Consumer Description
Vehicle has the 2.0 EcoBoost Turbo engine. The original engine produced same issues, mechanic found coolant intrusion at around 78,000 mi and replaced it for around $6,000 out of pocket in March of 2023. Logged everything with the local Ford to ensure new engine warranty stayed intact. Now the replaced engine is experiencing the same and also more concerning issues. Starting in Late January early February 2025, engine has 19,000 mi, vehicle has around 97,700 mi. Vehicle issues began with rough idling & white exhaust at cold start. Vehicle began shutting off while driving. It would never show any signs beforehand, would be driving normally, and then suddenly vehicle shut off and losses all power. Happened 5 times to me going speeds averaging from 35-75, including 3 times on a highway. Took vehicle into shop multiple times to rule out issues. Mechanic noticed a leaking gasket (commonly known issue with this engine), knowing the engine had warranty it was towed to the local Ford dealership. Dealership said the engine was experiencing coolant intrusion. However, in order to even request for an engine replacement under warranty they would have to do an engine teardown at around $5,000 in labor out of pocket. This vehicle is unpredictable and has sat undriven since February 2025. Ford is doing everything to get out of fixing their manufacturing issue & to disprove the part warranty that no one will give me a copy of. This issue is also logged on the Service Bulletin 19-2346
