Consumer Description

The contact's son owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver noticed that there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. No further information was provided. The vehicle was towed to United Auto Care, where the head gasket was replaced twice due to a coolant leak; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic to be diagnosed. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The dealer related the failure to TSB Number: 19-2346; however, the dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be performed due the third-party warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
