2022 JEEP COMPASS Engine Problems

The ABS wont go off it constantly stays on I put a brand new battery in it went out about a week later had to jump start it...When it rains or snow it is like my wipers and headlights goes crazy and sometimes my backup camera is all blue for no reason...I feel like there is something major wrong in the wiring somewhere

This car has stalled 9 times while I was driving. I live in a very busy, densely populated area where car stalling in the middle of streets can get me badly injured or killed. The car stalls in Drive, while I'm braking, and slowly coasts along about an extra 2 feet before completely stopping. I cannot tell that it has stalled because I can't hear the engine, and the Dash always says "Run" with all the lights lit up. Also, Lane Assistance comes on when no cars are around and the car just starts braking on its own and slows down with loud bells ringing and flashing lights on the inside of the car. On 8/26/25 I got the 88A recall fixed on this jeep at Duluth dodge in Duluth mn .. I left dealership and my ac stopped working brought it back they fixed and it and got it working now on 8/30/25 I’m at a stop light and my jeep stalls, it went to go start for me to drive and it died. In May 2024 my issues started and have not stopped or been able to be diagnosed by 2 different dealers after 4 times of them having my car. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.

I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, my car completely froze and stalled. Everything on my car locked up. I was not able to turn my car off. My gear shift was locked and the gear letters were flashing. After about 1 minute my car starting moving. Scariest experience ever. I have a dash cam video but can not upload the video here.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 59,920.

The vehicle has an automatic start stop function that randomly turns off the vehicle when at a stop sign and puts the brake on. This has happen 3 times since leasing this car last year. I took the car into the dealership after the second occurrence to get it checked out but they could not duplicate the problem. The first occurrence was around 6 months after getting the car.

Vehicle shut off at stop light , parking break engaged and disengaged , Drive shift was flashing , dash was flashing. I shut the vehicle off twice because it happened twice in the same moment until the third time it allowed me to drive.

Occurs at stop sign/light when idling. The car will shut off and will not turn back on although all features in the car are running. The screen will display ‘engine running’ but the vehicle will not drive. I will push the stop/start button and nothing happens. It will take a few minutes for the vehicle to come back on again. This has happened numerous times at random. I have taken my vehicle to two separate dealerships and neither have been able to figure out how to repair the issue. I do not feel safe as this is a high risk for accident and I have two children who are in the vehicle.

The auto start/stop came on and then the battery for it died left me at a green light with the vehicle not running. Had to turn ignition off then restarthe vehicle. it also placed the parking brake on.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with by the Remote Assistance of Jeep engineers, and it was determined that the batteries had low-capacities. On Thursday, November 9 2023 I picked up my car from Arrigo Chrysler Jeep Autodealer located at 2250 FL-7, Margate, FL 33063 where my car was present for 13 (thirteen) days for the following service: a replacement of lost/stolen car keys. When I am stopped at a red light, once the light turns green I go to accelerate and the vehicle stalls. The car is still on but the engine completely shuts off. The only way for the vehicle to move again is by turning the car off and then on again. It is extremely dangerous and I have almost been rear ended because of it. Another issue I am having is when I go to accelerate the car jolts and has a grip to it. It feels like something is pulling the car back and I have to push extra hard on the gas to move the car. This happens a lot when merging on the high way or accelerating on side streets.

I have my car for 2 years and the engine has stalled on me 4-5 times at lights trying to come out of the start stop mode. I’ve almost been rear ended multiple times. When these random incidents occur cars behind me do not know what is going on. I took my car to the dealer on 10/3/2023 and they were able to duplicate the problem as I’ve stated it does it at random the code service shifter also flashes on the dash as well as auto start stop not available. But the dealer says the codes are not stored and can’t find them.

This vehicle randomly shuts off. It is usually when I’m going at a slow speed or applying the break. It cuts off and jerks for a second and then I put the vehicle in park cut it off and restart it and it works normal.

The car is supposed to turn off and on when making stops because of the eco mode. There are times where the car will turn off at the red lights and will not turn back on automatically. The driver shifted the vehicle into park(P) and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to another local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.

- Unsure what is failing. With increasing frequency, 22 Jeep Compass Sport repeatedly stalls (1+ time every few months since OCT ’22) when trying to accelerate after stopping, always (except for one time) engaging auto ebrake, and always requiring a shift to park and engine restart. Start/stop system. (Shuts engine off at red light, then turns back on when you take foot off brake and press gas) Was at a red light, when light turned green the car did not move. Had to put the car in park and hit the ignition button a few times before it would go.

Car has overheated and needed to be towed twice, the most recent being today. Car overheats suddenly and breaks down in unsafe locations including the interstate. The car has been to the dealership four times for engine problems with no fix. Check engine light comes on after car overheats.

When I was traveling on the highway at 65 MPH, the car suddenly stalled placing my life in great danger, it was also difficult to steer off the road as it would not restart nor accelerate. Once the car was over to the side of the road it would not restart after several attempts. The car restarted after 1 hour of being on the side of the road and I drove it home, 2 days later it would not start when attempting to drive it for repair. The vehicle has been towed to the Chrysler dealer where it was purchased.

I was on the entrance ramp for the freeway and the gas pedal disengaged. I could not accelerate and my car slowed down. A message on the display said to service electronic throttle. This has happened to me twice. My car is barely six months old. I was going 40 mph at the time. Today, I was getting into my car after picking up lunch and as I sat down, the alarm went off for close to 4 minutes. This vehicle has two dangerous issues: 1) It brakes unexpectedly and for no reason during drive. This has happened to me at least 3 times while driving on the freeway without any cars close in front or around me. Bells and whistles just go off all of a sudden and vehicle brakes for no legitimate reason, throwing me forward. 2) This vehicle stalls while driving. This has happened to me 6 times.
