TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND ITS HOUSING. REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN RETURNED THE ENGINE TO PRODUCTION LINE SPECS, THAT WERE TOO MUCH FOR A WORN FUEL PUMP TO HANDLE. THE INCREASED PRESSURE TO THE FUEL PUMP SHATTERED IT INTO NUMEROUS PIECES LESS THAN 100 MILES AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED. SAID PIECES BECAME LODGED INSIDE THE CAM SHAFT AND ENDED UP BENDING ALL OF THE VALVES. THE NECESSITATED A COMPLETE VALVE JOB, REMOVING AND REPLACING THE CYLINDER HEAD, FUEL PUMP, CAM SHAFT AND OIL CONTROL CALVE. AT WORST, ALL TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENTS SHOULD REQUIRE A FUEL PUMP CHANGE IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS THAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS. *JS
MAZDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON AC COMPRESSORS, WELL, MY ORIGINAL COMPRESSOR FAILED AND WAS REPLACED UNDER THAT ORIGINAL WARRANTY. EXACTLY 30,000 MILES LATER THE REPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR FAILED ALMOST 3 YEARS TO THE DATE OF THE ORIGINAL FAILURE. MAZDA IS REFUSING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS SINCE NOW MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. EVENTHOUGH THE REPLACED PART ITSELF IS ONLY 30,000 OLD. THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO EXPERIENCING TIMING BELT ISSUES AND EXTREMELY LOUD ENGINE NOISE. THIS PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR JUST SEEMS TO BE A LEMON ALL AROUND. EVEN THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE FAILING. AND THE COMPANY IS NOT HOLDING THEMSELVES RESPONSIBLE AT ALL. I'VE RESEARCH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND FOUND MORE THAN ADEQUATE EVIDENCE THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE LEMONS. THE SAME ISSUES ARE BEING REPORTED ACROSS THE WORLD! AND MAZDA IS DOING NOTHING. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH MY 10 YR OLD IN THE CAR, AND AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT FORM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WE NOTICED SMOKE AND PEOPLE HONKING THEIR CAR HORNS AT US. I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND THERE WAS A "PUDDLE" OF FIRE ON THE ROAD THAT WAS NOT THERE WHEN I PULLED UP TO THE STOP LIGHT SO I ASSUME IT LEAKED DOWN FROM MY ENGINE. AFTER NOTICING THE FIRE I QUICKLY PULLED OVER (NOT EVEN THROUGH THE INTERSECTION YET) AND INSTRUCTED MY SON TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I SHUT OFF THE IGNITION OF THE VEHICLE, AND EXITED AS WELL TO CALL 911. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE CAR WAS TOO FAR GONE TO BE SALVAGED. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY BURNED, ALL AIRBAGS DISCHARGED FROM THE HEAT OF THE FIRE, AND THE FRONT TWO WHEELS WHERE...
MY GAS LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS GOING TO GET GAS. THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE THEN I FELT A PULL LIKE A CHUG I DID NOT WANT TO RUN OUT OF GAS. I TURNED AROUND TO GO HOME A FEW BLOCKS AWAY I WOULD RATHER CALL THE AUTOMOBILE CLUB TO BRING GAS TO ME THAN GET STUCK ON EMPTY. THE CAR STARTED PULLING AND CHUGGING AS I STARTED TO GO UP A HILL.I PULLED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD ROLLED TO A STOP. AAA TOWED ME HOME. I HAD A MASTER MECHANIC COME OUT TO LOOK AT IT. HE TOLD ME MY ENGINE WAS FROZEN RINGS WERE DONE AND I NEEDED A NEW CAR AND IT WASN'T WORTH 5,000.00 TO FIX. SO NOW I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CAR NOT WORTH ANYTHING. OH YEAH! I'M VERY UPSET! *TR
JUST BOUGHT A USED 2007 MAZDA CX7 ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND THE CAR STARTING PRODUCING SMOKE OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. TOOK THE CAR IN AS IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE TURBO CHARGER IS GOING OUT IN THE CAR! I ASKED THE DEALER IF THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT IT WAS NOT. THAT IS ABSURD! DRIVING TO WORK ON INTERSTATE TRUCK LOST POWER AND HAD TO ROLL TO SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED ROLLING. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO LOCAL MAZDA DEALER, SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. ADVISED MANAGER TO FIX THE TIMING CHAIN AT A COST 1700.00, NOTIFIED TWO DAYS LATER TIMING CHAIN WAS FIXED HOWEVER WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE A PIECE WENT INTO THE ENGINE AND "BROKE' IT. I WAS ADVISED COULD HAVE REPAIRED FOR 8,000.00. COULD NOT AFFORD IT, HAD TRUCK TOWED HOME AND IT HAS REMAINED PARKED FOR 4 YEARS, AND YES I STILL OWED ON IT. HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE THE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRUCK SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL AND SAME ISSUE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. DRIVING ON MY WAY TO TENNESSEE, THE CAR HAD A MAJOR POWER LOSS AND SCREECHING NOISE FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE BAY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TURBO HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO ENGINE SLUDGE. THE CAR HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES USING THE PROPER AMOUNT AND OIL WEIGHT. MAZDA HAD A RECALL INVOLVING THE TURBO AND THEY DID NOT HONOR IT BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT 1000 MILES OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
CAR STARTED TO MAKE A TICKING NOISE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A TIMING CHAIN RELATED ISSUE. WILL COST ABOUT $1500 IN PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE TIMING CHAIN, VVT VALVE, AND SPROCKETS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY EXHIBIT A TICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE NOISE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS ALL OF THE WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FRACTURED AND CAUSING IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE AND THE TIMING CHAIN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 MAZDA CX-7 IN APRIL 2007, THE VEHICLE STARTED EXPERIENCING ENGINE PROBLEMS IN SEPTEMBER 2007, I WAS TOLD IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE VVT (VARIABLE VALVE TIMING) AND TIMING CHAIN. THE VVT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP A SHORT TIME LATER; HOWEVER, NOT THE TIMING CHAIN. AFTER THE VVT WAS REPLACED MY VEHICLE STARTING TO EXPERIENCE THICK WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TAIL PIPES. MY DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN ADVISED THIS WAS DUE TO A TURBO ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE YEARS OF MY OWNERSHIP. I HAVE HAD THE TURBO REPAIRED (OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE), AS WELL AS THE VVT (2 TIMES) AND THE TIMING CHAIN IT ALL SEEMS TO NO AVAIL. THE CAR IS REVVING VERY HIGH ON COLD START UPS AND IS NOW EXPERIENCING A CODE AS OF THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS THAT...

I DID ALL MY MAZDA CX7 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, I PAID A LOT FOR IT. THEN MY CAR STARTED MAKING NOISES, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SO MANY TIMES AND THEY SAID THAT THE NOSE WAS NORMAL BECAUSE ITS A TURBO CAR. ONE DAY, RUNNING AT APROX 40 M/H MY CAR LOWER THE SPEED AT NO MORE THAT 20 M/H, IT WAS SUNDAY AFTERNOON SO I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY) AROUND 68 K MILES. THE PROBLEM WAS THE TIMING CH. AFTER WAS SOME FIXED, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STAYED WITH THE CAR 21 DAYS ( I PAID FOR THE RENT A CAR) THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS ABOUT SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND THEY NEEDED TO WAIT FOR THE PART, SO THEY CHANGED IT BUT IT WASN'T THAT PART, SO THEY PUT EVERYTHING BACK AND SAID THAT WAS THE ENGINE....
DECEMBER 2012 (AT ABOUT 64,000 MILES) DEALER REPLACED TIMING CHAIN UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS AND ENGINE HESITATION THAT I HAD COMPLAINED TO THEM AT THE TIME. NOVEMBER 2013 (AT ABOUT 78,000 MILES), THE CAR EXPERIENCED SEVERE LOSS OF POWER, STALLING AND HEAVY WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAILPIPE. DEALER CLAIMED "OIL SLUDGE" CAUSED ENGINE AND TURBO FAILURE AND REFUSED TO BEAR ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR COST TO FIX. MAZDA USA ALSO REFUSED, CLAIMING THE PROBLEMS WERE DUE TO INSUFFICIENT OIL CHANGE BY THE CUSTOMER. SINCE WE CHANGE OIL REGULARLY, WE DON'T BUY MAZDA'S CLAIMS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY JUST OPENED UP THE ENGINE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO TO CHANGE THE TIMING CHAIN, AND AT THAT TIME DIDN'T CLAIM THERE WAS ANY "SLUDGE" INSIDE. SEEING MANY SIMILAR CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS MAZDA HAS BEEN TRYING TO HIDE A SERIOIUS DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING...
IN SEPTEMBER 2013 MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING IT... HEARD A LOUD, GRINDING, SCREECHING NOTICE.. AND SUDDENLY MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. TIMING CHAIN REPLACED ON 2007 MAZDA CX7, JULY 2013. VEHICLE OVER EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BY MAZDA, REPAIR WAS OUT OF POCKET, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR MAZDA. NOW 5 MONTHS LATER, SECOND TIMING CHAIN HAS GONE BAD AND MAZDA IS REFUSING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY STATING THAT THE NEW TIMING CHAIN FAILURE WAS DUE TO LOW OIL IN VEHICLE. I HAVE SERVICE RECEIPTS TO PROVE THAT ALL OIL CHANGES HAD BEEN DONE, AND THAT THIS WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE SECOND TIMING CHAIN FAILING, BUT MORE OF CONTINUANCE OF FAULTY, DEFECTIVE MAZDA PARTS. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS COMPANY WITH AN OUTSTANDING NUMBER OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS. A FRIEND OF OURS WAS DRIVING TO PICK US UP FROM THE AIRPORT (OUR CAR HADN'T BEEN STARTED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS) AND, ABOUT 15 MILES INTO THE TRIP, THE AC QUIT WORKING. WE TOOK IT TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING, AND THEY INFORMED US THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR HAD SEIZED AND IT, ALONG WITH THE BELT (IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER PARTS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED) NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AND THE REFRIGERANT FLUSHED/REFILLED. TURNING INTO A WALMART PARKING LOT MY CAR SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON. ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS PASSING BY SINCE I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER ACS CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE TURBO. BEFORE TAKING THE TRIP ON 4-18-2013 I TOOK MY CAR THE MAZDA OF MESQUITE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I HEARD A TICKING NOISE AND THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED...
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR. I DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THE CAR WAS HANDLING, HOWEVER I TOOK MY CAR INTO MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY INFORMED ME THE CARS TIMING BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS SLUDGE ON THE ENGINE. IRONICALLY I HAD JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND MY ENGINE CLEANED OF SLUDGE LESS THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR. WE SUBMITTED THE CLAIM THROUGH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND AFTER A WEEK GOT IT APPROVED. THE MORNING I WAS SLATED TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS STILL AN ISSUE THAT THEY NEEDED THE CAR LATER. A FEW DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED MY ENGINE REPLACED. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DENIED THE ORIGINAL CLAIM NOW AND THE CLAIM FOR A NEW ENGINE DUE...

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VVT VALVE TIMING CHAIN WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THE VVT VALVE TIMING CHAIN. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED THE TIMING CHAIN (AND ASSORTED PERIPHERALS) REPLACED...FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS. THE FIRST TIME WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY, BUT ONLY AFTER I PRODUCED THE RECORDS TO SHOW THE OIL HAD BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY. THE SECOND TIME WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. DRIVING EAST ACROSS THE BAY BRIDGE FROM SF, THE ENGINE MADE A WHEEZING NOISE. AFTER A MILE THE POWER DROPPED, AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY TRAVEL AT 30 MPH.
