THE COMPLAINT IS SUSTAINED STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATION AFTER HITTING ROUGH PAVEMENT ON AN EXPANSION JOINT ABOVE 72 KM/H (45 MPH) MAKING IT HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE TRUCK.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY IN THE TRUCK IF YOU DRIVE OVER THE SLIGHTEST ROAD IMPERFECTION. I HAVE CALLED FORD WITH MY VIN NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY DID SAY THAT THIS WAS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE STEERING COMPONENTS AND TRACK BAR WAS SUBJECT TO PREMATURE FAILURE.
MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 68,871 MILES. I PURCHASED IT LESS THEN ONE YEAR AGO WITH 57K MILES. I HAVE EXPERIENCED "DEATH WOBBLE" THREE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING 11/17/19. THE MOST RECENT SENT ME ONTO THE SHOULDER AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. EACH OF THE THREE TIMES HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN 70-78MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER HITTING ROUGH ROAD OR A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK. I HAVE NO VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENTS DUE TO MY PRIMARY CONCERN BEING CORRECTING THE PROBLEM BY IMMEDIATELY SLOWING BELOW 45MPH. I HAVE CONTACTED A REPAIR SHOP WHO STATED THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, AND I CAN'T GET IT INTO A FORD DEALER FOR A WHILE.
WITH JUST 20,000 MILES MY 2017 F350 HAS DEVELOPED THE "DEATH-WOBBLE" . AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY IN A SLOW ARCHING TURN, IF THE TRUCK HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER (2ND TIME) AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS THE 4TH TRUCK BACK THIS WEEK FOR THE SAME ISSUE. ALL THE DEALER CAN DO IS REPLACE THE STEERING COMPONENTS WITH THE SAME ONES THAT WERE ON THE TRUCK. SEEMS LIKE FORD JUST WANTS TO GET OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD.
DRIVING AT 60-65, WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP SUCH AS RAILROAD TRACKS, POTHOLES OR ROUGH ROADS, THE FRONT END WILL BEGIN TO WOBBLE AND THEN THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY WITH VERY LITTLE CONTROL. ONCE YOU SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 40, THE SHAKE GOES AWAY AND THE TRUCK DRIVES NORMAL.
HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 50MPH +, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY MAKING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD AND SLOW WAY DOWN TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. THIS NEARLY CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND ME TO REAR END ME ON ONE OCCASION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. I HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCED THIS UNLOADED WITH NO TRAILER ON STRAIGHT ROADS, THUS FAR. THE VEHICLE IS RIGHT AT 19,000 MILES, STILL UNDER WARRANTY. IT SHOULD NOT BEHAVE THIS WAY. EVEN WHEN THE WOBBLE DOESN'T HAPPEN, THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES JUMP TO ONE SIDE OR ANOTHER GOING OVER ANGLED JOINTS IN THE ROAD. IF YOU ARE NOT PAYING EXTREME ATTENTION, YOU WILL BE IN THE MEDIAN. 2017 FORD 350 SRW/CREW CAB/LONG BED/DIESEL, 31K MILES, STEER/BUMP RESONANCE / DEATH WOBBLE AS SOME REFER TO IT AS, HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME ABOUT 2K MILES AGO. I WAS ON A STRETCH OF HIGHWAY THAT HAD A VERY WEIRD RIPPLE WHICH TRIGGERED THE FIRST INCIDENT, I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ANOMALY DUE TO CONDITIONS AND DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING MORE. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT IS PARTICULARLY PRONOUNCED WHEN IN A SLIGHT LEFT HIGHWAY TURN (UNLOADING THE STEERING DAMPER I ASSUME). WHILE TRAVELLING STRAIGHT AND LEVEL I WENT OVER A BRIDGE TRANSITION AND WENT INTO A STEER/BUMP RESONANCE WHICH FORCED ME TO THE SHOULDER AND SLOWING TO 30 MPH OR SO BEFORE IT DIMINISHED. THIS CAN BE DISTURBING ON AN EMPTY ROAD AND DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS ON A BUSY ONE. I'M JUST LUCKY THAT IT WAS A RELATIVELY LOW TRAFFIC ENVIRONMENT DURING THE...
VEHICLE OWNER WAS TRAVELLING AT 65MPH ON FOUR LANE INTERSTATE. UPON CROSSING OVER AN EXPANSION JOINT AT AN OVERPASS THE STEERING AND FRONT END BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. THE SHAKING PERSISTED UNTIL SPEED WAS REDUCED TO UNDER 45MPH. NO VEHICLES WERE PRESENT IN THE ADJACENT LANES. IF THERE WERE IT IS VERY LIKELY AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED.
AT APPROXIMATELY 24,500 MILES, WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, I CROSSED A SMALL CREASE IN THE ROAD AT THE BEGINNING OF A BRIDGE, THE TRUCK WENT INTO A "DEATH WOBBLE", OR AS FORD CALLS IT "SUSTAINED STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATION". THIS IS A VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE FRONT END THAT CAUSES YOU TO TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU CAN REDUCE YOUR SPEED TO UNDER 45 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR APPROXIMATELY 11,200 MORE MILES. AT AROUND 35,700 MILES, THE DEATH WOBBLE RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH. REDUCING THE SPEED TO LESS THAN 45 MPH STOPPED THE WOBBLE. HOWEVER, SINCE YOU CANNOT DRIVE 45 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE, IT HAPPENED EVERY TIME I SPED UP AND HIT THE SLIGHTEST OF SMALL BUMPS IN...
WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY-SPEED ABOUT 65 MPH, THE TRUCK HITS A GROVE IN THE HIGHWAY ROAD AND STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLE. I SLOWED DOWN WHILE TRYING TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN ONE LANE AND IT STOPPED THE BUCKING/WOBBLE ACTION WHEN THE SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 20 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK AND VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED TO BE LOOKED AT IN THE SERVICE CENTER.
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY HIT A SMALL POTHOLE AND THE STEERING / FRONT SUSPENSION STARTED WOBBLING VERY VIOLENTLY, HAD NO MORE CONTROL ON THE THE STEERING. HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER. NO DAMAGE VISIBLE TO TIRES OR STEERING COMPONENTS SO I CONTINUED DRIVING AND THE WOBBLE WAS GONE. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE ON BRIDGE JOINTS IN A CURVE FOR A SHORT MOMENT, BUT NOT AS VIOLENTLY AS TODAY. TRUCK SEEMS NOT SAFE, WILL TAKE IT TO DEALER ON MONDAY.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2017 F-350 A COUPLE YEARS AGO. IT HAS ABOUT 22,000 MILES ON IT. I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" YESTERDAY FOR THE SECOND TIME. I NOW KNOW WHY IT'S CALLED THAT. I WAS GOING ABOUT 60MPH ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY WHEN THE TRUCK AND STEERING STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I ALMOST CRASHED TRYING TO SLOW IT DOWN AND DEFINITELY COULD HAVE KILLED ME! IT SOUNDS AS IF THIS IS BECOMING ALL TOO COMMON OF A PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE AGAIN!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY TO WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN MY TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE SO BAD IN THE FRONT END I ALMOST TOOK OUT THE VEHICLE TO MY LEFT AND ENDED UP HALFWAY IN THE DITCH. I HAD 0 CONTROL OVER MY TRUCK
TRAVELING ON A PAVED HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH. THE ROADWAY HAD A BUMPY SECTION. WHEN DRIVING THRU THE BUMPY SECTION, THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND NEARLY CAUSED A LOSS OF CONTROL. IT CONTINUED TO SHAKE UNTIL THE TRUCK SPEED WAS REDUCED BELOW 30 MPH.
DEATH WOBBLE. FRONT END SHAKES SO BAD YOU CANT CONTROL IT BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY.
HAD TRUCK REPAIRED IN APRIL OF 2017 WITH DEATH WOBBLE. TODAY IT IS BACK IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. SERVICE PERSON SAID THERE IS NO 'FIX', JUST KEEP BRINGING IT BACK N. GUESS I WILL UNTIL IT KILLS ME IN AN ACCIDENT! SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE, FRONT END GOES CRAZY WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR BRIDGE XIAN'S ION JOINT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
THIS VEHICLE ON NORMAL ROADS, INTERSTATE OR BACKROADS, WILL GO INTO WHAT I WOULD CALL A DEATH WOBBLE. THIS "WOBBLE" IS VERY VIOLENT, AND IT USUALLY OCCURS AT 50MPH OR GREATER. AT THIS SPEED THE VEHICLE BECOMES BARELY GUIDEABLE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP THE EVENT IS TO SLOW DOWN. MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THAT IT WILL CONTINUE DOWN TO SPEEDS OF 35-40 BEFORE IT GOES AWAY. I STRONGLY FEEL AS THOUGH THIS EVENT, IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT THE WRONG TIME WILL COST A LIFE. IT DOES NOT TAKE A HUGE POT HOLE TO SET IT OFF, IT IS TYPICALLY A SMALLER IRREGULAR BUMP THAT WILL GET IT GOING. UNDER WARRANTY I HAVE HAD THE STEERING DAMPER REPLACED AS WELL AS BOTH FRONT SHOCKS AND NOTHING SO FAR HAS TOUCHED THE ISSUE.
WHEN TRAVELING AT 60-75 MPH AND HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD LIKE A PAVEMENT TO BRIDGE DECK BUT NOT LIMITED TO THAT THE FRONT END GOES INTO A VIOLENT SHIMMIE AND HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD TO KEEP CONTROL AND SLOW TO 30MPH OR SO. MOSTLY HIWAY DRIVING SOME NO HIWAY. HAVE TAKEN IN TO FORD AND OTHERS AND WAS TOLD FORD CAN'T FIX THIS ISSUE. STARTED HAPPENING AROUND 36K AND I HAVE 42K ON IT NOW. HAVE INSTALLED A STEERING DAMPENER WITH NO FIX. THIS IS HAS DEFLATED THE VALUE OF MY VEHICAL IF I WAS ABLE TO SELL IT AT ALL WITH ALL THE BLOGS LIKE CARGURUS DEATH WOBBLE. BUMPS APPEAR TO INVOLVE BOTH FRONT TIRES POSSIBLY WHEN ONE TIRE HITS FIRST SIMILAR TO BRIDGE JOINTS OR PAVEMENT BREAKS. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ABOUT 55 OR GREATER, ONLY HAD HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. THE STEERING WHILE SHAKES BACK AND FORTH ABOUT 1-INCH EACH WAY WITH TRUCK BODY SHAKING. IT APPEARS TO WORSEN IF BREAKING HARD SO SLOW DECELERATION HAS BEEN MY PRACTICE. WHEN TOWING TRAILER HAVE USED MANUAL APPLICATION OF TRAILER BRAKES TO DRAG TRUCK SLOWER WHICH SEEMS BETTER. EXPERIENCED WHEN DRIVING TRUCK ONLY AND ALSO WHEN TOWING A FIFTH WHEEL 12K POUND TRAILER OR A 7K POUND HITCH PULL BOX TRAILER. TRUCK WEIGHS ABOUT 9K POUNDS. FORD DEALER HAS SERVICED UNIT ACCORDING TO SERVICE BULLETIN #18-2268. FOUR VISITED FOR REPAIRS AND A FEW ADDITIONAL VISITS FOR INSPECTION BEFORE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH OVER A ROUGH, BUMPY ASPHALT ROAD, THE VEHICLE AND STEERING JERKED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOZEMAN FORD LINCOLN (2900 N 19TH AVE, BOZEMAN, MT 59718, (406) 587-1221) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A STEERING STABILIZER WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL ROAD SPEEDS, BETWEEN 45 AND 70 MPH, WHEN VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS A BUMP WHILE IN A SLIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO "SHIMMY", OR OSCILLATE, VIOLENTLY, MAKING VEHICLE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL VERY DIFFICULT. DEALER HAS STATED THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED AND SEEMS TO BE WORSE.
FRONT TIRES OSCILLATE BACK AND FORTH WHEN HITTING POTHOLES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH, BRIDGE OVERPASSES ANYTHING THAT IS ROUGH. KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE FOR MOST PEOPLE. TRUCK BECOMES OUT OF CONTROL SHAKING BACK AND FORTH, HAVING TO SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN ALMOST TO A STOP. THIS ISSUE STARTED AROUND 37K MILES AND HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE. NOW THE DEALER SAYS MY TRACK BAR WITH BALL JOINT IS RUINED, STEERING STABALIZER, 2 DRAG LINKS 1 AT PASSENGER KNUCKLE AND 1 AT THE PITMAN ARM. THIS REPAIR IS CLOSE TO $1,000.
AT 17,000 MILES JUST STARTED THE DEATH WOBBLE. HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, IT HAPPENED PULLING A TRAILER GOING 62 MPH. HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 30 MPH TO REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE.
ANOTHER VICTIM OF DEATH WOBBLE. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE WITH TRUCK ALONE (JANUARY 2019) AND ANOTHER TIME PULLING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER (9/22/2019)...BOTH DOWNHILL IN THE MOUNTAINS. THE TRUCK JUST STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO MAKE IT STOP. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER INSTALLED SOME CASTER SHIMS, THE 2ND TIME THEY SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE AND NO ISSUES WITH THE SUSPENSION.
WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY SHAKES AND IS UNCONTROLLABLE AFTER HITTING BUMPS OR POTHOLES. IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, HARD BRAKING MUST BE APPLIED TO REDUCE SPEED RAPIDLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THREE DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND HAD THREE DIFFERENT SUPPOSED SERVICE BULLETIN FIX REPAIRS PERFORMED. YET HERE WE ARE STILL WITH THE DEATH WOBBLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-25 IN COLORADO, MILE MARKER 255, THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. MY SPEED WAS 50 MPH. THE TRUCK EXPERIENCED AN EXTREME STEERING OSCILLATION/DEATH WOBBLE AFTER DRIVING OVER A ROUGH SPOT IN THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE. I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP ON THE NARROW SHOULDER. ATTACHED IS THE REPAIR DOCUMENT FROM THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED PART #HC3Z 3E651 F :DAMPER ASSEMBLY PER TSB 19-2274.
I HAVE SEVER SHAKING WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AFTER HITTING A BUMP OR THE ROAD CHANGES. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER 4 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS TO TRY AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT HAS ALMOST MADE ME LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE WITH NO FIX FROM FORD.

I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ~30 MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 26,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE IN THE PAST.

A COUPLE MILES INTO OUR TRIP , WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WE HIT A BUMPY AREA OF THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK STARTING SHAKING VIOLENTLY, LIKE HAVING A BLOWOUT. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO SEE WHAT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. 2017 FORD F-350 SUPERDUTY TRUCK EXPERIENCED SEVERE STEERING/SUSPENSION WOBBLE WHEN ENCOUNTERING BUMPS IN ROADWAY. FOUR INCIDENTS OCCURRED, WITH THREE OCCURRING IN THE SEPT. 18-26, TIMEFRAME IN 2019.WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 TO 70 MPH. VEHICLE WAS HARD TO CONTROL DURING THE WOBBLE, AND REQUIRED SLOWING TO 20-25MPH TO STOP THE SHAKING. OTHER VEHICLES FOLLOWING ME AT THE LISTED SPEEDS WERE REQUIRED TO BRAKE QUICKLY TO AVOID COLLISION WITH MY VEHICLE. ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS APPROX. 17000 MILES AT THE TIME.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WE HAVE HIT A BUMP/POTHOLE AND IT CAUSES A SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE. THE LAST TIME IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES AND THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER GOOGLING IT,IT IS APPARENT THAT THERE IS A ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN I CROSSED A SET OF RAIL ROAD TRACKS AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY ENOUGH TO CAUSE ME TO ENTER LEFT DITCH. AFTER APPLYING THE BREAKS AND SLOWING TO 15 MPH I REGAINED CONTROL. I GOT OUT AND CHECK THE TIRES AND ALL SEEMED FINE. STARTED TO SLOWLY DRIVE AND IT WAS FINE. A FEW MILES LATER I BEGAN TO SMELL DIESEL FUEL. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION THE SMELL WAS VERY STRONG. OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE AND STEAMING FROM THE INTER COOLER. DRIVE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AS THE SHAKING HAD CAUSED IT TO CRACK.
I OWN A 2017 F-350 SUPER DUTY WITH 28,000 MILES. EXPERIENCING "DEATH WOBBLE" MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK, TYPICALLY AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-70 MPH AND HITTING EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BUMP OR UNEVEN-NESS IN THE ROAD. THE SHAKING IN THE FRONT END IS SO VIOLENT THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT CONTROLLABLE AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO THE POINT THAT MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE IT. THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL IS BY SLOWING DOWN TO APPROX 30-40 MPH UNTIL THE SHAKING SUBSIDES. YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE WOBBLE STARTED AND PULLED ME INTO THE NEXT LANE, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. SLOWING DOWN IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL CAUSED ANOTHER NEAR MISS AS CARS WERE HAVING TO SWERVE TO AVOID ME AS I TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL FROM THE WOBBLE. THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE AND IT IS PRACTICALLY NEW WITH VERY LOW MILES - THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING...
WHEN HITTING A BUMP BETWEEN 50 TO 60MPH, THE TRUCK FRONT END STARTED BOUNCING WILDLY AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES MILES ON THE VEHICLE WAS BETWEEN 27,000 AND 30,000. FORD DEALER DESCRIBED THIS AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE", LITERALLY. WAS FIXED BY REPLACING STEERING DAMPER. THIS EVENT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY DANGEROUS.
VEHICLE DEVELOPED KNOCKING IN FRONT END AT 5,000 MILES. AT AROUND 10,000 MILES BEGAN UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEN HITTING A BUMP AT 75 MPH ON HIGHWAY. THIS WOULD STOP BY SLOWING DOWN TO 40 MPH. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL THE FRONT STABILIZER WAS REPLACED BY FORD AT AROUND 15,000. VEHICLE NOW HAS 20,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS AGAIN STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AS STATED BEFORE. FORDS FIX IS TO REPLACE IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME PART THAT HAS ALREADY FAILED TWICE. I HAVE HEARD OF THE SAME ISSUES FROM OTHER PEOPLE IS SIMILAR MAKES AND MODELS.
DEATH WOBBLE SYMPTOMS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, VIOLENT SHAKING IN STEERING AND SUSPENSION. HAD TO REPLACE TRACK BAR, STEERING STABILIZER, ALIGN FRONT END TO REDUCE/ELIMINATE POTENTIAL DANGER. POOR RESPONSE BY FORD ON THIS ONE. HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, DIFFICULT TO DUPLICATE, POSSIBLE SERIOUS INJURY IF AN I EXPERIENCED DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE IS BEHIND THE WHEEL.
TRUCK GOES INTO DEATH WOBBLE. WAS RETURNED FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AT 35,091. THE WOBBLE CAME BACK AND IS A DANGER. WE HAVE 3 F350, 17 AND 18 MODELS AND THEY ARE ALL HAVING DEATH WOBBLE PROBLEMS. THESE PROBLEMS POSE A DANGER AND SHOULD BE RECALLED, IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD (REF# CAS24123991) TO MAKE THE AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND TO GET THEM TO REPAIR.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON I-80 TRANSITIONED FROM TAR TO CONCRETE AND EXPERIENCED SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. STEERING WHEEL WAS ALMOST RIPPED FROM MY HANDS. WAS ABLE TO GET ONTO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY AND STOP VEHICLE. RESUMED TRAVEL AND WENT DIRECTLY TO FORD DEALER IN RENO,NV. THEY WERE UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY INSPECT VEHICLE SO I TRAVELED BACK TO FALLON,NV. TO DEALER. RAN 55MPH 60 MILES WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. I DO FEEL THAT IF I HAD NOT BEEN TRAVELING IN THE INSIDE LANE ON I-80 I WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUED THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED IMMEDIATELY!

2017 F-350 ENCOUNTERED SUSTAINED STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATION (DEATH WOBBLE) ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCURRENCES TWO OCCURRED IN A THREE WEEK PERIOD. TWO OCCURRED TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND DRIVING OVER AN EXPANSION JOINT. ONE OCCURRED ON A DIVIDED CITY ROAD AT THE SPEED OF 55 AN RUNNING OVER A MANHOLE COVER THAT WAS NOT LEVEL WITH THE ROADWAY. TWO OF THE EVENTS WERE IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS AND ENDED IN NEAR COLLISIONS. FORD TSB # 18-2268 ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM AND PROVIDES CORRECTIVE ACTION; HOWEVER, THIS SITUATION IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED THROUGH A RECALL PROCESS. VEHICLES MUST SLOW TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH TO REGAIN CONTROL, A DIFFICULT FEAT IF THE INDIVIDUAL IS DRIVING ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY SURROUNDED BY TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PROBLEM IS BEING CORRECT BY FORD; HOWEVER THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED PRIOR TO THE CONDITION PRESENTING ITSELF.

THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD SUPERDUTY 4X4 TRUCKS. IT'S THE SECOND TIME I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. FIRST TIME, FORD REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPENER. NOW THEY ARE CHANGING TIE-ROD ENDS. NTSB REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK AT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION AND FORCE FORD TO STOP NICKEL DIMING REPAIRS AND FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.

THEN ON JUNE 10, 2019 I RAN OVER AN EXPANSION JOINT IN A BRIDGE ON A CORNER GOING 45-50 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENTIRE TRUCK VIBRATED TO THE POINT OF LOSING CONTROL AND GOING OFF ROAD NEARLY INTO THE DITCH BEFORE I GOT THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE VIBRATION AND OSCILLATION WAS EXTREMELY SEVERE WITH EVERYONE IN VEHICLE BEING TOSSED ABOUT VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY MADE...
