LIFTGATE FAILURE DATE 5-8-2020 MILEAGE 51,300 MILES MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LIMITED, WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. THE VAN IS METICULOUSLY CARED FOR WITH ALL SERVICE DONE ON TIME AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. WHEN NOT IN USE, IT'S PARKED IN A CLIMATE-CONTROLLED GARAGE. ON OR ABOUT 2008, RECALL 80C WAS DONE AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THE LIFTGATE MALFUNCTIONED ON 5-8-2020. THE LIFTGATE FELL ABOUT TEN INCHES AFTER IT REACHED THE FULLY OPEN POSITION, AT WHICH POINT THE POWER MOTOR ENGAGED AND POWERED THE LIFTGATE TO THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION. THE DOOR CAME DOWN ON MY HEAD AND BRUISED MY SHOULDER. IF THE DOOR SWITCH IS TURNED OFF, THE DOOR WILL SLAM DOWN HARD, POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO ANYONE IN ITS PATH. I'M A FAIRLY STRONG 83-YEAR-OLD. IF THIS HAPPENED WHEN MY WIFE OR ONE OF MY GREAT GRANDCHILDREN WERE UNDER THE MALFUNCTIONING HATCH, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN...
WHILE DRIVING ON ROUTE 1, WE HEARD A "WHOOSH" SOUND. THE SUNROOF GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY FLEW OUT OF THE SUNROOF, AND THE INTERIOR SLIDE COVER POPPED UP THROUGH THE SUNROOF. WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THE GLASS WENT, AND DIDN'T HEAR A SHATTERING SOUND, SO WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT IT LANDED IN THE GRASS SOMEWHERE AND NOT IN THE ROADWAY, CAUSING INJURY TO ANYONE.
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT I BOUGHT IN 2009. I HAD TO TURN OFF MY ELECTRICAL RIGHT BACK SIDE PASSENGER DOOR BECAUSE IT SLIDES OPEN BY ITSELF WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES WITH THE PUSH BUTTON BUT DUE TO THE DOOR FLYING OPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING I HAD TO TURN THE AUTOMATIC OPTION OFF. I TAKE MY VEHICLE IN FOR ALL RECALLS BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THEM AND IF IT HASN'T IT SHOULD BE. IT JUST HAPPENS OUT OF NOWHERE AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN YOU JUST SEE THE DOOR FLY OPEN IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE KIDS AND A DOG THAT RIDES IN MY VAN ON A DAILY BASIS SO THIS PROBLEM NEEDS ATTENTION.
PASSENGER-SIDE POWERED SLIDING DOOR SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED; NO PRECEDING ODD NOISES OR OTHER TROUBLE SIGNS. THE DOOR WILL SLIDE BACKWARDS TO OPEN POSITION AND LATCH THERE AS IT SHOULD, BUT UPON BUTTON-PUSH TO CLOSE, IT ROLLS FORWARD ABOUT TWO-THIRDS OF THE WAY, THEN STOPS AND RETRACTS. SAME PROBLEM NO MATTER WHICH OF THE SEVERAL DOOR SWITCHES IS USED. WORSE: THE DOOR CANNOT BE MANUALLY PUSHED BEYOND THE MALFUNCTION POINT TO SHUT IT. I FEAR DAMAGE TO MECHANISM AND DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT BACKLASH IF I FORCE IT. OBVIOUSLY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. LUCKILY DID NOT OCCUR ON A LONG FAMILY TRIP! CAR MUST BE GARAGED OUT OF WEATHER UNTIL PROBLEM RESOLVED. HERE IS THE ISSUE I WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO CONSIDER: A MOTORIZED DOOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH A BYPASS PROCEDURE WHICH WOULD ALLOW DAMAGE-FREE MANUAL CLOSING FOR ANY AND ALL MECHANISM FAILURES. TOYOTA'S FAILURE TO PROVIDE THIS...
ON THE SLIDING DOOR WITH THE AUTOMATIC OPEN, THE CABLE SNAPPED THAT CONTROLLED TO DOOR TO OPEN AND CLOSE. NOW THAT DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE OPENED. EVEN WITH THE POWER ASSIST BUTTON TURNED OFF, THE DOOR IN NOT ABLE TO BE USED. DURING AN ACCIDENT, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THAT DOOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I WAS SHOCKED THAT THIS ISN'T A RECALLED PART AS I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES.

LYNCH TOYOTA IN MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. *TT *TR
RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING.WHEN I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED IT SLAMED SHUT WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO SEVER A LIMB.LUCKY NO ONE WAS THERE .DEALER WANTS $1300 TO REPAIR IT. I SAY IT SHOULNT BE EVEN POSSIBLE TO HAVE HAPPENED AND A REPAIR WITH THE SAME PARTS WONT PREVENT IT. ITS NOW CLOSED WITH A RATCHAT TIE DOWN.USELESS BUT SAFE
I OWN A 2006 FWD TOYOTA SIENNA. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CHECK STRAP WELD IS DEFECTIVE. THERE IS A CRACK IN THE WELD WHICH CAUSES A POPPING NOISE WHEN DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED. I ASKED TOYOTA TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY WANTED $140 JUST TO ACCESS PROBLEM. A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOWED ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY TOYOTA. TOYOTA SENT OUT EXTENDED WARRANTIES BUT I NEVER RECEIVED ONE. THEY ALSO GAVE THEIR MECHANICS A (TBS) TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (NVOO3-07) WHICH I FOUND ONLINE TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I HAVE RECEIVED ALL OTHER EXTENDED WARRANTY LETTERS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR WHICH WILL COST $470. I'M CONCERNED THE DOOR WILL BREAK OR SWING OUT UNEXPECTEDLY AND HURT SOMEONE.

HEATING SYSTEM STAYS ON EVEN WHEN TURNED OFF.STEREO TURNS OF WHEN THE HEATER HEATS UP TO LONG.MY SON WAS IN SIDE WERE THE DOOR OPENED UP WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A MAIN RD.MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING ON OPPOSITE SIDE AND SLIDING DOOR POPPED OPEN WHILE ON A MAIN RD.SIDE DOOR STARTED CLOSING WHILE GETTING GROCERIES OUT CAUSING BRUSING TO MY GIRLFRIEND.HATCH DOESN'T WORK. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.
THE REAR PASSENGER AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT WORK. IT WILL NOT WORK IN MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC MODE.
THE CABLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF OUR VAN HAS JAMMED. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED MY WIFE TO HAVE TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE DOOR OPEN IN ORDER FOR ME TO FORCE IT SHUT. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE IT CLOSED, BUT IT IS INOPERABLE IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION. SHE WAS PARKED IN PARKING LOT WHEN IT BROKE.
REAR LEFT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE CABLES HAVE SNAPPED AND IT WON'T WORK MANUALLY. PASSENGER CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN THIS SEAT. THE RIGHT HAND DOOR IS WORKING, BUT IF THESE CABLES SNAP, THERE WILL BE NO WAY TO ENTER OR EXIT THE REAR SEAT. TOYOTA IS AWARE AND HAS A "COURTESY" RECALL, BUT MY VEHICLE IS "TOO OLD".
THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER AUTO SLIDING DOOR SUDDENLY CAN'T CLOSE ( CLOSED IN HALF WAY THEN STUCK ) , WE MUST USE WIRE TIED WITH THE B BAR TO SECURE THE DOOR. IT'S VERY SHOCK WHY THIS DOOR IS MALFUNCTION WITHOUT NOTICE, MADE THE PASSENGERS IN DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. WITH A WARNING LIGHT FLASH AND DRIVING SLOWLY TO BACK HOME, THEN HAVE TOYOTA DEALER CHECK THE PROBLEMS. TOYOTA SAID THE CABLE AND MOTOR JAM TOGETHER AND JUST PASS EXTEND WARRANTY ( 9 YEARS OR 120000 MILE WHEN WHICH COMING FIRST ) I HAVE PAY FOR EXPENSIVE REPAIR ($1800.00). I WOULD SAY THE AUTO SLIDING DOOR MUST HAVE SOME METHOD TO MAKE IT CLOSE BY MANUAL TO ENSURE CUSTOMER SAFETY.
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. THERE IS A RECALL SSC-C80. THE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED BY A DEALERSHIP ON 01/09/2009. EVERYTHING HAD BEEN FINE SINCE THEN. ON 05/17/2016 I WENT TO FREMONT TOYOTA FOR ANOTHER SERVICE. THEY CHECKED MY VAN AND PERFORM THE SAME RECALL SERVICE (SSC-C80) WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME. NOW THE BACK HATCH WON'T CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY (VIA BUTTON). IT MUST BE CLOSED MANUALLY. I WENT TO FREMONT TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR FOR $$$$. I NOTICE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER (SAME) COMPLAINT (10355452) THAT THE NEW STRUTS (68905-AE015) ARE TOO STRONG FOR EXISTING HATCHBACK MOTOR. I THINK THAT THE OLD STRUTS WERE PERFECT (WAS PUT ON IN 2009) TO MATCH WITH THE EXISTING MOTOR. I EVEN ASKED THE DEALER TO REVERSE THE WORK TO PUT THE OLD STRUTS BACK AS I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE 2009 AND I NEVER ASKED...
NEITHER SLIDING DOOR OPENS. DOORS REMAIN IN CLOSED AND LOCKED POSITION. CABLE ON POWER DOOR SNAPPED DURING OPERATION (OPENING). MANUAL DOOR REFUSES TO OPEN AND REMAINS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES. BOTH DOORS FUNCTIONED PROPERLY UP UNTIL A MONTH AGO. BOTH DOORS MALFUNCTIONED WITHIN A MONTH OF ONE ANOTHER. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING THIS TIME. THE CAR HAS NOT SUSTAINED ANY BODY DAMAGE DURING OUR SEVEN YEARS OF OWNERSHIP.
RELEASE LEVER MECHANISM TO OPEN THE HOOD IS NOT FUNCTIONING. THERE IS NO TENSION OR RELEASE. THE HOOD OF THE 2006 TOYOTA MINI-VAN CE CAN'T BE OPENED. VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO WISCONSIN WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS. CORROSION, SALT MIGHT BE A FACTOR. UNABLE TO CHECK THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE OR CHANGE THE OIL, BELT, ETC. HOOD IS IN PERMANENTLY LOCKED, IN A CLOSED POSITION.
NOTICED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS A BINDING IN CLOSING ELECTRIC SIDE DOORS. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I COULD NOT CLOSE THE SLIDING DOOR. NOTICED A BROKEN CABLE. THE CABLE WAS FRAYED. IT IS ALSO FRAYED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED FREE. MY ODOMETER HAD 124,000 MILES. THE TOYOTA EXTENDED TECHNICAL WARRANTY ENDED AT 120,000. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE OTHER NIGHT I DROVE HOME IN 28 DEGREE WEATHER WITH THE SLIDING DOOR OPEN, BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. WE HAD TO BREAK THE CABLE TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED WHEN WE FINALLT GOT HOME. CHILDREN CAN FALL OUT OF OPEN SIDE DOORS ON TOYOTA VANS!! THIS IS A SERIOUS MANUFACTURING PROBLEM, AND TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE CABLES AT ANY DATE THAT THEY BREAK SO CHILDREN CAN GET IN OR OUT OF THE CAR SAFELY, AND...
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENS ONLY 30-40% AND THEN GETS STUCK. THIS IS DUE TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DOOR CABLE FAULT (MOTOR STILL WORKS). A BIG EFFORT FROM AN ADULT CAN OPEN AND CLOSE, BUT NOT POSSIBLE FROM ANY OF OUR SIX CHILDREN RIDING IN THE BACK. MY POWER DOOR STOP WORKING ON THE DRIVER BACK SIDE. I HAD TO FORCE ITS CLOSE. AND NOW I CAN'T GET IT TO OPEN BACK UP. THE BACK ROW BELT WON'T PULL DOWN. SO ITS CAN'T BE USED NOW. AND THE FUEL MILES ON THIS VAN IS VERY POOR AT 11. TOYOTA IS VERY HIGH PRICE WHEN ITS COME TO LITTLE PROBLEMS.
PASSENGER FRONT DOOR MAKES LOUD POPPING/CRACKING NOISES WHENEVER OPENED OR CLOSED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DOOR WILL FALL OFF. I FILED A NHTSA COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM IN 2014. IN 2012-2013 THE DOOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IT WAS REPAIRED BY A BODY SHOP. THEY RE-WELDED IT. THE SHOP RE-WELDED THIS - AGAIN. NOW THE DOOR HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE. MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WELD WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AT 32,00 MILES. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY COVERAGE ENHANCEMENT FOR THIS (THE "DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL," POL07-04, ISSUED 10/22/07), WHICH EXTENDS UP TO 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WELDS BECAUSE IT WAS PAST 100,00 MILES.

I RECALL RECEIVING "WARRANTY EXTENSION" LETTER IN THE PAST REGARDING SAME FROM TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION. SOME TIME IN YEAR 2013. HOWEVER I WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ISSUE. SO, I JUST FILED LETTER ALONG WITH ME OTHER WARRANTY DOCUMENTS IN VEHICLE GLOW BOX. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ALONG WITH "WARRANTY EXTENSION" LETTER. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR, AS TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER , AS WARRANTY EXTENSION IS EXPIRED. MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS A DOOR WELD FAILURE WHERE THE DOOR CHECK MOUNT CONNECTS TO THE DRIVE DOOR.
AFTER HEARING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN I OPENED MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR AN INSPECTION. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL HAD COME OFF THE DOOR. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS ON THIS VEHICLE. IT SEEMS THAT A BAD DESIGN OR POOR WELDING JOB MAY HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM. I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, EITHER BY HAVING THE CHECKER PLATE REPLACED/REWELDED OR BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE DOOR. *TR
THERE IS A STRUCTURAL PROBLEM WITH 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. THE REAR LIFTGATE STRUT STOPPED WORKING. THE TRUNK DOOR IS JUST HEAVY DEAD WEIGHT. ONE ADULT MUST LIFT AND HOLD THE TRUNK DOOR (WHICH IS QUITE HEAVY) SO THAT THE OTHER ADULT CAN ACCESS THE TRUNK -- OR AT LEAST ACCESSING THE TRUNK WITHOUT SMASHING THEIR SKULL AND/OR ARMS/HANDS/BACK. TOYOTA SAID THAT THEY HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERED THIS PART THAT EXPIRED IN 2012. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A RECALL OF THIS PART FOR 2006 TOYOTAS. HOWEVER, TOYOTA IS TELLING ME THAT MINE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE 2006 RECALL BECAUSE MINE WAS PRODUCED LATER IN 2006. ON MONDAY AUGUST 4TH, 2014 AFTER A FUNERAL, I DROVE INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE CHURCH WHERE I WAS GOING TO GATHER WITH MY FELLOW FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT LOST THEIR FAMILY MEMBER THAT DAY.. I DROVE INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE MY MINIVAN, I HAD MY HAND ON THE SHIFT CHANGE TO SHIFT MY CAR, UPON ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE SHIFTS MY CAR ACCELERATED AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING MY CAR TO GO HIT THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING OF THE CHURCH DAMAGING THE GAS TANK, AND CAUSING THE GAS TO LEAK. AT THE TIME OF THE SCENE AND ACCIDENT MY 6 YEAR OLD WAS IN HIS CARSEAT BEHIND ME AND WAS SCARED AT WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED, HE PANICKED AND TOOK OFF HIS SEAT BELT, OPENED THE DOOR, AND WENT RUNNING OUT OF THE VEHICLE.. AT THAT MOMENT TRYING TO REGROUP MYSELF TO...
THE POWER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, LEAVING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD UNSAFE. UPON INSPECTING THE DOOR, THE POWER CORD MAKING THE DOOR OPEN AND CLOSED LOOKED FRAYED AND KNOTTED AND OFF ITS TRACKS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DOOR TO COMPLETELY CLOSE WAS TO CUT THE CORD. THE DOOR NOW OPERATES MANUALLY. THEY PASSENGER SIDE CORD PLASTIC COATING LOOKS TO BE CRACKED AND COULD EVENTUALLY COULD BECOME NOT OPERABLE AS THE DRIVER SIDE. CONTACTED THE TOYOTA OF DES MOINES, THEY SAID THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CORDS AND ITS PARTS FOR 9 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES, WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. CANNOT FIX MY TOYOTA SIENNA UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 120,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS 127,000 MILES. THE PREVIOUS OWNERS DID NOT GET IT FIXED NOR HONDA OF AMES, THE DEALERSHIP...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD FRACTURED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AREA TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
ATTEMPTED TO OPEN PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR TO LET CHILDREN OUT AND WOULD NOT OPEN. WAS TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH BUT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. IT IS NOW STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V16000 (STRUCTURE) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH STRUTS FAILED TO SUSTAIN THE HATCH AND CAUSED THE HATCH TO HIT THE CONTACT'S HEAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DID NOT SUFFER INJURIES TO THE HEAD. THE DOOR HATCH WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE WARRANTED REPAIR WAS EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
SINCE 2012, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR HAS MADE A LOUD POPPING, CRACKING SOUND EVERY TIME IT IS OPENED OR CLOSED. TOYOTA DEALER INFORMED ME THE DOOR WELD IS CRACKED AND THE ENTIRE DOOR MUST BE REMOVED FOR A NEW WELD AND PAINT JOB AT A BODY SHOP. DEALER ALSO SHOWED ME A TOYOTA WARRANTY COVERAGE ENHANCEMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM (THE "DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL," POL07-04, ISSUED 10/22/07), WHICH EXTENDS UP TO 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS IN THE MAIL, AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR UNDER THE TSBS ON THE NHTSA SITE. MY VAN IS NO LONGER COVERED AT 110,000 MILES. NOTE: I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AT ONLY 32,000 MILES, WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THAT MEANS BOTH MY FRONT DOORS HAVE HAD FAILED WELDS. THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH TOYOTA SHOULD COVER, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE.

THE DOOR CHECK POCKET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BEGAN MAKING A POPPING SOUND. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE SPOT WELDS ON THE POCKET CAME UNDONE. LOOKING INTO THE MATTER, IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR TOYOTA. THEY OFFERED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT OF 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES FOR THE ISSUE. UPON CONTACTING THE COMPANY AND DISCUSSING THE ISSUE, I WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING TOYOTA IS WILLING TO DO FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE AT THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS THAT THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE AND THEY WILL NOT COMPENSATE ME FOR THIS FAILURE WHICH IS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING. *TR

TOYOTA SIENNA LE 2006. SLIDING DOOR CAN NOT BE COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS IS A MANUAL SLIDING DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR CAN NOT BE COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO. PREVIOUSLY IT WOULD CLOSE AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. BUT THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT WORK NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY. ON FEBRUARY 25, 2012, THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WOULD NOT CLOSE UNLESS I APPLIED FORCE. FOR MONTHS THIS ISSUE DID NOT RESOLVE AND BECAME WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE WE COULD NO LONGER USE THE DOOR. THIS BECAME A SAFETY ISSUE AS MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN COULD ONLY EXIT THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR INTO THE STREET SIDE. THIS PUT MY CHILDREN AND ME IN DANGER OF BEING HIT BY PASSING MOTORISTS. FURTHERMORE, IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THIS EXIT POINT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE TO US. AFTER RECEIVING THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR IN JULY 2012, BUT WERE INFORMED THE PART NEEDING REPLACEMENT, IDENTIFIED AS "R/SLIDING DOOR REAR SUPPORT LATCH AND CABLE ASSY" WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE CLEARLY STATED "REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES" AND "POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLY"...
POWER REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS HAVE FAILED. THEY WERE ORIGINALLY REPLACED UNDER THE 2008 RECALL (THEY WEREN'T DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME); HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOW FAILED. THE DOOR CLOSES HARD ON YOU IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT AND IT'S NOT EASY TO PROP IT OPEN OR KEEP IT OPEN WITHOUT POTENTIALLY INJURING YOURSELF. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISENGAGE OR OTHERWISE PROP OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY. *TR

BOTH SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK IS OFF AND STILL THEY WILL NOT OPEN. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO LOCK. THE "DOOR OPEN" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD REMAINED LIT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH IDENTIFIED FAULTY REAR LATCH AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF REPAIR COST OF $526. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR COST WHICH THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SINCE THE FAULTY LATCH MECHANISM IS NOT A RESULT OF USAGE OF THE VEHICLE, RATHER IT IS PROBABLY DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL OF THIS FAULTY LATCH MECHANISM. *TR
THE DASH START CRACKING UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THE CAR IS MOSTLY PARK INSIDE A GARAGE DAY AND NIGHT. I HAVE CALLED DEALERS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT'S A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND IT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY DEALER. THE TRANSMISSION SOME TIMES DOES NOT CHANGE THE GEARS AND OTHERS STOP TO WORK AND I COULD CAUSE A REAR END COLLISION. *TR
