRANTY WON'T COVER THE REPAIR.
MASSIVE STUTTERING ISSUE. WHEN PRESSING GAS, SEEMS TO STUTTER AND FAIL TO GET UP TO SPEED. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND DOESN'T SEEM TO CHANGE IF ENGINE IS COLD OR WARM.
VEHICLE IS READING CODE P0420 INDICATING HAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS OPERATING UNDER THRESHOLD. LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF PERIODICALLY UNTIL IT FINALLY REMAINED TURNED ON AND SOON AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTED STRUGGLING TO DRIVE UP HILLS AND THE GAS MILAGE HAS DECREASED.
RECALL 18S32. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP ON 9-8-19 WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. I WAS TOLD THAT SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. AT THAT POINT, WE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CHECK TO SEE IF THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND IT DID NOT. ON 10-9-19 WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS GAUGE WENT UP TO FULL (IT WAS ONLY 1/2 FULL) CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON (IT HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN ON FOR WEEKS) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY AND MOST FRIGHTENING IS THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. ALL OF THESE THINGS THAT OCCURED ARE DIRECTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. ALTHOUGH MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHTWAY , THANKFULLY SHE WAS NOT HIT OR KILLED BY OTHER DRIVERS AND DID NOT CRASH...
AS MANY OTHERS, NO, RATHER THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE FAULTY DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION OFFERED BY FORD FAILED AND ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD OF SERIOUSLY INJURED ME AND MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE ALSO HESITATED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD AND BACKWARDS, AND THEN STALL. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,347.
AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE BEGAN ACTING AS IF IT DID NOT WANT TO GET UP TO SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 35MPH WITHOUT DRAMATICALLY JOLTING FORWARD. IT DID THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE SWERVING A BIT AND FINALLY STALLING COMPLETELY, PRESSING THE GAS WOULD DO NOTHING TO GET THE CAR TO SPEED UP. I DID MANAGE TO GET IT TO A SIDE ROAD BEFORE HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALER.
WE PURCHASED A 2012 FOCUS FOR OUR 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AS HER FIRST CAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND THE CAR SHUDDERS AS YOU ACCELERATE LIKE ITS SHIFTING GEARS BUT IT'S A VERY AGGRESSIVE JERK. ONCE IT REACHES CERTAIN SPEED IT DRIVES SMOOTHLY BUT IF YOU STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND ACCELERATE AGAIN IT DOES THE SAME THING. THE FAULT CODE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STATES IT'S A CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEM. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND A RECALL FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE (RECALL 18S32). TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED AND THEY RESET THE PCM BUT TECH TOLD ME THE GAS TANK "PASSED INSPECTION" SO NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE NEEDED. HOWEVER, THE CAR STILL SHUDDERS AT ACCELERATION. I WAS TOLD I'D HAVE TO PAY $135 FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE...
MY CAR TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. UPON APPROACHING A STOP AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE MOTOR DROPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE MOTOR FELL ON TOP OF THE AXLE AND KNOCKED THE AXLE LOOSE. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ASSESSED THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE MOTOR SUPPORT FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE MOTOR TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH MATT BOWERS FORD (3724 VETERANS MEMORIAL BLVD, METAIRIE, LA 70002, 504-887-8410) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CIOCCA FORD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH, GASKET CYLINDER, TIE ROD, IN AND OUT LUG NUTS SPLASH GUARDS, GASKET VALVE COVER, LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BUSHING, OIL PAN GASKET, POLLEN FILTERS, AIR FILTER ELEMENT, ALL FOUR TIRES, WIPERS, AND THE BATTERY CABLE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 19S22 RECALL. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM PORT HURON TO CLINTON TOWNSHIP. MY CAR WENT FROM 70 MPH HOUR ON THE FREEWAY TO 35 MPH. ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. I CANNOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 35 MPH. THE VERY NEXT MORNING I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AT 9 MILE IN HARPER BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED MONTHS BEFORE IN MAY. THERE WAS MULTIPLE RECALLS ON THE CLUTCH FOR MY CAR. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN CHANGED 3+ TIMES AND IT IS STILL BROKEN. AND FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WILL SLIP GEAR WHEN DRIVING THEREFORE CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE MOTION AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. THE CAR ALSO WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED DUE TO SLIPPING OF GEAR. THIS UNFIXED ISSUE HAS CAUSED ME END UP WITH NO CAR AND A NEWBORN BABY.

CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL (CPV) AND PRIOR POWERTRAIN AND PCM RECALL ISSUES. HISTORY INVOLVING POWERTRAIN, PCM AND CPV. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) CAME ON A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE CAR COULD NOT RESTART. COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. RECENTLY, IN THE SUMMER 2019, CEL ON AND GAVE A CODE ABOUT FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHEN I SPENT $106 AT GREEN FORD TO READ AND DIAGNOSIS THE CODE. THE LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF AND ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2019, THE CAR STALLED AND/OR WOULD NOT START BACK UP MANY TIMES WHEN THE CEL WAS ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK THE NEXT MORNING, TWICE, ON THE WAY TO GREEN FORD, AND WAITING ON RECALL TO BE PERFORMED. THE CAR HAS 151,000 MILES AND IS A ONE OWNER VEHICLE. THE POWERTRAIN, PCM AND THIS CURRENT ISSUE HAS BEEN THE ONLY ISSUES THAT SEEMS TO BE CONNECTED.

ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE PCM SOFTWARE MAY NOT ADEQUATELY DETECT A STUCK-OPEN CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM. IF THE CPV MALFUNCTIONS AND STICKS OPEN, IT CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE VACUUM IN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM, POTENTIALLY DEFORMING THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK. THIS CAN CAUSE THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS: ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) WITH CERTAIN DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) INACCURATE OR ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE INDICATION INACCURATE DISTANCE TO EMPTY (DTE) ENGINE STALL AND/OR OTHER DRIVABILITY CONCERNS RELATED TO STUCK OPEN CPV SAFETY RISK THIS MAY RESULT IN AN ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING OR WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RESTART, AND CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. UNFULFILLED PROMISE THE MANUFACTURER SAID THE PIECE WOULD BE READY IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2019; HOWEVER, THE RECALL STILL SAYS 'NO REMEDY''ALMOST 6 MONTHS LATER.
