The traction control turns on and then the shifts don’t work and I can’t drive since there is no speed also the rpm and the gas the speed and the battery gages start flickering up and down then I turn off the truck and it continues to work fine but after 40 miles or so it does it all again
Deer hit me on the highway at 2am on December 26th. No air bags deployed.
The contact owned a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, a grayish-colored smoke as well as an abnormal sound emit from the engine without warning. The contact pulled over and exited the vehicle as the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. The contact called the fire department and they extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed(#23-046145) and no injuries were reported. The contact stated that the highway barrier was damaged as a result of the fire. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Started losing power and had problems cranking. Now won't cranking at all. P0123 error code.
Head gaskets and engine default and ground wire system defaulted.
Turned key to start,it did not.mechanic said timing chain failed.

I CAN DRIVE LESS THAN 30 MILES AND MY VEHICLE WILL BE ALMOST OF EMPTY FROM A FULL TANK. IT JUST HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.

THE VEHICLE RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 153,245.
STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT IT COULD BE THE SENSOR SO I HAD IT REPLACED WITH A FACTORY BRAND GMC SENSOR AND I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG KEEPS SAYING IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED BUT IT'S NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED AND NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER FOR WHY THIS WARNING KEEPS COMING UP THE STABILITY TRACK WARNING COMES ON AS I'M DRIVING EVERY TIME AFTER ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING COMES ON AS SOON AS I START THE VEHICLE ENGINE. AND ALSO I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CODE P0700 IT KEEPS TURNING ON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND I HAD IT FIXED BUT IT STILL KEEPS TURNING ON .

TRANSMISSION FAILED, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, TRANSMISSION STUCK IN FIRST GEAR, GM APPROVED A 2013 SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN 2017, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS A PRODUCT DEFECT THAT IS DANGEROUS. GM HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE AND THE AUTONATION HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. GM AND AUTONATION HAVE SOLD A DANGEROUS USED CAR WITH A FRAUDULENT INTENT. GM AND AUTONATION HAVE RATIFIED THE INTENTIONAL FRAUD. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE IT IS STILL DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THE TRANSMISSION IS CURRENTLY FAILING AGAIN.

THE CONTACT HAD TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO RELEASE THE GEAR OUT OF FOURTH GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.
WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN LESS THAN AN HOUR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHT , TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR POPPED ON. THE CAR WOULD HAVE A SLOW TAKE OFF AND SHAKE AS YOU ACCELERATE ON THE CITY STREET. WHEN I DRIVE THE FREEWAY THE CAR WILL HESITATE AND TAKE 15 SECONDS BEFORE IT SWITCH GEARS TO CATCH UP TO SPEED AND JERK. THE SERVICE AIRBAG,SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM, SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL ALERT MESSAGES ARE ON THE MESSAGE CONSOLE.
THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE WHICH IN TURN BROKE THE ENGINE AS WELL. IT HAPPENED AS I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY, IT JUST STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN.
TAKATA RECALL IT KEEPS SHUTTING COMPLETELY DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY AND THIS AFFECTS EVERYTHING STEERING, COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER TO VEHICLE. NO CODES TO INDICATE SOMETHING IS WRONG !!!! EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THIS HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR EVEN AFTER PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BRAND NEW. MORE THAN 5 TIMES ALREADY. THIS WILL MOST CERTAINLY LEAD TO DEATH. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN WITH ME AT ALL TIMES. THAT'S 4 LIVES THAT COULD BE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM!!!! . I BOUGHT MY 2008 GMC ACADIA AND NOT LONG AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. I HAD THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP REPLACE IT WHICH WAS ALMOST $3000.00. ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF LATER IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. AND I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER $3000.00. NOW IT'S JUST SITTING. VERY UP SET ABOUT THIS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DUE TO JUMPED TIMING 3 DAYS AFTER WE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP AND A LITTLE OVER A YEAR LATER IT HAD JUMPED TIMING AGAIN SO NOW I HAVE TO COME UP WITH 800 TO TEAR DOWN THE MOTOR SO THEY CAN PROPERLY DIAGNOSE IT. SO I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THAT SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT I AM PAYING FOR AND CANNOT DRIVE. IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AS WE SPEAK. THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST UNSAFE CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I CAN NOT EVEN TRADE IT IN THE GET A SAFER CAR. WE HAVE COME SO CLOSE TO HAVING MANY ACCIDENTS WITH THIS CAR. THE STEERING JUST FREEZES UP THE ENGINE WILL JUST SHUT DOWN WILL DRIVING. WE HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED ONCE AND NOT IT NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN. WE ARE NOT HARD ON OUR CARS..I JUST HOPE IT DOES NOT COME DOWN TO HAVING A ACCIDENT BEFORE SOMEONE SEES HOW BAD THIS CAR IS.. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION, THERE IS A RECALL ON OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL IN A LARGE RANGE OF YEARS. THE RECALL IS A TRANSMISSION SOLENOID. HOWEVER BECAUSE UNDER THE VIN NUMBER IT DOES NOT SHOW THERE IS A RECALL THIS WILL NOT BE FIXED FREE BY DEALERSHIP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE ACCELERATING I'VE NOTICED MY VEHICLE HAS SOME TYPE OF WAVE PLATE ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS COMMON FOR THESE VEHICLES. IT JERKS AND SHAKES AND IT'S NOT SAFE.
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN A 3 WEEK PERIOD THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT DRIVER PROMPTS OR CONTROL (RPMS REVVED FROM 2000 TO OVER 6000 AND SPEED WOULD INCREASE FROM 50 MPH TO OVER 85 MPH WITH ACCELERATOR PEGGED TO THE FLOOR.) THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THIS WAS TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE FOR 10-15 MINUTES, THEN RESTART IT AND IT WOULD RUN NORMALLY FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. IF I DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AT A TIME IT WOULD REACT THIS WAY EVERY TIME AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HIT 2 VEHICLES ON THE INTERSTATE. ON ONE OCCASION I HAD TO IMPACT A GUARDRAIL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP WHO STATED ON BOTH OCCASIONS THEY COULD NOT...
THE TIMING CHAIN IS GOING BAD FOR NO REASON, AND I KNOW IS NOT OLTHE ONLY ONE, A FRIEND OF MINE HAS THE SAME TRUCK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR NO REASON AS WELL... 2008 GMC ACADIA WITH 140,000 MILES RAN FINE ON SATURDAY 11/24/18. NO NOISE, NO ISSUES, NO WARNING LIGHTS. MONDAY 11/26/18, ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER, BUT NOT CRANK. AGAIN, NO NOISE, ETC. HAD TOWED TO A LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP THAT HAS COMPLETED ALL WORK AND MAINTENANCE ON CAR. RESULTS=? BROKEN TIMING CHAIN. ???? THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2007 AND 2009 GMC ACADIA'S. IF THERE WAS ASSISTANCE WITH 2007 AND 2009, HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE SCA/RECALL FOR 2008. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED IN 2007 OR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO INCLUDE 2009. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE CONVERTRR POST THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SEIZE UP AND PULL TO GO INTO THE ENGINE.. WHEN STARTED NOTHING COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES AS THEY ARE CLOGGED MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO OPERATE.. SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE I GET AN ON AND OFF MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE AIR BAG. ALSO WHILE I AM DRIVING THE TRUCK OVER HEATS AND WHEN I COME TONA STOP AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND COMPLETELY REMIVE THE KEY. THE ENGINE STAYS ON AND WATER PUMP STARTS TO BUBLE AS IF THE WATER WAS BOILING AND AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES THERE IS NO WATER IN THE PUMP AND WHEN YOU ADD WATER THE WATER GET EXTREMELY HOT. I HAVE SEEN IN OTHER FORUMS WHERE ALL HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE FOUR SMALL CHILDREN AND DON'T FEEL SAFE HOWEVER THE TRUCK IS FINANCED AND I HAVE NO OPTION.

WHEN I GOT THE ACADIA IT WAS MAKING SOME WHINING NOISE, WOULDN'T CRANK BACK UP, RATTLE AND CLATTER, DRAGGING IN THE TRANSMISSION LIKE DRIVING IN A CERTAIN GEARS, NOISY IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF ABRUPTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE AS TURNED OFF IN A PARKED-IDLING POSITION, ROLLING AT FIVE MPH, AND EVEN BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND INSERTING IT TO THE ON POSITION CYCLING THAT MOTION FOUR TO FIVE TIMES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS I HAVE AND THEY ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM CERTAIN I AM NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. BOUGHT VEHICLE WITH ONLY 23K MILES ON IT, TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF DRIVING IT, TAKEN TO A DEALER, SAID NOTHING WRONG, ANOTHER YEAR LATER GOT WORSE, TOOK IT IN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, NOTHING WRONG, 6 MONTHS LATER TOOK IT IN BEFORE GOING ON VACATION, NOTHING WRONG, BUT HAD PROBLEMS WHILE ON VACATION, 6 MONTHS LATER, 1,500 MILES AWAY FROM HOME ON VACATION, DRIVING DOWN A 75 MILE AN HOUR SPEED LIMIT DIVIDED HIGHWAY, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING, NO DASH WARNING, TOOK IN TO A TRANSMISSION DEALER (SINCE WE COULDN'T GET INTO A DEALER) AND SAID WE WOULDN'T MAKE IT HOME THE WAY IT WAS. 5 GRAND LATER AND A MESS OF A VACATION LATER WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME. LESS THAN 3 MONTHS LATER, TIGHTEN GAS CAP LIGHT ON DASH, CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. FOUND OUT...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 20 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. QUIRK AUTO OF BANGOR, MAINE (295 HOGAN RD, 04401) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
I PURCHASED A USED 2008 GMC ACADIA IN MAY 2017 EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER IS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I KNEW THAT WE WOULD BE NEEDING IT TO TRAVEL FROM STATE TO STATE FOR COLLEGE TOURS. THEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE TRACTION CONTROL SHUT OFF AND THE LIGHT TO SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON THEN THE CAR DROP THE SPEED FROM 60 MPH TO 10-20 MPH! TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED ABOUT 3,000 MILES AGO. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED JUST MINUTES BEFORE EXITING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I ACCELERATED TO A MAXIMUM OF 45MPH BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED TO "PUTT" AND THEN I THOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE, THE RPM SKYROCKETED, I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO PULL OVER AND IT STARTED SMOKING / STEAMING AND OIL AND WATER WERE SPEWING OUT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE. SEVERAL PASSERS-BY NOTICED AND CALLED POLICE REPORTING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. GOT A RIDE TO WORK. HAPPENED 2X ALREADY. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION HIGH RATE OF SPEED 55 TO 75 MPH, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN DRASTICALLY ON ITS OWN. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF LOOSING ALL POWER AND POWER STEERING. HAPPENED ONCE ON HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON A MAJOR BUSY ROAD. IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE THERE IS NO POWER. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE I COULD NOT EVEN TELL THE ENGINE STOPPED BECAUSE THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STILL WORKED. PULLED OVER, WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THEN TRY TO START VEHICLE. IT WILL START AND EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD MY 3 KIDS IN CAR. NOT SAFE AT ALL. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE. SAID IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH TRANSMISSION.
APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO, MY 2008 GMC ACADIA WAS SERVICED AT 140,000 MILES FOR WORN OUT TIMING CHAINS. NOW, I AM LOOKING AT PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. HOW CONVENIENT. WITHIN THREE WEEKS THIS VEHICLE HAS FAILED ON ME. THE TIMING CHAINS WERE RATTLING IN TURNS WHEN IT WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. I ACTUALLY VISITED AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, SO I WAS RIDING AROUND WITH A FAULTY PART IN MY ENGINE. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AFTER I HAD EXITED THE INTERSTATE AT WHICH POINT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 10 MPH. GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT DECIDED TO STALL OUT ON ME AS I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DISASTROUS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN. THE 2007 AND 2009 GMC MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR TIMING CHAIN ISSUES, NEVER THE 2008 MODEL. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM...
