NHTSA Complaint #11716631 — 2017 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While the contact’s wife was driving and depressing the brake pedal, there was resistance to the brake pedal, and excessive pressure was needed on the brake pedal to slow and stop the vehicle. After arriving to the residence, the contact attempted to test the brake pedal and while depressing the brake pedal, there was a large amount of brake fluid leaking near the rear passenger’s side wheel. There were no warning lights or alarms from the OnStar App or the instrument panel. The contact spoke with a mechanic and was advised to reach out to the manufacturer and inquire about the possibility of reimbursement if the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
