The automatic braking that happens when the car sensor thinks you are too close to another car is dangerous. This has happened to me three different times when there were cars in front of me turning right. There was plenty of room and the car was turning so I was following, and it not only slams on the brake and makes you stop, but then it takes it a minute to reset before you can move again which then can slow traffic. I was almost rear ended two of these times. It is unsafe. You can manually turn it off, but you have to re set it every time you get in the car. I have seen many complaints about this occurring and causing people whiplash as well due to the sudden stopping on Hyundai sites.

I was driving straight in the left most lane on an expressway, about to make a left turn on a green left turn arrow. The vehicle in front of me was making a U-turn. My Hyundai Tucson abruptly braked quite hard. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm guessing the vehicle making U-turn slowed down a bit before the U-turn and might have triggered a forward collision avoidance braking but I didn't feel like there was a need. This caused the vehicle right behind me to also abruptly brake and if they hadn't, they might have rear-ended my car. After making the left turn, the vehicle behind me angrily overtook me because they likely didn't know it was the car's system which did this

The forward collision avoidance system in this generation of Hyundai tucsons is dangerously flawed. We previously had a 2020 and no issues, but this one slams the brakes at the drop of a hat and has nearly caused several accidents as there is no good reason for the intervention (ample space to leading vehicle) and it brakes so hard that cars behind typically need to veer to avoid rear end collision. This is not a one-off event or linked to particular driver/driving style - both adult owners of this vehicle have experienced this on multiple unrelated occasions. All sensitivity setting have been set to minimum and the only way to drive with peace of mind is to completely disable the system - but here is where the next massive design flaw is: the system automatically reenables at each re-ignition; there is not permanent override, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. It is...

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at various speeds, the imminent crash braking failed to function as intended. The first time that the failure occurred, the contact's wife was driving in the rain, and a beeping sound was coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle stopped independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality after several minutes. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while his wife was driving in slow traffic, there was an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle independently stopped. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality minutes later; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

Hard braking first occurred on a major highway with no prior notice that this would happen in close call accidents. The cars traffic had to veer away from me in order to avoid hitting me. Another highway (95) incident was a 18 wheel semi that had to move to the shoulder and could have easily totaled my car and me. I then researched this and found I could delay the action be setting the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist mode to "Late". This helped in giving notice for some time, however the hard braking occurred again on a regular two lane small highway as I switched lanes, saw a car stopping suddenly and the brakes locked up. (This is the latest incident as dated below). There was no "Late" warning, the brakes just locked up. Being in fear of my and my families life I did further research and found that I...

The forward collision avoidance engaged when it was unnecessary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. It doesn't slow you down, it brings your vehicle to a complete stop and leaves you stuck unable to move for a few seconds... just long enough for the person behind you to read end you. This is incredibly dangerous. I would speculate that this feature will result in many rear end wrecks and should be addressed expediently or Hyundai may risk a significant class action lawsuit.

Had just turned out onto a major road and started to accelerate. At approximately 30 mph forward collision system alerted and applied automatic emergency brakes even though the next car was several car lengths ahead of me and there was absolutely no risk of forward collision. The vehicle immediately behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear ending me. Thankfully, this was coming out of school zone so their speed was not high. At regular street speeds this malfunction would have likely resulted in a crash with injury. During the time that the automatic brake system was activated I could not override. I used gas pedal but car would not accelerate until the system stopped, perhaps 2-3 seconds later. Car was purchased used within last month and had an inspection by seller then, but I am not aware of any inspection by manufacturer/ dealer.

11/2/2025- The forward collision warning and the automatic emergency braking system engaged and brought my vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the road when there was no imminent danger of a forward collision occurring. My vehicle was rear ended by the vehicle behind me as a result of the sudden and complete braking of my vehicle. This same incident happened a few days before this collision, but there was no vehicle behind my vehicle, so no rear end accident happened at that time. 12/1/2026- vehicle inspected at Jim Click Hyundai regarding the sudden stopping of the vehicle. Jim Click determined a fault code FRONT CAMERA BLOCKAGE. Dealer said they cleared the code and the problem should not return. On or around 12/8/2025 the 2025 Hyundai again had the front collision avoidance system randomly setting off alarms when the vehicle was driving on the freeway and other vehicles...

The emergency breaking system automatically engages whenever it feels it wants to. It has become extremely dangerous to drive the vehicle on a daily basis. I have been in contact with Hyundai, Hyundai consumed affairs and have brought the vehicle back to two dealerships to see if they can duplicate the problem. They have been incredulous thus far and still I am left with the safety issue. I feel very scared to drive the vehicle. I am not sure what to do at this point because Hyundai said if they can’t duplicate the problem then the vehicle is working as designed but is it going to take a serious accident for this to be taken seriously. It has been happening since September 2025. Thank you

I started to accelerate from a full-stop to turn left at arrow onto highway ramp and car's emergency brakes came on with a real jolt - almost rear-ended by semi behind me. So scary. So dangerous. Backache, now, too.

The Automatic Emergency Braking system, I think it may be called (or is a part of) the Forward Collision Avoidance system by Hyundai, triggered incorrectly while on Interstate 265. My car was travelling at about 35 MPH on the off ramp when the Automatic Emergency Braking system triggered and cause my car to rapidly decelerate to a near standstill. The vehicle following behind me had to swerve into another lane to avoid hitting my car. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The component has not been inspected yet, but we will be bringing it to the dealer in the near future. There were not warnings or messages that this was about to happen other than the emergency sound and light when the Automated Emergency Braking engaged. This has happened twice before on other roads and in other situations with this car.

customer of Hyundai 4 years now. issues with the Forward Collison-Avoidance Assist (FCA) on my 2025 Tuscan, malfunctioning, aggressively breaking, fantom breaking when absolutely no imminent collision will happen, causing other drivers to come within inches of a rear crash with me, also the same fantom breaking while parallel parking. the breaking causes me to be thrown towards my windshield. made appointment with a Hyundai service they inspected on a diagnostic machine and no recommended "codes" were available after test was done, no repairs made they said my car is fine. happened again within 2 blocks of service center PLEASE HELP

The automatic brake system triggers when there is no obstacle. It has caused the car to stop suddenly in the middle of the road and almost become rear ended several times. We took it to the Hyundai service center and they said they’ve had complaints of this before but checked the system and don’t see any issues.

This vehicle has had numerous problems since I leased it. To summarize, at times the vehicle randomly shifts out of the ECO mode, usually into the SNOW mode. The engine has also raced, hesitated, bucked, rattled and vibrated when trying to change gears. Sometimes, these actions are subtle and sometimes they are borderline violent. This happens more frequently when the engine is cold. Additionally, the AEB system has activated a number of times while in stop and go traffic, even though the vehicle in front was moving forward. On at least 3 of these occasions, i barely avoided being rear-ended by the vehicle following me. The final issue that I have noticed is a problem with the odometer. It has appeared to work normally most of the time, but I have noticed times where I didn't think the odometer accurately reflected the distance I had traveled. I was able to...

Approximate date 10/7/2025. Driving 20mph clear daylight sunny conditions in right lane, another vehicle in left lane put on right blinker to merge in front of me into my lane. The merging vehicle was 3 car lengths ahead and had plenty of space to merge. Merging vehicle was only half way into right lane when without touching the brakes and no warning alarm the wheels locked up completely, skidding to a complete stop, almost got rear ended. 2 days later on 10/9/2025 same weather conditions while driving on highway the traffic was stop and go,speed 40mph. A vehicle ahead of me applied their brakes,no imminent threat, I placed my foot on brake pedal as a precaution, then brakes locked up so I pumped brakes thinking what else could I do? This did nothing, brakes remained locked until vehicle stopped. Almost got rear ended again. I can’t remember if any audible alarm or dash warning. These...

The automatic braking was inappropriately applied while I was coming to a controlled stop on a 45mph stop light intersection. I was already slowing down and about 30 feet behind the car in front of me the Collision Avoidance warning starting going off, slightly applied brakes (to the additional amount I was already applying) then slammed on the brakes to a complete stop. There was some teen behind me who wasn't paying attention, and obviously no one expects the car in front of them to slam on their brakes 30 feet behind the cars in front of them, then plowed into back end of my car. This isn't the first time it's happened and I wasn't even at risk of collision as I was already slowing down in the other instances. But this time it caused an accident and injury. I am suffering from whiplash and possible herniated disk. The...

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on three occasions and depressing the brake pedal, the Forward Collision Avoidance system malfunctioned. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated the Automatic Emergency Braking system excessively, causing the brakes to engage forcefully, and almost caused a crash on one occasion. The dealer was not notified of the failure. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

We were driving on I4 in stop and go traffic. Our speed was under 25 mph and we were over a full car length back from the vehicle in front of us. I was actively braking to come to a stop due to traffic and the forward collision / emergency braking kicked in and stopped us immediately. This caused a car behind us to almost hit us and cause an accident due to sudden stopping. This happened 3 separate times within a 30 minute timeframe with 2 different cars behind us. The system will take control of braking the car and the steering wheel, and will not always give it back immediately to be able to continue driving. This has occurred previously when slowing down due to someone turning in front of us just in every day driving, and has almost caused a wreck then as well. Our local Hyundai...

Forward collision alert system has slamed the breaks on for no reason. The vehicle begins abruptly stop for no reason. On two of the occasions I was almost rear-end by following vehicles. The system needs to be recalled.

2 times, while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle automatically slammed hard on brakes to full stop without any danger or other vehicle near, causing neck pain/whip lash. 3 days ago, I attempted a U-turn in busy intersection, suddenly the vehicle braked hard and came to full stop without any danger near. The dash lights lit up, the vehicle stalled. I was in middle of very busy intersection. It would not move forward. I reversed just in time to miss being slammed into by fast moving oncoming traffic.

On numerous occasions (over 20) the forward collision system just slams on the brakes to a full stop, there was nothing close enough to vehicle to cause this issue. Sometimes it’s caused by rain or wind, sometimes for no apparent reasons. One time it caused a no damage accident as person behind me tapped my bumper. In traffic it is set off often with nothing within a safe distance away. There was no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles around me. I have brought the car back too Hyundai 3 times only to tell me either a dumb excuse or nothing is wrong with vehicle. I have seen on forums there are a lot of incidents with this particular car We have serviced the vehichle 3 different times over this issue and were told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle Accident happened in summer so I will say...

Concern: DAW Driver Monitoring System False alerts shuts down cruise control. Safety issue when passing on interstate and suddenly the cruise shuts off and has to be reset. This warning sometimes goes off randomly and not due to driver attentiveness. If my arm is in top of steering wheel it blocks camera and wearing certain types of sunglasses. This system is asking the driver to not put his arm on top of wheel which is ridiculous.

The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is braking aggressively without a valid hazard, creating a serious rear-end collision risk. Incident 1 [XXX] , approx. 60 mph) : A vehicle legally changed into my lane with safe separation. The FCA system detected this as a collision risk and applied hard braking on the freeway. Following traffic had to brake abruptly and I narrowly avoided being rear-ended. Incident 2 (Intersection U-turn, 15 mph): While completing a permitted U-turn on a green light, the FCA detected a distant cross-traffic vehicle and suddenly braked in the intersection, leaving me stopped in an unsafe position. I set FCA sensitivity to the minimum/“Late” setting after the first event. The false hard-braking continues. Hyundai dealership [Anaheim Hyundai] states “no issue found.” This behavior is repeatable and unsafe. I request investigation into false positives and unintended hard braking, a software remedy, and guidance to disable automatic braking until fixed...

I was driving on the road this morning approx. 25 mph (clear road, no rain, snow etc.) The car came to a full abrupt stop. Collusion/warning notification never came on (there was nothing in front of me) seatbelt locked. Car would not move. I put the car in park and had to turn the car off and back on to get the car to move. This honestly scared the life out of me. I had several cars behind me that could of rear ended my car and caused serious harm to myself or other drivers. I called the dealership (will be dropping off this evening) but they made it very clear that if they can not duplicate the problem there is nothing that they can do. The car has 8,000 miles on it and was purchased in April 2025.

Multiple times my vehicle has come to a complete stop unwarranted. There have been multiple instances of the automatic braking triggering on Michigan left hand turns with no traffic oncoming. This was reported to the dealer and they found no issue, however it has happened again since. The vehicle has also multiple times come to a full stop in heavy traffic when I was already braking and a full stop was unnecessary. There were two instances from this where I was very nearly rear ended, including on the expressway. There were no warnings that the system was malfunctioning.

While driving at speed in heavy traffic, I quickly merged from the right lane to the left lane to avoid an obstacle. My vehicle and the new vehicle in front of me (in the left lane) were traveling at approximately the same speed, although there was an admittedly small (one half car length) distance between us. My forward collision assist inaccurately identified this new vehicle in front of me as a sudden danger that I was going to hit. It immediately applied full braking power and played the forward collision alert sound. This aggressive and unexpected stop spilled and broke items in my car as they slid, roughly strained me against my seat belt, and caused the vehicle behind me to aggressively brake. A rear end collision was narrowly avoided, only due to the fast reaction of the driver behind me. This aggressive and dangerous forward assist and emergency braking...

I was traveling on [XXX] in Nashville. There was a motorcycle speed trap on the right shoulder so I moved over to the left. The car in front of me also moved to the left and my car slammed on the brakes and came to a complete stop on the highway. I was badly rear-ended causing $12,500 in damage. This has happened 2 other times to me since then. This seems to be a consistent problem with the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. I'm fixing my car and selling it as I don't feel safe. There is a camera mounted on the steering column that is "supposed" to be a safety feature to tell you when you are not paying attention to the road. It gives you a picture of a coffee cup and says "consider taking a break" along with repetitive beeping. Unfortunately, if you wear sunglasses (mine are prescription), a hat, are too short or too tall it can go off repeatedly. It is extremely distracting and causes you to take your eyes off the road to see what's going on. On a 350 mile trip that I make often, it has gone off for a solid hour every 4 minutes! It averages about 30-40 times in that 5 1/2 hour trip. It also mutes anything that is playing through the infotainment system including directions. I have asked the dealer who says there is nothing they can do and it is a known...

I was driving on a highway in the largest city in the world and while vehicle merging into my vehicle, Hyundai Tucson automatically and abruptly engaged emergency forward collision. There was absolutely not necessary. All loose items in vehicle went flying inside of my car. My body went forward as well as my passengers. Luckily I was not rear ended in an accident. This is the third incident of the vehicle automatically engaging safety features which actually does the opposite and is a hazard, since I bought the car in Feb 2025. There is no way to permanently disable these features. A driver not being in control of their car is a huge liability on the road. This vehicle must be recalled to disable this feature. Perhaps in a rural area somewhere in the world with no other cars around , this wouldn’t be an issue. Large cities with vehicular...

Under two occasions I was driving on the highway at a safe distance from the car in front of me and my car emergency braking system triggered and went off and caused my car to stop in the middle of the highway. This caused a collision behind me. There was no reason on either occasion for the braking to bring the car to a hault.

Control screen keeps going randomly blank, for different periods of time, putting the driver at risk, because the vehicle information, including speed, lights, wipers, basically everything is displayed in this screen. Sometimes the sentence NO SIGNAL shows up. I had experienced several scary situations, specially in freeways when raining, you have zero driving information. The car has been to the dealership service 4 times, with different tentatives of repair, none of which worked. The last time my car was at the dealership service for 25 days and after 2 days the problem was back, even worse. Sometimes all the lights of the control screen light up, with no reason and keep on even after the car is turned off. This is our only car and we need it, but the car is absolutely unsafe and unreliable. I refuse to leave the car for a 5th time, Hyundai has no idea...

9/26/25. Friday late afternoon at 5PM. Driving on the Southern State Parkway in stop and go traffic…. the traffic opens up and we start driving to about 10 MPH, with no emergency present and the car did an emergency stop on it’s own. Frightening experience…it’s amazing we didn’t get rear-ended. This is the third time this happened, but I only documented this time. At least 5 times now when no car was breaking extremely close to me or when I gently touched the breaks the automatic emergency breaking kicked in and slammed the car to a stop. Twice the car behind me had to swerve out of the way and hit another car causing 2 accidents without my car being involved. Once it caused me to hit my head on the steering wheel. This function is more destructive and dangerous than helpful. At no time should my car go from 70 to 0 in a second for no reason, but with this it does. Got the car in the March 2025 so 5 times in 7 months.

My 2025 Hyundai Tucson had approximately 150 miles when the forward collision warning system has started to provide false warnings. The first event happened as I was pulling out of a parking lot where there was a dip in pavement between the lot and road. The dip in the pavement was interpreted as an object about to cause impact so my car automatically applied full braking. I almost got hit from the car behind me who was not expecting me to stop. Now my car has 406 miles on it and I routinely receive warnings about collisions due to nearby cars doing U-turns or cars which I will definitely not hit. A few times it has applied braking which has almost caused several accidents from cars behind me not expecting me to stop.

Several times now the Forward Collision Safety has activated and the car came to an abrupt stop. The car in front of me was braking and I was lightly tapping the brake pedal when out of nowhere the car started shuttering and came to a complete stop. This definitely scared me and I was relieved that the car behind me did not rear end me. I was not going fast by any means and I did not slam on the brakes as there was no need to. The Forward Collision is not a safety feature. This is a real problem and now I am scared of this braking design. I now deactivate this feature every time I turn the car on because there is no way to permanently dismantle this. Hyundai needs a recall to correct this.

Driving through a green light, no car in front of me, collision avoidance activated and applied full brake. If a car had been close behind me I would have been rear ended.

Every time there is morning condensation/dew or rain, my front collision warning does not work. A notification pops up, the symbol comes onto the dash and it takes a good 3-5 minutes depending on the severity of the weather to have the symbol and notification go away and work. Also, 98% of the time when my car was preset to turn on, the emergency brake automatically engages every time I get into the drivers seat.

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to slow down, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system activated, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 1,200.

-auto start/stop "feature" Since there is no way to permanently disable this feature i forgot that it was on. while stopped a stop light i was unable to move when the car behind me could not stop due to the wet roads. If the car behind me was unable to swerve in time i would have been rear-ended. by the time the engine started the car behind me was in line with my back seat. no amount of gas saving is worth being immobilized essentially in a emergency situation. - forward collision avoidance is way too sensitive, in the same trip as above a car hit their brakes approximately 6 car lengths in front of me to turn into a parking lot. the car in front of me did slam on their brakes to make the turn. As i took my foot off the gas to slow down the "safety...
