NHTSA Complaint #11545771 — 2017 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle was sputtering and needed several attempts to start. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, there was white smoke coming from the exhaust. The service engine warning light illuminated, and the engine was overheating. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and had the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was notified of coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA ID Number: 10214126 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.
