There were several instances where my vehicle either accelerated or decelerated while I was driving. I first noticed the issue about a week after I purchased the car in May 2022. I took it back to Acura of Brookfield, and they said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I also took my car to Acura of Brookfield in September 2023 for the same jerking issue. They charged me for an update, but the issue did not change. I continued noticing the problem over the years, but it happened more frequently in 2025. In May 2025, I was driving down a hill in Brookfield, Wisconsin, when my car jerked aggressively and then accelerated on its own. Throughout the rest of the year, it would either accelerate or decelerate while I was on the highway. On January 20, while I was on my way to the gym, my car jerked and decelerated while...
Since 2020 the transmission does not shift properly from second to third gear. The power drops and the car shutters and makes noise like gear teeth are missing. This does not happen every time though. Sometimes multiple days will pass before the problem arises again. There have been a couple of times where I barely avoided a wreck because of the drop in power and underperformance of the transmission.
The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the transmission system error message displayed. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and turned off, and attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to respond. A local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall and suggested that the failure be reported to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 92,000.
I was driving and all of the sudden I hear a pop and total engine failure. I was lucky to be traveling at 45 mph and could coast off the road safely. After the damage occurred the motor would not turn over again. I had it towed to Acura and they told me my motor was locked up and specifically that my camshaft bearing had failed. I asked about the recall and they said my vin was not selected for the damage therefore there was nothing they could do other than replace the motor at my expense. I have yet to repair this vehicle and it has been sitting untouched ever since it was towed back to my home.
I recently took my vehicle in for service due to a noise coming from the oil pan area. Upon further inspection from my mechanic is appears that my vehicle had metal shavings in the oil pan and seems to be related to the connecting rod bearing issue that a recall was issued for. Unfortunately my vehicle was not part of the recall for this issue and perhaps should be included in potential expanded recall. I was told by my mechanic that I would need to either buy a used motor or new motor however my concern with a used motor is that I could potentially have the same issue again and be dealing with engine failure.
While travelling at highway speeds, I removed my foot from the accelerator to adjust speed for a lane change. When changing lanes and acceleration was then needed, there was no response from the engine for ~5 seconds. I depressed the accelerator several times with no response, which nearly caused an accident during the lane change. The engine did not stall. Eventually, the engine responded to the accelerator input. This has occurred multiple times under similar circumstances.
On [XXX], while driving from Orlando, FL to Atlanta, GA, I experienced one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I was traveling on the freeway at approximately 80 MPH, in lane 3 or 4, when my vehicle suddenly began to hesitate and lose power without any warning. In that moment, fear and panic took over. Cars were flying past me, and I could feel my truck rapidly decelerating. I immediately turned on my hazard lights and began honking to alert other drivers, praying they would give me space to move over. Thankfully, I was able to carefully navigate across lanes and reach the far-left shoulder. Once I got into the acceleration/deceleration lane, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward and began accelerating again—completely on its own. I knew I couldn't risk staying on the road, so I exited at the next ramp and pulled into a gas station, still shaken....
We purchased vehicle in Sept 2020. The vehicle has always had a rough jerk or rough shift when initially moving at stop lights or any stop and as vehicle is accelerated and to shifting to next gear. It is not a smooth transmission shift from initial start to first few gears. Just seems that at any time transmission may fail and vehicles behind may run into it.
Our engine started making a loud knocking noise that was clearly not good. We had a friend who is a mechanic come put it on the computer and he diagnosed that the rocker arm took out some valves or lifters. He looked up the car and found a recall for our make and model (2017 MDX with the 3.5L engine) that matches our exact issue. But the VIN does not appear in the search so our car is not covered by the recall despite it clearly being caused by the defect. I understand that there is an investigation into this that the NHTSA opened and Honda has been pushing for extensions. I was encouraged to add our car to this list to help you all see that the problem is much larger than originally thought. We are in a very tough spot and do not have the $5-10k to replace...
I reported these issues to Acura corporate and to Jackson Acura, dealership I purchased the vehicle from in February 2024. Beginning in July 2024 the vehicle would stall, de-accelerate then the automatic brake would engage, and the vehicle would go into "N" mode, Neutral and lock up. I was able to press the gas pedal a few times, and the vehicle would come back online and drive. This issue happens about every 100 miles driven. On [XXX] the vehicle suddenly de-accelerated, went into auto brake mode and then shifted into neutral. On this date the vehicle locked up suddenly to an abrupt stop, we were almost impacted in the rear with two other vehicles having to take evasive action to avoid hitting us. My wife and I were lucky not to injured by the sudden brake, or transmission lock up. There were no other issues with the vehicle until this...
The transmission failed. It is not able to be inspected unless retrieved by the dealer. While driving the vehicle the transmission would disengage. There were no warning lights or failures picked up by the CAN bus. This would happen during normal driving on the highway, potentially leaving the vehicle stranded in the middle of the highway. When issue occurred the transmission would make a whining noise. I was able to replicate the issue with the dealer. I am unaware if the part was inspected. I contacted Acura of America to report the problem. The issue mimicked the reported recall that Acura issue on a portion of MDX of the same year. They offered no assistance to the issue. There were no warning lights or indicators to let me know of a transmission issue.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY 2024 FROM A CERTIFIED ACUARA DEALER. ON DECEMBER 26TH THE VEHCILE SUDDENLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL MODE AND WOULD NOT CHANGE INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. THE CAR WAS SHUTDOWN AND RESTARTED ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER WITH THE DASHBOARD FULL OF WARNING LAMPS AT START UP. I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE CAR FROM THE ROADWAY BUT THE GEAR SHIFT CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK IN ANY GEAR. TRANSMISSION WARNING LAMP CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO MY HOME ADDRESS. THIS CAR WAS ACURA CERTIED USED. IT HAS BEEN MAINTAIND BY A HONDA SERVICE CENTER. ACURA, HONDA AND THE ACURA DEALER LOCALLY ALL HAVE STATED THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR OR WARRANTIES FOR THE ISSUES. THE CAR HAS 74582 MILES. BASED ON ONLINE FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MANY ACURA MDX OWNERS. ACURA AND HONDA AMERICA ARE NOT ACEPTING THEIR PRODUCT...
The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated that after a routine transmission flush, while driving approximately 40 MPH, the transmission was hesitating before shifting. The contact stated that vehicle was jerking into gear and made an abnormal banging sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH, and the transmission started to jerk while shifting into gear, while shifting lanes. The contact pulled off the highway and observed that numerous warning lights were illuminated. The check transmission message was displayed. The contact was able to shift to park(P) and turned the vehicle off several times. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to be shifted to drive(D); however, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the engine revved, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that numerous warning lights were...
The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the contact stated that previously the vehicle was parked and when the vehicle was started, the gear shifter was inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
I was driving on the interstate yesterday ([XXX]) and the transmission suddenly downshifted gears and also went to neutral. I managed to pull to the shoulder, but the sudden loss of power could easily have been life threatening at a more crowded time of day or in poor weather. The car was towed to McDaniel Acura in Columbia, SC (I was out of town) and problem confirmed. I also called my regular mechanic (a Honda specialist) and he said this was a known problem and referenced Acura service bulletin [XXX] which says to reload new software. Codes were: Transmission code P0716 Parking Brake System U0401-68 Parking brake warning light on Blind spot warning light on Why hasn't there been a recall on this??? It's a known problem and I could easily have been killed and hurt others. If not a recall, at least at least do something to alert owners...
Ive brought my MDX to the dealership service department 6 times for this issue, my car has been with the service department this last time since Nov 28th consecutively. In September I brought it in because my car would shift to park when the auto start/stop engaged, I would have to hit the brakes, shift back in to drive before I could take off. I was told there were 2 recalls that we remedied at that time. I brought my car back in a couple weeks later because the issue was persisting, I also started to get transmission and blind spot monitoring system alerts in those 2 weeks. I was told by the service department that the recall update wasn't "completed" when I brought it the previous time. The shift to park still was not fixed. At the 3rd time to the service department they replaced my starter. After this...
When stopping for traffic or at a light and accelerating for take off the car has a delay. It does nothing. It’s a 2sec delay that will be deadly to someone.
In October I noticed my engine knocking. It has always made a ticking sound so how long it might have knocked before we noticed I don’t know however in October it was clearly noticeable. The first thing I did was check my oil level and it was full. Over the several days it became more noticeable and one morning while driving my check engine light came on and the vehicle lost most(maybe 80%) of it’s power although it did continue running and I managed to make it home and immediately scheduled an appointment with Pecheles Honda to have it looked at. When I started the car the next morning the engine light was off and I drove it to the Honda dealership where I was told I would need a new engine. We regularly had the oil changed using synthetic oil and it never burned one drop of oil so...
In October the car had 46,000 miles and suddenly the car stopped because there was a transmission problem and we went to the dealer, they said it was an update the software problem, this is considered is not safe for me and my family because the car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. What if I was going 60 mph on the highway and they car suddenly stopped and caused an accident, and someone was hurt. I don't think it is an update problem. This morning I went to the dealer to talk about it, and they refused to do anything, and we are just reporting and if in the future it happens again then what are we supposed to do if we're on the middle of the highway.
When pulling into traffic the car wants to hesitate almost like stalling when going from 1st to 2nd gear 1st thing in the morning. Almost causing a crash it does it every morning after the car is driving the car for a while it no longer does it. There are no check engine lights on
The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated while at a stop light, the vehicle would not shift out of park. The contact attempted shifting into another gear however, the vehicle would not shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, because the vehicle would not shift out of park, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.
While in a residential area we were accelerating from a slow speed as we were leaving one corner and preparing to enter a second corner. The car then suddenly lurched forward followed by the drivetrain immediately entered into neutral - losing all forward power. We were able to coast across the end of a residential driveway. (The owner wasn’t thrilled about that at first but understood after an explanation.) We then turned the car off, ans waited about 15 minutes before restarting the car. At that point everything worked normally with no indication of a continuation of the problem. The car was in the comfort dynamic mode at the time. Although the transmission went into neutral during the incident the shift clearly remained in the drive position. We were very careful about checking to see if we had somehow been at fault - bit this was definitely not driver’s error....

On Friday May 5th, 2023 myson was driving our 2017 Acura MDX in heavy rush hour traffic on Interstate 355 near Homer Glen when suddenly and without warning the transmission failed and caused sudden deacceleration. He drove the car which was going 7 mph and engine revving and starting to clatter to get off the freeway. The check engine light came on. He called and informed me while on the exit ramp. I instructed him to pull into the Gas N Wash filling station at 15930 W 159th and shut the engine off, I left home immediately and upon arrival I looked under the hood for oil leakage or low level and belts broken. When I started the motor a knocking sound caused me to turn it off. This could have caused an accident due to heavy traffic at 70 MPH posted speed limit. The car has been towed to...
at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly shifts to neutral with no warning. The only indication is unexpected decrease in speed and accompanying engine rev. My typical driver response is to take foot off accelerator, then put back on again. Engine overrevs then shifts in to gear. I'd estimate it's out of gear for ~ 5 seconds, but hard to say in the heat of the driving moment. This happens 1-2X most highway trips, but not occur at lower speeds (it does not shift very smoothly in lower gears at times, but it's not currently a safety issue). I've taken it to my local dealer (Hendrick Acura, Durham, NC) and contacted Acura Customer Care, and am trying to get a diagnostic scheduled (it's been a process). The behavior started to worsen over the past several months (e.g. the slip to neutral has lengthened in time) but shorter slips have been occurring...
On a 2,000 mile family road trip the car shifted to neutral two times at highway speeds. Fortunately, I didn't lose my power steering or power brakes. The car remained on but I had no power. Then the car jerked, the rpm's dropped to 1,000 and then jumped around a little and the car took off again.
I was on the feeder road of a major freeway in Houston Texas at a stop the brake fully applied. The auto engine idle stop was enabled. When I removed my foot from the brake the engine did not restart. The lights, radio remained on but I was unable to drive my car or change the gear shift. Being on a freeway feeder was a dangerous place to be stalled and had to wait in major traffic for a tow truck to come as the vehicle could not be started or turned off. Completely inoperable. The check engine light was on and oil light. I was towed to a nearby maintenance shop where a p2638 code was listed. After the car was towed the car would restart. Prior to the incident there have been other occasions where the vehicle struggles to restart the engine from the auto idle. However there...
I had the transmission system failure error came on the dash and the car wouldn’t drive to D or reverse then blind spot and adaptive cruise control error propped up
My 2017 Acura MDX has many issues with both the transmission and electrical. It has an issue shifting between gears, makes a loud sound like metal on wash board, then loses power for 3-5 seconds. I went to put the car in drive and it would not go in drive recently. I've now had to replace the transmission at 79,006 miles. The electrical system lights up when driving telling me my electronic parking brake has been engaged and also that there is emission system issues. My daughter was terrified and crying since i had a loss of power at the same time my dash lit up and I had to get across 5 lanes of traffic to the shoulder of road. The towing company had to remove battery cable to get my electric parking break to release. This is a dangerous and scary automobile
Traveling on I-49 north at approximately 80 mph without any sign of a problem when suddenly the car began breaking, shifted into neutral, hazards flashing, and every light on my dash lit up (Emission system Failure, Braking Failure, and Transmission Failure). At first I thought it had something to do with the cruise control, so I tried turning that off, which did not help, so I pulled over to the shoulder safely. This really could have been dangerous had there been more traffic because the car could not accelerate. Once on the shoulder I engaged the parking break as the car would not shift into park or any other gear. I turned off the car while I called state police and roadside assistance. After a while I was able to turn the car on and move it to reverse because I was about 30 yards past an entrance ramp that...
Complete Transmission failure at 77,000 miles. Vehicle lost power at highway speeds causing a dangerous situation and stranded our family 650 miles from home. Had vehicle towed to the nearest acura dealership where I was told the transmission was terminal and needed to be replaced. Three weeks later the dealership has failed to find a transmission and nothing has happened. Acura extended a good faith discount on the repairs 4k down from 9k because it failed just out of warranty.
I was driving on the highway at normal highway speeds of 70MPH when the car lost the ability to accelerate, and I was forced to make an emergency stop on the side of the interstate. With the heavy traffic on the interstate, this scenario could have been catastrophic as there is currently construction and no place to pull over for emergencies. The vehicle was towed to Hubler Acura in Greenwood IN where they performed a diagnostic test and no known issues were found on their diagnostic computer. However, the issue is not happening on a computer at the dealer, the issue occurred on the interstate while traveling 70mph. I have read several message boards where the users have posted similar experiences about losing power when accelerating in their 2017 MDX. The dealerships seem to offer a transmission fluid change or a computer reset as a solution. I have previously had...
On March 20, 2022, I was on the freeway going 65 miles per hour in the fast lane and my transmission warning light came on and the car went in to Neutral and lost all power on the gas pedal and the car would not move. I could not put it in Park or it would roll backwards so I put on my hazard lights and kept my foot on the brake. I was almost rear ended several times as it was 9:30pm and no lights on the freeway in the area I was at and no place to get out and find a safe spot as my car would have rolled backwards as it would not come out of Neutral and at that spot in the freeway there is only cement walls. I was able to get the Calif. Highway Patrol to get me a tow company that could...
On multiple occasions (6 times within a week) the powertrain loses power. While traveling 60 mph in 4 lane Interstate traffic engine loses all power and accelerator ceases to respond. Passengers were at risk due to no power. Acura Dealer has not been able reproduce. Some dealers have affirmed that they've had customers with the issue but can't reproduce. The issue seems to occur more frequently after cruise control has been dis-engaged. I have spoken with another a 2018 Acura owner directly and they have experienced the same issue. It does seem the engine/powertrain resolves when the transmission is switched from "Normal" to "Sport" mode. The amount of time with loss of power seems to span about 5-10 seconds.
Vehicle has ongoing rough transmission shifting issues. It jerks between gears when accelerating at stop signs or stop lights. I have also received a letter from attorney alleging ongoing transmission issues with this model - 2017 MDX. Car has only 23k miles. I used your website to search for possible recalls and did not see any. However, I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help others or perhaps hope of others reporting same mechanical issue.
Driving East on Interstate 20/59 10 miles East of Meridian, MS November 17, 2021 around 2:00 PM. A lot of trucks on the road. Had speed control set at 69 MPH. Came up behind a semi doing about 65, pulled over to the left lane to go around him. When I got about half way all of a sudden all hell breaks loose. Vehicle goes in into emergency stop with lights flashing all over the dash. Vehicle brakes to around 30 MPH within a couple of hundred feet with semi's and cars beside and behind me. Finally got the vehicle over to the side of the rode without and accident. (A miracle inself). Code DTC P0716. After about an hour of shutdown, started engine and all messages were gone. Took it to the Acura dealer and they, evidently, updated the TCM software. I had not been notified that it needed...
The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle started to jerk back and forth. The vehicle inadvertently shifted to neutral causing the loss of motive power. The contact exited the vehicle and pushed the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Transmission goes into neutral on its own. Loses power. Delay in acceleration. Jerky gear shifting.
We were driving on the highway yesterday at 75 mph when suddenly our tachometer jumped a couple of times and then the car lost all power and switched into neutral. It's the same transmission problem others are reporting and dangerous.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ACURA MDX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE EMISSION AND PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AS THE WARNING REMAINED ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LINDSAY ACURA (5880 SCARBOROUGH BLVD, COLUMBUS, OH 43232) WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC CLEARED THE WARNING LIGHTS OFF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED SOON AFTER THE RETURN OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ACURA MDX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN EAGLE ACURA (16015 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77094) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT CABLE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
LOSES POWER AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 2 MONTHS
I OWN A 2017 ACURA MDX. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IT HESITATES FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND THEN JERKS WHEN IT FINDS ITS GEAR. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS USED. MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE OR SWITCHING LANES CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.
AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE FROM ACURA IN MARCH 2020 WITH APPROXIMATELY 49,500 MILES AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS SLIPPING AROUND 20 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. MY FIANCEE DROVE IT AS WELL AND FELT IT SLIPPING IN A CITY STOP AND GO UNDER THE SAME SPEED. WE CALLED ACURA TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SLIPPING AS WELL AS THE BATTERY MALFUNCTIONING. THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT IN AND WE DID. THE BATTERY END UP BEING DEAD A FEW WEEKS AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS CHANGED. WE THEN WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS A TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE AND THAT THIS MAYBE CAUSES THE PROBLEM. WE NOTICED WITH THE VEHICLE RECORDS THE FLUID WAS CHANGED AT 42,376 MILES PRIOR. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ENDED UP BEING CHANGED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WOULD NEED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE A LOT FOR THE SLIPPING TO GO AWAY. THOUSANDS OF MILES LATER...
VEHICLE LOST POWER UPON ACCELERATING AND I RECEIVED A MESSAGE TO PULL OVER WHEN SAFE TRANSMISSION ERROR; THIS HAPPENED AT A STOP AND SEEMS TO BE MORE LIKELY WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE OR WHILE ACCELERATING, I PULLED OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE WITH OUT SUCCESS;
MULTIPLE SYSTEMS INDICATOR FAILURES WEN ON, PER ATTACHED PICTURES. THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN THE 1ST GEAR, THE VEHICLE WAS VIBRATING AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THIS CREATED A DRIVING HAZARD, AS I WAS ON THE ROADWAY.
VEHICLE LOSES POWER UPON ACCELERATING AND HESITATES FOR A SECOND OR TWO - MOST TYPICALLY FROM A STOP AND SEEMS TO BE MORE LIKELY WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE WHILE ACCELERATING, ALTHOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT OR REPLICATE, BUT HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017.
WE WERE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE I10 HEADED TO NEW ORLEANS WHEN OUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING LOST ACCELERATION THE DASHBOARD LITE UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE TELLING ME TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND THEN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ERROR, TRANSMISSION ERROR AND AN EMISSIONS ERROR ALL AT ONCE. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT AND WE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET TO THE SMALL SIDE OF THE ROAD ON THIS BUSY INTERSTATE. IT SCARED THE BOTH US! THE MDX WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE OR NEUTRAL? WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK WE ALMOST WERE SIDE SWIPED. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR THE SAFETY FEATURES AND IT HAS REALLY CAUSED MY WIFE AND I TO LOSE ALL FAITH AND NOW CANNOT DEPEND ON IT. OUR VEHICLE HAS 44K ON IT AND IT WAS EVEN A ACURA CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED INSPECTED VEHICLE. I HAVE LEARNED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT...
THE TRANSMISSION IN THE CAR DECELERATES UNEXPECTEDLY, THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, IT ALSO JERKS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SWITCHING LANES AND SIMPLY DRIVING AND TRYING TO MANEUVER FROM A STOP. WE HAVE ALSO HAD A WARNING POP UP ON THE DASHBOARD TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET BECAUSE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY DONT SEE THE SPECIFIC CODE AND TO JUST HAVE IT TOWED IN NEXT TIME. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR SAFETY, WE JUST HAD A BABY AND NOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR ON A DAILY BASIS, WHAT IF IT DOESNT ACCELATE WHEN NEEDED AND WE GET HIT! WE HAVE BROUGHT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE UP MUTLIPLE TIMES; HOWEVER, ALL WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IS...
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 3 EPISODES OF DECELERATION WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 60 AND 75 MPH. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I DECELERATE TO SLOW WITH TRAFFIC OR CHANGE LANES TO EXIT. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR (2017 MDX) CONTINUED TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY, FOR UP TO 5 SECONDS, PUTTING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT USING CRUISE CONTROL AND HAD THE LKAS TURNED OFF. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS NOT CLOSE ENOUGH TO ANY OTHER CARE FOR THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM TO BE A FACTOR.
