THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FOLLOWING DAY THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WAS SHATTERED BUT STILL IN TACT IN THE WINDOW FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFELITE WINDOW REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. *TT

ON A 20 DEGREE MORNING I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST AND IN ABOUT FIVE MINUTES TIME I HEAR A LOUD NOISE. UPON LOOKING AROUND I FOUND THE BACK WINDOW HAD SHATTERED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME, THANKFULLY, BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS A LOT LIKE A GUN BLAST AND IF DRIVING I COULD HAVE SWERVED, IT STARTLED ME SO MUCH. THE WINDOW IS SHATTERED INTO THOUSANDS OF PIECES AND VISIBILITY OUT OF THAT WINDOW IS SEVERELY HAMPERED. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND IT EFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR

THE REAR WINDOW DRIVER SIDE SPIDER WEBBED. IT WAS 55 DEGREES OUT AND I OPENED MY WINDOWS. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. THE OTHER TIME WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW IN 11/2013. I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS.IT HAS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEFROSTER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING INTO WORK AT 0445 HRS ON A SMOOTH ROAD WITH AN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP AROUND 5 DEGREE I HEARD A LOUD BANG COMING FROM THE CAB AREA OF THE TRUCK. I HAD LET THE TRUCK WARM UP BEFORE DRIVING AND TURNED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST ON APPROX. 2 MILES BEFORE I HEARD THE NOISE. IN CHECKING MY VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW HAD BUSTED. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT FEEL IT WAS BAD ENOUGH TO HAVE A RECALL. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO COST APPROX. $800 IF IT IS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. *TR
I STARTED MY TRUCK JAN. 27TH,2014 ON A VERY COLD MORNING AND TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST ON MY 2010 FORD F150 SUPER CREW-CAB TRUCK. I LET THE TRUCK WARM UP AND WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION I NOTICED THE REAR, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WITH SAME THE PROBLEM WHICH SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I GOT AN ESTIMATE TO GET IT FIXED. THEY WANTED OVER $800 . I HAVE A $500 DEDUCTIBLE ON MY INSURANCE. I DON'T NEED THIS EXPENSE. I WILL BE CALLING FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER TO COMPLAIN. *TR
I STARTED MY TRUCK UP AND ACTIVATED THE REAR DEFROSTER . IT WAS EXTREMELY COLD ABOUT 11 DEGREES IN NJ APPROX. 5 MINUTES LATER I DETECTED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CRACKLING NOISES WHICH RESULTED IN THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW POPPING AND SHATTERING. I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED FORD AND ADVISED THEM. I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY CANT HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ISSUE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THE GLASS FOR THAT YEAR DUE TO THERE BEING THOUSANDS OF ISSUES RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUES ON THESE VEHICLE. AS A LONG TIME FORD CUSTOMER I FEEL THIS IS ENOUGH OF AN ISSUE WHICH WILL CAUSE MY TO SWITCH MY CHOICE IN FUTURE TRUCKS. *TR
STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING. TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER. BEGAN TO SHOVEL THE DRIVEWAY AND HEARD A LOUD POP FROM THE TRUCK. DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING UNTIL I GOT IN TO BACK UP AND SAW THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW GAD SHATTERED. FORD DEALER WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE "WINDOW" PROBLEM, AS THEY DESCRIBED IT. SAID THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PAST 50,000 MILES THAT IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I RARELY USE THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE DEALER SAID I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL GLASS SPECIALIST TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT IT MAY BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT A KNOWN REPETITIVE PROBLEM SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY FORD. IF IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, I MAY BE REPLACING MY WINDOW MORE THAN ONCE. *TR

AT THAT POINT I NOTICED MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD EXPLODED. LATER EXAMINATION I DISCOVERED MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CALLED FORD BOTH DEALER AND CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO RECORD OR RECALL OF THE PROBLEM. THIS DOES POSE A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE SOUND OF THE WINDOW EXPLODING IS VERY LOUD AND DISTRACTING AND TYPICALLY AS I'VE READ HAPPENS IN MOTION....
I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ON (60 OR 70 DEGREES OUTSIDE) AND HEARD A VERY LOUD POP. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE BACK WINDOW IT HAD EXPLODED (SHATTERED COMPLETELY WITH NO SPIDER WEB CRACKS) AND NO ONE DRIVING NEARBY, CUTTING GRASS, WALKING, ETC - THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND, NOTHING NEXT TO THE TRUCK OR IN THE BED THAT COULD HAVE HIT THE WINDOW. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE IN MULTIPLE FORUMS AND FOUND THAT A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS DESCRIBED THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO 2010 F-150S WITH REAR DEFROSTER ON. THE WINDOW REPLACEMENT COMPANY IN TOWN ALSO STATED THEY HAD REPLACED 3 OR 4 WINDOWS THAT HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. I'M LUCKY NO ONE WAS SITTING NEXT TO THE WINDOW BECAUSE SMALL SHARDS OF GLASS FELL INTO THE SEAT AND INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK. *JS

IT WAS ONLY BEING HELD TOGETHER BY THE FACTORY TINT BUT THERE WERE GLASS SHARDS THROUGHOUT THE BACK SEAT WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. THE WINDOW IS A POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW WITH DEFROST. I ALSO HAD THE REAR DEFROST ON DURING THE TIME WHICH MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE WINDOW SHATTERING. *TR

YOU CAN SEE WHERE THERE WAS SOME KIND OF ENERGY BUILT UP AT THE BASE OF THE WINDOW AND IT EXPLODED OUT, BENDING THE WINDOW THIN ALUMINUM OUTER COVERING AND IT HAS A CHARRED LOOK TO IT. IT APPEARS THAT THERE WAS A SMALL ELECTRICAL FIRE OR SHORTAGE IN THE CORNER OF THE GLASS WHERE THE DEFROSTING MECHANISM ATTACHES TO THE WINDOW GLASS. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A COLD MORNING AND HAD MY REAR DEFROSTER ON. ABOUT 5 MILES FROM HOME I HEARD A LOUD, GUN SHOT TYPE SOUND AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOWN TIRE BUT WHEN I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR I REALIZED THAT THE BACK PANEL IN MY REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. IT WAS TOTALLY SPIDER-WEBED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THE DEFROSTER WAS FUNCTIONING FINE SO THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. *TR UPDATED 11/30/12 *CN
WENT OUT AND STARTED MY VEHICLE TO LET IT WARM UP WHILE I WALKED MY DOG FIRST THING IN THE MORNING BEFORE HEADING TO WORK. AFTER RUNNING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES I WAS READY TO HEAD TO WORK. I OPENED MY DRIVERS DOOR AND ALL THE SUDDEN HEARD A LOUD "POW" VERY LOUD. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW THE BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED THROWING TINY SHARDS OF GLASS ALL OVER. IT COULD HAVE EXPLODED IN A CHILD'S EYES OR MY DOGS. THE WINDOW IS THE REAR ELECTRIC HEATED SLIDING GLASS. THE PASSENGER SIDE IS THE ONE THAT BLEW. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE LADY TOLD ME SHE HAS SEEN SEVERAL OF THEM DO THAT. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING, BECAUSE OF THE LOUD NOISE AND BECAUSE OF THE FLYING GLASS. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CHILDREN IN THE BACK...
