Oil filter housing cap broke during Oil filter change.
The Catalytic Converter is the issue per our mechanic. We have had several issues out of the the vehicle, resulting in more money than the car is worth. The car no longer reaches over 55-60 mph, which is unsafe on the highway. Many times the car wont start. We thought it was the battery which have been changed several times, but the last mechanic stated it in fact the recall part that is needed.
Recently I have been having issues with the rear back up camera in the vehicle not working turning off beeping when nothing is around, also glitching and showing the camera upside down. I am also experiencing battery drainage in the vehicle I have just had the battery replaced and the alternator replaced as well, while I am searching online for common issues this seems to be happening to a large amount of people and the issues just keep equaling out to more then one problem. Motors staying on, electrical problems, constant power draws, many more issues I have many links to articles with dodge journey owners having numerous issues and dodge not wanting to fix anything or recall things to fix their mistakes. Battery, car started turning off. Turned off on us when we made a stop right after getting off of freeway, luckily no car were coming. Changed Battery but still had problems. Then check engine light turned on, car stared pulling, had a mechanic check it and said it was the engine. We would have to replace it and that's those kind of cars we're having a lot of problems.
Transmission mount and engine mount and drive shaft mount breaking all the time. Transmission going out on vehicle.
many things had to be fixed like the camshift senor, tps, new battery after 2 months. the car will only crack and crack it will not fire. have took it everywhere and never get the answer as to what is wrong with it. the key fob will work hit and miss will show no key

The contact then stated that her husband was able to tow the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where they disconnected the Bluetooth module. The contact stated that the vehicle was operable however, a few days later, while driving, the check engine and throttle body warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle stalled again. The contact stated that she allowed the vehicle to rest for fifteen minutes to before being able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to an inspection station to be inspected but failed due to the mass air flow sensor. Our 2013 Dodge Journey (only owners) has had a few recalls and had multiple challenges with overheating within the engine. Although, We have had all the recalls we are aware of completed it continues to shut off and not start. Ours, our children, and other passengers safety has been at risk as we have been strained with no running vehicle and the unknown if the vehicle will just shut off while in operation. While we can not guarantee the sources of the general internet it is a common search and alignment to say an abundance of 2013 Dodge Journey owners have experienced this and have been searching for answers yet have not received an adequate response. Our vehicle has been inspected by a Dodge facility, and two other independent mechanics to no avail we are in this situation with no answers nor solutions. Our check engine light has been present...
Vehicle will not start. Took to dealership and they charged battery. After repairing some recommendations I got the car back and it wouldn’t start. Same issue as before, I took it back and they said it was dead battery. I paid for a new battery and drove it home. Next day it would not start. I’ve been reading some reader boards and I’m told it has to do with wiring to the transmission. It gets cold in Alaska and my daughter and granddaughter can’t be stranded in inclement weather. Tested the starter and the alternator and both are good. New battery and new key fob battery and still a no go. Dodge needs to figure this out, as their certified mechanics can’t seem to diagnose the issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Journey. The contact stated initially noticed that power steering fluid was leaking onto his driveway. The contact also stated that while driving at slower speeds, extra effort was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V273000 (Steering) however, the Vin was not included. Additionally, he also stated that while his wife was at stop light, the vehicle shut-off while accelerating. The contact stated that his wife was unaware if any warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. She was able to immediately restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
MY CAR STALLED ON ME WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME (2014) IT HAPPENED I WAS MAKING A TURN ON A CITY STREET. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE DIED. DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES FLASHED OFF AND ON. SPEEDOMETER WENT BACK AND FORTH. THEN IT STARTED RUNNING AGAIN. A COUPLE DAYS LATER IT DIED WHILE TURNING A CORNER. I HAD TO RESTART VEHICLE. A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THAT I WENT TO START THE CAR AND NO LIGHTS, GAUGES OR NOTHING WORKED. THE BATTERY AND REMOTE KEY WERE FINE. CHECKED TO SEE IF HORN WOULD BLOW, IT WORKED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ALL THE SUDDEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON IN MY STEERING LOCKED UP. I PULLED TO A MIDDLE LANE SINCE IT WAS IN A VERY BUSY ROAD AND SHUT MY CAR OFF AND TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT STARTED SHAKING. AGAIN TURN THE CAR OFF LET IT SIT FOR A LITTLE BIT TRY TO TURN IT ON AND IT STARTED SHAKING AGAIN. ABOUT OCTOBER 2019, WHILE PULLING INTO A GAS STATION, MY 2013 DODGE JOURNEY JUST SHUT OFF. NO WARNINGS, NO LIGHTS WENT OFF TO INDICATE WHAT HAPPENED. I PUT IT IN PARK, PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON SO THAT THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY OFF, AND THEN RE-STARTED IT. IT STARTED WITH NO ISSUES, AND WAS FINE. THEN IN NOVEMBER OF 2019 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT, WHICH CAME BACK THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEED SOME ATTENTION. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WASN'T ON, AND IT STAYED OFF. THAT IS UNTIL TODAY, 2.20.2020. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. MY DODGE JOURNEY'S ENGINE SHUT OFF TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. NO LOSS OF LIGHTS OR RADIO, BUT THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF AND CAR CANNOT BE RESTARTED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, AND RIGHT AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR DIED. MY 2013 DODGE JOURNEY HAS A RANDOM NO START. IT WILL JUST CLICK. THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND STARTER ARE ALL GOOD. I USUALLY HAVE TO JUMP IT TO GET IT TO START. SOMETIMES THAT DOESN'T EVEN WORK. IT WILL MAKE THE LIGHTS START TO GO HAYWIRE. THEY WILL FLICKER OR FLASH ON AND OFF. IT WILL SAY NO KEY DETECTED WHEN I'M LITERALLY SITTING WITH MY KEY FOB IN HAND. IT IS A PUSH BUTTON START. I HAVE GOT THE BATTERIES REPLACED IN THE KEY FOB AS WELL. THIS WILL HAPPEN AT RANDOM. IT'S HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE SO WE PARKED IT ON THE CURB WHERE IT WAS FLAT TO SEE OF MAYBE THE INCLINE OF THE DRIVEWAY HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT, BUT IT'S DONE IT ON FLAT SURFACES AS WELL. THE ENGINE HAS STARTED TO CUT OFF WHEN I DECELERATE, SUCH AS TO MAKE A TURN OR COME TO A STOP. THIS IS DANGEROUS IN MID-TRAFFIC, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY FAMILY IS IN THE CAR. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT, AS IN THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS YESTERDAY. I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING THIS WITH THEIR DODGE JOURNEYS AND WONDERING WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR THIS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE.
I WAS CHARGED OVER $1100 FOR AN ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY AND LABOR. THEN WHEN I WAS GIVEN MY BILLING PAPERWORK THE MILAGE WAS WRITTEN IN AS 155000 MILES. MY ACTUAL MILEAGE WAS OVER 167000 MILES THEREBY VOIDING ALL WARRANTIES AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO. I HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FORCE THEM TO FIX THE PAPERWORK. JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO I TOOK MY CHALLENGER IN TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED. THEY OVERFILLED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. AGAIN I HAD TO RETURN TO HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE LAKE CITY DEALERSHIP FOR 6 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS SUNBELT . NOW IT IS ROUNDTREE MOORE AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES SINCE THE CHANGE.
MY JOURNEY KEEPS STALLING ON ME ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED (RED LIGHTS,STOP SIGNS, IN TRAFFIC ETC.) AT ONE POINT IT EVEN STALLED OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND I COULDN'T MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, BRAKES, NOTHING! IT COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I WAS LUCKY THAT THAT TIME I WAS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT. AT FIRST THE FUEL CAP LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, DODGE DEALER TOLD US TO JUST HAVE THE CAP REPLACED (WE DID) BUT THE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF STILL AND NOT RESOLVING ANY PROBLEMS. THEN A RED LIGHTENING BOLT CAME ON A COUPLE TIMES AND THAT'S WHEN MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF AT A STOP AND TRY RESTARTING ON ITS OWN. NOW AT THE MOMENT NO LIGHTS ARE ON AND IT'S STILL STALLING. AND EVERY TIME IS STALLS IT'S ALWAYS IN DRIVE AND WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF. IT HAS STALLED...
FOR TWO YEARS BATTERY HAS BEEN UNABLE TO HOLD CHARGE, EVEN WHEN REPLACED NEW, ENGINE RIDING ROUGH TO COMPLETE STOP IN ROAD, NO FLASHERS ETC. ALTERNATOR REPLACED COMPLETE ELECTRIC HARNESS BURNT, ALL FIXED STILL WILL NOT HOLD BATTERY CHARGE. NO CAR FOR TWO MONTHS. CAR STALLED IN ROAD.
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR WHICH I DID. AN HOUR LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN THEN I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WHICH I DID. AFTER AN HOUR DRIVE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR DIED COMPLETELY I HAD TO GET TOWED. I WAS TOLD TO GET AN ALTERNATOR FROM MOPAR WHICH I DID. NEW BATTERY ANOTHER NEW ALTERNATOR A NEW SENSOR NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
MISFIRE, LOSS OF POWER, AND STALLING WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE IDLING . HAD VEHICLE INSPECTED. CYLINDER #2 HAS A MISFIRE AND THE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDS REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WAS INVOLVED IN AN EXTENDED WARRANTLY FROM CHRYSLER TO COVER ALL VEHICLES FITTED WITH THE 3.6 LITER MOTOR FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER MY PARTICULAR VIN ISN'T SHOWING THAT IT IS COVERED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE EXACT SAME MOTOR, YEAR MAKE AND MODEL, AND ISSUES AS THE OTHERS. THIS IS NOT FAIR THAT I AM EXPERIENCE THESE ISSUES BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE MY VIN ISN'T ON THE LIST!!! THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND IS DANGEROUS. ALSO, THE STARTER, BATTERY, AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.

CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE - ENGINE LOCK SUDDENLY AS VALVE WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY AT TIME OF MANUFACTURING. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THIS MAKE OF DODGE. MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED PER THE DEALER AND SHOULD BE. THE VALVE IS FAULTY. CAUSING BURNT VALVE AND WARPED HEAD. *EXTREMELY COSTLY REPAIR THAT WAS UNAVOIDABLE WITH RECOMMENDED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE! DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT INCLUDED MY VIN IN RECALL.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR THROUGH TOWN(35MPH) WHEN IT JUST SHUT OFF. I DIDN'T HAVE POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. NO ALERT LIGHTS COME ON. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A GAS STATION, PUT IT IN PARK THEN IT RESTARTED AFTER I PUSHED THE BUTTON. I DID CHAT WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID NO RECALLS OR ISSUES SHOWED UP FOR MY CAR. AFTER GOOGLING MY EXPERIENCE, I FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IF I HAD BEEN GOING FASTER ON THE HIGHWAY OR EVEN ON OUR CURVY BACKROADS I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED! I DRIVE MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR AND I'M SCARED TO DEATH TO GET BACK IN IT. I'M STILL PAYING ON NB THIS CAR AND IT'S A DEATHTRAP!

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL HER BACK, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED SHE WENT TO PICKED UP HER CAR, SHE WAS CHARGED $766.00 AND RECALL WAS NOT DONE. CAR IS STILL DOING WHAT CONSUMER BROUGHT IT IN FOR. BRAKE MODULE IS STILL BAD, I'M SURE I WILL NEED ANOTHER BRAKE JOB....

DODGE JOURNEY BURST INTO FLAMES AFTER BEING REPAIRED AFTER A FACTORY RECALL, DRIVER HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY STOP AND EXIT THE VEHICLE UNTIL SMOKE SUBSIDED AND FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED.
I HAVE A 5YR. 100,00 ML WARRANTY ON THIS CAR BUMBER TO BUMBER . MONTHS OF PROBLEMS TO FIND OUT IT HAS INTERNAL FAILURE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE.. MONTHS OF CAR JUMPING, TOWING, DOORS LOCKING CANT GET OUT, LIGHTS FLASHING,2 RECALLS, BROUGHT A CAR BATTERY NOW ITS SITTING ON DODGE LOT SINCE 10/17/17.AN WILL NOT RUN. AS A CONSUMER WHO BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE BELIEVING DODGE WOULD HOLD TO THIS ACCOUNTABILITY TOTAL FAILURE AND WANTS ME TO PAY FOR IT THIS SHOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.
WHILE DRIVING ON U.S. 84 HIGHWAY IN ALABAMA I NOTICED THE ENGINE MAKING A STRANGE NOISE AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I COULD THEN SEE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I COULD SEE AT THE BASE OF THE ENGINE ORANGE FLAMES. USED WATER BOTTLES ON HAND TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. AFTER MY INSURANCE COMPANY SENT OUT INSPECTORS IT WAS FOUND THAT WIRING TO THE OXYGEN SENSOR HAD SHORTED OUT CAUSING THE FIRE. INSPECTORS BELIEVE IT WAS FAULTY WIRING THAT CAUSED THE FIRE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY.
VEHICLE STALLS FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING. MAKES BRAKING AND STEERING VERY DIFFICULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. ALL TIMES THE WEATHER WAS GOOD AND DRY. THERE ARE NO CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THERE IS NO WAY TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM.

BOUGHT THE 2013 DODGE JOURNEY BRAND NEW ON MARCH 2013. MY JOURNEY ONLY HAS LESS THAN 21,000 MILES ON IT AND YET THE V6 MISFIRES CAUSING THE GAS TO FILL THE (ALL THE WAY TO THE MUFFLER) BACK AND FRONT (ENGINE) OF THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I TURN ON MY CAR SATURDAY MORNING, THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND I COULD SMELL THE GAS FUMES FILLING UP THE INSIDE IF THE CAR. I DROP IT OFF TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND I WAS TOLD, I WAS LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T CAUGHT ON FIRE.
AT 80K MILES THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SENSOR WENT BAD. ALSO BREAK SYSTEM LIGHT AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WONT GO OFF.
