The fuel pump has been on recall and ive been waiting over 2 years for a part
Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a complaint regarding an unresolved recall issue for my vehicle. Although the manufacturer’s service center has completed the recall repair, the repair has not been updated in the NHTSA system, and the vehicle still shows an open recall. This unresolved status is creating serious issues: The car cannot pass Vehicle Safety Systems (VSS) inspection. Registration cannot be completed for the buyer. The bank is holding funds from the sale until the recall is officially cleared. I have contacted both Honda corporate and the servicing dealership several times, but despite their assurances, the recall remains uncleared in the system. Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2019 Honda Civic VIN: [XXX] This delay is unreasonable, disruptive to my business operations, and unfair to the customer. I respectfully request NHTSA’s intervention to ensure that Honda updates the recall status promptly and accurately. Thank you for your assistance. INFORMATION REDACTED...
I had gotten a new battery because one point after work, my car would not start. I then got installed a brand new battery, and it still wouldn’t turn on. The only things that turned on were the dashboard, but no noise coming from the front engine compartment. I tried turning it on after, but it wouldn’t start at all. I then got it towed to an auto shop and they installed a new starter. The new starter worked for a month before another incident in a Walmart parking lot where it would not start after turning the key multiple times. After a few times it started and I drove it again to the same auto shop. The auto shop had no trouble starting it, they turned it on and off several times without any fault. That was in July of 2025. Fast forward a few weeks later, there was...
When trying to start the car the car won't turn over. When it finally does start and i am driving it seems to lose power as if it wants to shut down. Im afraid to drive long distances. I looked up recalls based on my vin however nothing comes up but when I look it up based on year make and model it has an open recall for faulty fuel injector that needs to be replaced for the same exact symptoms. Please help as i am 7months pregnant and afraid for my safety.
I brought my car to the dealership Honda North at 382 Newbury Street in Danvers MA on 6/5/25 to repair NHTSA Recall number 23V-858. The vehicle was returned to me on 6/7/25 at which time I was told the interior would have a strong fuel smell for 1-2 days, but that would disappear. After 4 days, the fuel smell worsened and the "Check Engine" light had come on. On 6/11/25 I returned the vehicle to Honda North. When I picked up the vehicle several days later, the fuel odor was minimal, and the check engine light was off. Today [XXX], the check engine light is back on. I plan to call Honda North to schedule what will be my 3rd visit to Honda North for this safety recall repair, which clearly is not being repaired properly, and putting me in further danger of crash or injury. The fuel injector on my 2019 honda civic si went bad at 58,000 miles, which is over a $2,000 repair. Not only is this a widespread problem with Honda,..they KNOW about the fuel injectors being faulty and have discontinued the part, instead they have chosen another supplier to manufacturer the injectors without issuing a recall. This is blatantly a known defected part and Honda should immediately compensate/replace affected models. There is also a potential class action lawsuit related to this, by Migliaccio and Rathod, LLP My email is [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I took my car in this morning for a recall. For the fuel pump. It took the dealership very little time to get my car out which was strange for me because originally they told me it would take 4-5 hours. Following the recall I needed gas since I was told to have a little under half a tank. I was on empty following the procedure. While I was pumping gas I had my hand help on the pump. There was not automatic pump enabled. My car keep taking the gas which was weird and then suddenly I saw gas leaking from my fuel point. I stopped the pump instantly. I soon called Honda but there was no pick up for a long time so I began driving a 3 mile trip from my gas station to the dealer. I started with 365 miles of gas remaining. Once I got...
On my way to work my car stalled while being driven. I lost the ability to maintain my speed and my car decelerated to a stop in the lane of traffic. The car would not move forward and would not start after it was turned off. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic on a four lane highway during morning rush-hour traffic. A police officer had to remain behind my car in the lane of traffic with their lights on until a tow truck arrived to prevent an accident. My car could not be moved due to the high rate of speed of the cars traveling around it and cars had to merge quickly into the open lane. There were several near accidents while waiting for the tow truck. There were no warning signs or messages that the car had an issue. The mechanic the car was towed...
FUEL PUMP INOPERABLE CAUSING MY CAR TO START AND STALL WHILE DRIVING. NEED THIS REPLACED ASAP!
Some how my steering wheel is crooked, so while going straight, my wheel is around 2 or 3 inches to the left. If I turn it all the way, in either direction the wheel will click, click, click back, moving back the opposite direction with every click. I've changed both front CV axles, sway bar links, brakes, all 4 tires, bought 2 rims so far. Still having issues. Also makes a cluck sound while braking. stalls while stopping and going a lot. Had fuel recalls done already. When a car is coming have to hit the gas pedal to the floor to get it to go. Almost killed me once while automatically braking while switching lanes. There was an 18 Wheeler in front of me to start off with, I turned my signal on to get over in the lane beside of me, which had another 18 wheeler coming a...
Car has delayed cranking time. Recently got a new car battery but car has weak, struggling and delayed start up. Video proof has been sent to dealership since issue could not be reproduced while car was there for 4+ hours recently. Recall on fuel pump in the past. Other vehicle models are on current recall list but mine is not. I fear that my car will stall while driving or I will become stranded on the road due to this issue.
I received a recall notice about the fuel pump in February 2024. I have been calling Ed Morse Honda to schedule the replacement and they haven't had the parts. I just received a notice from Honda that states the following: "This notice is being sent to inform you that these parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair." I called Ed Morse Honda again today, Nov. 14th and they informed me that they don't have the parts and do not know when they will get them. This is a serious fuel pump issue according to the Honda recall notice that said "can result is serious injury or death.
Our local dealer, Hall Honda in Virginia Beach VA has not been able to repair this recall in a timely manner. It has been over 6 mo. This is the only place I could find to report a complaint. Your website does not make it clear where to go to submit a concern or complaint.
my car has one recall part . It say :American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2016-2021 model year Civic vehicles. The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers. Over time, the low-density impeller can deform and interfere with the fuel pump body, rendering the fuel pump inoperative. I tried to contact some Honda dealer but they don't have the part to replace Please help me out thank you so much
Reached out to Hill Country Honda, San Antonio Texas since the inception of this recall, approximately 2 years ago, and when I received Honda notifications to contact dealer for scheduling. Received another notification from Honda, today, November 4, 2024 and Service Advisor at Hill Country Honda stated they do not have the part and do not know when they will be receiving and to k=just keep checking in to see if they have the part. This is unsafe, disapointing, and just bad business practice from both Honda and Hill Country Honda.
It’s almost been a year since the recall came out. The dealerships are saying Honda hasn’t issued any parts. Called the Marysville Service Center, was told Honda wasn’t fixing any cars unless having problems. Am I supposed to wait until something happens, get in an accident???
Honda failed to notify me of a fuel pump recall and has failed to replace or fix it within a reasonable time frame. Honda still have not given a timeline of when they will be able to fix the recall and told me to “figure it out” if I want it done sooner.

Hello, I received a recall notification for my 2019 Honda Civic in May 2024. The recall notice states the fuel pump module may have been an improperly molded impeller. The recall is dated May 2024, I called the Markley Honda dealership in Fort Collins Colorado where I purchased the car and was told they did not have the parts yet. It is now mid October and I have called numerous times including yesterday to be told they still do not have parts. I am very concerned that this has not been fixed in a timely fashion. In the recall it states the car could stall during driving increasing risk of crash or injury. I am not sur what is causing all of the lights coming on dash as well as all safety features being lost when driving the car. Right now it is but the light and warnings may cut off. Cr stalls at times. Hose keeps coming off the turbo causing the car no to accelerate in traffic. Yes, without any of the features working my safety and others safety is at risk Yes, The vehicle has been in the shop four times in 1 month for the same issue they say its fixed but the lights keep coming back on and I keep losing all safety features in the car. This is an on going issue 7/31 had car serviced for issue 8/10 light back on, hose loose again, 8/12 lights on again. 9/7 light back on have to take car to shop again. This is the 4th time.
I would like to report an incident on my 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback. On [XXX] around noon, I was merging onto [XXX] in Fremont, CA. As I was was picking speed to merge around 50mph, suddenly my car lost thrust. As I pressed on the accelerator more, my car couldn’t go faster than 30mph. All the warning lights came on. I could have been easily hit by cars behind me picking up speed to merge onto I880. It was a near miss. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The car stalls randomly when turning on, and it just cranks but doesn’t start. This has happened to me 6 times already. I took it to Braman Honda Dealer in Miami and they said that because it is not happening "now" referring to the time of the visit. It cannot be identified or repaired. There are no parts available for the recall . What is this? I need someone to help me out.
Fuel pump affected by recall. Vehicle tends to not start at times and leaves me stranded. Honda unable to replace part in timely fashion even though I have gone to the Honda Dealer several times prior trying to get the issue resolved. Paperwork shows open recall. No warning lights. Will need to be able to drive from MCB Camp Pendleton to Washington State to drop car off at home of residence prior to deployment
my 2019 Honda Civic Sport has 2 different recalls and this car has not been fixed or checked by a mechanic at this time, I was sent back home from my appointment at Honda Loma Linda dealership with a promised phone call to resolve the situation, which as today is: 1- car stall's unexpectedly while driving, when this happens it looses power. 2- AC was not working properly since the car was bought in 2022, I set my appointment at Honda dealership but service was denied due to some other vehicles priority, my phone calls were never returned and as today I've been spending out of my pocket trying to fix the issue on my own despite I had it reported to the dealership quite while ago.

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [XXX] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control....
The Carr some times breaks self and the gasoline not passing through the engine
Honda's 1st letter explained limited availability with the fuel pump recall. The 2nd letter also automated a schedule with an authorized dealer, Norm Reeves Honda of West Covina. Unfortunately, the dealer claimed on 6-5-24 that this part was not available. The dealer was notified a complaint would be submitted to NHTSA.
No parts till fall
Recall on fuel pump; multiple dealers do not have the replacement piece, they say “you can but don’t call other dealers.” I made an appointment over the phone to fix said recall, finally a dealer didn’t say they were out of the part. I show up. It’s a joke. No parts available. “We’ll send a notice in the mail” They aren’t “helpful” Honda people. They physically told me, you have to wait for a problem to happen with this recall and maybe we’ll prioritize you. Basically it’s a lottery if this will be fixed, and it’s only most likely if you get hurt. They’re waiting for accidents to happen to HAVE to fix the cars. Excuses do not save lives, taking cars with issues off the road does. It’s may 19th 2024 and this recall allegedly occurred 12/18/24
My emergency braking system goes off constantly without anything in front of me. I almost got rear ended on a highway because my car came to a dead stop with nothing in front of me or even on the sides of me. It does this daily. My car also has been having a delayed start. It sounds like it almost does not want to start but then starts. Both of these issues have been affecting other Hondas including regular civic sedans but excluding my model and have recalls issued.

Honda fuel pump had a recall back in 2020-2021, which was replaced months after. Now, two years later my car has completely stalled out on me in the middle of driving, not once but TWICE. In the middle of the road. Both incidents happened when I had gas in my car, full battery, etc. and would not turn on until again (both times) until I manually put gas in it. Accelerating is extremely weak, engine is sputtering constantly. Brought it to Commonwealth Honda after the first incident, no answers. After having this happen a second time, i brought it back a second time. I was told there is nothing they can do as they can't see the car stalling in person. I have reiterated to both technicians and management that this car is NOT safe to drive due to a faulty fuel pump, and I am being told tough luck....
I received a recall notice for the fuel pump module. The Safety Consequence in the recall notice says the following: An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024. I should be entitled to a loaner car until the part becomes available and is fixed. If my car stalled while making a left turn in an intersection could be deadly. I called the Honda Motor Company and they reiterated the same information in the recall notice. So, no help there.
My 2019 Honda Civic has been under recall for months now. I wonder why it's taking so long for Honda to come up with a resolution. I called the Honda Recall/Customer Service Line a few weeks ago, and they said that the part was unavailable and that I should talk to my dealer to get an inspection to rule out any other causes. Over the past six months, I've been having on-again, off-again issues with my car, specifically after fuel-ups at gas stations. Initially, I thought this was an issue with the fuel quality, so I reported it to the Arizona Department of Agriculture, who told me the gasoline was acceptable. I've had to use fuel system cleaners and slightly higher-tiered gas as a scapegoat measure. Considering that this recall can cause issues with the fuel pump module and result in stalls, increasing the risk of injury and death, I...
I received a notice from Honda dated "February 2024." The notice states that "the fuel pump module may have an improperly molded impeller. Over time the impeller can deform and cause the fuel pump to become inoperable . . . an inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." Honda acknowledges the fact that there COULD be an issue with certain of their vehicles, but later states that "[t]he replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to become available in the fall of 2024." Knowing that Honda wants me to drive a possibly defective vehicle for at least 6 more months while KNOWINGLY allowing me to do so with the "increas[ed] . . . risk of a crash or injury," is extremely concerning....
this seems like a safety risk that should have a solution by now
My fuel injectors are failing and there is no updated part from Honda with new fuel injectors.
Received notification through my Honda link app that there is recall on my 2019" Honda civic hatchback. Honda Fuel pump motor recall expansion stop sale " Information provided states the danger of this recall.. risk of crash or injury. I contacted my local Honda dealership on 1/10/2024. I actually purchased this vehicle new there in 2019. I was told no Solution has been decided yet. I mentioned the seriousness of the information provided about the recall. All she could say is that she would make a notation that I called & I would receive updated information about this recall when it becomes available. Scary!!
Been a month and still no remedy for fuel pump for 2019 Honda civic si and am having problems with it and said there is no projective time to fix it
I called on the dealer to do the repair but the dealer don’t have the part, I asked to pay from my pocket to try to move forward but they still saying that is not available repair/parts and they don’t know when it will be available, the way that I use the car requires the car with all recalls updated, the dealer I contacted was in westford in Massachusetts If the recall is not related to something safe, I just would like a letter saying that I can keep using the car while I wait for the part, and as I said, if I need to pay for that, I’ll pay, but I have to bring the car back to work
Vehicle fails to start randomly in the morning Everything powers up and the screen lights up, but the car doesn't power up fully Maybe fuel pump issue
My vehicle had an open recall for its fuel pump back in 2021 but I wasn’t having an issue at the time of the recall as of 6 months ago my car won’t turn on and the fuel smell that is in and thru out my car is so bad that. I cannot drive it , it has shut off on me while driving , I took it to a dealership in Fresno ca only to be told there are no open recalls , I clearly told them it was back in 2021 that I received a letter telling me of this but cannot locate the letter I did my research and my year make and model car has the recall but it’s out dated what do I do ,
The fuel pump gave out . The Honda dealership tried to fix the car multiple times ande fuel pump they fixed is steal leaking fuel. I was in the street driving home and the car auto stalled on me. I spent almost 2 grand to get it fixed and the dealership charged me and it got worse.
On Sunday morning, 8/27/2023, I entered my car after having driven it an hour prior for around 30 minutes to and from a sandwich shop. I entered the vehicle and turned the engine on without issue, and attempted to accelerate. After making it about ten feet, the acceleration on the gas pedal suddenly stopped working. I would push the gas pedal and the car would not move, nor the engine even rev. Confused, I parked and turned the car off and on again. Upon turning the car on, the engine stalled for a brief moment before slowly engaging. It was at that moment that I felt the entire car shifting back and forth, shaking. I immediately shut the car off out of fear and waited for a few moments before making a second attempt, being met with the exact same result. The next day, I entered the vehicle and attempted...
Fuel filter went on vehicle causing it to stall with my child in the car. Dealership misdiagnosed and replaced the battery causing the fuel pump to fail going down a very steep hill. There's a VIN specific recall on my year, make, and model of car; but not my specific VIN. Yet my car has all the issues and descriptions that were defined in the recall warning
I was on my way to take my baby to daycare and all of a sudden fuel gauge system problem popped up. And then everything shut off. Had to park very close to the road because I was on a small road with culverts on each side. I had fuel in it I just drove it the day before with no problems. I don’t feel that’s a very safe feature on the car. I had no warning and my baby was with me. If it’s just a fuel gauge problem why did my whole car shut off? I have researched on Honda that 2019-2021 civics had a fuel pump recall but my when I put my vin number in it tells me no recalls. Just want some answers since my car isn’t that old.
The car has been stalling to start for the last week. On 7/15/23 I parked my vehicle, all windows were up, I turned the vehicle off, got out and locked the doors, walked away and all of my windows went down half way and the sunroof opened, it has been stalling to speed up like it does usually. 12/19/2023 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2017-2020 model year Honda vehicles (NHTSA #23V-858). The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers.
Hello, I refueled my vehicle on 07/11/2023 after a completed service request at First Texas Honda on 06/30/2023. The vehicle now smells like gas or fuel. The smell is overpowering and makes me dizzy when I drive and gives me a headache. The VIN: [XXX] has previously been associated with a recall on the fuel pump. The additional repairs that were completed included: The infotainment system: The car infotainment system has also shutoff while driving. The dealership could not re-create the issue or concern. Air conditioner: There was also an issue with the driver side of the vehicle' air conditioner. The air conditioner wasn't working. Thank you for your efforts to maintain the safety of my vehicle. Warm Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
