THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY WITH A STRONG SHUDDER, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED, ESC OFF, AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, BUT THE WARNING INDICATORS CONTINUED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. MY CAR ONLY HAS 95897 MILES ON IT AND THEIRS SOMETHI G WRONG WITH THE ENGIN TRANSMISSION ... CARS BEEN WELL TAKEN CAR OF AND WHEN YOU CLIMB HILLS IT LOOSES POWER AND HAS A HARD TIME CLIMBING THE HILL.
I WAS DRIVING AND THEN CAME TO A STOP TO PULL ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. WHEN I TURNED ON THE HIGH WAY MY MALIBU WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, AS A SEMI PULLED UP BEHIND ME I HAD TO PUT IT ALMOST IN A DITCH SO I WOULDN'T GET HIT. MY MECHANIC SAYS ITS THE 3,5,R WAVE PLATE AND THAT HE LOOKED AT ALL THE MALIBU FORUMS ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. NEVER BUYING A CHEVY AGAIN. *TR

THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,575.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING 60MPH. THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 5MPH AND STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING, AND I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL TO THE SHOULDER LANE, "REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, ALONG WITH "ESC TRACTION CONTROL". RESTARTED MY CAR AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. ABOUT 15 MINS LATER, IT DID THE SAME THING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE AROUND ME.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS AT IDLE (STOP LIGHT), THE ENGINE SURGES AND SPUTTERS AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL / ECS LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THE CAR WILL THEN ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY ONLY UP TO ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT A GM DEALER ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR A VEHICLE RECALL ON THE MAIN BODY WIRING CONNECTOR TO BCM. NOTE: THE GM FIX IS TO "CLEAN" THE CONNECTOR AND ADD DIELECTRIC GREASE TO PREVENT CORROSION. THE CAR WAS FINE AFTER THAT UNTIL NOW. I'VE SEEN MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THE "FIX" IS ONLY TEMPORARY.
ONE OF MY NEW TIRES CONTINUALLY DEFLATE. AFTER TAKING TO TIRE CO. 6OF8WKS TO GET AIR, I WAS TOLD I HAVE A CRACKED WHEEL AND WILL PAY $500 FOR A USED WHEEL OR UP TO $1000 FOR AUTHORIZED DEALER TO REPLACE IT. I PAY $50 EXTRA F/PLATINUM WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY FOR AIRBAG SVC'ING TO GET INSPECTION--AND $100 DEDUCTIBLE FROM WARRANTY COMPANY. IN 2YRS, I'VE PAID $1200 F/WARRANTY PLUS $150 DEDUCTIBLE@AUTHORIZED SERVICE CTR-PINKERTON CHEV IN LYNCHBURG, VA-AND IT TOOK 3 WEEKS THAT I HAD TO BUM A RIDE TO WORK OR PAY A CAB. NOW, I'M RIDING ON A "DONUT" AND MY GAS MILEAGE IS <8MPG........W/A $389 CAR NOTE AND $200 CAR INSURANCE NOTE.

I HAD TO HAVE OVER $2500 WORTH OF WORK DONE TO MY CAR, WHICH HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH SOME TORQUE SENSOR AND OTHER PARTS - I SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER CHEVY MALIBU'S IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. I AM WONDERING HOW LONG THIS RECALL WILL TAKE, MY YEAR IS 2010 AND NOT CURRENTLY ON THE RECALL LIST. TAKATA RECALL-MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN AUG. 2011. I AM TERRIFIED IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT THEY WON'T DEPLOY AND MYSELF OR A PASSENGER MAY BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE DRIVERS INFORMATION CENTER INDICATED A ELECTRONIC STABILITY SERVICE, TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE AND ESC OFF MESSAGES. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER A TWO DAY PERIOD. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY SAID THAT THE COMPUTER HAD STORED A P0300 CODE WHICH IS ENGINE MISFIRE. THE ENGINE RUNS FINE HOWEVER THERE IS A SLIGHT VIBRATION AT IDLE WHILE IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. GM ALSO SENT OUT A LETTER TO ME STATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE POSISTION SENSOR THAT MAY CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. THE DEALER DID NOT ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOS THE PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR AND STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD A BAD #2 CYCLINDER WITH COMPRESSION AT 100LBS. THE P0300 CODE CAN BE CAUSED BY THE VARIOUS ELECTRONIC MESSAGES THAT HAVE APPEARED AND THE ENGINE IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THEY WANTED TO TEAR IT DOWN...
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SERVICE ESC, TRACTION CONTROL, AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. CAR ALSO MISFIRED. WHENEVER I PRESS THE GASS AND I LET IT GO THE CAR KEEPS GOING AND WHEN I TRY TO STOP THE CAR TAKES LONGER TO STOP BECAUSE THE ENGINE TRY TO KEEP GOING SO I HAVE TO PRESS THE BREAK HARDER AND WHEN FINALLY STOPS AFTER LIKE 5 MINUTES THE CAR GOES NORMAL.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU 2LT FWD. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST OF 2013, SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER USED A FAULTY 3-5 REVERSE WAVE PLATE. THIS IS THE SAME WAVE PLATE THAT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO VEHICLES IN THE RECALL OF SIMILAR VEHICLES IN THE 2007-2009 MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS SOME SORT OF FREELOADER BECAUSE I DIDNT NOT FEEL A CAR WITH 63000 MILES ON IT SHOULD HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE FELL APART AND SHREDDED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT NOT ONCE NOT TWICE BUT 3 TIMES. AS THE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE THE 1ST 2 TIMES THE CAR STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY, THE VERY FIRST...

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,400.

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT A CARBON CLEANING NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
ON 9/15/15 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A RED LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP OR BANG FROM MY FRONT END, WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GM THEY FINALLY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER (AFTER 2 WEEKS) TO HAVE IT FIXED OR LOOKED AT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON AT THE TIME RESET IT SELF BUT THE 2CODES FOUND IN THE COMPUTER WERE THE P0716 AND P0717 TRANSMISSION CODES BUT SINCE THEY WERE HISTORIC (WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON EXCEPT FOR THE BREAK LIGHT ISSUE) THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY CAR WAS FINE. I PICKED IT UP AND OFF I WENT. 12 DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE BUCKED MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE...

I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN TO TURN AND WHEN I ACCELERATED A QUICK FLASH OF THE SERVICE ECM MESSAGE CAME ON AND THEN DISAPPEARED, BUT THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, IT WOULD TURNOVER, RUN FOR 2 SECONDS AND THEN DIE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE, WHERE WE CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TOOK IT OVER TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THE ELECTRONICS SCANNED, WHERE IT SHOWED 3 CODES: U0121, P0106, P0621. THEY SCANNED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR, AND ALL CAME UP WITH A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH (SO TO SPEAK). UPON READING ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS WAS AN ISSUE IN MALIBU'S 2004-2009 (WHICH WAS RECALLED), AND I BELIEVE THEY NEVER FIXED THE ISSUE AND NOW 2010'S MAY BE AFFECTED. MY WORRY IS THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT WILL BE AT A BUSIER...
I WAS DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65MPH. SUDDENLY I GOT A NOTIFICATION THAT THE ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN DECREASED. MY ENGINE WOULDN'T GO PAST 2000 RPM AND MY SPEED DECREASED SIGNIFICANTLY. I PULLED OVER AND AT THAT TIME I GOT ANOTHER NOTIFICATION STATING THAT MY ENGINE IS BEING DISABLED. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT 8 TIMES. THIS STOPPED HAPPENING FOR A GOOD YEAR AND A HALF UNTIL THIS PAST WEEK. IT HAPPENED TO MY PREGNANT WIFE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY AND IT HAPPENED TO ME IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I PUT A CODE SCANNER TO READ THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IT DIDN'T READ ANYTHING. WHICH MEANS THE CPU ISN'T READING THE ERROR.

I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FIRST TO RUN AN ELECTRICAL TEST, WHERE THEY REPROGRAMMED A SENSOR (COST=$158.95). A FEW DAYS LATER THE VERY SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AND AT THIS TIME WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND MY CAR HAD SHUT ITSELF OFF. I THEN BROUGHT IT IN WHERE THE FOUND CODES REGARDING THE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR PROBLEMS. THE SERVICE PLACE THEN MONITORED BOTH THE COMPUTER DATA FOR THE MAP SENSOR AND THE ACTUAL SENSOR DATA DURING TEST DRIVE AND FOUND THAT WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS THE COMPUTER DATA DROPS OUT BUT THE SENSOR DATA REMAINS THE SAME, THEY SUGGESTED THAT IT COULD BE A POSSIBLE WIRING PROBLEM, AND I AGREED TO HAVE THEM REPLACE THE SENSOR.(COST+$275.15).
