The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 - 65 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the vehicle experienced the death wobble, causing the vehicle to independently shift into either the left or right lane. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the result was unknown. The contact was informed that a steering dampener could be added to the control arms. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.

My f250 experiences what is known as death wobble when driving over 50mph and hitting bumps. It's been happening much more frequently as of late. Only way to stop it from wobbling is getting over to the shoulder and slow down to approximately 40-45.

Pulling my camper with my 2019 Ford F250. As we began to go down a hill I tapped the brakes to just slow down. I was driving around 55 mph. After I tapped the brakes the front end began to shake. Only had my truck for 6 months, my suspension is worn out causing a known issue known as death wobble. I was driving at 65mph with my family and extreme shaking occurred. Yes by a Ford dealership. Yes the truck and the area was inspected and confirmed to needing replaced parts. My 2019 F250 Super Duty has severe shaking in the front end also known as the death wobble I read that Ford put out a release for any 2017 to 2019 under the customer satisfaction guarantee that my truck should be repaired but when I type in the VIN it does not say that I qualify for that repair even though I have the exact year and the exact problems associated with the recall can somebody explain to me why my truck is not covered for these fixes?

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and after driving over a bump in the road, the vehicle experienced a "Death Wobble" causing the driver to lose control of the steering and crash into a garbage truck. During the crash, the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged but the air bag did not deploy. The driver sustained a head injury and later received medical treatment which revealed multiple strokes had occurred during the crash. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact indicated that prior to the crash the steering arm had been replaced on three separate occasions. The failure mileage was 25,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper had failed, and the tie rods and ball joints were damaged due to the shuddering. The dealer informed the contact that Ford Campaign Number: 20N04 only covered the steering linkage damper replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,137.

Death Wobble At 70 MPH When Driving Over Rumble Strip In The Middle Of The Road. Slowed Down To Almost 15 MPH To Stop The Excessive Violent Shaking.

I was driving on a 1200 mile trip with my 39ft camper. I came off an overpass bridge and my truck felt like both front tires had popped. On [XXX] I was driving to North Carolina pulling a 43 foot fifth wheel camper when I hit a bump driving at 65 MPH when I hit a bump and experienced the notorious Ford Death Wobble. The whole truck & steering started to shake violently I had to almost come to complete stop on interstate to get truck to stop shaking & to get truck under control I do know in fact that Ford has had issues with this problem & I am concerned why Ford has not recalled their trucks for this problem. I experienced a death wobble at 60mph this was a recall that i had done. I have not contacted the dealer about this yet. The mileage is about 47000

Vehicle experiences death wobble in the front suspension system. While driving, vehicle suddenly shakes violently and is difficult to control. Vehicle was repaired at an authorized Ford dealership in 2021 but has since experienced the same dangerous affects of death wobble. Vehicle was inspected by the authorized Ford dealership prior to repair who confirmed the presence of death wobble. There were no warning signs prior to the vehicle experiencing death wobble before repair. There have been no warning signs after repair since death wobble has recurred.

Speed wobble is pulling the vehicle into on coming traffic. Issue has been diagnosed by the ford dealership as bad tires in the past. Replaced tires and 20,000 miles later the problem comes back.

After hitting a small bump on the highway my steering violently vibrated and i had to pull to the side of the interstate over a bridge because I though I had a tire blow out. I almost got rear-ended due to slowing down form 70mph to a safe enough speed to pull over. After inspecting the tires I couldn't see anything wrong. We were going speeds of 65-70mph and hit a bump and the sheeting wheel started to violent shake and the tires felt like they were going to come off. This has happened 3 times now since we bought the truck last December. After some research, this is known in the ford community as the death wobble.

Had Death Wobble incident approximately 45 mph locked up breaks, came to slow roll, drove out of condition. ford replaced steering stabilizer very scary with family in vehicle luckily no trailer attached. ford needs to fix before death occurs. the caster bushing to fix can't cost anymore than the stabilizer replaced and definitely less costly than a life. This doesn't give impression of not caring about safety it confirms it ! Not new issue

When traveling this past weekend at 60-65mph, after crossing a small bump in the road, my truck lost control and vibrated into the oncoming lane by more than 50%. My truck continued left while I held the steering wheel to the right. This is not the first time this has happened, but always happens when traveling at highway speeds. Driving around a light curve on a highway at posted limit of 60mph, had a severe death wobble. It did it again around a second curve as I was attempting to slow down.

Truck was purchased used in Sept of 2023. Shortly after the truck started suffering from Death Wobble. All steering tie rod ends (all 4), track bar shocks and steering stabilizer were replaced. Tires were rotated Ball joints were checked and were good. Truck still has death wobble. I'm sure this is why the truck was traded. Ford has declined to repair under tsb 18 2268 due to build date.

Driving at highway speed 65-70 mph, I drove across a rough patch of road. This rough patch was along a curve in the road. The truck from end violently vibrated, and it felt that I didn't have steers control of the vehicle. I lightly tapped the brakes and the vehicle began slowing down, while the truck drifted into the adjacent lane. The vibration continued until my speed dropped to approximately 35mph. When driving down the highway 60 mph hit a rough patch on the highway. It caused the truck to start shimming where it felt like it was going to fall apart now known to us as the death wobble. The driver was with some difficulty to control the vehicle reduce the speed and pull off to the side of the road.

Brought truck into ford dealer and determined steering wheel dampener was bad and replaced under warranty which Ford extended due to known issue. No warning lamps or prior issue before that day. Almost crashed due to known issue with child in truck.

I was travelling at approximately 70 MPH and hit a small bump on the interstate. The steering started to wobble violently, resulting in the need to stop on the side of the interstate to correct the wobble. This occurred a few time prior, but the wobble resolved after 1 - 2 seconds.

I Have had 3 incident to my truck where it starting violently shaking and i could not steer the truck> I had heard this is known as the death wobble and that everyone knows about it and yet there is still no reacall?? I had it fixed under warrenty at 19,545 miles. Now it is out of warrenlty as of Dec 8th 2023 and I had two incident on Dec 10th ( 2 days after warrently expired) I believe I have around 47,000 miles on it now. Over the past 100 miles my F250 4x4 has nearly lost control because of a violent shaking, or wobbling of the front end. It has happened four (4) times when driving on paved surfaces at approximately 50-55mph; it has happened once while I was braking at approximately 45mph (this would be the 5th time). I immediately slowed down (without hard braking) when the wobbling occurred, but I believe that if I hadn't, the vehicle could have been forced into the opposite lane of travel. The current mileage is 28,859 It is available for inspection I'm taking it into my Ford dealership (for the first time) tomorrow to tell it about the problem, but it was also recommended I report the issue here because of numerous similar complaints. My car has death wobble issues. If I go more than 30-40mph on the highway the car starts shaking violently and uncontrollably and swerves side to side. It is a very scary experience. This has happen multiple times. We have brought to the different shops ans change several components but after a month or so the issue comes back. Until recently I brought to a ford dealer and came to find out about the defective problem on this this type of cars. Unfortunateluly ford doesnt want to pay for the entire repair cost.

I am unsure on what malfunctioned. When driving if we hit a bump in the road or the road is uneasy the truck begins to violently shake to the point we have to completely stop the vehicle. We have had it at numerous shops across the state and no one can tell us what is wrong. They say everything is fine with it. There are no lights on the dash signaling anything is wrong. We consider this a HUGE safety risk not only to ourselves and our kids but other drivers on the road as well. It could cause a major accident if someone was to lose control while shaking. Any sudden jolt to the front passenger side wheel causes the truck to do the death wobble. It happened 3 times yesterday (12/31/23) within a 1 hour time frame. The only way to stop it is to let the truck gradually come to a stop and then start back again. The whole truck jumps and the steering wheels shakes uncontrollably.

I have now experienced the Ford Death Wobble two different times driving at high rates of speed 70-75mph that has almost caused serious accidents on state i75 and I10 in Florida. My family was in the truck and I was able to save it from hitting the guard rail.

Steering and suspension were compromised at highway speeds upon hitting a mild change in surface (such as a bridge expansion joint). The front axle bounces and shakes violently and steering is extremely difficult. Reducing speed (below highway speed while on a highway in traffic) eventually ends the violent shaking and bouncing. This problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center nor has it been inspected by others. There were also no warning lamps or messages.

I experienced the death wooble on my 2019 f250 took truck to ford dealership and had the steering dampner replaced as this what ford says causes the problem but a week after it was supposed to corrected i was driving on the interstate and hit a ruff spot in the pavement and experienced the death wooble again . This was on11/04/2023 . So the part ford says should correct the wooble didnt fix it. Still have death wooble .

The shaking causes the whole truck and steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. The only way to stop the shaking is to slow to below 40 mph. This happens at random places and times. There is no warning and the entire truck and steering wheel is fully involved in violent shaking within 3 seconds.

I was driving on US 59 while pulling a 30' Airstream Travel trailer with my 2019 F250 truck when the steering system started violently shacking preventing from controlling the vehicle. The truck and trailer veered across the center line before I could regain control. I was traveling 65 mph at the time. In May 2023, I was notified by Ford that the warranty for the steering damper had been extended as there have issues with steering system vibrating excessively preventing control of the vehicle. This need to be change to an immediate safety recall.
