WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, JUST LEAVING TOWN I HIT 50 MPH AND THE TRUCK STARTS TO WOBBLE FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND VIBRATE TILL I SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 40 MPH. I GOT THE NOTICE FROM FORD TELLING ME IT ALL HAD TO DO WITH TIRE PRESSURE. I INFLATED THE TIRES TO THE REQUIRED PRESSURE AND IT ONLY MADE THINGS WORSE. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY REPLACING PARTS IN THE FRONT END OF THIS TRUCK. TIRES ARE NOW JUNK ON THE FRONT END. THE ONLY THING I COULD DO IS UNDER INFLATE THE FRONT TIRES TO GAIN BETTER CONTROL AND DRIVE SLOWER. STILL WOBBLES JUST NOT AS BAD. THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM I HAVE EVERYDAY.
I WAS HEADING DOWN MY STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND JUST BEFORE THE STREET BENDS TO THE LEFT MY TRUCK STALLED AND I LOST MY POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. DOING THE BEST I COULD I TURNED THE WHEEL JUST ENOUGH TO AVOID THE CAR PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET THEN I PROCEEDED TO RUN THROUGH MY NEIGHBOR'S WROUGHT IRON GATE AND PLASTER COMING TO REST ON THE HILL IN HIS FRONT YARD. AFTER ASSESSING THE DAMAGE, I TRIED TO START MY TRUCK TO SEE IF I COULD MOVE IT. IT STARTED AND I MOVED IT TO MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE AT THE BODY SHOP I THEN TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE DISCOVERED A FAULTY WIRE IN THE WIRE HARNESS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT ANY NOTICE OR SIGNS OF TROUBLE. LATER I LEARNED FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT THERE WAS A...
WHEN EVER THE TRUCK GOES OVER SOMETHING LIKE AN BULGED EXPANSION JOINT OR A POT HOLE WITH SPEED IN EXCESS OF 40-45, IT WILL REACT VIOLENTLY. OFTEN THE VEHICLE WILL MOVE OVER A FOOT OR TWO(DEPENDING ON THE SPEED OF THE TRUCK) IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE BOUNCING/SHAKING OF THE FRONT WHEELS IS OVER IN SEVERAL SECONDS, BUT IS SEVERE NONE THE LESS. IF YOU HIT A BUMP ON A CURVE, THE VEHICLE WILL ALMOST GO OFF THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ENOUGH TIMES OVER THE YEARS THAT I ATTEMPTED EVASIVE ACTION/SLOW WAY DOWN WHEN I SEE I'M ABOUT TO STRIKE SOMETHING THAT WILL SET THE SUSPENSION INTO BOUNCE MODE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAIN ST, GOING ABOUT 35 MPH...WHEN I HIT A BUMP THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO SHAKING VIOLENTLY , I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AS THE DRAG LINK BALL JOINT AND AN UPPER BALL JOINT BOTH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT...I GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM FORD JUST YESTERDAY ABOUT THE SHIMMY/SHAKING ISSUE, THE LETTER STATES THAT IT IS DUE TO TIRE PRESSURE IN WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE VERY WRONG!! *TR
I NOTICED THAT WHEN I HIT A BUMP THE BED OF MY TRUCK BOUNCES ABOUT TWO INCHES, WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK I NOTICED ALL THE SUPPORTS UNDER THE BED WERE COMPLETELY ROTTED. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES. IN LESS THAN 90,000 MILES I'VE REPLACED THREE BRAKE CALIPERS, TWO ROTORS, TWO SETS OF BRAKES, AND THE LAST TIME I HAD IT SERVICED THE BACKING PLATES WERE SO ROTTED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULDN'T WORK AND COULDN'T BE REPLACED WITHOUT ALSO REPLACING THE BACKING PLATES. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 50 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS MUCH ROT. I FEEL THAT THE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE SHOULDN'T HAPPEN THIS SOON, AND FEEL THAT I SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST TO REPAIR IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, HIT A SMALL POTHOLE IN THE ROAD AND THE SUSPENSION STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE THE TRUCK ALONG WITH SEVERE STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATIONS. NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I COULD GET SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH TO STOP THE OSCILLATIONS. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON MY TRUCK MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 60 MPH AND CONTRARY TO OTHER REPORTS LISTED ON HERE, THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT AND MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE PUT ON AFTERMARKET SUSPENSION AND TIRES SINCE THE ORIGINAL TIME THIS HAPPENED AND ADDED A STEERING STABILIZER WHICH HELPED TO KEEP THIS FROM OCCURRING BUT IT STILL HAPPENS ON OCCASION. 2005 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY, STARTED AT @ 25,000 MILES IN 2008 AND STILL HAPPENS TODAY. HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 60 MPH, WHEN YOU HIT ANY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT SUSPENSION STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. IT IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL THE TRUCK. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ON THE FREEWAY. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE TIRES WERE BALANCED AND THE LUG NUTS WERE TORQUED TO FORD SPECS. TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A SIMILAR PROBLEM. AFTER A FEW HOURS RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND FREQUENT WITH THE FORD SUPER DUTY LINE FROM 05"-08". WHILE DRIVING ON PA INTERSTATE 81, MY 2005 F250 EXPERIENCED SEVERE DRIVING LOSS OF CONTROL WHEN THE FRONT SUSPENSION TRAVELED OVER AN AREA OF THE ROAD THAT WAS UNEVEN. THIS CAUSED THE TRUCKS INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME TO THE EXTENT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING INTO THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH ON A 3 LANE INTERSTATE, IN THE LEFT LANE. I WENT OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER. I BOUGHT A 2005 F250 CREW CAB AND SINCE ABOUT 25K MILES MY TRUCK WILL WOBBLE WHEN I HIT A BUMP AT 45-60 MILES PER HOUR. THE SHACK/WOBBLE IS SO INTENSE THAT YOU FEEL THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK IS GOING TO LOOSE THE TIRES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO PLACE A DAMPER IN THE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE NO LONGER EXIST. SHORTLY AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A WARNING LETTER STATING THAT MAINTAINING THE PROPER TIRE INFLATION LEVEL WOULD AVOID THE FAILURE FROM RECURRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VERY SEVERE UNCONTROLLABLE FRONT END SHIMMY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND NO TROUBLE WAS FOUND. SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISED TIRE BALANCING AND ALIGNMENT. I PAID FOR THAT SERVICE OUT OF POCKET AND PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. I THEM REPLACE THE TIRES OUT OF POCKET. PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. I THEN REPLACED THE SHOCKS AND STEERING STABILIZER OUT OF POCKET. PROBLEM IS 90 PERCENT BETTER BUT YOU MUST BE CAREFUL OF THE VEHICLE LIMITATIONS. IN MY OPINION THEIR IS A VEHICLE DESIGN FLAW. EXACT DATES CAN BE SUPPLIED IF NECESSARY. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH I LOST CONTROL OF MY TRUCK DUE TO VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE FRONT END. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND LET SPEED DECREASE TO 20 MPH TO REGAIN CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN A 2 MILE PERIOD. I THEN DROVE ON SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AT 20 MPH TO GET HOME. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW IN 2005 BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN THIS BAD. I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I WAS DRIVING ON I-64 DOING ABOUT 65-70MPH AND CROSSED OVER BRIDGE/ROUGH SPOT IN ROAD WHEN IT THREW THE TRUCK INTO A BAD SHIMMY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW CAMBER KIT THAT WOULD CHANGE BY 1 DEGREE. I HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *TR
WE HAVE CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH THE SHIMMY AND UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKE IN THE FRONT END OF OUR 2005 F250 SUPER DUTY (GAS). AT SPEEDS OF 55 AND HIGHER, THE TRUCK WILL SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY OFF THE ROAD AT THE SLIGHTEST UNEVEN OR BUMP IN THE ROAD. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALERSHIPS NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE DONE IS TO REPLACE THE DAMPER ASSEMBLY ON JUNE 6TH. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND SEEMS TO BE MORE ERRATIC AND FREQUENT. *TR

WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ABOVE 50MPH THE FORD 2005 F250 SUPER DUTY BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT OF LOOSING CONTROL. I HAVE A 2005 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY FX4 PICKUP THAT I PURCHASED TODAY. ON THE WAY HOME, AT ABOUT 65-70MPH, I HIT A BRIDGE JOINT WHICH SENT THE FRONT END INTO AN EXTREMELY VIOLENT WOBBLE. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 20MPH FOR IT TO GO AWAY. WHEN I GOT HOME, I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND IT TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT I FEEL THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BECAUSE OF HOW DANGEROUS THE ISSUE IS. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO REDESIGN A FACTORY ENGINEERING PROBLEM. THE WOBBLE WAS SO BAD THAT THE TRUCK MOVED INTO THE NEXT LANE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD BOUNCE AND SHIMMY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE DONE ALL THAT THEY COULD DO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE VIN NUMBER APPEARED TO BE INCORRECT.
WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, AFTER DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE JOINT OR POT HOLE, THE BOUNCE OFTEN CAUSES THE FRONT END TO GO INTO A VIOLENT HARMONIC STEERING OSCILLATION THAT ONLY STOPS WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN. YOU HAVE SEVERAL SECONDS TO SLOW DOWN BELOW 35 MPH BEFORE THE OSCILLATION CAUSES LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING OSCILLATION IS VIOLENT ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO HAVE TO HAVE A STEERING ALIGNMENT AFTER EACH EPISODE. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) THE RECOMMENDS: FRONT END ALIGNMENT, REPLACE STEERING STABILIZER, CHECK TIRE PRESSURE, CHECK FRONT END FOR LOOSE COMPONENTS. I HAVE HAD THIS SERVICE AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED. *JB
2005 FORD F250 CREW CAB SUPER DUTY V10 TRITON. WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED ABOVE 30 MPH AND HITTING SOME BUMPS ON THE ROAD THE TRUCK WILL GO INTO A VIOLENT OSCILLATION WHERE ALL THE WHEELS HOP UP AND DOWN CAUSING ME TO NEARLY LOOSE CONTROL. AS OPERATOR FINISHED PASSING AND RETURNED TO LANE OF TRAVEL, HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY TO REGAIN CONTROL, NEARLY CAUSING SKID ON RAIN-SLICK ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSING FOLLOWING VEHICLES TO TAKE EXTREME MEASURE TO AVOID COLLISION. *JB

FLEET OF 7 TRUCKS ALL EXPERIENCE SAME, SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS. DEALER HAS DONE ALL POSSIBLE TO REMEDY, INCLUDING AFTERMARKET HEAVIER DUTY FRONT STEERING STABILIZER (AT OUR EXPENSE). INCIDENT DATE IS LAST DATE IT OCCURRED TO MY CRUISER TRUCK. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME A BUMP IN THE HIGHWAY IS ENCOUNTERED WITH EVERY TRUCK OUR DEPARTMENT BOUGHT FOR USE AS LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES. THE MAGNITUDE OF THE WOBBLE IS DEPENDANT ON THE SPECIFIC TRUCK AND THE SPEED TRAVELED. REALIZE THAT AS LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPONSE VEHICLES, OFTEN THIS INVOLVES VERY HIGH SPEED. THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THE WORSE THE PROBLEM.
