These cars has some serious engine issues they are literally defective I've had 5 different engines installed in my car I keep the maintenance up on my car but its still no luck with the engines I've risked my life from almost having accidents due to engine failure I have proof that these calls have been engines and I honestly feel like it's a serious issue that needs to be adjusted

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred a week later. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic, who again diagnosed a failure with the engine and informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred three additional times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened....

Car shuts off while driving for no reason. Happens last time on the beltway. No check engine light or warning that it will cut off. Doesn’t happen at the mechanics. No one knows why it happens. I see this is an ongoing issue for Genesis

I bought the car new, it has 39k miles on it. 5k miles ago while repairing the water pump under the 10 year powertrain warranty, I reported to the dealership the engine was making bad knocking/grinding sounds at startup and the oil consumption was high. The dealership dismissed this as "normal" for this car. 2 weeks ago the engine seized up without warning, no loss of power or harshness, no engine check light or low pressure warning. I had just left the I15 in rush hour traffic traveling at 70mph. The starter could barely turn the engine, I thought it was a flat battery. After some time I managed to restart the engine that now sounded like a machine gun and limp a few miles home. I tried replacing the oil, which I do on a regular basis, and it contained metal fragments. The warranty expired in Dec 21 but...
MY VECHILE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS TIMES. THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN WHICH LIVES COULD BE LOST . THIS EEMS TO BE PROBLEM WITH THE GENESIS FROM 2012 TO 2016 FROM MY RESEARCH. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM . THE DEALERS CANT FIND THE PROBLEM OR WHY IT IS OCCURING . COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL POWER SUPPLY AND TOTAL MECHANICAL SYSTEM/ENGINE NO LONGER OPERATIONAL
CAR SHUT OFF FULL POWER OFF WHILE ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AND I WENT ACROSS THE ROAD UP A SLANTED SMALL HILL AND RAN OVER TREE AND YARD DEBRIS.
ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED 4 TIMES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH ALL THE ICONS LIKE IT DOES WHEN YOU PRESS START ON THE CAR WITHOUT ACTUALLY TURNING IT ON. AC AND RADIO STAYED ON BUT BRAKE PEDAL AND STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED UP AND LOSS OF FUNCTION IN TRAFFIC. HAD TO PUT GEAR IN PARK TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. ALL 4 TIMES IT CAME BACK ON WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AND TOOK ME HOME. COMMON ISSUE THAT OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED AND CAN KILL SOMEONE!

WHILE DRIVING ON HWY AT FAIRLY GOOD SPEED OF 73-75 MPH, WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL, THE ENGINE DIED AND STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO NONE AT ALL, ALL WHILE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OFF. CAR COULD NOT BE STARTED AGAIN. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NON-OPERABLE AND PARKED. IT APPEARS I AM THE THIRD OWNER OF THE IS VEHICLE. YOUR ASSISTANCE IS APPRECIATED.

AT 31,500 THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR FAILED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS POSTS FROM OTHER OWNERS ABOUT THE COMPRESSOR FAILING. HYUNDAI WILL NOT SHARE THE TSB'S ABOUT THIS KNOWN ISSUE. AN AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 50,000 MILES AND IN REALITY A LOT MORE MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MY GARAGE PARKED AND THE COMPRESSOR WENT BAD. I FOUND OUT THE NEXT TIME I STARTED THE CAR AND THE COMPRESSOR DID NOT WORK. THE COMPRESSOR INSIDES WERE PLASTIC ACCORDING TO THE HYUNDAI MECHANIC JACK THAT WORKED ON THE CAR AT SAN TAN HYUNDAI. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT LET HYUNDAI SELL JUNK THEN CHARGE FOR REPLACEMENTS.

ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPS AT LOW SPEED. IT IMMEDIATELY WILL RESTART BUT ALL POWER ASSISTS ARE LOST UNTIL RESTART. IT DOES SEEM LIMITED TO WARMER WEATHER AND THE AUTOMOBILE IS FULLY WARMED UP. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. FIRST TIME WAS JULY-2017 AND MOST RECENTLY WAS AUGUST-17, 2018. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT FIND ANY ERROR CODE OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
HYUNDAI GENESIS 2012 ENGINE STALLS IN TRAFFIC AT SLOW SPEEDS. AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN ONA CROWDED FREEWAY ON RAMP THE ENGINE DIED. ALL LIGHTS WENT ON AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR STEERING OR BRAKES. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT SEEMS TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED
ENGINE STALLED RANDOMLY AT LOWER SPEEDS, USUALLY WHILE TURNING. LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES - EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR AND UNBELIEVABLY DANGEROUS. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES AND MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TWICE, ALL WHILE TURNING FROM A HIGHWAY OR HIGHWAY INTERSECTION. FORTUNATELY I HAD TOLD HER IT MIGHT HAPPEN TO HER AND WHAT TO EXPECT IF IT DID. GIVEN THE NUMBER AND CONSISTENCY OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED, IT IS EQUALLY UNBELIEVABLE THAT SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN INVESTIGATED. IT IS SO RANDOM THAT IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO REPLICATE, BUT GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURIES OR DEATHS THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURER PROBLEM.

WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO RAMP ENGINE FALLS CUTS OFF AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER STEERING, BREAKS OR ANYTHING. FINALLY GOT IT ON TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK AND IT CRACKED RIGHT UP. THIS IS VERY SCARY. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN GOING FAST DOWN THE ROAD AND COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. SOMEONE COULD BE KILLED LIKE THIS. I DECIDED TO LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE AND FOUND OUT THAT LOTS OF OTHER HAVE HAD THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEMS AND NO MECHANIC OR ANYONE CAN FIND ANYTHING. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS AND FIX THERE MISS UP BUT OF COURSE IT WILL TAKE PEOPLE BEING KILLED FIRST.
ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND SPEEDS OF 20 MPH. THE BRAKES AND STEERING WILL STOP. HAPPENS SPORADICALLY NOT OFTEN BUT SCARY. HAS HAD HAPPEN ABOUT 5 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR PERIOD.
EVERY TIME MY CAR IS IDLE, WHETHER AT CARPORT, STREET LIGHT OR HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE RUNS REALLY ROUGH SOUNDS/FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO TURN OFF (STOP RUNNING)ALSO WHEN AC/HEATER & RADIO ARE ON IT GETS WORSE! IT'S SCARY TO THINK I MAY GET STUCK IN MIDDLE OF FREEWAY/STREET EVERY TIME CAR IS AT IDLE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI DEALER FROM DAY ONE FOR THE ISSUE AND EVEN LET THEM KNOW IT'S STILL HAPPENING EVERY TIME I TAKE IT FOR ENGINE OIL CHANGE OR OTHER SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND TOLD EVERY TIME THEY CAN'T FIND ISSUE!! I DO NOT REMEMBER SPECIFIC DATES, NOR DID I SAVE ALL THE PAPER WORK SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2012! SHOULDN'T DEALER HAVE RECORDS IN THEIR COMPUTERS? IT'S BEEN ON GOING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2012!!
I HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH MY 2012 HYUNDAI GENESIS 5.0 R-SPEC. I HAVE AN ONGOING EXHAUST SMELL/LEAK. IT IS VERY STRONG WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND AT IDLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE SMELL SEEMS TO BE EITHER RAW FUEL OR RAW EXHAUST THAT IS LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM. I HAVE TO PLACE MY AC SYSTEM ON RECIRCULATE OR LOWER A WINDOW OR THE FUMES BECOME OVERWHELMING. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING THE SMELL SUBSIDES. ON 01/18/2017 MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP PREFORMED AN EVAP SERVICE TO POSSIBLY FIX THIS ISSUE TO NO AVAIL. A SECOND EVAP AND AC SYSTEM SERVICE ON 02/01/17 WAS PREFORMED AND STILL THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CHARCOAL FUEL TANK FILTER IS FINE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. I BELIEVE THE SMELL IS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR POSSIBLY THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD...

EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, ENGAGED THE PUSH START BUTTON FEATURE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND LOST STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROL WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. DETAILS: ON BOTH THE TIMES, WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AT A SLOW SPEED THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING WAS WELL AS BRAKES. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND PUSH BUTTON TO START THE CAR AGAIN. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE WAY (CAR OR A PEDESTRIAN), OR ELSE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THIS COULD BE AN EVEN DANGEROUS ISSUE IF THIS HAPPENS WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN OR WHEN ON A FREEWAY. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS, AND HAVE HYUNDAI FIX THIS PROBLEM.

WE JUST PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, TODAY IS MONDAY, THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT DIDN'T KNOW THAT I HAD DOCUMENTED THE MILEAGE AND THEY DID NOT EVEN TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ORLANDO HYUNDAI IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE, I KNOW OTHERS HAVE REPORTED A SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN OUR 2012 GENESIS 3.8L THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES AT THIS POINT. MY WIFE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THIS ISSUE COULDN'T BE DUPLICATED. THE CAR HAS DIED IN TRAFFIC AND WHEN GOING AROUND A CURVE. POWER STEERING IS LOST WHEN THIS OCCURS MAKING IT A BIT NERVE WRACKING. THIS IS AN ISSUE HYUNDAI NEEDS TO ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR WORSE.
