OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE, CAR USES SO MUCH OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND DOESN'T ALERT YOU WHEN IT'S LOW.
EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, ENGINE MAKES NOISE, NEED TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 2000 MILES, NEED TO CHECK OIL LEVEL EVERY WEEK. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
MY VEHICLE RANDOMLY DIES WHILE DRIVING. AT 94500 CK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD ONE SOLENOID REPLACED AND CHANGED THE OIL. A WEEK LATER THE ENGINE STALLED A FEW TIMES IN A PARKING LOT. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. REPLACED A 2ND SOLENOID. 3/5/19, A WEEK LITTLE OVER A WEEK IT STALLED 5 TIMES IN A PARKING LOT. PD AGAIN TO HAVE MECHANIC SCAN IT NOTHING SHOWED UP. 3/7/19 CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS. 3/9/19 DROVE TO MILWAUKEE. GOT THERE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,STABIL TREK LIGHT & ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTIFICATION. AN HOUR LATER SEEMED FINE. ON THE WAY HOME ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON IN ROLLING TRAFFIC HAD TO PULL OFF BC IT DIED A COUPLE OF TIMES. LET IT SIT A BIT THEN STARTED HOME AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 5 MILES GOING 60MPH ON THE INTERSTATE IN A SNOW/RAIN STORM THE VEHICLE DIED, WHILE DRIVING IT. I...
I HAVE EXPERIENCED OVER EXCESSIVE USE OF OIL, ON BOTH STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVING, WHILE IN MOTION, MY CAR STARTED TO CHOKE ITSELF OUT WHEN I WOULD STOP AT A STOP SIGN/LIGHT. OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CHEVY 2011 EQUINOX, I HAVE HAD EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. THE OIL USAGE WAS SO EXTENSIVE THAT I WAS HAVING TO PUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES OR LESS.......ALL OF THIS EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING HAS TO EXHAUST SOMEWHERE, I REACHED OUT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP AND ASKED THEM TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD FIND OUT FOR ME, AND THEY RETURNED WITH A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PAPER TO FILL OUT. I HAD BEEN DOING THIS OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHEN MY EXHAUST STARTED TO CLOG CAUSING MY REAR ENGINE SEAL TO BLOW, AND LEAK EVERY BIT OF OIL OUT OF MY MOTOR, ALL OF THIS RESULTED FROM THE EXCESSIVE OIL...
I GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND I WENT TO GET IT TESTED AND IT SAYS THAT IT IS A EXHAUST POSITION TIMING ISSUE. NO MECHANIC CAN FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN JERKING AROUND WHEN I DRIVE, IT WON'T BACK UP AND IT BACKFIRES AND I'M TERRIFIED OF DRIVING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BALISE CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (LOCATED AT 440 HALL OF FAME AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MA 01105, (413) 233-4668) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL AND A STRETCHED TIMING CHANGE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A PROTOCOL TO HAVE THE ENGINE OIL CHECKED EVERY 1,000 MILES TO SEE IF THERE WAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS IN THE MANUFACTURER'S PERIMETER FOR OIL USAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE OF 120,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND OIL RUNS OUT WELL BEFORE RECOMMEND OIL CHANGE AND NO LOW OIL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. CAR BURNS A LOT OF OIL AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE FROM ENGINE BUT TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS BRAND.
THE CAR HAS BEGAN USING RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF OIL, I HAVE TO PUT A QUART OF OIL IN EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED HAVING ISSUES IT LITERALLY JUST PASSED THE 100K MILEAGE MARK AND THIS STARTED, AS IF IT WAS TIMED BY THE WARRANTY, I SEE TONS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE
ON 2.2.2019 AROUND 11AM I LEFT WORK RESTORATION HARDWARE OUTLET 301 W MAIN ST, CHRISTIANA, DE 19702 AND DROVE ACROSS THE STREET TO GET LUNCH AT ACME 1 UNIVERSITY PLAZA, NEWARK, DE 19702. IT WAS 28* OUT AND WE HAD A FEW DAYS OF BELOW 32*. AS I WAS LEAVING THE ACME PARKING LOT ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH. I IMMEDIATLEY STOPPED AND SHUT OFF CAR. ACROSS THE STREET WAS AN EXXON STATION ON 300 CHAPMAN RD, NEWARK, DE 19713. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID I WAS LEAKING OIL. HE PUT IN A QUART THEN ANOTHER IT CAME RIGHT BACK OUT AND SAID IT COULD BE A REAR MAIN SEAL. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT 'THAT STATED---- PLUGGED PCV ORIFICE IN INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR THE 2010-2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EQUIPPED WITH 2.4L ECOTEC ENGINE (LAF, LEA OR LUK) 2.4L ENGINE (LAF, LEA OR LUK)...
ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND SMOKING, DIED WHILE MOVING. ENGINE SEIZED DUE TO NO OIL. ADDED 1 QT OF OIL THE DAY BEFORE. LOW OIL LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED WITHIN 3,000 MILES. CAR NEEDS WHOLE NEW ENGINE.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, MANUFACTURER WON'T HONOR WARRANTY BECAUSE IT EXPIRED 4 MONTHS AGO, DESPITE MILEAGE BEING HALF TO REQUIREMENT. WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE WARRANTY OR IT'S EXPIRATION.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 11/16/2015 AND I START HAVING PROBLEMS IN JUNE/2016 GOT IT FIX,THEN THE TRANSMISSION BROKE AND I HAD IT REPLACED, I ALREADY SPEND LIKE 5000.00 DOLLARS NOW IT'S THE ENGINE IT WILL COST CLOSE TO 7.000.00 TO FIX IT NOW, I STILL OWE 1.500.00 JUST DO THE MATH,I WAS TOLD THAT THOSE VEHICLES CAME OUT WITH MANY IMPERFECTIONS I JUST FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL I HAVE NO MONEY TO FIX IT AND EVEN IF I DO WILL IT WORTH IT? THE VERY FIRST IT BROKE I WAS ON TRAVELING TO NEW MEXICO, THE TRANSMISSION BROKE HERE IN TOWN HWY 60 AND THE ENGINE HERE IN TOWN AS WELL.

MASSIVE OIL LEAK FROM ENGINE AND REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW OUT
VEHICLE LEAKING EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. BULLETIN NUMBER 14882 DOESN'T COVER MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AS WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE BULLETIN.
I OWN 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX. ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES. FIRST OCCURRENCE STARTED AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED ON ME COUPLE OF TIMES AS I WAS DRIVING OR AT STOP SIGN. MALFUNCTION ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT TURNED ON. TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO LOOK AT IT FOR AN ESTIMATE, SINCE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WILL COST AN ARM AND A LEG, BOTH SAID TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM AND I WOULD NEED TO GET A NEW MOTOR! ALSO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION YET NO SENSOR TURNS ON. CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS BUT ONLY SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!
ERROR CODE P010 CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID. ROUGH IDLE, DIES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.OR WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND TURNING. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON CARS BUILT IN DIFFERENT FACTORIES, THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR MINE BECAUSE IT WASNT MADE IN ONE OF THOSE FACTORIES. HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE SINCE VEHICLE WAS 3 MONTHS OLD. CHEVY DEALER TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY ISSUES
THE ENGINE IS A 2.4L ECOTEC ENGINE WHICH I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPAIRED TWICE IN BASICALLY TWO YEARS BUT IF YOU LOOK ON-LINE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS ENGINE MODEL. IT STARTS OFF AS A CHECK ENGINE FAULT CODE, RELATED TO EXHAUST OR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR BUT THE ISSUE TENDS TO BE A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. WHILE RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ON-LINE, I SEE NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS ECOTEC 2.4L ENGINE HAVING THIS ISSUE-AND ON DIFFERENT GM MODELS OF CARS.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ALTERNATOR, STARTER, AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
PCV SYSTEM FREEZES CAUSING THE LOW POWER MODE (LIMP MODE) AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. ITS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND GM COVERED IT ON A FEW CARS. NEXT TIME I MAY BE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MILES PER HOUR OVER A BRIDGE. MY VEHICLE STARTED LOOSING POWER. ABOUT 2 MILES AFTER THE BRIDGE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. NEVER CAME BACK ON.I WAS TOWED TO A SHOP WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS ENGINE CODE P228D, PREVIOUS TO THAT IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR ANOTHER ENGINE CODE P0302 WAS CAPTURED AND IN JULY OF THIS YEAR YET ANOTHER ENGINE CODE P0420 CAPTURED AS WELL, VIA A TRACKING SYSTEM THRU MY INSURANCE.
THE CHEVY CUSTOMER CARE REP STATED THAT THERE IS A "SPECIAL COVERAGE 15285 IS TIED TO YOUR VIN, WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION CONCERNS YOU'VE DESCRIBED. " MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING SIGNIFICANT OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES AND PLENTY OF NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE DESPITE HAVING A REGISTERED MYCHEVROLET ACCOUNT AND A HISTORY OF CONTACT WITH CHEVY. MY MECHANIC MENTIONED A KNOWN ISSUE WITH OIL CONSUMPTION AND SUGGESTED I LOOK INTO IT WHICH BROUGHT ME TO THIS POINT. AFTER CONTACTING CHEVY, THEY SUGGESTED I PAY TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC BUT THAT I WOULD NOT BE COVERED FOR ANY SERVICES DESPITE THE KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT AT 80,000 MILES, THE TIMING CHAIN FRACTURED AND CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 10 MONTHS AND IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN ANYTHING. IT'S ALREADY ON ITS SECOND ENGINE AND THAT WAS SEPTEMBER 14TH, NOW OCTOBER 23RD IT IS NOW NEEDING A TRANSMISSION. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE THE UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF OIL CHANGES AND TUNE UPS. I'VE STALLED IN REVERSE AND DRIVE. THE CAR DIED OUT WHILE DRIVING AND IS EXTREMELY LOUD AT TIMES. ALL I HAVE FOR DOCUMENTS ARE MY RECEIPTS. I'M DISABLED WITH CHILDREN AND WHEN I THOUGHT WE WERE BUYING A CAR WE BOUGHT A LOT OF PROBLEMS INSTEAD. CONSTANTLY TRYING TO STILL FIND RIDES TO DR APPTS AND SUCH. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT A RECALL HASN'T BEEN DONE YET, AFTER THE ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON SAID VEHICLE.
THIS IS A SAFETY COMPLAINT. I CARRY MY GRAND KIDS AND AM WORRIED FOR OUR SAFETY. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED DUE TO THE VERY LOW MILEAGE AND AM TRYING TO BE PROACTIVE. I KNOW OF MANY MANY HAPPENINGS. THE CARS STARTING AT ~ 5000 MILES WILL STALL OUT AT SIGNALS & ON THE ROAD. THIS WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN TO ME WHEN I REACH 5K MILES.THE CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE THAT GM CANNOT FIX. I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX I JUST PURCHASED AUG 5,2018 WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I WENT TO TURN IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE VEHICLE JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN I HAD TRY COASTING INTO A SPACE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE CENTER ONLY TO LEARN THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH G MM C/CHEVROLET. UNFORTUNATELY GMC IS TURNING A DEAF EAR TO THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF A MAJOR INTERSTATE I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND GMA IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND REFUSING TO DO A RECALL I'M PRAYING NOONE GETS KILLED BEFORE THEIR HAND IS FORCED TO MAKE THEIR PRODUCT SAFE FOR THE CONSUMER.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,253.
WHILE DRIVING CAR TREMBLED A LITTLE A MINUTE OR SO BEFORE IT SEEMINGLY LOST POWER, NO ACCELERSTION, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. LIGHTS REMAINED ON DASH BUT NO POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS. NOTHING. THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP NEAR SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THEBKEY AND CAR STARTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. THANKFUL I WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT, AND WASNT ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE I WAS JUST A FEW HOURS PRIOR. I COULDVE BEEN KILLED

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A FAILURE COULD NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FERMAN CHEVROLET 'TAMPA (9751 E. ADAMO DRIVE, TAMPA, FL 33619) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FRACTURED TIMING CHAIN AND THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 8-4527816728 WAS OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE SERVICE ROAD WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT NOTICE. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY VEHICLES TRAVELING BEHIND ME. THE CAR STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK SAFELY. HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHO FOUND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, EVEN THOUGH NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND WE CHECKED THE OIL 3 DAYS EARLIER. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT REPAIRS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE WARRANTY ISSUED BY GM. GM DENIED COVERAGE WITH NO EXPLANATION SENT TO ME. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FILE AN APPEAL, AND WAS GIVEN A FILE NUMBER AND TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS. DESPITE ALMOST DAILY FOLLOW UP CALLS BY ME FOR A MONTH NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. EACH TIME I AM TOLD IT THE CASE IS BEING HANDLED BY A...
MY TIMING CHAIN WAS MAKING NOISE. SINCE OTHER MODELS OF THE EQUINOX HAVE A BULLETIN THAT COVERS THAT REPAIR I DROVE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. ON THE WAY THERE MY ENGINE EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AT 40MPH, CRACKING THE ENGINE BLOCK AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD. ENGINE NEEDS REPLACEMENT. GM WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO GM. IT IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR, WORKING OFF AN ESTIMATE. I WILL ADD THE FINAL INVOICE LATER.
WHILE DRIVING AND I COME TO A STOP, , THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF BY ITSELF AND I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO TURN TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT IN ORDER FOR IT TO RUN AGAIN. THEY REPLACED BOTH INTAKE AND EXHAUST CAM SOLENOID AND ALSO THE EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL ON THE CAR. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL NOW, STARTED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND I WENT TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T START, SO I GOT IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THEY FOUND A LOT OF NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE SO THEY CHECKED THE COMPRESSION AND FOUND 0 PSI ON ALL CYLINDERS. THEY FOUND THE VALVES BENT AND TOP OF PISTONS SMASHED. EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION DUE TO PISTON RING WEAR CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE VEHICLE'S REPAIR COSTS. *JS
