AC FAILIRE IM SUMMER, just outside warranty but tsb issued. Holler Hyundai Service wants to charge me $350 diagnostic fee to take a look and diagnose. Extreme heat while having to use vehicle to go to work, run errands and transport children. No alternate vehicle is available and dealership is unreasonable to work with. Due to high humidity in Florida windows fog and hard to defog, visibility is impaired suddenly while driving
The driver side wiper stopped functioning during a rain storm. Fortunately, I was not on a major road and was able to navigate. If I had been on the highway, I would have been blinded and potentially in a major accident if not able to pull over expeditiously. This malfunction occurred approximately one year earlier and was corrected by the dealer at that time. I believe some Hyundai Palisades have had a recall for this issue in the past. I am concerned that this has recurred and not been fixed definitively. This issue has potential fatal consequences. I am taking the vehicle to the dealer tomorrow to address the issue. I cannot take it today as it is still raining and I would be placing myself and others at risk.
Driver side windshield wiper has stopped working after encountering snow. The issue was initially intermittent, but now the wiper on the driver's side has stopped working completely. In searching, this is a known issue with other Palisades.
1) Back end of the vehicle sways, bounces at any speed when going over slightest bump. Driving with failing shocks or struts has a direct impact on your ability to control vehicle. Research indicates KNOWN ISSUE with 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisades - TSB22-SS-001H issued for PART of the problem but no recall. Hyundai clearly knows about it but not issuing needed recall because it is a warranty item, hoping customers don't realize it until out of warranty. Mine still in warranty, 48K miles. Rear- self leveling shocks appear to be the issue along with upper insulator piece. See Forum: [XXX] ) Another KNOWN ISSUE with cracking windshields same model. Mine cracked [XXX] while parked under cover - no apparent cause, Hyundai wanted over 1K to replace - had to use insurance to replace it. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The car started very slightly making a clunking noise and it progressively got worse. We've taken it for every scheduled maintenance and didn't know anything was wrong. We asked for it to be specifically checked at our recent oil change and were told it is a unfortunate COMMON issue that HYUNDAI IS AWARE of BUT the warranty ended on that about 6 months ago - something that should've been addressed and resolved, they waited until out of warranty and didn't do anything and now the fix is $1700 (rear struts need to be replaced) car jumps and it will get even worse. Also the wipers turn on when there is no rain but don't turn on when it rains the sensors are messed up
Windshield developed a 30 in crack without hitting anything on the road. Other owners report a similar problem on a Facebook group.
I was driving in a downpour today at approximately 11:30 am at 40mph when the driver side wiper stopped working. This is a verified recall issue which WAS REPAIRED on February 28, 2023. I was able to pull over safely into a parking lot until the weather calmed and then was able to very carefully drive home on side roads.
Two cracks to windshield that started spontaneously from the upper and lower edges of windshield when vehicle was only a few months old. Both cracks immediately lengthened 2.5 to 3 feet within 15 minutes of crack starting. Multiple small chips over past 2 years that have not occurred in our other vehicles that are driven similar routes and distances. It is evident that there is a problem as so many other owners have complained of the same issue . With the ease in which these windshields chip and crack , it is very concerning for safety in that it would likely provide little protection in a crash and it likely does not meet safety standards. Based on the major cracks starting spontaneously on the edges, it could be a problem with the frame/structure as well as lack of strength in the glass. Steps should be taken to correct this issue...
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the windshield wipers were engaged and wiped across the windshield once and then stopped working. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V627000 (Visibility) and 22V633000 (Trailer Hitches) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the tow hitch fuse was removed. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure with the windshield wipers. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 100. Parts distribution disconnect. The contact stated that the trailer hitch issue was resolved. The wiper failure occurs regularly and even during clear, sunny weather conditions. Hyundai states that...
Four windshields in 2 years. Very small rocks cause major cracks. $6000 on windshields.
TINY PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSCEEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IMMEDIATELY A LARGE CRACK SPREAD ALL OVER THE WINDCSREEN
Windshield is fragile and breaks easily. Windshield will break from low impact debris. Crack impairs drivers vision due to extensive quick spread across windshield.. Car is inoperable due to light refraction on crack.
Car was originally purchased new on May 30, 2020. On July 30th, 2020, I noticed a chip in the windshield. The car only had roughly 600 miles. I did not hear anything hit the windshield. I experienced another ding in the windshield on January 23, 2021 and then another happened on April 14, 2022. I have never experienced any issue with any other car having this much windshield instability. The car is almost 2 years old as of this writing and at 14,516 total miles.
Windshield cracked
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving in inclement weather at an undisclosed speed, the front windshield wipers became inoperable causing a visibility hazard while driving. The contact veered to the side of the road and cleared the snow from the windshield and waited approximately 45 minutes before the windshield wiper regained normal function. While driving back to the residence the failure recurred. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Front wipers stop unexpectedly operating when in moderate snow conditions. Wipers will not operate again for 3-4 minutes, leaving driver stranded on roadway. The dealer, after consultation with Hyundai tech support, says it appears the motor overheats but replacing it with a new motor will not solve the problem. The have not replaced it to verify that position. As the owner, this is a scary and dangerous situation when it occurs and appears that the motor overheats prematurely and then requires time to cool off. Problem has occurred 4 times. The fact that neither the dealer nor the manufacturer have responded with a solution
Windshield cracks easily. It is a known issue and Hyundai has yet to recall it. Will have had to replace my windshield twice in two years for incidents that should have resulted in no crack or a small crack. Kia has addressed the issue on the Palisade's sister vehicle, the Telluride but Hyundai has not even offered to replace them for free or reimburse owner costs when they have made a faulty part. It's hazardous and costly and should have been recalled immediately for the safety of their drivers.
A few days ago a small pebble was thrown up from a car in front of me while traveling from work which led to a small 1" spider crack in the windshield. By the next morning, this spider had grown to about 1' long. And now by the end of this week it has grown to more than 2' long.
2020 Hyundai Palisade purchased in May, 2020, amid COVID shutdown, and not driven as much as normal until September, 2020. In February, 2021 was driving along a 4-lane parkway (speed limit 55) and something struck the windshield. All other vehicles were at least 2 car lengths away and the sound of the strike sounded like an insect hitting the windshield. What resulted was a nickel sized, spidery crack on the passenger side, about a third of the way from the top. When Safelite attempted to repair this, it immediately spread out as they applied pressure while installing their equipment. Windshield had to be replaced (Hyundai glass used). August, 2021 car was being driven on 6-lane interstate (65mph) when a large rock struck the lower part of the passenger side of windshield. Large crack resulted which immediately spread across windshield, necessitating another windshield replacement (3rd party glass used). A week later,...
Windshield crack appeared near the roof line just to the drivers side of the rear view mirror and traveled immediately ~18 inches diagonally towards the passenger wiper blade. There appears to be a very tiny nick where the crack started, but if something hit the windshield it was so small we never heard it and the crack traveled instantly across the windshield. The car was hand washed the day prior and no cracks/chips were evident.
When driving down the tollway in my city early in the morning, no cars around for at least 200 yards, something small hit my windshield causing a spiderweb crack in the center of windshield. Will have owned the vehicle for 2 weeks as of tomorrow and has less than 3k miles on it.
While we were in a store shopping the windshield spontaneously cracked. No reason, not caused by a rock chip or any other impact.
My back windshield shattered unprovoked once again. This is the second time.
The rear windshield shattered unprovoked. This was only 3 weeks after being repaired for the same issue. This is the third time.
I walked out to my vehicle in the driveway this morning and the windshield was cracked for no apparent reason. There were no visible chips near the crack. Crack extended from lower Driver's side corner upwards and across to almost the center-line. I also had to previously repair two chips in the windshield that did not appear to be from debris damage. It would appear that the windshield is defective as installed at the factory.
At 12,800 miles, while parked, a 18'' to 24'' windshield crack spontaneously appeared originating from the lower, passenger side edge, sloping up towards driver side. Nothing came into contact with the glass, and no chipped starting point is visible.
On interstate highway in South Dakota in September 2020, a small pebble came off the road surface creating a small chip on front windshield. Within one hour the windshield had a crack horizontally covering the entire windshield. This caused a complete one day delay on our vacation trip as the windshield had to be replaced at a local Safelite location. Certainly the delay was an inconvenience but more important we are concerned about our safety. This occurred when vehicle was less than 2 months old. Now it is July, 2021 and on another interstate a small pebble came off the road and caused a small chip in the lower left windshield. Next day the small crack started to run requiring a compete windshield repair AGAIN. If a small pebble can do this immediate damage, I fear the entire windshield could shatter causing a major accident or at worst a fatality....
A small rock hit the windshield and a huge crack ran all the way across at 7,000 miles. Before I even Had time to replace the windshield another crack in a totally different location developed. Extremely unsafe!
The auto glass must all be restored. It’s essential that the windows/ windshield be in good condition at all times. Driving with a chipped or cracked windshield may put me and my passengers at risk for injury in the event of a rollover or collision. I do not feel safe with this windshield as the crack spread halfway within 24hours.
VEHICLE WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING AT THE TOP MIDDLE AND MOVED DOWN THE WINDSHIELD. WE DID NOT NOTICE ANY ROCK HITS TO HAVE CAUSED IT. WITHIN 2 DAYS THE CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE EDGE. IT HAS NOW STARTED TO DO THE SAME TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE. FROM RESEARCHING FOR A REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IT SEEMS LIKE THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE.
The windshield was hit with a pebble at a low speed of around 35mph. There were no other cars within about 3 car lanes, so this was not a high-impact situation. However, the pebble cracked still cracked the windshield. The dealers confirmed that this model vehicle has a high incidence of cracked windshields that could potentially lead to injury or harm. I am worried that a truly high-impact rock would be life-threatening to the passengers.
Windshield chipped and subsequently cracked with no noticeable impact with any rock or other object.
WAS TRAVELING IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A WELL MAINTAINED COUNTY STREET WHEN A SMALL PIECE OF GRAVEL STRUCK AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEAREST VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS AHEAD, TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION.
WAS DRIVE ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 55MPH AND SOMETHING STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. A SMALL CHIP WAS ON THE GLASS. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY SENT SAFELITE GLASS TO REPAIR THE CHIP. AFTER TRYING TO REPAIR THE CHIP A LARGE CRACK DEVELOPED AND NOW THE WINDSHIELD HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD IS NOT SAFE IN MY OPINION. A SMALL CHIP SHOULD NOT CAUSE THE WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED.
A TINY STONE KICKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY BARELY MADE A NOISE AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. I TRIED TO HAVE REPAIRED AND IT SPREAD. CAN'T BELIEVE HOW FRAGILE THE WIND SHIELD IS FROM A BE TINY STONE. I TOOK IT TO SAFELITE AND IT IMMEDIATELY SPREAD, NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE OT
WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING ALL OF SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING WHEN IT'S SNOWING CAUSING ONE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. IT DOESN'T HAVE TOO BE A HEAVY SNOW FALL. IT'S A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE AND HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DURING 2020 & 2021 WINTERS
THE WINDSHIELD IN THIS CAR IS HORRIBLE! I'VE ALREADY HAD 2 CRACKS IN IT, ONE OF WHICH THAT HAS SPREAD SO BAD IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. ONLY 15,000 MILES ON THE CAR! NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY OTHER CAR I'VE OWNED.
SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT SNOWED THIS WINTER, I HAD ISSUES WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FREEZING UP ON ME. THIS SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
SMALL PEBBLE STRUCK WINDSHIELD AND LARGE CRACK OCCURRED ON DRIVER SIDE. HAD WINDSHIELD REPLACED ON 2/25/21. ON 3/20/21, ANOTHER LARGE CRACK APPEARED ON DRIVERS SIDE FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
DRIVING ON A TWO LANE RURAL ROAD DURING A SNOWSTORM, A TOWN SNOW PLOW STOPPED SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I STOPPED SHORT, SNOW SLID OFF OF MY ROOF ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER, LEAVING ME WITH NO FORWARD VISIBILITY AT ALL.
WITH SNOW, THE WIPERS JUST STOP WORKING IF TOO MUCH SNOW PILES UP IN THE WELL EVEN WHEN DRIVING.
WHEN SNOW BUILDS UP IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WELL THE WIPERS STOP WORKING.
I HAVE A 2020 PALISADE AND I LIVE IN MAINE. TODAY WAS THE THIRD SEPARATE EPISODE THAT MY WIPERS COMPLETELY DISABLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I SPENT QUITE A WHILE PRIOR TO DRIVING CLEANING OUT THE AREA NEAR THE WIPERS, AND HAD TO STOP THREE TIMES ON MY HOUR LONG COMMUTE TO WORK TO CLEAR MORE ICE/SNOW FROM THE AREA WHERE THE WIPERS REST. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE WIPERS WERE WORKING WHEN I LEFT MY HOUSE AND BECAME DISABLED AS I WAS DRIVING. THE WEATHER WAS A MIX OF SLEET, RAIN AND SNOW BUT WITH MINIMAL BUILDUP THAT WOULD'VE CAUSED THE WIPERS TO BE DISABLED. I HAD NO WARNING OR VISIBILITY AND AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE EASILY OCCURRED. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING A SMALL PEBBLE STRUCK MY WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY CRACKED IT. THIS WAS NOT A ROCK, BOULDER OR ANYTHING OF SIZE, IT WAS A PEBBLE. I HAVE SEEN THAT OTHER 2020 PALISADE OWNERS HAVE ALSO HAD THEIR WINDSHIELD CRACK UNDER THESE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES. ITS UNREAL THAT HYUNDAI IS ALLOWED TO SELL CARS WITH INSUFFICIENT WINDSHIELDS WITH THIN GLASS. THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN YOUR UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF YOUR CRACKED WINDSHIELD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
CRACKED DRIVER WINDOW, NO VISUAL SIGN ON DING
VEHICLE WINSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT JUST CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT FROM AN OBJECT. INITIAL CRACK WAS APROX 10 INCHES LONG AND NOW EXTENDS AROUND 16 LOCATED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF DRIVER. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT COVER AND COST IS OVER $1,200 DOLLARS. HAVE DELAYED DUE TO COST BUT IT IS IMPACTING DRIVERS VISION.
NEW 2020 PALISADE GOT A CRACKED WINDSHIELD WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF PURCHASE (300 MILES) FROM A TINY PEBBLE AT 30 MPH ON A SIDE ROAD. REPLACED ON 9/17/2020. A SECOND CRACK APPEARED YESTERDAY (1/10/21) ON THE REPLACEMENT WINSHIELD AT 6351 MILES. NOTHING WAS HEARD OR SEEN TO CAUSE THIS ONE AGAIN DRIVING G ON A SIDE ROAD. SO I HAVE HAD TWO BROKEN WINDSHIELDS ON THIS NEW VEHICLE IN A VERY SHORT TIME UNDER LIGHT DRIVING CONDITIONS.
WIPER SYSTEM APPEARS TO HAVE BUILT IN PROTECTION FOR THE MOTORS THAT WILL STOP THEM ANYTIME SNOW BUILDS UP IN THE WINDSHIELD WELL. THIS HAPPENS EVEN IF THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDSHIELD WELL ARE COMPLETELY CLEARED PRIOR TO STARTING A DRIVE. I'VE HAD TO PULL OVER TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE, CLEAR THE SNOW, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON TO START THE WIPERS TO WORK AGAIN. AGAIN, TO BE CLEAR, ALL SNOW WAS REMOVED FROM THE WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING DURING SNOWFALL, SNOW ACCUMULATED OVER WIPER AREA AND BLOCKS WIPERS FROM MOVING. WE HAD TO PULL OVER ON HIGHWAY IN MIDDLE OF SNOWSTORM AND CLEAR THE WIPER AREA. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY. THE WIPERS TURN OFF IF THERE'S EVEN A LITTLE AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE, AND THE HOOD DESIGN ALLOWS FOR BUILD UP ACCUMULATION OF SNOW WHERE THE WIPERS GO.
THE CAR WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY. THE WEATHER DURING THE DAY WAS 65 BUT THEN FROZE AT NIGHT. SOMETIME DURING THE NIGHT MY ENTIRE BACK WINDSHIELD SHATTERED. THERE WAS GLASS ALL THE WAY UP TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, IN THE CUP HOLDERS, EVERYWHERE. THE ARM OF THE WIPER ALSO BROKE IN HALF. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF SOMETHING BEING THROWN OR ANYTHING HITTING THE CAR. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BESIDES THE WINDSHIELD BEING SHATTERED.
