NHTSA Complaint #11684557 — 2017 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was a misfire coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the check engine warning light was reset; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, where several unknown repairs were performed, and the fuel injectors were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in the oil and in the engine. The mechanic recommended that the engine be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the repair could not be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
