The contact owns a 2005 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the brake lights had remained illuminated after braking. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control). The VIN was included but had already been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.
My steering wheel started twitching and there's Minimal steering. While driving down the road, the steering wheel twitches with lots of slack and no really control. When you turn the car off and back on power steering comes on in message center on radio and car with wrench on dash comes on and steering wheel gets extremely hard to turn. But if you turn the car on and off again then steering wheel gets loose and twitchy again with no control. Electrical, all my relays and curcuits Have low voltage or high voltage showing on a computer scanner.
A few months ago, I was pulling out of a parking lot and started to brake , but my car was not stopping. I quickly pumped my brakes and then my brakes worked. All my brake lights came on; ABS, BRAKE, TC, Check engine; and car maintenance light all came on. They periodically would go away but would return when it rained, or if the brakes gave out. Brakes have gone out twice, once while driving on freeway. Before this issue, I had taken it to a mechanic as the brake light was on, and the ‘brake fluid’ message was on my dash- the mechanic scanned it and said the BCM was malfunctioning, to take it to the dealership. MY CAR BE DRIVING FINE THEN I HEAR A DINGY SONG LIKE DOORS OPEN AND SHORTLY AFTER MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I AM UNABLE TO STEER MY CAR. I TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IT AMD MOST TIME THE STEERING LOOSENS UP AMD SOMETIMES IT'S GOOD FOR A COUPLE BLOCKS AND SOMETIMES IT LOCKS UP IMMEDIATELY. IT'S THE EPS THAT KEEPS GOING OFF. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS HAPPENS ANYTIME ALMOST GOT REAREND BECAUSE OF IT.
MY PONTIAC HAS HAD A LEAK FOR 6 YRS BASICALLY SINCE I HAD IT AND BEFORE THAT. I DIDN'T THINK NOTHING OF THIS BUT AFTER A WHILE OF THE SUNROOF LEAK IT CAUSES CORROSION ON THE ELECTRICAL TERMINALS IN THE WIRE HARNESS INSIDE THE DASH ON DRIVER DOOR SIDE. THIS CORROSION CAUSE YOUR CAR TO THROW PCM/TAC CODES : P0601,P0606,O0107. CAUSES CAR TO COMPLETE STALL OUT AND GO INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY UNSAFE. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THERE IS A FEW HUNDRED PEOPLE WHO POSTED ON SITES TRYING TO FIX THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS NHTSA TO REPORT RECALLS.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING HARD WHEN PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE REVERSE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF MY WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING ONLY PASSENGER WINDOW WORKS THE CAR IS STATIONARY WHEN PUTTING IT IN GEAR. *TR

POWER STEERING STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS. THEY CAME BACK INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN LEFT AGAIN. VERY VERY DANGEROUS! IT IS NOT WORKING AT ALL NOW.
'TAKATA RECALL' MY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS MESSED UP IN MY CAR
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING WHICH CAUSED ME TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING . I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 1YEAR
UPON ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLES STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND ALL ELECTRICAL BEGINS TO FLICKER AND SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL JERK FROM DRIVERS HANDS AND SEIZE UP UNLESS ACCELERATION STOPS. INFREQUENT ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL AND DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK EVEN AFTER BULB REPLACEMENT.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND MAKING A LEFT TURN THE STEERING GAVE OUT THEN THE CENSOR CAME ON I ALMOST CRASHED! VERY SCARY. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LOOSE. AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP I NOTICED IT BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP SIGN. ALSO I BOUGHT 2 REMOTES ALREADY FOR THE VEHICLE AND NEITHER WOULD WORK OR REGISTER. AND ALSO EVERY TIME I OPEN MY CAR DOOR WITH THE KEY THE ALARM GOES OFF WHICH IS VERY EMBARRASSING AS I HAVE TO SIT THERE UNTIL IT STOPS.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND APPROACHING HER EXIT, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND COMPLETELY LOCKED ON MY CLIENT'S CAR. THIS IS A DOWNHILL EXIT RAMP OFF THE HIGHWAY. HER CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO STEER HER CAR LEFT TO FOLLOW THE CURVATURE OF THE EXIT RAMP. AS A RESULT THE CAR VEERED OFF THE EXIT RAMP, STRUCK A POLE AND BEGAN TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPIN DOWN INTO THE EMBANKMENT AND CAME TO REST AFTER LANDING ON ITS SIDE. THE CAR STOPPED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEELS AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO ROLL OVER. THE CAR EVENTUALLY FELL DOWN ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AND WAS FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING BUT PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WERE NOT MADE AVAILABLE TO MY CLIENT.
I WAS DRIVING IN A AREA AT 35 ZONE THEN IT GOES TO 55. I ACCELERATED AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WENT TO LIKE I JUST STARTED THE CAR AND IT FELT LIKE I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING HOME MY ALARM SYSTEM LIGHT BLINKED ON THEN STAYED ON. THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF AND TURNED ON. AFTER I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START FOR 45 MINS. I FOLLOWED ALL RESET PROCEDURES NOTHING WORKED. HAD TO DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT ALARM. NOW ALARM WILL NOT WORK AND THE TRUNK/DOORS OPEN OR UNLOCK RANDOMLY, RADIO TURNS OFF, LIGHTS TURN OFF. PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW NOONE IN TOWN KNOWS HOW TO FIX. *TR

LET SIT FOR ABOUT 5-8 MINUTES (AFTER IT TRIED TO START ITSELF ABOUT 5 TIMES) - I COULD START THE CAR 3- CAME OUT OF THE STORE AND IT WAS ONCE AGAIN, COMPLETELY DEAD WHERE NOTHING WORK (COULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS EVEN). I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. AS IT HAS BEEN REVEALED IN A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V036000) THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY -- THEY TURN ON WHEN I AM NOT HITTING THE BRAKES AND TURN OFF WHEN I DO HIT THE BRAKES. IN JULY 2009 I THOUGHT I HAD THE ISSUE FIXED WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A GM DEALER TO BE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. HOWEVER, DESPITE THE VEHICLE BEING FIXED UNDER THE RECALL THE BRAKE LIGHTS STILL DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. "POWER STEERING" FLASHED ON THE RADIO WITH A CHIME THEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. MY WIFE ALMOST HIT THE NEIGHBORS DAUGHTER ON A BICYCLE JUST COMING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY TO TURN ONTO THE STREET. DUE TO MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE (159,000), GM STATES THAT IT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE WARRANTY THEREFORE NOT COVERING THE COST OF REPAIR. I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE LAST MIGHT IN 2005 PONTIAC G6 GT. I NOTICED HER BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, HER BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD TO FOLLOW HER IN HER CAR, I DO NOT NOW HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. SHE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, IT IS A ONE OWNER SO I KNOW NO ONE HAS MESSED WITH ANY OF THE PARTS/WIRES. I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NOTICED THERE WERE SEVERAL PAGES ON THIS SITUATION. ALSO, THAT THERE WERE RECALLS IN THE PAST. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT A RECALL. IS THIS SOMETHING THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD FIX OR ARE WE STUCK TRYING TO FIX THIS ISSUE? *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2005 PONTIAC G6 DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. AT TIMES, THEY WILL TURN ON WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND THEY WILL ALSO JUST COME ON RANDOMLY. NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THEY DON'T COME ON AT ALL. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY BRAKE SENSOR. THEY REPLACED IT, I PAID MY EXTREMELY HIGH BILL AND THEN THE NEXT DAY I GOT PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO BRING MY CAR BACK IN. I TOOK MY CAR BACK AND THEY SAID THERE WAS CORROSION IN THE BRAKE LINES. THEY FIXED THAT, I PAID MY EXTREMELY HIGH BILL AND LEFT. A FEW DAYS LATER, MY BRAKE LIGHTS STILL DID NOT WORK. I EVEN TOOK MY G6 IN FOR...
AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SALES STAFF AND WAS TOLD THAT, DUE TO THE PRICE I WAS PAYING, THERE WAS "NO ROOM LEFT TO REPAIR SOMETHING NOT SAFETY RELATED". THIS WAS AGREEABLE TO ME, SO I LEFT IT AT THAT. I DROVE THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS WITH NO OTHER APPARENT ISSUES. SOME TIME LATER I FOLLOWED MY WIFE IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE WHILE SHE DROVE THE PONTIAC. I WITNESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON DURING TIMES WHEN THE LIGHTS SHOULD NOT BE ON. PULLING UP TO A STOP, I WITNESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT. BASICALLY, THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING APPLIED, AND GO OUT WHEN THE PEDAL IS BEING APPLIED. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS...
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CARS CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED, AND COULD NOT BE SET AGAIN. WHEN I GOT HOME I WALKED AROUND MY CAR WITH THE CAR RUNNING AND NOTICED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED WITH NO DRIVER PRESENT IN THE CAR. IN APRIL 2013, WHILE DRIVING THE 2005 PONTIAC G6, THE WHEEL BEGAN "JERKING" AROUND, AND IT BECAME HARDER TO CONTROL AND STEER THE VEHICLE. A CHIME, AND WARNING LIGHT APPEARED "POWER STEERING". AFTER VEERING OFF TO THE SHOULDER AND AND RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE PROBLEM DID NOT REAPPEAR. AFTER THE SECOND RE-START, THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED AND WAS INCREASED- INCREASED STRENGTH TO STEER, WARNING LIGHT ON. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT LOCALLY OWNED SHOP, IT WAS LEARNED THAT PONTIAC WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, AND HAD ISSUED A SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THE PROBLEM. AFTER TAKING IT TO A PONTIAC CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP, THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, AT MY COST OF $780.00, DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY MILEAGE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE SPECIAL COVERAGE PERIMETERS. I WAS ISSED A LETTER OUTLINING THE PROBLEM,AND SPECIAL COVERAGE PERIMETERS IN JUNE 2012, AT WHICH TIME I WAS WELL WITHIN THE MILEAGE AND YEAR...
THE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, OR THE LAMPS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 PONTIAC G6, THE BRAKE LAMPS GO OFF WHEN I ACTUALLY PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THEY WILL STAY ON OR SOMETIMES FLASH AT RANDOM TIMES THE ENTIRE TIME I DRIVE. IT IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND IT IS RELATED TO CORROSION ON THE BCM. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO ME IN THIS CAR. PONTIAC HAS NEVER ISSUED A RECALL, THEIR WAY OF FIXING IT IS PUTTING DIELECTRIC GREASE ON THE CONNECTORS AND CALLING IT GOOD. IT WORKED FOR ME FOR ABOUT A YEAR, AND THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED....WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH. FAULTY BRAKE LAMPS ARE AN EXTREME DANGER TO ANYONE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE ISSUES STARTED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL UNEXPECTEDLY DISENGAGING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS NOW PROGRESSED TO IT THE CRUISE CONTROL COMES ON WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE. THAT WAS ALMOST A YEAR AGO. NOW, THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTS WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. HOWEVER, WHEN IT COMES ON WITH THE BRAKE IT STAYS ON APPROXIMATELY 11-12 SECONDS AND THE DISENGAGES. THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING PRESSED. WHEN, THE BRAKES ARE BEING PRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ALWAYS COME ON. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE SPRING OF 2012.I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICULAR TO GMC BEFORE AND I WAS TOLD THEIR WERE NO RECALLS AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF MY PROBLEMS BEFORE. BUT, IF I PAY THERE DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT THEY CAN REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT IT WOULD BE A COSTLY REPAIR....
MY ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS HAPPENED ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT RECENTLY. IT ALSO MAKES MY CAR SHAKE AND MAKE CLUNKING NOISES. IT IS IN THE REPAIR SHOP NOW, BUT BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL, I AM EXPECTED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH I AM REFUSING TO DO. WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND THE ABSOLUTE DANGER OF THIS PROBLEM, IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THIS CAR IS NOT RECALLED AND COVERED BY PONTIAC. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A ROAD IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND REALIZED MY CAR BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED ACROSS MY DASH AND RADIO STATING "POWER STEERING". I STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A DRIVEWAY AND TURN OFF MY CAR TO RESET IT.
