BURNING OIL TOO FAST
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXTREME FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AS THE RPMS INCREASED. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, BUT WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THIS 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY, LE MODEL COMSUME TOO MUCH OIL EVERY 2000 MILES, THE OIL LIGHT TURN AFTER 2000 MILES, THIS START HAPPEND IN 2018,MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT'S A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM FROM TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 TO 2009,
ENGINE PISTON OIL CONTROL RINGS IMPROPERLY RETRIEVING OIL IN USE. THE PISTONS AREN'T PROPERLY TREATING THE OIL SO I HAVE TO REFILL NEW OIL MULTIPLE TIMES A MONTH. IT FALLS UNDER THE MODEL AND YEAR THAT TOYOTA WAS DOING RECALLS FOR THE MODEL IN QUESTION. I WONDER IF THIS ISSUE CAN STILL BE FIXED! THE PISTONS NEED TO BE REPLACED! THE ENGINE WORKS REALLY WELL OTHER THAN BURNING OIL LIKE A FRYING PAN. (OIL & ENGINE TEMPERATURES REMAIN NORMAL (TESTED) BUT THE OIL CONTINUES TO DISAPPEAR. NO LEAKS.
I WAS NOT TOLD BY EITHER TOYOTA OR TOYOTA OF TAMPA BAY THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK PROBLEM. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF A BURNING SMELL, I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK AFTER DRIVING FOR A 1,000 MILES. I DIDN'T - MY ERROR, BUT I WASN'T TOLD THERE WAS A WARRENTY OR ANY KIND OF MAJOR ISSUE. WHEN I DID GO BACK, THEY RAN THE TEST AGAIN, TELLING ME I'D GET A NEW ENGINE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM. WHEN I DID COME BACK, THE STORY CHANGED TO A REBUILD ENGINE. THEN, WHEN THE SERVICE REP CAME TO TELL ME THE ISSUE, HE SAID MY CAR HAD THE ISSUE, BUT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. MY CAR, A 2009, HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT.
THIS TOYOTA CAMRY ENGINE HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM OF CONSUMING MORE OIL. TOYOTA NEVER CONVEYED OR SENT ANY LETTER TO ME REGARDING THIS ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA CARE AFTER LOOKING AT INTERNET POSTS, TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS AND BEYOND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS NEVER CONVEYED REGARDING THIS PROBLEM SO THAT I CAN TAKE MY CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER INSTEAD OF MY REGULAR MECHANIC SHOP. TOYOTA TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE YOU DID NOT BRING YOUR CALL TO DEALER YOU DID NOT COME TO KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. MY STAND IS THAT I SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO GO TO DEALER FOR REGULAR REPAIR, ANY KNOWN MAJOR ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONVEYED TO ME VIA PROPER COMMUNICATIONS LIKE OTHER RECALLS. MY CAR IS JUST 10 YEARS 6 MONTHS OLD AND TOYOTA IS NOT...
TIMING CHAIN BROKE WITHOUT A Y WARNING, CAUSED MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED FOR SCRAP. TOYOTA WAS UNABLE TO FIX IT WITHOUT COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT.
THE ENGINE OF MY CAR HAS BEEN BURNING THROUGH OIL SO FAST. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT IS ON SO I TOOK IT TO THE AUTO SHOP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THE EMPLOYEE THERE TOLD ME TO CONTACT TOYOTA SINCE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2009 CAMRY ENGINE. I CALLED TOYOTA PLACE IN GARDEN GROVE AND THE PERSON I SPOKE TO SAID THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO HELP ME SINCE RECALL HAS BEEN EXPIRED AND TO CALL HEADQUARTERS. HOWEVER, I INFORMED HER THAT I NEVER GOT A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS RECALL. I ALSO INFORMED HER THAT I TOOK MY CAMRY 2009 INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY 2018 TO GET THE DASHBOARD REPLACED FROM ANOTHER RECALL BUT NO ONE INFORMED ME ABOUT THE ENGINE RECALL DURING THAT TIME EITHER. TOYOTA HAD FAILED TO NOTIFY ME TWICE. TOYOTA FAILED TO SEND ME A NOTICE ABOUT THE ENGINE RECALL...
ORIGINAL OWNER OF 2009 CAMRY WITH 84K MILES BURNED THROUGH SO MUCH OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVER 3 QTS LOW, RESTORED OIL LEVEL DID NOT ELIMINATE NOISES ASSESSED TO BE ROD SLAP DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. I NOW EXPECT THE ENGINE TO DIE AT ANY TIME WITH THROWN ROD.
THE CAR HAS BURNED OIL FROM DAY ONE. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT ENOUGH TO HOLD MOTOR BACK PROPERLY GOING DOWN AN INCLINE. IT WON'T HOLD BACK BY TRANSMISSION EVEN IF YOU DOWN SHIFT YOUR SELF.
IT CONSUME TOO MUCH ENGINE OIL. I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY OTHER DAY. AFTER 1000 MILES IT BECOMES DRY . I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, HE SAID ALL THE TOYOTA CAMRY 2009 HAVE THIS ISSUE, THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
BOUGHT A USED 09 CAMRY. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE UNTIL 2 MONTHS AFTER DRIVING THE CAR WE NOTICED IT WAS BURNING THROUGH OIL, 2.5+ QTS PER 1000 MILES. DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND FAILED ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY (PAST THE 10 YR MARK). I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY'D EVEN PERFORM THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST KNOWING THEY COULDN'T HELP IF IT INDEED FAILED BECAUSE ALTHOUGH IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS "WARRANTY PROTOCOL" BEFORE ANY REPAIRS ARE MADE... I CALLED THE HEADQUARTERS OFFICE AND SPOKE TO 2 REPS WHO BOTH DOCUMENTED MY ISSUE AND SAID, "WE'LL FORWARD YOUR COMPLAINT TO OUR MANAGER AND CREATE A CASE... I HONESTLY BELIEVE WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS", ONLY TO HEAR BACK FROM THE MANAGER WHO LEAD ME ON DURING THE CALL BY SAYING, "IT'S OUR JOB...

THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF LANCASTER, 43301 12TH ST W, LANCASTER, CA 93534, (661) 948-0731) ADVISED THE CONTACT TO WAIT A MONTH AND OBSERVE IF THERE WAS WHITE OR BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE, WHICH COULD SIGNAL A FAILURE WITH THE PISTON SEALS. THE CONTACT TRIED USING THICK SYNTHETIC OIL, BUT THE OIL LEVEL FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
WAS TOLD THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS LEAKING, WHICH IT WAS , HAD IT REPAIRED. I HAD IT REPLACED RECENTLY AGAIN AS THE FIRST REPAIR SHOP DID IT INCORRECTLY. CAR IS STILL USING ABOUT A HALF A QUART OF OIL EVERY 700 MILES. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE LEAKS. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT ALL OVER FOR LEAKS (RESULTED IN GASKET REPLACEMENT), NO OTHER LEAKS DETECTED. THE CAR NOW HAS OVER 175,000 MILES AND IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING TOYOTA WILL NOT COVER IT AS IT IS OVER THE 150K LIMIT. IT RUNS NORMALLY, NO LOSS OF POWER, DOES NOT KNOCK OR PING. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS WILL GET WORSE OVER TIME . I ALWAYS THOUGHT I HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN THE WAY OF RELIABILITY AS A TOYOTA OWNER. I HAVE MY DOUBTS AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINT SITES AND SEE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL...

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OIL DIP STICK WAS LOW. ONCE OIL WAS ADDED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE OIL WAS LAST CHANGED ON AUGUST 13, 2018. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER SUNRISE TOYOTA (3984 SUNRISE HWY, OAKDALE, NY) WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
HIGHLY EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION THAT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME NOW UP TO 2 QUARTS IN 1,200 MILES! TOYOTA DENIES THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WHICH THEY MUST KNOW IS A LIE!!!
ENGINE FAILED WHILE DRIVING. MY ENGINE WAS REBUILT (4 PISTONS, RINGS AND ALL ASSOCIATED PARTS) BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE, LESS THAN 25,000 MILES LATER MY ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH NO INDICATIONS (NO LIGHTS, NO SMOKE)AT ABOUT 154,000 MILES. 4,000 OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. WHILE DRIVING THE VSC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TEMPERATURE GAGE WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN, WHEN I TRIED TO BREAK TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK NOR DID THE GAS. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER AND LET THE VEHICLE SLOW DOWN NATURALLY UNTIL I POPPED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER OVERHEATED. SERVICE REP SAID I LOST COMPRESSION DUE TO A PRESSURE BUILDING UP IN MY ENGINE, CAUSING THE HEAD GASKET AND RADIATOR TO BLOW. SERVICE REP SAID THEIR IS ALSO A BAD PISTON. TOYOTA SERVICE...
ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION
ENGINE SEIZED WHEN DRIVING. CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO TOLD ME THE DAMAGE WAS LIKELY RELATED TO AN ISSUE INVOLVING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO HELP.
THE CARE IS BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. SO MUCH SO THAT THE ENGINE CAN FAIL AND SHUT DOWN DURING NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURES THIS IS DANGEROUS, TO ME, MY FAMILY AND EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUES AND HASN'T RECALLED THE CARS TO BE FIXED. TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY WRECKS OR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE KNOW ISSUE AND SHOULD VOLUNTARY FIX ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE. .

OIL BURNING CONSUMPTION, MY VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY BURNING OIL AND WHEN I WENT TO THE TOYOTA OF ORLANDO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE THEY ADVISED MY VEHICLE HAD PASSED THE TEST, SO DUE TO THEM STATING THIS THEY DID NOT REPAIR MY VEHICLE , SINCE THEN I HAVE REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA AND THEY TOO, ARE FAILING TO DO ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AS NOW MY VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILLAGE , BUT WHEN I ORIGINALLY WENT AND GOT THE TEST DONE IT WAS UNDER THE MILLAGE FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO KEEP PUTTING OIL IN MY VEHICLE AND I DON'T THINK THAT IS FAIR TO ME AS THEY FAILED TO DO THE REPAIR.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN AUGUST OF 2017 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V689000 (VISIBILITY) AT AN UNKNOWN LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THE SAME UNKNOWN TOYOTA DEALER WAS CALLED AND MADE AWARE OF THE RECENT FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
THE CAR IS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. 4-6 QUARTS BETWEEN 3000 MILE OIL CHANGES! THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN INCREASINGLY WORSE SINCE NOTICING AN INCREASE IN CONSUMPTION STARTING AROUND 2016. ONLY AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR A FIX WAS I MADE AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN BY TOYOTA. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY BULLETINS OR RECALLS FROM TOYOTA AS THEY HAVE CLAIMED. I HOPE THEY WILL PROVIDE SOME TYPE OF HELP IN REPAIRING THIS ISSUE AS IT IS VERY COSTLY TO MAINTAIN, MUCH LESS REPAIR. VERY DISAPPOINTING FROM A SEEMINGLY RELIABLE MANUFACTURER THAT CLAIMS TO BUILD DEPENDABLE VEHICLES.

RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED THAT AS I AM APPLYING THE BRAKE OR TAKING A CURVE MY OIL LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THERE IS AN ISSUE OF OIL CONSUMPTION THAT IS KNOWN. MY CAR AVERAGES USING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 800-1200 MILES. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AT ALL.
ONE OR MORE OF THE THREADS THAT RECEIVE THE HEAD BOLTS ARE STRIPPED, WHICH CAUSED A LEAKING HEAD GASKET AND COOLANT IS ENTERING THE CYLINDERS. WHEN STARTING/STOPPING, YOU CAN HEAR THE COOLANT SLOSHING AROUND. THE CABIN HEAT GOES AWAY AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS. THE MECHANIC SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THAT ENGINE. THE HEAD BOLTS ARE STEEL AND THE RECEIVING THREADS ARE ALUMINUM. REPAIR OPTIONS ARE TO PUT STEEL INSERTS INTO THE ALUMINUM OR REPLACE THE ENGINE. BOTH OPTIONS ARE ABOUT THE SAME IN LABOR COSTS, BUT IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO GO WITH REPLACING THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE INSERTS WOULD ARE LIKELY TO WORK LOOSE IN A FEW YEARS. REPLACING THE WITH A REFURBISHED ENGINE WILL COST ABOUT $5500. ENGINEERING 101...FOR A CRITICAL JOINT THAT IS SUBJECT TO VIBRATION AND HEAT/COOLING CYCLES, NEVER THREAD INTO ALUMINUM!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (HARR TOYOTA, 100 GOLD STAR BLVD, WORCESTER, MA 01606) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REMEDIED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) YEARS AGO. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
THIS CAMRY IS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL, AT THE RATE OF ABOUT ONE QT EVERY 400 MILES.
ENGINE OPERATES WITH EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. CONSUMES/LOSES 1 QUART OF OIL IN 700 MILES AS OF THIS FILING DATE. I WENT TO TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER AT 12/2011 AT 82,700 MILES AND THEY SAID NO PROBLEM - 1 QUART USAGE PER 1000 MILES IS NORMAL. ALSO, DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING AT 45,000 MILES OR SO.
I NOTICED RECENTLY THAT I WAS HAVING TO ADD OIL BETWEEN 3K OIL CHANGE. SINCE THEN I HABE DISCOVERED ONLINE THE TSB 0094-11. I RAN A CK ON THE ODOMETER AFTER ADDING OIL AND YES IT IS RIGHT AT 1200 MILES. THAT WOULD MEAN 2QTS OF OIL ADDED BETWEEN 3000 MI. OIL CHANGE.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHEN COMING TO A STOP BY CAR WILL SHUT OFF. THE CAR WHEN SITTING HAS A ROUGH IDLE (400-500 RPM) WITH ALL HEAT/AC ETC TURNED OFF BUT CAN VARY AT TIMES OF AN IDLE OF 700-900RPM NOTABLY WHEN A/C IS ON IT DRAGS THE RPMS DOWN TO 300-400 AND WILL SHUDDER AT A STOP. THERE'S NO CODES ON DIAGNOSTICS, NO NOISES OR LACK OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. MAY BE WORTH MENTIONING THIS VEHICLE "PASSED' THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION BUT I AM STILL ADDING A QT OF OIL EVERY 1200-1800 MILES. A SEARCH OF THE WEB SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE BUT NO RESOLUTION. HELP?
VEHICLE CONSUMES 1 QUART OF OIL EACH 1,200 MILES WHILE DRIVING IN CITY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE BURNED OIL RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAPLEWOOD TOYOTA (2873 MAPLEWOOD DR, MAPLEWOOD, MN 55109 (651) 482-1322) PRIOR TO THE FAILURE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED THE GASKET AND PISTONS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE UNDER TOYOTA'S WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE HAVING A SALVAGE TITLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AFTER THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR OIL CONSUMPTION, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY RECALL. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS A SALVAGE TITLE, TOYOTA STATED THAT IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR WARRANTY ENHANCEMENTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.
MY CAR HAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAD TO PUT A QUART OF OIL IN AFTER DRIVING 150 MILES! ALSO ONE OF THE SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK DOES NOT HAVE ANY GIVE, ITS TIGHT, SNAPS BACK TOO QUICKLY.
I BOUGHT 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY FROM USED DEALER IN FEB 2016. I HAD SOME OTHER ISSUES BUT NOT LOSING ENGINE OIL. ON AUGUST 21ST TOOK THE CAR FOR OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE ADVISER ASKED IF MY CAR LOSE OIL. I SAID NO. THEN SAID WELL IF YOU DO LOSE OIL THEN BRING BACK AND WE WILL FIX FREE OF CHARGE. WITHIN FEW DAYS ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT SHOWED UP, TOOK TO THE SAME DEALER AND HE SAID DON'T WORRY IT WILL BE FIXED FREE. AFTER 3 WEEKS NO RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA, CALLED THEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY CANT REPAIR IT FREE AS ENGINE IS NOT ORIGINAL ON THE CAR. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY IS PART OF THE ZE7- WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CAR DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE UNTIL LATE NOVEMBER AND WHEN THE CAR WAS AT 142,500 MILES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS ADVISED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD BE UNDER 150,000 WHEN THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS INITIATED IT STILL MET THE SERVICE GUIDELINES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INITIATE THE TEST WITH THE CAR STILL UNDER 150,000 MILES. DESPITE THE DEALER DID THE REPAIRS, THE OIL EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION STILL PRESENT. THE CAR HAS DIMINISHED VALUE DUE TO THIS KNOWN ISSUE AND I HAVE TO EITHER COVER THE REPAIR COST OR DEAL WITH THE ISSUE WHICH INCLUDES CONSTANTLY CHECKING MY OIL TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T\'T RUN OUT AND COMPLETELY KILL THE ENGINE. 2 COMPLAINTS: 1. WHEN I DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL. IT SOMETIMES GET STUCK WHERE I HAVE TO PRESS EVEN HARDER AND THEN THE FRONT WHEELS START SPINNING TOO RAPIDLY. ONE TIME AT A SCHOOL CROSS WALK, THE PEDAL STUCK, I PUSHED HARDER AND FINALLY THE WHEELS ENGAGED BUT THE SCREECHING IT MADE, HAD THE SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD GIVING ME A "DIRTY" LOOK. 2. THE CAMRY IS GOING THROUGH OIL LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE. WITHIN 5000 MILES I HAVE HAD TO ADD MORE THAN 4 QUARTS OF OIL. IT IS RIDICULOUS.

THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2009 CAMRY LE STARTED GOING THROUGH A QUART OF 5-20 SYNTHETIC OIL PER 1000 MILES. THE CAR IS EXCELLENTLY MAINTAINED AND THE OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY SINCE PURCHASE. THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AT 158,000 MILES (SEPT 2017). NICHOLE AT WOLFCHASE TOYOTA, GERMANTOWN, TN SAID THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT CONDUCT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST NOR FIX THE PROBLEM IF PROVEN IF THE CAR IS OLDER THAN 10 YEARS OR OVER 150,000 MILES.
THE CAR IS CONSUMING OIL MORE THAN NORMAL. TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. ISSUE WAS NEVER NOTIFIED TO ME VIA MAIL OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF COMMUNICATION.

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM AS IDENTIFIED BY TOYOTA. I AM ORIGINAL OWNER AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. I AM NOW OVER MILEAGE LIMIT BY 10K MILES. TOYOTA IS ONLY OFFERING ME $500 TOWARD A $3000 - 4000 REPAIR.
