NHTSA Complaint #11650761 — 2017 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after having an oil change performed on the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the engine was shaking abnormally while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where a diagnostic test was performed. The diagnostic test indicated a possible engine failure. The contact was informed that due to the high volume of customers, it would be weeks before an extensive diagnostic test could be performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where an extensive diagnostic test was performed. The diagnostic test showed coolant intrusion into cylinder #1. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 66,400.
