2009 TOYOTA CAMRY Engine Problems

The contact was informed that the check oil warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where an oil consumption test was performed. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was adding several quarts of oil every 1,000 miles driven. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the Extended Warranty had been exceeded. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

The engine burned excessive oil and finally the rings and head gasket failed causing the engine to misfire and finally break down at 186,000 miles.

I brought my car in for a tune up. The day I was driving my car I had the right amount of oil in it. I was driving my car, heard a loud noise and the steering went, the brakes went, nothing worked and than the car shut down and stopped. I brought it to my mechanic, and there was no oil in the car and they went through the whole engine and there was no leaks. Toyota had a recall for engine oil consumption, and I never received a notice yet my year, make and model are part of the "Warrenty Enhancment Program". Now I have a non working car and they are refusing to fix the issue.

Toyota was supposed to replace parts on the affected Toyota Camrys for vehicles exhibiting excessive engine oil consumption. ON SHIFTING TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE RUBBING/GRINDING NOISE BEGINS AGAIN. HAVE BEEN RESTRAINED TO SITTING AT HOME INSTEAD OF DOING MY RIDE SHARING AND DELIVERY WORK. RECENTLY HAD THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAM SHAFT GEAR REPLACED.

THIS CAR BURNS ABOUT TWO QUARTS OF MOTOR OIL IN JUST ONE WEEK. SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS CAR SEVERAL YEARS AGO IT'S BEEN BURNING OIL MORE THAN IT SHOULD. THERE AREN'T ANY LEAKS. IT'S JUST BURNS IT.

THIS CAR HAS OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. IT BURN 1.5 QUARTS EVERY 1000 MILE. THE OIL HAS TO BE CONSTANTLY CHANGED. THE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS CAR, BUT FOR TOYOTA TO FIX THIS ISSUE; THE VEHICLE HAS TO MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENT DEPENDING ON THE YEAR OF THE CAR AND THE MILEAGE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM IN 2017 AND I REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT.

LUCKILY FOR ME, THERE WAS A FORMER TOYOTA SERVICE TECHNICIAN WORKING THERE WHO RECALLED AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE IMPACTING SOME TOYOTA BRANDS. THEY DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND SOME INFORMATION ONLINE REGARDING A POTENTIAL RECALL OF THE IMPACTED VEHICLES. I WASN'T AWARE OF ANY TYPE OF ISSUE WITH MY CAR'S ENGINE OR A RECALL IN WHICH I COULD HAVE IT REMEDIED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I WAS HEARING OF THE ISSUE.
