2022 FORD BRONCO Visibilitywiper Problems

The windshield washer fluid reservoir cracked along its seam and drains completely after a few hours. This was not due to an accident and I have not done off-roading. I live in a snowy environment and not having an operating windshield washer is a MAJOR safety hazard as road salt quickly builds up on the windshield dramatically reducing forward visibility. It also affects the rear window washer, but that’s not as troubling an issue. The defective reservoir is available for inspection. My local mechanic confirmed that the reservoir is cracked. My photo shows the fluid leaking onto the ground. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance, but has been inspected by a mechanic at my local Chevron station. A “washer fluid low” warning and idiot light appears after the reservoir drains, goes off when fluid is added, and goes on again when the fluid drains...

The rear hardtop panel on my 2022 Ford Bronco has developed serious cracking and surface separation after only three years of light, garage-kept use. The fiberglass is fracturing near the seams, exposing the underlying material. Water is now visibly collecting in the openings, which will lead to internal moisture intrusion, mold, and eventually corrosion of structural components underneath the hardtop mounting area. This poses a serious long-term safety concern, especially in the event of rear impacts or rollover situations. A Ford dealer inspected the issue and submitted a warranty claim, which was denied. The Ford representative acknowledged the damage but said they could not act without a recall or broader investigation. No warning lights or messages appeared; the issue is external and has progressed gradually. The damage began well before my bumper-to-bumper coverage expired, but has recently worsened. There is a bulletin that ford sent out that includes wipers intermittently not working properly when detecting rain. The issue happens when the normal steady wiper speed is selected and the issue isn’t resolved until the wipers are turned off and on again then the issue persists. Ford will not cover this issue even with a bulletin for a car 2,000 miles over their warranty. Further more fords extended warranty they offer at their dealerships will not cover this issue as well even though it extends the manufacturer warranty. This is a safety issue while driving in the rain

Drivers side front door window vibrates and shakes significantly when in the open half-way position or less. When driving over bumps, rough roads, offroad it is very present. Window has to remain closed or fully open position. Hall Ford Dealer in Elizabeth City NC has been aware and confirmed it's an issue but they don't have a fix for it.

I was sitting in my car and the back wind shield exploded over my dog and I. Ford was made aware of the issue, and apparently the Bronco's rods hyper extend and cause the tempered glass to break. Ford wont cover any damages done, and says it isn't covered by warranty. Although the dealership and Ford acknowledge no pressure was existenet to cause the window to burst randomly. In addition, Ford is aware the plastic placer screws in the removable hardtop is defective and cracks over time. However, they are not warrantying this repair.

While driving on interstates 99 and Interstate 80 eastbound on 212/2024 I encountered a snowstorm with my 2022 Ford Bronco wildtrak and as I was driving I was unable to see after a few minutes in the snowstorm because my headlights were covered with snow I couldn't easily pull off on the side of the road on the highway due to all of the truck and vehicle traffic so I had to attempt to drive unsafe behind a tractor trailer until I can get to an exit to wipe the headlights off this is the second time this has happened to me as the Ford dealer said basically the LED headlights do not generate heat so you should expect to have this with every snowstorm as long as you own the vehicle I found it to be very unsafe as I had my wife and daughter in the car with...

I drive a 2022 Ford Bronco and I now have had to replace my windshield for a third time in 5 months from just a tiny rock hitting it. This most recent time on January 22, 2024 was a tiny rock that hit on my windshield on the lower left side of the drivers view. It made contact on the brow or bottom part of the windshield and the following morning it had grown vertically 3 inches. I went to drive to the grocery store and it was raining. The crack then grew as I was driving horizontally across the entire windshield almost reach the other edge on the passenger side of it. While driving in temperatures 20 degrees F or below the wind shield wipers function and wipe but the fluid does not squirt out. It has created issues of extreme reduced visibility because of the smearing with no fluid. The vehicle is undrivable on a cold sunny day or dark night. In warmer temperatures the wipers wipe and squirt fluid adequately. Issue can easily be reproduced with low temperature weather. The issue has not been inspected by dealer or other 3rd party. Driving 25 mph on a residential concrete road lost vision through windshield . A sudden storm caused leaves to block sewer grates from draining water . When going through 6-8” at curb side . I started turning wipers to high and I didn’t see improvement quickly. I slowed down to 20 mph for the following one and same thing again total loss of visibility . Thinking about it I’ve driven through the same amount of rain sitting on this same road with many different automobiles… And never experienced this kind of loss of visibility, especially at this slow of speed . While wipers are in full-time mode, they will occasionally switch to intermittent mode even though rain continues to accumulate on the windshield. This forces me to take my left hand off the steering wheel to 'reset' the wiper system while driving with limited windshield visibility. Taking my hand off the wheel during a downpour is unsafe and should be the last thing I need to be concerned about. My vehicle is available for inspection. Dealership replicated the fault on similar Broncos and said it was 'normal operations'. They claim that the wipers go into intermittent mode so the wipers motor doesn't overheat. However, there is plenty of rain on the windshield when I've experienced the transition to intermittent mode. No warning lamps, messages lit up during this failure. The wiper system when turned to the standard or fast wiping position during any rainfall condition will slowing reduce its speed in less than a minute to the slowest speed for both positions and stay at that speed regardless of rainfall conditions. Even in normal rainfall conditions this has caused serious responses because of the delay with wiper returning to clear water from window. When driving in heavy rain and you put the wipers on High (or even Low), they automatically switch to Intermittent after about 1 minute. They actually stop wiping at a high speed and pause between wipes for several seconds. In order to keep the wipers going in heavy, blinding rain you have to keep switching the wipers from Low to High to keep them moving. This is a safety hazard since you honestly cannot see though the windshield during heavy rain. Our Bronco is currently at the dealership being serviced. We were blinded in the rain storm traveling on the interstate. This is a very serious issue that needs to be resolved before someone is killed!!

During wiper operation in the low speed setting, after approximately 40-50 seconds of operation the wipers sometimes reduce in speed to a slow intermittent setting and stay that way until the wiper is turned to a new setting. This happens even in heavy rain, which can result in a significant safety hazard.

Windshield easily chips and cracks. Vehicle has only 4500 miles and two chips without cracking and one chip with cracking. None happened at highway speeds and seemed to be small objects.

When wipers are turned on full in heavy rain they slow down and come to a stop. I have to constantly adjust wiper speed to keep them active.

I do not have auto wipers or rain sensing wipers. I’ve now driven through two major rain storms and sleet all three instances required the windshield wipers to be placed into constant on speed of medium and high. The issue results after the wipers are running in these constant on positions for a short while. The issue: The wiper blade speed while in demand of constant on medium and high speed will randomly reduce speed to intermittent making a massive safety hazard when at higher speeds and visibility is poor do to high rain, sleet, and snow volume. have a wiper control issue where at fast speeds the wipers start to slow down and go intermittent. It almost impossible to see at times. You have to play around with it to keep them going. So if it is raining small or hard all of a sudden they stop working and go intermittently and some times stop completely. This happens a lot when raining and I have told the dealer about it a few times and showed them as well from video.

When driving in the rain with the wipers set on the low or high constant setting, the wipers will intermittently slow down or stop all together. When this issue occurs I have to cycle the wipers off then back on and the issue often repeats itself and leads to periods of zero visibility during cycling off on to correct issue. On numerous occaisions while driving in the rain, my wiper speed suddenly starts to drastically slow down/wipe intermittently, even though my vehicle speed or the amount of rainfall has not changed. This drastically reduced my visibility. If I change the wiper setting, the wipers function normally for a short time but will start to suddenly slow down again. This happens on any of the various higher wiper speed settings. I am entering a date of today, because it happened today, but it has happened before.

Ford has installed a "Smart Windshield" function on 2021-23 Broncos. It is intended to protect the wipers from overheating. The issue is that it does not work. Every time I use my wipers in low or high mode after about :30 seconds they reduce speed. When driving on the highway in the rain this is extremely dangerous and the driver has to keep switching modes over and over to get the wipers to work. I have had the vehicle into the dealer twice and they agree that this is an issue but can not do anything as it is a "normal" function.

When wipers are set to continuous operation, they slow down and start going intermittently. This is making it hazardous driving in rain and snow.

When wipers are turned on they work for a minute and then change to intermittently working regardless of how much rain. If you flip it to max wiper speed to keep the window clean it does the same thing. There is no setting you can put it on and the wipers continually work. Makes it very hard to see or you are always flipping the switch just to keep them working.

Windshield wipers stop working while driving in both heavy rain and light rain. When turned on low, or high, not intermittent, the wipers slow down, and sometimes stop altogether. I was driving in heavy rain on the highway and the were on high. Repeatedly they kept slowing down, and then stopping. I had to turn them off, and back on each time, to get them to work on high again. This happened 6- 7 times. Not only was it very scary to lose visibilty completely, but also distracting to have to adjust them over and over. I was terrified I would get in an accident. I finally pulled off the highway. The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving at an undisclosed speed in inclement weather, the front driver’s and passenger side windshield wipers inadvertently changed speeds. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the windshield wipers were operating as designed. The contact was concerned that the issue could cause and crash and injury. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,673.

I turn my wipers onto the constant wipe setting, either high or low, and after about 20-30 or so wipes, they will decrease their speed across the windshield over about 5 or 10 wipes until they pause for about 3 or 4 seconds after each wipe and then continue a slow wipe. I will turn them off and on immediately after this happens. When I turn them back on to high, they will operate on high and again repeat the slowing down speed and frequency after about 20-30 wipes until they are very slow and pause for about 4 seconds which is slower than even the slowest intermittent wipe settings. The wipers will slow down or stop even during heavy rain and on a constant setting (not an intermittent setting). I have to turn the wiper speed switch off and on to get them to wipe continuously again, which is very dangerous during heavy rains. This has been reported already as an issue by many bronco owners and needs to be investigated. While the smart wiper feature may be a good idea, slowing down in the middle of a rainstorm due to a programming issue or design flaw is extremely dangerous.

Wipers will slow down because of resistance setting during hard rain sleep or snow. When put on the fastest setting they will slow down after 30 seconds and you are constantly needing to adjust the wipers during low visibility conditions. This is a huge distraction while I drive.

The windshield wipers have some sort of system that will automatically slow or increase their speed from what I can tell but the system is not working as intended or if working right is downright unsafe. This morning I had heavy rain in my area and moved the setting to the highest and fastest it could go, after about 20-30 seconds it would automatically slow itself down to where it would only wipe every 3 seconds or so which during the heavy rain was not enough and I could not see. To "reset" the automatic system I would have to cycle the intensity modes on the wipers up and down every 30 seconds or so to keep my blades moving fast enough to repel the water off the windows. Windshield wipers slow down and then stop while in either high or low switch position regardless of amount of moisture on windshield. The only way to get the wipers to continue is to turn the wipers off and then on again.

While driving in a hard rain/snow mix in central Wisconsin on February 14th 2023, I had to set my wipers to high in order to maintain safe visual clarity of my surroundings. For unknown reasons, my wipers would progressively slow to a standstill. The only way to maintain wiper function was to keep one hand on the wiper control and manually turn it from one function to the next to wake the system up and make it work again. After about a minute of working, it would slow and stall again. This felt very dangerous and clearly WILL cause many accidents if left unaddressed.

As a concerned consumer, I was informed by the dealership that the new Bronco comes with "smart wipers" that automatically switch to a slow intermittent feature after running on constant Medium or High speed for around 45 seconds to a minute. However, during a heavy rain on the morning of 2/14/23, my wipers stopped on me, putting me in a dangerous situation where I almost ran off the road due to poor visibility. This is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed urgently. After researching, I discovered that this problem is widespread among Bronco owners and there are no warning lights to alert drivers of the issue. The dealership also failed to inform me of this problem when I purchased the vehicle just 5 days ago. As a loyal Ford customer, I am disappointed that this is the only Ford vehicle I have owned that has this issue....

During heavy rain or snow fall I turn my wipers to full power mode, but the Ford Bronco will automatically sometimes slow down and stop completely the wipers during the middle of the storm. The first time this happened I almost crashed because I suddenly could not see out of my windshield because the wipers were too slow (or completely stopped). This is so dangerous and I was only driving 30mph. This now happens consistently, and I have to turn the wipers on/off to clear rain/snow off my windshield to allow me to drive. It is distracting to turn wipers on/off consistently while driving during heavy storms. This urgently needs an immediate recall/fix.

When set to high speed the wipers after a brief period will "slow down to protect the wiper motor" or something, creating a situation where in even mild rain the car forces the wipers to slow down making it unsafe. Clearly... Ford has severely under spec'd the wiper motor/gearbox hardware and "fixed" it with software making the vehicle unsafe where it will just randomly decide that high speed wiper's are not available anymore.

When driving with the windshield wipers on low speed, after about 30 seconds the wipers will stop and then go into "intermit" mode. To correct you have to turn the wipers from hi to lo, and then the exact same problem occurs. I did take the vehicle to the dealer who inspected and told me this is normal due to the "smart wiper system" that they are equipped with. The when wipers are on constant Medium or High speed, after about 45 sec to 1 minute, the wipers resort to a slow intermittent feature. This happened to me during a very heavy rain on the morning of 2/8/23. This was a huge safety issue! When my wipers stopped on me this morning, I almost ran off the road due to the inability to see- super heavy rain. At the top 2 wiper speeds, the windshield wipers will slow down to speeds where I am unable to see. It’s extremely dangerous, especially at faster driving speeds.

I have driven multiple times in the rain and when using the wipers, they slow down almost to a crawl impairing visibility. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, they slow down to the point that I am unable to see. I have to manually restart the wiping process each time, but the problem persists. It happens on all settings. It gets to the point that I don't feel safe driving it sometimes.

The wipers contol has 6 settings, off, intermittent (1,2,3), low speed continuous, high speed continuous. When in the low continuous the wipers will automatically (I did not touch anything) change to intermittent. To get them back to continuous you have to switch off/on or high/low. Wipers slow down for no reason during time low or high speed wiping conditions. In order to keep the pipers wiping continuously I have to switch to another setting before going back to the desired high or low seed. Very dangerous and distracting in low visibility conditions.
