TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND MADE A POPPING NOISE, AND THE DRIVER'S FRONT WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE, DAMAGING THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT BUMPER. THE CITY OF COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT NUMBER WAS C-278012. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS A BROKEN DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AXLE WHICH CAUSED THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE. THE MANUFACTURER ENGINEER INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A DEFECT, BUT IT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVER IMPACT. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF INJURIES.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILES WERE 40,000.
