2010 DODGE JOURNEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE DRIVING AND CONSUMER SEEKS FINANCIAL COMPENSATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE, THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE.
WENT TO HAVE MY BRAKES INSPECTED DUE TO A SCREECHING SOUND. THE SOUND AT 1ST LASTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS. BY THE TIME I MADE IT TO THE BRAKE SHOP IT OF COURSE STOPPED. UPON INSPECTION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM WE WERE TOLD THAT IN 3 MORE DAYS THE BRAKES WOULD HAVE WENT OUT. WE DO NOT DRIVE HARD OR EVER HAVE TO STOP FAST. MY HUSBAND & I LEARNED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS AN KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE SHOP.. WE WERE TOLD THE BRAKES WILL SCREECH & THEN STOP WORKING IF NOT FIXED RIGHT AWAY! THAT'S VERY SCARY AS WE DON NOT WANT TO CRASH & KILL SOMEONE OR OUR SELVES. THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED STARTING WITH THE CALIPERS & WAS RUBBING IN THE PAD CAUSING EXTREME WEAR & IS WAS SAID THE MANUFACTURED BRAKE ARE NOT MADE TO STOP A VEHICLE SO HEAVY AS OURS. AND FOR...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY WHEN HE NOTICED A FIRE HAD ERUPTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVEWAY AND CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY AND WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE HOWEVER, THE RPMS WOULD RISE WHEN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WERE THE OXYGEN SENSOR AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
1) I HAD THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACES AFTER OWNING THE CARE 7 DAYS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT RODARS AND BRAKE PADS. SIX WEEKS LATER I COMPLAINED OF THE METAL TO METAL SOUND FROM THE REAR BRAKES, BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME, "YOU CAN KEEP DRIVING THE CAR, IT'S OK FOR NOW". NOW THE BRAKES ARE TOTALLY GONE AND THE FRONT BRAKES ARE CAUSING THE CAR TO SHAKE WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN...AGAIN!! 2) THE CAR DOESN'T ALWAYS START. YOU HAVE TO CRANK THE KEY 4-5 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL START. THIS SEEMS TO BE IN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. 3) THE TRANSMISSION JERKS INTO GEAR. 4) THE PLASTIC IN THE WHEEL WELL COMING OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NO FAILURES WERE DISCOVERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND EACH TIME THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AND THERE WERE NO FAILURE CODES PRODUCED THROUGH DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,697.

THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE KEY IN THE ON AND OFF POSITION NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF ASSISTING THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000. UPDATED 11/221/11*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TO TURN THE KEY NUMEROUS TIMES, TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START.
MY DODGE WAS PURCHASED AND ORIGINALLY HAD A RADIO CONNECTION PROBLEM. WHERE IT PLAYED STATIC WHILE PLAYING A CD AS WELL AS THE SPEAKERS SOUNDED BLOWN OUT. SINCE HE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND STILL SEEMS TO REMAIN THE SAME. I HAVE HAD THE ALIGNMENT DONE 4 TIMES SINCE MAY 2011 AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS.THE AC HAS A DELAY WHEN TURNED ON. BUT MY BIGGER PROBLEM IS WHEN I FELT MY CAR SHUDDER WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB. IT SERIOUSLY FELT AS THOUGH THE WHEELS WERE GOING TO FALL RIGHT OFF AND OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED NO PROBLEM ALTHOUGH WHEN WE TEST DROVE THE CAR THE ! LIGHT IN THE DASH CAME ON. SO THEY HAD ME WAIT ABOUT 20 ADDITIONAL MINUTES TO FIX THE ISSUE. SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN MY CAR BACK IT NOW SHUTS...

STARTED WITH A FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AFTER AWHILE WILL STAY ON & ONLY FLASH INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER FOUND CODE FOR #1 CYLINDER MISFIRE & A TSB TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE. 2 WEEKS LATER IT RETURNED, WHEN THE LIGHT FLASHES THE STEERING WHEEL & FRONT END SHAKES. NO CODES, NO TSBS. IT RETURNED WITHIN 80 MILES OF LAST TRIP TO DEALER, THEY PERFORMED TSB 18-024-10 CRANK SENSOR SHIM, LIGHT RETURNED ALONG WITH THE SHAKING WITHIN DAYS. DEALER REPLACED FLEXPLATE. AGAIN THE LIGHT RETURNED WITHIN DAYS. NEXT THEY DID SOME FORM OF ENGINE CLEANING, LIGHT RETURNED WITHIN 500 MILES OF LAST ATTEMPT TO FIX. CODES ARE ALWAYS#1 CYLINDER MISFIRE & RANDOM CYLINDER MISFIRE. ON MAY 16TH THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT, DID A COMPRESSION CHECK OF THE CYLINDERS, ALL GOOD. CHRYSLER SUPPORT TOLD THEM TO CHANGE THE PCM. AS OF MAY 19TH IT WAS 7TH NATION WIDE ON BACK ORDER WHILE I...
I HAD A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY THAT CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND PROCEEDED TO BURN TO THE GROUND. I WAS TURNING TO PARK IN FRONT OF MY FRIEND'S HOME, WHEN THE FIRE BURST OUT OF THE ENGINE, NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. THIS, ON ITS OWN, MAY NOT BE OVERLY MONUMENTAL, BUT THERE ARE MANY FACTORS INVOLVED THAT I BELIEVE NEED TO BE BROUGHT TO PUBLIC ATTENTION. FIRST, THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE MARCH 11 INCIDENT. THE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE FIRE WAS A DEFECT INVOLVING THE STEERING FLUID LINE....AN ISSUE THAT HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES IN THIS VEHICLE!! THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2009 JOURNEY, BUT NOTHING FOR THE 2010. SEEMS TO ME THAT WHATEVER THE TOLUCA MEXICO ASSEMBLY PLANT HAS BEEN DOING WRONG, HASN'T BEEN RECTIFIED!!! 2010 DODGE JOURNEY, WHILE RETURNING THIS VEHICLE TO THE RENTAL OFFICE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. BOTH HAD BEEN GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND WERE ABOUT 35 TO 40 FEET APART WHEN THE DODGE JOURNEY ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT WAS STRUCK, WOULD NOT STOP EVEN THOUGHT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. AFTER THE ACCIDENT WHILE THE FRONT SEAT PERSONS WERE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE ON BOTH VEHICLES THE DODGE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AGAIN WITH NO ONE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS SHUT OFF AT THIS POINT.
