Technical Incident Report: Electrical Component Failure Reference: Technical Service Bulletin NTB19-004 Part Number: 873D6-5AA6A (Control Unit/Actuator) Incident Overview On 2/16/26, the vehicle was being operated by the primary driver when a suspected electrical failure occurred. Upon subsequent inspection, the 873D6-5AA6A control unit and its associated wiring harness were found to be severely compromised by thermal damage. Detailed Observations: Thermal Damage: The control unit housing showed significant melting. Residual smoke was present during the inspection, indicating a high-temperature event caused by a short circuit or component failure. Harness Integrity: The wiring harness insulation was melted and charred. Due to the extreme heat, the plastic connector had become brittle and lost all structural integrity. Component Failure: During the attempt to disconnect the unit for safety inspection, the connector shattered, leaving the internal wiring of the harness exposed. Documentation: High-resolution photographs have been captured to document the state of the melted housing, the...
MY TRUCK AIR CONDITION STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK IT TO NISSAN AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WIRE HARNESS HAD GONE BAD. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO CATCH FIRE WHILE DRIVING, STALL AND POSSIBLY THE HEAD LIGHTS DIM WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THR DIM LIGHTS AND STALLING. I FEEL THESE ARE SAFETY ISSUES. IT HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE MANUFACTER, POLICE OR INSURANCE. I CURRENTLY HAVE NO CHECK ENGIN LIGHTS ON SO THERE WAS NO WARNING.
Rear lift-gate failed to latch. Paid for assessment and repair in August 2024. I was told it could occur again that there is hatch issue with this vehicle. Eight months later, the rear lift-gate failed to latch again. I took it back to the dealership. While driving, it is unsafe as the warning lights are flashing on the dash and an alarm is screeching for the entirety of the trip. You cannot safely drive a vehicle when the door will not latch. After inspection of the vehicle, they advised to repair the lock assembly($770) though $180 was paid at first assessment . I was told this may not be the final solution to the problem. This time there was no discussion of the hatch issue with this vehicle. Hmmm, there is an online forum for other Nissan owners with the same problem. I never received any warning lamps prior to...
The seat heating function on my vehicle failed due to electrical components becoming so hot that they melted the control module connector. The issue has been reviewed and confirmed by a Nissan dealership's service department. The service manager stated that he and his team would not plug the control module connector back in without my express direction because they considered it a fire hazard and a safety risk. There was no warning of this failure; the component simply stopped working but remained a fire risk. The only way I learned of the control module melting was after having the dealer's service department diagnose why the feature was no longer working. From the dealer's diagnosis (in writing): "Driver's climate control seat control module connector melted. Recommend replacing driver's climate control seat control module and driver's front seat harness. Left driver's front climate control seat control module connector unplugged to prevent further...
I bought the car used from a used dealership on February 28. On May 12th, I brought it to the shop for a few things but mainly due to the battery being corroded along with a battery light that comes and goes, but also for there being a slight skip in the transmission. The car would buckle when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The shop called me back on May 23rd and said the car was ready and they found nothing wrong with the transmission. They claimed they found no codes or could not recreate the issue. I brought the car back a week or two later due to the battery light still flashing randomly. While taking the car for a test drive with the mechanic, it buckled pretty hard and I told the mechanic that’s what I had been talking about and he just brushed it off. On...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND THE CONTACT ROLLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER NISSAN OF LAS CRUCES (1801 S. MAIN ST, LAS CRUCES, NM 88005, (575) 523-5571) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND ALTERNATOR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
ON 02/09/2021 APPROXIMATELY 8PM, ARRIVED TO MY DESTINATION, TURNED CAR OFF, WENT INSIDE. APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS LATER (9:30PM) WENT BACK TO MY CAR TO BRING MY SUITCASE AND PILLOW IN. WHEN I REMOVED MY PILLOW FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE SEAT, NOTICED THE BIG SCORCHED AREA AND THE SEAMS WERE BRIGHT RED, THE SEAT WAS BURNING HOT TO TOUCH. BURNING SMELL WAS NOTED, AND THE SEAT SWITCH WAS STILL ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF OVER A HOUR. THE OTHER SEATS WERE NORMAL ( COOL ) TO TOUCH. I IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND STAYED BY THE CAR MAKING SURE THE SEAT AREA COOLED TO NORMAL. NOTE.....MY PILLOW WAS SCORCHED TOO. THE CAR IS A 2017 NISSAN MURANO, BOUGHT IT NEW.
REAR DOOR HATCH INOPERATIVE
MY CAR HAS A FRONT EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM IS LOCATED AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR, IN LOWER GRILLE. THE SENSOR DETECTS WHEN A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF YOU HAS STOPPED. AS YOU GET CLOSER TO THE VEHICLE, IF YOU DO NOT STOP, THE CAR WILL SOUND A 3-BEEP ALERT NOTIFYING YOU TO STOP. IF YOU STILL DO NOT STOP, THE CAR WILL APPLY THE BRAKES AND FORCE THE CAR TO STOP TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT., I WAS DRIVING HOME, WHEN THE 3-BEEP ALERT SOUNDED, AND THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY STARTED FLASHING RED AND WHITE LIGHTS. A MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY STATED THAT A CRASH WAS IMMINENT. THEN THE BRAKES ENGAGED SUDDENLY, AND THE CAR ALMOST CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THE BRAKES ENGAGED SO HARD AND SO QUICKLY, THAT IT THREW ME FORWARD IN THE SEAT. AT THE TIME, THERE WAS NO...
ON JANUARY 22, 2020 AROUND 5:30 AM I DISCOVERED THAT MY BACKUP CAMERA WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND ON AT LEAST THREE TIMES TO TRY AND GET IT TO WORK BUT THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE BACKUP CAMERA IS SHOWING THE RED, GREEN AND YELLOW GUIDE LINES BUT THE SCREEN IS BLACK. IT IS NOT RETURNING ANY IMAGES FROM BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT HOME IN A PARKING SPOT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. ONE WEEK LATER TO TODAY, JANUARY 28,2020, THE BACKUP CAMERA IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IT DID WORK FOR A FEW DAYS ON ITS OWN WITHOUT BEING REPAIRED AFTER JANUARY 22,2020 AND THEN STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. IT SEEM TO BE WORKING OFF AND ON AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. WHEN I CONTACTED NISSAN, MY VEHICLE MILLAGE WAS AT 36,099. NISSAN OF CORAL SPRINGS FLORIDA STATED THAT...
THE ABS LIGHT, CRASH SENSOR LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE THE CAR IS ON. THE THREE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME, AND WILL REMAIN ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON EACH TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, AND WHEN THEY DO COME ON, IT IS NOT ONLY AT THE TIME OF START UP. THEY USUALLY COME ON AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. THEY HAVE COME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, STARTING UP FROM A RED LIGHT, WHILE DRIVING (VARIOUS SPEEDS), ETC. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN THE LIGHTS COME ON. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON, NOTHING ELSE IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR--ONLY NORMAL USAGE--NO WEIRD SOUNDS, FEELINGS, ETC. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS. PER THE DEALERSHIP, THE ABS SENSORS, THE SPEED CONTROL SENSORS...
VEHICLE FORWARD COLLISION INDICATOR ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF EVERY FEW MINUTES DISABLING CRUISE CONTROL AFTER TEN MINUTES OR SO IT CLEARS OUT THEN AFTER TEN MINUTES IT GOES OFF AGAIN GOING THROUGH THE SAME CYCLE OVER AND OVER END RESULT MALFUNCTIONING COLLISION SENSING CAUSING NO CRUISE CONTROL WITH AUDIBLE ALARM GOING OFF OVER AND OVER WHILE DRIVING
MY MURANO STARTS SOMETIMES, AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T START AT ALL.NISSAN DIAGNOSTIC WAS ELETRICAL ISSUES, THEY CHANGED THE IPDM, CHANGED THE ELETRICAL DASHBOARD, IT WORKED FOR 11/2 WEEKS, AND WON'T START AGAIN. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. APPARENTLY NISSAN CAN'T FIX THIS PROBLEM. I'M DESPERATE FOR HELP, CAUSE I'M STILL PAYING FOR THIS CAR. IT'S CURRENTLY IN MY GARAGE, IT HAS STOPPED ME THREE TIMES ON THE ROAD, AND TWICE, IN MY GARAGE COULDN'T START
I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 NISSAN MURANO A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, WHILE IN MOTION ON ANY ROAD OR HIGHWAY MY CAR WILL BEEP AND SHOW "FRONT RADAR UNAVAILABLE DUE TO OBSTRUCTION". IT THEN TURNS OFF MY ABILITY TO HAVE CRUISE CONTROL AND REMOVES AEB AND FEB FEATURES. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT LOOKS LIKE SEVERAL NISSAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE BECAUSE OF A FAULTY RADAR. NISSAN REPLACED THE RADAR ONCE BUT THAT RADAR IS NOW BAD TOO. THE AEB, FEB, AND CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK IN MY CAR. NISSAN STATES THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN REPLACING THE RADAR AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE REPLACED IT BEFORE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A POTENTIAL RECALL IN MY OPINION.
ANTI LOCK BRAKE PUMP CAN LEAK BREAK FLUID ONTO CIRCUIT BOARD CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND CAUSE A FIRE RISK. NISSAN RECOMMENDS PARKING VEHICLES (IN MY CASE A MURANO PLATINUM 2017) OUTSIDE. IF DRIVERS SEE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WARNING FOR MORE THAN 10 SEC AFTER ENGINE START, DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE. PROBLEM- MY CAR VIN DID NOT COME UP ON THE RECALL SO I NEVER RECEIVED THE WARNING. I EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE UNDER HOOD (PASSENGER SIDE) WHEN CAR WAS OFF AND PARKED INSIDE MY GARAGE. WE HAPPEN TO BE HOME AND SMELL SMOKE. CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE TO URGE THE RECALL BE ISSUED AGAIN.
MY VEHICLE HAD A WARNING LIGHT COME ON STATING "FRONT COLLISION AVOIDANCE UNAVAILABLE". IT WOULD SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. TOOK IT BACK IN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER DEMANDING THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. TOOK A TEST DRIVE WITH THE TECHNICIAN. PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR. I GOT OUT. THE TECHNICIAN STARTED THE CAR TO PULL IT IN THE SHOP AND THE WARNING CAME ON. THEY TRACED THE PROBLEM TO A SENSOR. THE SENSOR IS NOT AVAILABLE AND IS ON BACKORDER. IN THE MEAN TIME THE CRUISE DOES NOT OPERATE AND THE FRONT COLLISION AVOIDANCE DOES NOT WORK (WAITING 5 WEEKS NOW). CANNOT DEPEND UPON THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE EVEN THOUGH THEY ADVERTISE IT.
