WHILE DRIVING AND DECELERATION THE JEEP SHUTS OFF. NO LIGHTS COME ON INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER RUNNING. THE FIRST CLUE IS LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE MILES OF DRIVING. THE JEEP STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AND THEN 99% OF THE TIME WON'T STALL AGAIN FOR A COUPLE DAYS. THIS IS GETTING MORE FREQUENT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CASE WAS FILED; HOWEVER, A PARTS SPECIALIST WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,005.

IT HAPPENED ONCE WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A SPEED ZONE ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. THE VEHICLE GIVES NO WARNING THAT IT IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN. OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER DID SOME DIAGNOSTICS, BUT FOUND NOTHING. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO THE 5.7 ENGINES. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING THE CAR WITH ANYONE IN IT FOR FEAR OF GETTING REAR ENDED IF IT STALLS, AND PEOPLE ARE BEHIND ME.

INQUIRED AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING, AS THE OWNER, I COULD'VE DONE. THAT SOMETIMES THIS JUST HAPPENS AND IF IT WAS CLOSER IN YEARS TO THE END OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD COVER, HOWEVER SINCE IT IS 7 YEARS OLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.
