The drive train I believe it’s called Or transmission is malfunctioning and yes it is available for inspection upon request Our safety was put in risk when the vehicle started driving at a low speed and would not accelerate eventually stopping completely The problem hasn’t been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or service center There was no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure
Parked car due to electrical and transmission issues had left it for a couple hours to receive assistance and the car was gone it had no plates because I was attempting to register the car that same day
In 2018 I was driving back home from Derby, Kansas to Denver, Colorado in the middle of summertime, and my air conditioner started blowing hot air and the AC did not need to be charged. This was in my 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe that I purchased in April 2008 with 4 miles on it and have taken amazing care of it and still have it to this day and is in excellent condition other than these issues. About an hour later, my car starting making a revving noise when I accelerated but my car was not accelerating and I would have to pull off on the side of the road, in 100 degree weather, no air conditioning, with my dogs, and wait for 30 minutes and then I could start driving for about 10 minutes, and then I had to repeat this all the way back to Denver. I JUST PURCHASED MY NISSAN NOT EVEN 3 MONTHS AGO AND I'VE HAD TO HAVE IT IN THE 4-5 SHOPS BECAUSE NOBODY COULD FIGURE OUT WHY IT WAS GIVING THE CODE P0335. FINALLY FOUND OUT IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN. I CANT DRIVE MY OWN CAR BECAUSE OF IT AND I FEEL LIKE I GOT ROBBED OF MY MONEY. THE DAM CAR IS STUCK IN LIMP MODE. I HAVE THE TRANSMITION CODE P7044 (DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER) CAR HAS ONLY 97000 MILES DANGER IS AT TIMES CAR WILL NOT MOVE
WE WERE DRIVING ON I-695 IN BALTIMORE AREA WHEN I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT WHILE PRESSING ACCELERATION PADDLE, THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING FORWARD. IT STARTED TO STALL AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED COMPLETELY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL IT TO THE CURBSIDE BEFORE A COLLISION MAY HAVE OCCURRED. BUT SOMEONE WITH LESS DRIVING CAPABILITIES MAY HAVE ENDED UP IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE CAR STALLING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. LATER ON I FOUND OUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NISSAN DIDN'T CARE AT ALL WHEN I CONTACTED THEM. I GOT TRANSMISSION REPLACED MYSELF. I THOUGHT I SHOULD SPEAK OUT ABOUT THIS BECAUSE A TRANSMISSION STALLING A VEHICLE AT NEARLY 65 MPH IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED, LOST POWER, AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED NISSAN SOUTH AT 678-619-3104 (LOCATED AT 6889 JONESBORO RD, MORROW, GA 30260) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.

THIS CAR IS DRIVEN ABOUT 5000 MILES PER YEAR. AT 5 YEARS/25000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY WHILE IN MOTION FAILED, LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE ROAD. THAT TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT 10 YEARS/50000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY FAILED AGAIN, AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION, LEAVING ME ONCE MORE STRANDED ON THE ROAD. THAT TRANSMISSION ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. NY EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS HAVING TROUBLE I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE'S BEEN A RECALL BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING RECENT. MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ISN'T READING CORRECTLY EITHER AND I'M SCARED I'M GOING TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. AT 120000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED ON THIS 2.5 L ENGINE. WE PAID $3,000 TO HAVE THAT REPAIRED 10 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE CAR IS USING ABOUT 1 GALLON OF OIL EVERY 3 WEEKS AND WE FOUND THAT CYLINDER 3 HAS PISTON RINGS THAT ARE SHOT. OUR DEALERSHIP CONFIRMS THAT THIS ENGINE IS KNOWN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I NOTICED THAT THE 2006 MODEL ALTIMA WITH A 2.5 L ENGINE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BECAUSE THE CAR USES EXCESSIVE OIL AND AN ENGINE FIRE MAY RESULT. OUR NEWER MODEL WITH THE SAME ENGINE NEARLY RUNS OUT OF OIL EVERY MONTH AND IS VERY HOT. DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH NISSAN? ANYONE ELSE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS?

THE CAR SEEMS TO "SLIP GEARS" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE CVT TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO ENGAGE AND MOVE THE CAR AT TIMES. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE AMONG NISSAN ALTIMAS OF THIS YEAR. RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR ISSUES. THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES WHEN IT IS EXPECTED.

WHILE BEING SHIFTED INTO REVERSE FROM A STOP IN A PARKING SPACE, OUR '08 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 6SPMT MADE A LOUD CLUNK FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE FLOOR. THE SHARED BRAKE/CLUTCH RESERVOIR WAS FOUND TO BE DRAINED TO THE LEVEL OF THE CLUTCH TAKEOFF. WHILE THIS PRESENTED NO IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUES, HAD IT HAPPENED WHILE SHIFTING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I CAN IMAGINE IT WOULD BE, TO SAY THE LEAST, HIGHLY DISTRACTING FOR THE TYPICAL DRIVER AND PERHAPS MORE SO FOR A LESS EXPERIENCED ONE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED CLUTCH FAILURES IN OTHER CARS BUT TYPICALLY THE SYSTEM DETERIORATES SLOWLY, UNLIKE THIS SUDDEN FAILURE. I HAVE DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE MYSELF (COMPETENT DIY MECHANIC) AND BASED UPON NO SIGNS OF LEAKAGE OR MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE AREA OF THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER OR RESERVOIR, BUT BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE TRANSAXLE, I AM CONFIDENT THE CLUTCH...
CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 82,139 MILES. AN EXTENSION OF THE WARRANTY WAS DONE FOR A LARGE NUMBER OF CVT TRANSMISSIONS EXTENDING TO 120,000 MILES. MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE IS AT 147,000 MILES AND THE CAR JUST ABOUT QUIT RUNNING ON THE INTERSTATE 55 SOUTH ON HER WAY BACK TO COLLEGE. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 200 MILES HOME AND THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED AGAIN AT A COST OF $3500 AND THE CAR IS NOT WORTH THAT MUCH MONEY. NISSAN DID NOT CORRECT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THEY JUST PUT ANOTHER CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE FIRST TIME. THIS WAS AN UNSAFE AND UNETHICAL PRACTICE. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT NOR GIVE ANY CREDIT BECAUSE THEY SAY THERE ARE TOO MANY MILES ON THE CAR. ALTHOUGH THERE IS ONLY 65,000 MILES ON THE TRANSMISSION ITSELF.

CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT 119,00 MILES. SAID WARRANTY WAS OUT AT 10 YEARS ON JAN. 30 2018 GOING TO HAVE TO PAY $4,600.00 TO HAVE REPLACED AND ONLY GIVING WARRANTY FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION, BUT DECLINED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REGISTERED UNDER A SALVAGED TITLE IN 2014 AND THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,470.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.

ON 02/06/2014, THE CVT (TRANSMISSION) FAILED AT 117,240 MILES. THE CVT WAS UNDER STANDARD WARRANTY AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP, MCGAVOCK NISSAN, LUBBOCK, TX. THE REPLACEMENT CVT FAILED AGAIN. FIRST CVT FAILED AT 117,240 AND REPLACED BY STANDARD WARRANTY BY NISSAN. THE REPLACEMENT CVT CURRENTLY STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS, 5-10 MPH, WHILE TAKING OFF. ON 03/02/2017, 151,551 MILES, LESS THAN 35,000 MILES SINCE THE FIRST CVT WAS REPLACED, THE DEALERSHIP, MCGAVOCK NISSAN, LUBBOCK, TX, DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THEIR SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE REPLACEMENT CVT. I CALLED NISSAN USA. NISSAN USA CALLED BACK AND ADVISED THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE CVT BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT CVT WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, 12 MONTHS AND/OR 12,000 MILES. NISSAN USA WAS OF NO HELP. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY ANNOYING, IT POSES A DANGER TO MY FAMILY! THE VEHICLE IS STILL RUNNING, HOWEVER, IT IS HARD TO CROSS A BUSY STREET BECAUSE IT STALLS...
WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH ON PUBLIC WAY. POWER , WITHOUT WARNING AND SUDDENLY, WAS CUT DOWN AND SPEED REDUCED TO 10 MPH. VEHICLES BEHIND ME HAD TO TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED USING A TRANSMISSION KIT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE BECAME SEVERE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,666.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE I HEAR A LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AT B ALL TIMES. AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL THE WHINING DRIVETRAIN NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION GOES AWAY. I ALSO HEAR A RATTLING NOISE FROM CENTER EXHAUST AT IDOL AND NOTICE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PIPE HAS RUSTED OUT NEAR ENGINE FLEX PIPE.

I FIND THIS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT IN AN ACCIDENT. I SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS, BUT SEE NO RECALL FOR IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
RECENTLY, I FACED A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE DRIVING MY NISSAN ALTIMA. I WAS HEADING BACK TO KC FROM COLUMBIA. IT WAS WINDY MORNING AT 3 AM ON 70 W AND SUDDENLY MY CAR'S CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT STARTED BLINKING, AND MY CAR STARTED TO LOSE ITS ACCELERATION (WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY 70).WITH A DOUBLE TRAILER TRUCK BEHIND MY CAR A FEW OTHER TRUCKS LINED BEHIND IT, MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION AND IT FELL UNDER 40 MILES IN A FEW DREADFUL SECONDS ON A NATIONAL HIGHWAY. MY CAR CONTINUOUSLY WIGGLED AS IT KEPT DROPPING SPEED WITH A WHISTLING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS I PRAY TO GOD TO SAVE ME, IT STRUCK MY MIND TO TURN ON THE PARKING LIGHTS, THE TRUCK DRIVER WAS QUICK TO REALIZE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH A CAR AHEAD OF HIM AND CHANGED LANES AND SPED AWAY AND SO DID THE OTHERS....
I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 126,000 MILES! CAR BEGAN MAKING NOISE AS IF IT WAS STUCK IN A GEAR, IT BECAME SLUGGISH AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. DROVE IT TO SHEEHY NISSAN A FEW DAYS LATER AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CALL CONSUMER AFFAIRS BECAUSE I WAS OUTSIDE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 120,000. MY MILEAGE WAS 126,000. RECEIVED CALL FROM SHEEHY SERVICE SPECIALIST LEO SAYING THAT IT WOULD BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. THE NEXT DAY RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM SERVICE SPECIALIST AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT APPROVED BY CONSUMER AFFAIRS FOR REPAIR. I CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL ON FRIDAY, SEPT. 18 FROM NISSAN'S REGIONAL SPECIALIST, QUINASHAY, THAT MORE INFORMATION WAS BEING GATHERED FROM SHEEHY NISSAN. RECEIVED CALL FROM QUINASHAY SAYING THAT THERE WAS NOTHING NISAN COULD DO FOR ME...
GOT IN MY CAR, STARTED THE ENGINE, PUT CAR IN REVERSE, BACKED UP, PUT CAR IN DRIVE, CAR HESITATED TO GO GOT UP TO 10 MILES PER HOUR, CAR STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MY CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WOULD NOT GO. TOWED TO SHOP AND IT'S MY CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS COSTING ME $3,500 TO REPLACE. NISSAN SAYS MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I HAD TO PAY 3000.00 TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED.
I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 125000 MILES WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. I CALLED NISSAN USA TO REPORT THE DASHBOARD MELTING PROBLEM AND ALSO REPORT A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. A CASE WAS OPENED AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. NISSAN WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION IF I HAD 120,000 MILES, BUT WHEN I CALLED TO REPORT THE NOISY TRANSMISSION MY ACTUAL MILES WERE 124400 MILES. THEY CLAIMED THAT I'M NO LONGER UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA 4000 MILES. I HAVE OWNED THREE PREVIOUS NISSAN CARS AND SO FAR I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE QUALITY AND RELIABILITY OF THE CARS.
