NHTSA Complaint #11652049 — 2017 FORD EDGE

The contact owns 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of Customer Satisfaction Program: 22N12. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was inspected but no repairs were performed. The contact stated that approximately 10 months later, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact heard a loud clicking sound coming from the engine compartment before the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the sound was internal in engine and a valve might be coming apart, and to take the vehicle to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with a cracked flex plate. The contact was informed that the flex plate needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 122,934.
